For teenage musical prodigy Ophelia Stewart, life couldn’t be better. She has a loving family, a friend who is closer than a sister, and big professional dreams to pursue. But Ophelia’s perfect world is shattered when a disaster claims her parents and forces her into a center for emotionally damaged children where she is required to finish her senior year far from her best friend. Lost and alone, Ophelia tries to cut herself off from connecting with the other young people there, however one of them, Teodore de Luca, refuses to be put off. Breaking through her restraint, the young man insinuates himself into her life, where he becomes her new support system.

What can the future hold for them? Ophelia still has big dreams to pursue. Is there really a place for Teo in them? How can she chose between the man she loves and her passion for music? Can she ever truly commit herself to him? Or is their love destined to be crushed under the weight of her career?

She's done it again,
Author Jude Ouvrard had a managed again to keep me wrapped in my blanket this weekend and reading this lovely story of survival. Love, friendship. And determination, what do you do when you find your self at lost of everything? You just focus in what's important for the time being, then you grow stronger and hang on to what's left. Pick up and try to survive. But can you survive alone?
Author Jude Ouvrard Classic way of writing a story, walked me into Ophelia's life, and I was Taken into the a story of an amazing friendship and love of this 3 young persons, i cried when Ophelia cried and got excited for all that Ophelia was able to accomplish I cry wen she cried and I was happy when she was at her best. Ophelia has suffered the most devastating of blows in her young life. It shapes and defines her into adulthood. She pushes forward to achieve her bucket list with her boyfriend, Teo, and her BFF, Bev, by her side. Through it all, she sees herself weak while others around her see the strength and perseverance. When push comes to shove, does Ophelia have the inner strength to fight for everything her heart and soul desires?

The story is solid and captivating. The characters are flawed and realistic. I wanted more. The only thing I found I disliked about this book was the two words "The End".

Ophelia is a book about loss and love. Ophelia is a pianist, and when coming home from a concert walks into her home to discover her parents murdered. She is reeling from this and ends up in a foster home. There she meets Teo, who breaks through her defenses of that she won't get attached to anyone. She plans to move to California with her best friend Beverly, to escape all the memories of where she has lived all her life. But when Teo implants himself in her heart, he decides to go with them for a chance for all of them to start over.

Fast forward ten years, and Ophelia is living her dream as an accomplished pianist, and plays out her dream at the Sydney Opera House. She is still with Teo, who has been waiting ten years for her to want to settle down and live their lives together forever. Just as things are looking up for them, tragedy strikes again to Ophelia and Teo. Can they forge ahead and salvage what is left after another loss, or will their love for one another forever be altered?

I truly felt for Ophelia when she lost her parents, and the strength she had to still live her life, and make her parents proud. Teo is Ophelia's rock, never wavering in his love for her, and wants to be a better man for her. They complement each other, both drawing strength from the other. Jude does a great job with this love story, showing that life doesn't always go as planned, but sometimes its for the best reasons as to why. This is a love story of first loves, and that through work, you can sustain the love and passion, and during the story their love only grows stronger for one another. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

The moment I've read the synopsis, I was intrigued thinking that this one is surely to be a story with heartbreaks. And well, it is!

Ophelia is a music prodigy. At a young age, she is already well known in the industry. But she will be known by others after a tragedy has struck her family. From a simple and happy life, her life takers turn for the worst. She stayed strong through all of this. She survived.

Well, there are two people who helped her move on. First is her best friend Beverly. One of the most loyal book bestfriend. She is ready to alter her life for her bestfriend. Then comes, Teo. He is the person whom Ophelia relied to the most after being transferred from home.

The story. It started in a fast-phased way which made me pause for a bit. Too fast for my own taste especially how Ophelia and Teo's relationship started and eventually progress. It seems like one day they finally spoke to each other then they are going out. I want more!

The heartbreaking part. Ugly cry! Just when Ophelia's life seems to be going good, another tragedy struck. :( But with this, she has finally got the chance to fully heal.

After reading the whole story, I finally understand why the story is phased on that way. It is not meant to be too long and too detailed. It is meant to be short and memorable.

To Jude, thank you for sharing Ophelia's story. Sorry for posting this just now.

This was a difficult story for me. I loved the friendships. The writing is very lyrical and easy to get swept along. The pain was palpable.
Where it fell apart for me was the situation and life Ophelia creates for herself. She came across as immature, whiny and selfish. Even ten years down the line I wanted to reach in the book and shake her! She is unable to move past the loss of her parents and causes so much pain and heartbreak. How can she say she loves when she holds so much of herself back?
Teo, while not even close to perfect, is a damn saint. As is Beverly. To have changed absolutely everything in their lives to be there for Ophelia is nothing short of amazing. What I would’ve liked to see was more give and take, building their life instead of just Ophelia’s.
The very real threat of losing what should’ve always mattered most is what finally knocks Ophelia out of her selfish fugue. There is a beautiful growth in her character that redeems the story.

This book grabbed me right from the start. It throws you right in to the heart of things from the start gate an never let you go. There are so many emotions to have come at you in such a short time. I love how much was packed in to this short story. The delivery of the story was amazing it didn't feel like it was rushed or that too much as being pushed at you.

Ophelia has been through so much in her life. She has made a promise to herself and is sticking to it. Teodore came in to Ophelia life when she needs him the most and he is her rock even when she doesn't know it. He is amazing and shows her just how much she is needed in this world.

This was an amazing and emotional read that you can't put down.

This story really puts the reader through the emotional wringer but it is so worth it. I won't lie and there were definitely times I wanted to reach into the book and give Ophelia a sturdy shake and scream "open your eyes!" But of course what kind of a story would it be if everything went smoothly? When it comes right down to it, this is a tale of not always getting where you wanted to go or how you planned to get there but ending up where you belong anyway. Another great read by Jude Ouvrard and if she isn't already on your "authors to watch for list" this will certainly earn her place there. I know she's been on mine since I read Under the Sun.

A story of a broken woman with a shaky past and her prince coming to save her. It is a fairytale in every sense of the world with of course a modern twist. Ophelia has been shrouded in darkness thanks to her past and Teo is a beautiful light pretty much come to save her. Jude has written a gorgeous tale of strength and love!

A very well written story. I enjoyed Ophelia's journey of love, healing and endurance: an emotionally turbulent ride involving many obstacles to overcome. All of the characters, especially Ophelia and Teo, are very multi-dimensional and complex, which only enriches the plot and their struggles.

I highly recommend this book. You will have a hard time putting it down!

Ophelia a book of loss and love. Ophelia is a pianist, and when coming home from a concert she walks into her home and discover her parents murdered. She ends up in a psychiatric hospital then she ends up in a foster home instead if living with her best friend Bev. At the foster home she meets Teo, who breaks through her that she won't get attached to anyone. She plans to move to California with her best friend Beverly, to escape all the memories . Teo plants himself in her heart, so he decides to go with them for a chance for them to start over.

Ten years later, Ophelia got her dream as an accomplished pianist, she gets her dream to play at the Sydney Opera House. She is with Teo, who has been waiting ten years for Ophelia to settle down and their lives together. Just as things were looking up for them, tragedy strikes Ophelia and Teo. What is left after another loss, will their love for one another be forever altered?

I loved Ophelia, the strength she showed after her parents died and she had to continue living her life, it was something very rare. You could see that everything she did was to make her parents proud of who she was. The relationship between Teo and Ophelia was so special. He does everything he can to help her, to be there for her when she needs him. You could see how strong of a bond they have with each other. The author did a great job in telling this story about how life can change in an instant but there is reasons why that the characters don’t understand initially. The story is very solid and captivating. The characters are flawless I would recommend this book to all my book friends and family. I loved reading this book and can’t wait until she releases the next book in this series.

3.5 Stars!!

Ophelia, still in high school, is getting ready to start her life with a bright future as a pianist. Well, until her world is thrown into such turmoil that she doesn't recognize it or who she is anymore. This story is about how she lives, gets through life.

Ophelia is lucky enough to have a best friend and a young man that love her very much. They stick by her while she deals with the cards life had dealt her. Jude Ouvrard's writing is very lyrical and the storyline was interesting and heartbreaking. I enjoyed the story very much.

While reading, I felt that there was a lot of telling and not showing. I wanted to get into Teo and Ophelia's life more. See more of Ophelia playing the piano like she did with the neighbor girl, and bond with her best friend. The scenes we did have were amazing, and allowed me to connect so much to the journey. I honestly, really loved Teo. I wanted so much more of him.

I actually ended up reading the version from Amazon (got it while it was free), and saw that it still needed some editing.

I would definitely read more of Jude's work, she has a great style and I love the storyline. Romance, tragedy, healing, more tragedy, and healing for real. Loved it.

This is a great example of a book that has a tremendous amount of potential but just doesn't fully get there.

Ophelia is a piano prodigy who after witnessing a horrible tragedy is placed in a center for emotionally damaged children where she meets Teo. Teo, also a damaged teen, and Ophelia become very close and when she decides to move to California with her best friend, Teo tags along. As time passes Ophelia focuses more and more on her piano career which includes taking her countries and locations far from Teo. The majority of the story focuses on Ophelia's struggle to have the career she loves while also fitting in the man she loves.

From the blurb I was under the impression that we would get to see this beautifully supportive and healing relationship form between two broken young people. Sadly this is not what we got. There was very little of the plot spent on Ophelia and Teo while in the center before the story skipped ahead several years. This lack of character development early on was really hard to get past. I felt no connection to either character and the jumps in time just made it even harder.

I could see and appreciate the story that the author was trying to tell and while it just wasn't for me it may work for you.

Ophelia Stewart had her perfect life taken from her when she was 17 years old when her parents were murdered. She endured a lot of emotions but was able to get control of everything slowly with help. While spending a few months in foster care she meets Teodore De Luca who helps to keep her safe from her nightmares.

When Ophelia and long-time best friend, Beverly, decide to move to San Diego along with Teo the three have a great friendship with more blooming between Teo and Opehlia. But unfortunately as time goes on and Ophelia chases her dream as a piano player across the world the two drift apart. When tragedy strikes will Teo and Ophelia be able to keep their love alive or is the pain to great?

I really enjoyed this book and felt so bad for Ophelia and what she went through when her parents died. She had so much to get over before she could give herself to someone else with the possibility of losing them at some point.

Teo was so determined to make Ophelia happy but he knew that he couldn't continue with her half way around the world and away from her. He made a super difficult decision and I felt so bad for what he endured.

I loved the stability of Beverly and her family and what they offered to Ophelia. It was neat to see how much they influenced Opehlia's life without her even knowing it.

Such a great book and I can't wait to see what is next!

I absolutely loved the story line of this book, this is what kept me reading.
Sadly I kept getting sidetracked by a whole slew of typos, reposted parts of the same sentence etc etc.
For me that was a big annoyance and I am not even an Englisch native speaker, im Dutch. (This is why there are only 2 stars)
Since I had another book of this same author I was wondering if all her work is flawed like this but I could not have been more wrong.
I read Body, Ink and Soul yesterday and I need to get my hands on the rest of that series.
So...im guessing this book, Ophelia, was her first or her editor didnt really do a great job.
Eitherway, I loved what I was able to read of her work so far, she has the abillity to write a story that grans and only Lets go once you are finished reading.

Ophelia is such a strong person, and Teo is her backbone and anchor. I can't imagine living through a situation like what she found with her parents murder. As a foster parent I can understand some of what she would have gone through in the system and it's heartbreaking.
I loved reading about how she grew and how Teo was there for her no matter what.
You will read this story and you will learn and grow with them as well.
A total tear jerker and totally worth it!
