Tierney is a world-renowned assassin. Well, as renowned as one can be when no one living has ever seen her face and even those who hire her have no idea who they are actually dealing with.
She remains shrouded in mystery. No attachments. No hassles. The closest thing she has to a friend, is an enemy.
Ahren Rossdale is a billionaire philanthropist who just happens to enjoy killing people in his off hours.
The biggest thorn in his side? The perky blonde assassin who has stolen three kills from him this year.
Ahren has a choice to make when he stumbles upon Tierney deeply wounded on the edge of losing consciousness. If he kills her, he wipes out his only rival, automatically increasing his own net worth by millions and ridding himself of hundreds of future migraines.
So, why does it bother him so much that someone attacked her? And why is he hesitant to take her out?
I absolutely loved this book! From the very first chapter, I was pulled into a world full of emotion, tension, and unforgettable characters. Brinley's writing is lyrical and captivating, and the story had the perfect balance of heart and suspense. Tierney is a fierce badass who never backs down and Ahren who is also a badass is a softy in hiding. Together they make the best team and I loved how well they worked together. In other words, I absolutely LOVED this book and I want to read more of them. 100000000/10 recommend.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, and I’m already planning to grab a finished copy when it’s released. Everyone else should too, bc it's just amazing.

Brinley Moore takes us on a journey with two hired “contractors” and their ongoing rivalry… Tierney is renowned for her skills and Ahren a billionaire tycoon who contracts on the side for fun. Tierney likes to flaunt it when she bests him, but when he finds her in a sticky situation one day, he has to decide if he wants to rid himself of the competition once and for all.
I wanna say this is like a spy story crossed with mystery and a little spice on the side. Author Brinley brings to life Tierney and Ahren’s strong personalities along with doc Connor’s sensibilities and merges this story into one of mystery and intrigue. While this is a standalone book, I’d love to hear more about doc and fellow “contractor” Henri after all their help solving the puzzles.
I received this book as an ARC read. Unfortunately this was a DNF for me. I’m not going to rate it because the book itself was not bad, the story just wasn’t grasping my attention the way I wanted it to and I found myself having a hard time trying to finish it.
Fun plot! I was hooked from the beginning! Definately enjoyed the fast pace and action aspect of the book, especially the puzzle solving/mystery of it!
This is a slow burn, with most of the spice near the later 30% of the book (so after the first 70%) and with a handful of scenes. It is open door spice, a few varied situations, mostly quick scenes, they’re assassins! They’ve got unaliving to do 😂 Ahren does fall first and head over heels! This book brings a whole new meaning to OWD (other woman drama) 😂
Some Tropes: 🗡️ Badass FMC 🔫 Playboy MMC 🗡️ Rival Assassins 🔫 Touch her and 💀
I gave it a lower rating because of a few inconsistencies that my brain just couldn’t let go of. The timeline of events got a bit confusing, at first just a few days had passed then it was more than a few weeks between scenes, yet the characters hadn’t really progressed in their friendship/relationship, so I got caught up in that. Once we started to explore the attraction and relationship between Tierney and Ahren the scenes felt a little thin, very surface level and I just wanted more context into their feelings, perhaps more dialogue or background information or insight would have been helpful as well, a lot of their interactions felt cut off too soon or started heated very quickly. Also in the dialogue between characters, it’s sometimes hard to follow who is speaking, there will be an end quote and new paragraph with a new quote that usually indicates a new speaker, but sometimes it’ll still be the previous character continuing on with their thoughts. Once I got used to it, it wasn’t huge, but I kept re-reading to try and figure it out 🤷🏽♀️
Random side note: not that location is a big deal but I was confused on accents and where this was possibly taking place (US vs UK) because small things like Ahren’s “posh accent” and him pronouncing Tierney without the “r” (my brain also won’t let me not say the “r” 😂), but all was written in US English? Again, small things, but my brain won’t let it go 😂
Arhen Rossdale and Tierney Darwood are assassins…shes the youngest one, playing games with Arhen as who will get the hit first. For six years, they play cat and mouse. One day, Tierney is set up and almost died..but Arhen is there to save her…Someone is after her and they will team up to find who. In the process, they slowly fall in love…
First book I ever read form Brinley Moore. And it’s sooooo good! A story between two assassins is not what I was expecting but was so excited to read it! I did in one sitting! The main characters are not the normal ones. They are assassins. Used to be alone. They have no emotion, no empathy for the hit they are paid for to kill.. But as bizarre as it is, they have a connection, make them feel things they never did and slowly they are finding themselves in a slow burning love… The backstory is interesting and keeps me over the edge… to know why and who is after her. I highly recommend this book. Can’t wait to see what is next !! 5⭐️
Tierney is an experienced assassin that is fairly new in the game compared to the other assassins in the community. Ahren is eight years older than Tierney who is a billionaire by day and assassin by night. When a hit comes in, all assassins get the information, and Ahren gets a white rose every time he just misses a hit to his rival. Tierney loves rubbing in Ahren's face that she gets the hits before he does, but what happens when she gets stood up and is near death? Will Ahren just let her die, or does he have some feelings that he needs to explore?
I love a good enemies to lovers, age-gap story. I enjoyed this book a lot! I loved Brinley's writing and the way that she paints the picture of the situations. I will admit she did leave me stunned with some things that happened in the book I was NOT expecting it for sure! If you're looking for a good mixture of heroine female with dominating male this is a good book for you!
Rivals & Revenge had a lot going for it — snappy banter, a fiery dynamic between the leads, and the kind of enemies-to-lovers tension that initially drew me in. Brinley Moore clearly knows how to craft a competitive spark and the emotional build-up hits some genuinely satisfying beats.
That said, the book didn’t fully deliver on its promise. At times the rivalry felt more repetitive than escalating, and there were moments where character decisions seemed driven more by plot convenience than believable growth. Some of the secondary characters had potential, but weren’t given enough space to feel fully realized, which made parts of the story feel a bit one-note.
Ultimately, Rivals & Revenge was an enjoyable enough read if you’re in the mood for light romantic conflict, but it didn’t quite stick with me the way stronger entries in the genre do. Fans of quick banter and heated chemistry might get more out of it than readers looking for deeper emotional resonance.
Well, A great intro to a new author for me....Rivals, (Tierney and Ahren) and Revenge! Wow..it was a great read with a great plot with some darkness and heat thrown in. And slow burn love...Oh Yeh!! So, Ahren stumbles across Tierney, by accident, when a hit went wrong for her. As Assassins, they both know the day of reckoning will come eventually, and Tierney, as she lost consciousness thought that day had come, as the last person her eyes would see were that of Ahren! So, to wake and see Ahren by her bedside, was a surprise was an understatement, until she tried to move and realized he had her drugged! He states for her own safety, but she was still determining if that were the case. He knows she was the actual hit not the other way round and he intended for those responsible to pay! Hence the Revenge! A great story of the Doc, aka, Conner, Ahren and Tierney as they weave their way through a maze of supposed clues to avoid the bounty on Tierney and Ahern's head. When Conner is taken, all bets are off as Ahren and Tierney try to find her. Not knowing who the enemy is and whether they would survive another day, they try to outwit them. Finding Conner was priority without putting themselves in the firing line, but they had to dance to the tune of the abductor, for now! It was a roller coaster ride of emotions as both Ahren and Tierney fought their attraction towards one another, as they were rivals....weren't they? I loved the push and pull, until FINALLY they gave in to their desires...OH YEH!! For a MMC to fall first is so swoon worthy for me and I loved his protective nature and "touch her and you will d!e" attitude which pissed Tierney off to no end as she was the most capable female assassin in the area. But they were up against a cunning enemy who seemed to know more about them than they should! A great story that does lead to an unexpected and deserved HEA for Tierney and Ahern.
This was such a fast paced book, had me gripping onto my seat till the very end. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding everyone and it is revealed strategically. The characters have a lot of depth. The world is fascinating. Some really hilarious lines in there. All in all this is a fantastic book. I definitely want to book 2!!!! Not that everything isn’t tied up at the very end but I’d like to know more about them. That’s how interesting it was.
Oh i loved these characters! Ahren and tierney were amazing! Larissa was so awesome too, i liked her so much! Even henri, he sounded fun! I did ghasp out loud few times, there were times that i didn’t know what is gonna happen, so good! I don’t know what to say only that this was good, i really liked this! Even got a bit of spice! Im just out of words right now, this was that good!
Loved everything about this story. The characters were intriguing and the dynamic was fun. Been awhile since one had me so enthralled. The twists were perfect and kept me turning the page. Had to finish it in one go. Loved Tierney and Ahren.
I never knew I needed an assassins enemies to lovers story, but apparently I did! It hit everything…mystery, suspense, personal growth, he falls first, revenge, all tied up in a single amazing story. Great debut book! Definitely looking forward to more
This is certainly a fast paced read filled with mystery that kept my mind reeling. Tierney was a character I’d like to be and Ahren (love the spelling) che kiss* . Both unalivers, competition for jobs but could they be more ? This is a SLOW burn but there is spice to be had .
Tierney and Ahren are like the perfect assassin duo! Remind me a lot of Mr &Mrs Smith with Angelina Jolie. I loved this so much even the Lady Doc! I grew a bit fond of her and how she just fit in perfectly with them. I really loved this book and the strong connection between these two characters!
I got bored halfway through the book, well two killers falling in love, i was more excited to see them fight the bad guys, but literally from chapter 6 to 50 i saw nothing?? *rolls my eyes in boredom* i don't even know how i finished it, the plot was finding that villain, slow and boring to the point of insane, just shoot me... sorry not sorry but it's not for me.
