The structure of this book is different from Spike Lee’s first book about the behind-the-scenes process of his debut feature film, She’s Gotta Have It. The latter contains Spike’s interview with Nelson George, the screenplay, and almost two years worth of his daily journal entries from scene ideas to the struggles on funding the film, whereas this one is filled with the screenplay and memorable behind-the-scenes stories from Spike, cinematographer Ernest Dickerson, and others from the cast and crew with filmmaking tips tied in here and there. So much went into making this film. To go from a small cast and a low budget for his debut film to leapfrog to a huge production like this for his second film...Spike is amazing.
