MONSTER QUEEN ALPHA Book 6 of the Convergence SeriesFrom trailer trash elf to Monster Queen—every title comes with a price.
I'd been running from monsters for so long, I'd forgotten what it was like to stand still.
Working as a nanny for a former dragon king isn't smart, but the pay is too good to refuse. All I have to do is survive three days before my charm wears off and the dragons turn on me.
Too bad it's suicidal to argue with a dragon...
But when my past catches up with me in the form of an armored monster I once commanded, I realize my greatest threat isn't what's hunting me—it's what I'll become when I stop running.
Monster Queen Alpha is a novella featuring a tough-as-nails southern elf with a traumatic past, a former dragon king with unexpected depth, and the monster she never thought she'd see again. Expect action, romance, and found family in this urban fantasy adventure set in a world where magic and technology collide.
No explicit content, standalone novella in the Convergence series. For fans of feel good, family friendly fantasy.
With dark elves hunting her family, a former fighting pit monster seeking her out, and a dragon king offering protection with strings attached, Dixie Jones must decide whether to keep running or finally stand and fight—not just for herself, but for the makeshift family she never expected to find.
I'm a stay at home mom with three kids, a dog and an active imagination. I spent the first 34 years of my life in Alaska, land of the midnight sun, but these days I'm located in Washington, and am enjoying a much warmer sun :) I'm married to my high school sweetheart, John, who is known to bring me flowers "just because".
My leisure time is filled with gardening, crochet, knitting, sewing, art and reading.
At least these are quick books but on the flip side I feel like I paid too much for such short stories. But I didn't enjoy them as much so glad they were short? Its a double edged sword.
No highlights for this one, it was ok. I liked Dixie and thought it was a good end to this series but ultimately pretty bland? Not sure that was the word for this one. Maybe I am just disillusioned now and am completely biased. At least this wasn't riddled with inconsistencies (that I could tell) and no attempt at a love match (just lots of hinting).
Sure, it was heart breaking about her past and the Dark Elves, seems like they all have hard luck stories. Anyway- moving on and may not come back for this series that unfortunately I had to purchase as they are not on kindle unlimited... Loved the Goblin General though! Even if it did lead me here.
August Dawn’s Monster Alpha Queen is a decent addition to the Convergence Series, but it didn’t quite land with the same weight as some of the earlier books. The short story format works fine, and Dixie’s affinity with monsters is an interesting trait. Her connection with the former Dragon King Shozan has promise—but it felt like just the surface was scratched.
There’s clearly more to explore in their dynamic, and I kept waiting for a deeper dive that never quite came. The story moves along well enough, but I missed the complexity that were more present in the first few books.
Overall, it’s an okay read—nothing groundbreaking, but not bad either. If you’re already invested in the series, it’s worth picking up. Just don’t expect it to hit the same highs as the earlier entries.
I loved this book! I can't wait for more of these books!
I loved it. It gave me an insight to what Dixie goes through during Breaker's Ruin and also gives a back story to her and what she went through. We meet her family and a little of how she had become who she is. This book is also set at the same time as Breaker's ruin so it has a little part that story in this book to explain a part in this one. I love the main characters Dixie and Shozan. The way they interact from the beginning. Dixie is a kick ass Elf and Shozan is the retired Dragon King. Shozan hires Dixie to look after Shozan's adopted boys and Daisy's brothers in the stone quarry city.
I can't wait to see what comes next in this series and I hope to see more of Dixie and Shozan in it!
2 1/2 stars. I liked the character of Dixie Jones who was very competent in fighting monsters and I liked the character of the dragon. What I didn't like so much was that they didn't really have any time together and then they were supposedly in love. This was not a instalust situation. They don't fall into bed immediately and in fact it is completely clean. I was looking for more of a build for a relationship.
Didn't realize this one was about a third, the size of the other books, although half of this story we got peeks of at the end of the dragon story. Anyway, it was nice to meet her siblings. And see where everything unfolded in the quarry.
