Monster is the second book in K.T. Rose’s Trish series, and it leans hard into survival and secrets. It’s dark and unsettling, exploring motherhood, and how far someone will go to protect the life they’ve created.
I liked the first book better than this one as it had more action in my opinion but this one is still a five star read for different reasons. I found this book had more insight into the life of a suburban vampire.
Trish has spent hundreds of years blending in as the perfect suburban wife and mom. No one suspects that behind the friendly smiles and quiet neighborhood life, she’s a vampire barely keeping her darker instincts under control. When something goes wrong and Trish leaves behind a loose end, named Victoria. It is clear that Trish's secret is no longer a secret. Victoria shows up and makes things a lot worse for Trish.
Neighbors start growing suspicious, her husband beginning to doubt her, and Victoria won’t stop until she gets answers, Trish’s carefully built life is at risk. As danger closes in from all sides, she’s forced to make an impossible choice. Expose who she really is and/or lose the family she’s desperate to protect.
