One broken warrior. One defiant spy. A deadly mission with one trust each other or die.
Captured and stranded near the hostile city of Ignarath, Drakarn warrior Zarvash and human intelligence officer Vega Cross must rely on each other to survive. Their mission? Infiltrate the enemy city where humans are enslaved and warriors fight in savage arena battles. Their cover? Master and slave.
The roles are fake. The bond awakening between them is all too real.
As they fight side by side—Zarvash in the blood-soaked tournament, Vega in the shadows of a brutal alien city—their connection deepens into something fierce and undeniable. But when their secret is uncovered, and Vega faces death in the arena, Zarvash must risk everything to claim the woman who’s become his fated mate.
Fans of possessive alien heroes, kick-butt heroines, and fated mates romance will devour this action-packed sci-fi love story.
The fiercely independent human warrior Vega meets her match in seven feet of Drakarn male Zarvash. When they find themselves in enemy territory together, they must fight to the death to remain alive long enough to attempt a daring rescue of humans being held captive for blood sport.
Another winning story in the Drakarn warrior series by Kate Rudolph. Lots of action and very steamy moments between Vega and Zarvath.
I was fortunate to have received an advance reader copy from the author and booksprout, and I’m sharing my honest review.
This is book 5 in the Drakarn mates series. Each book reveals a bit more information than the last but leaves you with more questions than answers. This world is harsh and unforgiving no place feels truly safe there are just degrees of safety. This book picks up after the fight in the desert that leaves Zarvash yarn Vega captured and dragged through enemy territory. Zarvash for the mist part is okay but I still wanted to punch him for what he did in the first few books. And lord help me I just cou!dnt bring myself to !one Vega. I understood her loyalty and her desire to protect, rescue and help her fellow humans , what I didn't like or respect was her blatant disregard for everyone and everything else. 99% of the time her recklessness end up hurting someone else. Instead of truly planning she ran into danger thought she was helping and then landed in worse situations. I think Zarvash and Vega were ment to be and that the deserved one another. The story was action packed and what has happened to more of the humans is reveals but I honestly had a love hate relationship with the main characters . I'm actually looking forward to the next book these characters look compelling. 💖🔥🌟💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥🌟💖🔥🌟
Vega’s plan to infiltrate the enemy Drakarn city has gone awry, and now she is forced to work with Zarvash, posing as his slave. She is intense in her hatred of all Drakarn, so how is it that an injured yet still-a-warrior Zarvash changes things? This book starts off a bit chaotic, a bit in the middle of the action (since it took me a bit to remember what had happened in the previous book) but the intense energy between these two drew me in. This series keeps ramping up in intensity and I am loving it. An exciting read.
Vega and Zarvash are two characters that are not easy to like. Vega’s usual mode is going off half cocked and doing many TSTL things. Zarvash is driven by politics and how much power he could derive from a situation.
That said, Vega’s underlying drive is the need to protect. She and other humans have crash landed on an inhospitable planet with beings that think that humans are not worthy of being alive nor treated with much respect. Another human is suffering from not knowing what has happened to her sister and it’s become Vega’s focus so she doesn’t have to think too hard about the situation that they are all facing with trying to make a life in a place that will kill you without a qualm.
Zarvash doesn’t like the fragility of humans and feels that protecting them shows a weakness in Scalvaris. However, somewhere along the way something happened to make him change his mind from his initial treachery with Orla(human) and Rath to him assisting Khorlar in his defense of Hawk(human).
When Vega and Zarvash are captured and are being taken to Ignarath to be sold they have to join forces to escape. Their skill sets are put to the test to see how they can get info on whether there are other humans within Ignarath and how to get them out and back to Scalvaris safely.
This story is a bit more gritty as we get to see the dirty underbelly of Ignarath and how they live. Every move you make could get you thrown into the gladiator pits or just disappeared without a trace. This is also the first time that Vega admits that she reacts without thinking things through. Zarvash respect grows for the tenacity of humans and despite their soft skin their ability to take abuse but still keep going.
Vega and Zarvash are both attracted and repelled to each due to their natural distrust. These two are well matched as they are able to recognize the other for who and what they are.
I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
Drakarn warrior Zarvash woke in total darkness, unable to move and in pain. He was tied down, his wings bent and twisted. He spit out the blood he tasted in his mouth. He heard two males talking, planning to sell him but saying the human female was useless and wouldn’t survive. When he scented human intelligence officer Vega Cross next to him, however, his body recognized her as his! He had to save her. But he fell unconscious. Waking again, there were 4 Ignarath captors guarding them. By working together they were able to take them down. They had no idea where they were, but a nasty something seemed to be waiting to attack them, so they headed away. She knew he had wounds that needed treatment, but he would not admit to being injured. She threatened half his insides would be on the outside if he did not let her do what she could for him. The enemy had badly damaged his wing and it was infected, so she cleaned it as well as she could.
It would take over a month or longer to walk to Scalvaris and he wasn’t able to fly. So Zarvash decided they should go into the Ignarath enemy camp and find out if they plan war or discover any other important information against them. She was uncomfortable over her reactions to the dragon. She hoped it was terror, but feared she was actually attracted to him. Just watching him eat a small piece of jerky made her shiver. Their plan once they get to Ignarath was to pretend to participate in the arena battles. And now both of them are aware of their connection. When they are discovered and Vega faces death in the arena, will Zarvash be able to rescue his mate?
Chained to the Champion completely won me over. I’ve read many of Kate Rudolph’s books, so I’m not sure how I missed this series. (Maybe I was put off by the enemies-to-lovers theme). But from the first few pages, I was hooked.
Even without reading the first four books, I had no trouble jumping straight into the action. The world of Ignarath is harsh, brutal, and brilliantly described. So immersive that I didn’t even realize I’d skipped previous installments until I was nearly at the end. That’s a testament to Kate's world-building and storytelling skill. She crafts vivid, gritty settings with just the right amount of emotional weight and high-stakes tension.
What really pulled me in, though, was the chemistry between Vega and Zarvash. Despite their differences, species, mission, and temperament, they just fit from the very beginning. Their connection feels natural, forged under extreme circumstances, and their emotional bond grows in a way that feels earned rather than forced. It wasn’t just about survival; it became about trust, loyalty, and ultimately love.
The dynamic between them walks the line between danger and desire, with enough action, intrigue, and emotional depth to keep me turning pages late into the night. I especially appreciated that Vega is no damsel—she’s sharp, capable, and as essential to the mission as Zarvash.
If you enjoy sci-fi romance with strong, possessive alien heroes, smart and gutsy heroines, and intense emotional payoff, Chained to the Champion is absolutely worth the read.

He was forged to fight. She was never meant to survive him.
Vega (h) wakes in chains beside a winged alien built for war. Her only goal is escape. But surviving means working with Zarvash (H), a silent, lethal gladiator who sees more in her than just a prisoner. Their captors want blood. The arena wants submission. Trust is the last thing either of them should give.
Through fights, betrayal, and a growing connection, the danger only increases. Vega’s loyalty is torn between her people and the warrior who protects her like she’s the only thing that matters. Zarvash starts to question everything he thought he was fighting for. At the center of Ignarath’s empire is a truth neither of them can ignore.
What starts as a survival pact shifts into something deeper. Rage gives way to loyalty. Pain becomes connection. Their bond is built in blood, not promises. In a world built to break them, they choose each other anyway.
Zarvash and Vega both change. He becomes more than a weapon. She becomes more than a survivor. Their relationship moves from mistrust to something real, forged through shared fights, hard choices, and moments they never expected.
A high stakes, steamy, dark, alien-human, enemies to lovers, gladiator, sci-fi action romance, exploring connection, survival, trust, identity, power, resilience, freedom, alliance, transformation, rebellion, found family, and a bond that rises from wreckage.
Captivating reading with wonderful characters and plot that keeps you totally riveted Vega has been captured and finds herself chained to a winged alien that is specifically built for war, they are partnered as a gladiator of sorts that is able to recognise the ability she has to fight alongside each other. In the arena they want to see blood and submission and the pair have to learn to trust each other but the danger increases and the warrior wants to protect her and this is when Zarvash begins to query what he was actually fighting for. At the center of Ignarath’s empire is a truth neither of them can ignore and their bond of trust that is built on blood and fighting side by side the realise that they will not allow anyone to break them they chose each other. Their relationship begins to evolve again and she is able to see that he is a stable force in her life and can be trusted and she will fight alongside her gladiator no matter what. This is an exciting read, it is a dark and alien-human read where there are lovers and enemies, the sci-fi action is strong and the importance of freedom and alliance and rebellion and the bond knew they could always trust each other no matter what. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

'But as the night bled towards dawn, as the arena sounds died to an echoing, waiting silence, a traitorous part of me hoped. Against logic. Against survival instinct. Hoped he'd come. Hoped he'd fight. Hoped he'd win. Hoped that look, that possessive fury, meant something after all.'
I really loved this book. It was such a fun, exciting adventure! I loved both Zarvash and Vega. The story was fast-paced and I was hooked to the start as these two were already captured, injured, and had to rely on each other to survive- Zarvash more disciplined and Vega more unpredictable and wild. I loved the dynamic between them and how they believed in and trusted each other. The
'In the shadows of the corridor, in the Master's view but out of his hearing, I leaned close. A threatening posture. My whisper hissed against her ear, low, venomous promise.' “We're going to gut them all.”
The story was suspenseful and dangerous. And the chemistry between these two warriors only burned hotter. My favorite book in the series so far.
I can't wait for Omvar's book. The romantic in me hoped there was something between Omvar and Asif, but being Asif is male, I knew we wouldn't get a mm romance, unfortunately, and his future mate would be one of the females. But a girl can dream.
I really enjoyed this book. its well written, has a great plot that flows well from detail to detail in a cohesive manner with a fast flow. Lots of exciting happenings, danger, suspense, discovery, determination, strength and much more. Vega a human female who crashed on this world and hates the drakarn, the dragon style creatures who rescued them and who they are now living with. she vows to never trust or fall for one like so many other human females. She is very strong alpha female who used to be a soldier. she is determined to find other humans fromt he crashed ship and will let nothing stand in her way to the point that she takes foolish risks and jumps before thinking. zarvash is a drakarn warrior who is the head strategist and he and vega must go under cover to find humans in a den of vipers who will kill for fun and loyalty is non existent. can they work together to find and rescue any humans? will they survive the place of death, squalor, betrayal and whims of a madman?. and what happens when feelings start to develop between two ppl who wanted nothing to do with the others kind and only had hate between them?

Chained to the Champion follows the story of Vega and Zarvash. The characters are fabulously written and beautifully executed throughout the story. I absolutely LOVED getting to know both Vega and Zarvash as well as seeing their story unfolding through the pages of this amazing book. The chemistry between these two characters is undeniably irresistible and absolutely breathtaking. The story is captivating from start to finish, entertaining and an absolute pleasure to read. I found myself not wanting to set my phone down until I read the last page. This novel has a fantastic plot, wonderful characters and a phenomenal ending for the main characters. Chained to the Champion is amazingly written, well balanced and phenomenally executed by Kate Rudolph. She continues to showcase what a phenomenal author she is with each book I’ve read by her so far. I’m looking forward to see what her next book will be about. If you’re looking for a new alien romance novel to read, then you should checkout and give Chained to the Champion a read.

Chained to the Champion is book five and another thrilling Sci-Fi adventure of Drakarn and Human bonding tied up with intrigue, suspense, and action. When leads Zarvash and intelligence officer Vega take up an unsanctioned mission to infiltrate the enemy city of Ignarath, there to find enslaved humans and warriors forced to fight to the death in the cities arena a sizzling dangerous adventure soon unfolds. Loved the tough Vega and always enjoy when a warrior is made humble by an unexpected mate bond as amongst duty and staying alive these two manage to navigate the one growing between them. Enjoyed the excellent writing, characters, and storyline that has become a hallmark for me of this wonderful series as I join each new couples exciting, and passionate journey that immerses me right along with them. HEA.

Great addition to this series This is a fantastic series continuing the story of human women who have crash landed on a hot desolate and unforgiving planet with two suns blazing heat and death waiting at every turn when they encounter the fierce winged Drakarn, some who want nothing to do with these strange alien women, and others who are struck by their mating urge. Each additional book also has its own stand-alone focus on a different pairing. I wouldn’t have thought to pair these two particular MCs however they just seem to mesh. And what an adventure they have. This book has great world building and exceptionally presented characters. Each book in this series keeps adding to the depth with enough unsolved mysteries that keeps you hanging for the next instalment. Scorched by Fate is the fifth book in the Drakarn Mates series. Like the previous stories it contains humor, chaos, action and Drakarn aliens, a hot atmosphere and a challenging world. And let’s not forget the steamy romance. Only this time they are in enemy territory and the danger is tenfold. Drakarn warrior Zarvash and human intelligence officer Vega Cross must rely on each other to survive. They are on a deadly mission with one rule: trust each other or die. But can learn to trust before it is to late! Kate Rudolph has created a fascinating world, with interesting characters and provided them with wonderful adventures. I truly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy romances.

Spying As A Slave Zarvash and Vega are captured at the fight at the end of Fated to the Drakarn Commander and have to work together to get out of their predicament and learn about other humans in captivity, even when their earlier encounters were not very friendly, to put it mildly. But being in such proximity, unwanted feelings started to rise. Another Drakarn-human couple is born. Fearless Vega makes it very difficult for Darkarn to keep her safe in the extremely hostile city of Ignarath, where they find unexpected help. Keeping up with the other books in this series, it has a lot of action, surprises and steamy scenes. Loved it! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was another gripping read for the series and I loved the character growth for both Zarvash and Vega. Vega is a fierce intelligence office that looks to protect others. Zarvash doesn't think much of these 'weak' beings. However, on their quest to find enslaved humans and warriors, they find themselves having to work together to survive. These two go through so much that they find connection through the hard arena fights, pain and tough choices. Their bond becomes unbreakable and it was fab to see her realize she was more than a survivor and he was more than a weapon. Expect to get caught up in the action, danger, intrigue, suspense and steam as they work their way to a fab HEA. Well done!
So if you haven’t read the other Drakarn books in this series it probably won’t be quite as satisfying, won’t make quite as much sense, but you could do it…And it would be a great story…. Having said that this “episode” of the humans and the Drakarns on Volkaryth??? EPIC!!! More fighting, more struggling, more drama, more passion, more struggles…more victories…Just MORE!!!! It’s REALLY good….. The passion that Zarvash and Vega have…for their causes, their fights…for each other…. Is so amazing… Kate really embeds the reader in this story…. The grit…. The blood…. All of it…. Just start reading and hang on tight😬😳😍🔥🤗🥰.

An enticing and exciting fate bond forged in the heat of Volcaryth. I do recommend reading the previous books as there is a strong overarching plot through the books. Zarvash awakens bruised and incapacitated to the scent of his “veshari”. Having been captured by the Ignarath, Vega must try and trust Zarvash as they face survival together. Action packed read as they are forced to survive those who want to destroy, give in to their sizzling chemistry, and ultimately fight for their love. This is such an absorbing series by Kate Rudolph. Can’t wait for the next!

This couple is the definition of enemies to lovers. They did not trust at any turn. The underlaid story is how they get in away from home and taken unawares. It is not nice location and they have to trust in order to get home. But somehow that intense touch and reality of fate takes over. Made my jaw drop and brow raise for the realization of the means of getting home. This adventure takes them behind the opponent's lair and faking it is becoming blurred lines!! Adventure, suspense, Vega getting under Zarvash and our skin. Love it!.

Book 5 of Drakarn Mates story for Drakarn warrior Zarvash and human intelligence officer Vega Cross. This one was just as entertaining as all that came before, this story holds humans willing to sacrifice everything for freedom and fight for their lives with the help of unlikely alien helpers. The two characters in this action packed danger around every page kept me guessing what would happen next and turning the pages to find out. Truly an entertaining story to read.

-This steamy, action-packed alien romance blends danger with deep emotion. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Human intelligence agent Vega and Drakarn warrior Zarvash must trust each other—or die trying—in enemy territory. Enemies to lovers, found family, and fierce battles keep the tension high. A thrilling, well-written addition to a standout sci-fi romance series. A story in a dark world but worth the enjoyable nonetheless.
A great addition to the series, I love the story. Stubborn heroine and Alpha male. Vega used to be a spy before the human crashed on Scalvaris, a hell planet. She doesn't trust the Drakarn at all. Then she finds that she must rely on Zarvash a warrior to survive. Zarvash and Vega end up stranded in a hostile city and must rely on each other to survive. They fight the attraction they feel for the other. Can they survive?.

Entertaining story with fun action and danger. Plus, a sweet and spicy romance! Enjoyed the chemistry between Zarvash and Vega. Not huge on the scenario of them having to act like they are master and slave, but at least it wasn’t the real scenario in this romance. Vega can be a bit annoying; she acts before thinking, but she’s willing to go above to help others. This isn’t quite an enemies to more scenario, but there are some fun elements that are similar. They don’t quite see eye to eye, but they need to work together to help others and survive. Overall, an interesting read!
Fast paced from page 1. They go undercover as master and slave to infiltrate the brutal city of Ignarath in search of info about the other humans. Vega tough-as-nails and refuses to be anyone’s victim. Zarvash, all about strategy and control, tries to keep his distance—as they fight to survive their bond becomes the only become stronger.
If you love gladiator-style action, fated mates, and strong heroines paired with emotionally intense alien warriors, this book will ruin you in the best way.
Zarvash woke up tied up, his wing wounded and in pain, caught and being discussed like he was little more than a cheap prize. This is book 5 in the Drakarn Mates series. A great read, and if you’ve read the others, you would see why this book is significant in what happens, after the incidents from previous stories. Book characters, plot and backgrounds are 5 stars, absolutely loved it! I’d grab this story and the rest of the series and enjoy!.

This book tells the story between Zarvash and Vega. I had the chance to devour the first four book in this series and I was waiting quite impatiently for this to come out. It was so good that I ended up reading the entire book in a single sitting. This book has twists and turns, intense emotions and plenty of heat to keep you happy. Excellent read.

Chained to the Champion Book 5 of Drakarn Mates by Kate Rudolph is the first book I've read in the series and I didn't feel lost at all. The fight for humans to survive Ignarath is getting deadly. This is a dark, tense, and vicious story of survival and finding allies on an alien world. Fated mates who are both warriors can create a lot of tension and suspicion. Will they survive working together? Is it possible to get the information needed to save the few remaining humans without being slaughtered?

Vega and Zarvash have to figure out how to work together without dieing or killing each other in a place that would love to rip them to bits! A savage enemies to lovers with just a hint of just desserts. I have loved every single book of this series and find myself chomping at the bit for the next.
