Can you imagine a world where the State rules the landscape gobbling up all freedom of its citizens? Discover that world in Progtopia.

A dark world seeks a glimmer of hope in Eula McGrevey's riveting futuristic thriller, Progtopia.

In the year 2032, home schooling and religious schools have been banned, and technology has made facial recognition and drone spies part of every day life. But thirteen-year-old Camille, on the run from the authorities, manages to evade them with the help of an ex-CIA agent who has secrets of his own. When the duo stumbles across the existence of Project Renaissance, a top-secret plan endorsed by the president, they do everything they can to stop it—but are they too late?

In the year 2172, the Giving Class runs the world while the Recipient Class lives to serve them, but is forbidden from marrying, reproducing, or even mingling with the opposite sex.

With books and religion banned, people's main form of entertainment is an annual event known as The Trials. This televised show allows viewers to vote on whether participants will be sent to reeducation camps...or sentenced to death.

As Progtopia teases out the connection between these two time periods, readers will find themselves swept up in a darkly twisted world that is in desperate need of a hero.

I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway.

This book was an amazing read. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. The story is set in two different time periods, both in the future. The first is set in 2032, a not so distant future, where the rights of American citizens are slowly being taken away in the name of freedom. The government is taking control over every sector of American's lives while they do nothing to stop it from happening. After the government bans religious schools and homeschooling, requiring every child to go to a state-run school, Camille runs away from home. Now she is a fugitive from the government. One hundred and forty years in the future, Thatcher, a member of the Giving class is allowed more freedom over her life than those living in the Recipient class who are told what to do for work, how to eat, where to live, and how to think. Those in the recipient class are denied the freedom to have any contact with the opposite sex, let alone marriage, with the punishment of breaking this law being death. This book brilliantly describes what the future could hold if a nation does not pay attention, or care about, what the government is doing. Progtopia is the new 1984. This book is our generations warning on what big government can do if no one pays attention. I absolutely loved this book and believe all students should read this book as part of their curriculum. Great book.

Progtopia is a distopia which hits really close to home. It is really political and could really happen. The author has a background in history and neuroscience. She took her background and wrote a book to entertain and to educate. It is like so many science fiction stories It takes facts and fiction and makes a great story. The story takes place in two different time periods of the future. In 2032, 13 year old Camille unintentionally helps a top-secret presidential project that will doom society as she knows it. With the help of former CIA agent she attempts to stop the project.

In 2172 - two classes of people are strictly held apart. The Trials are televised where both classes watch and vote on participats being put to death or sent to re-educations camps.

Progtopia looks at both time periods and looks at how we can lose our freedoms and what it could lead to. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the sequels.

Simply WOW! This book was gripping and exciting from start to finish. The characters had tremendous depth and I found myself loving 'the good ones' and almost yelling (literally) at 'the bad ones'. I wish I could start book 2 immediately--but alas, it is not out yet. I will be first in line to get the next book.

What is amazing to myself is that I personally don't read very much fiction (see my Goodreads profile and you will see what section of the bookstore I gravitate towards ;) ), but this book kept me interested. I felt myself hanging on every sentence from the beginning to the end.

It gets 5-stars for keeping a non-fiction guy like me on the edge of my seat all the way through. Highly recommended to anyone looking for an exciting story line with lovable characters you want to root for all day long. Very well done.

Exciting and thought-provoking page turner

The timing of this book's release is perfect as our country gears up for the 2016 presidential elections. Are Americans becoming complacent, careless and blind to the path down which our "chosen leaders" are leading us? Is the choice of candidates we are presented with becoming the selection of the best of two evils? I can't wait to read book 2

I am not typically a fiction reader, but a friend recomended Progtopia & I was sucked in from the very beginning. There were characters I loved- and those I loved to hate. McGrevey knows how to keep the reader engaged. If you like dystopian novels & political thrillers, Progtopia is a must read for you! I was sorry to see it end, but I am glad it is a trilogy.

Progtopia is a book that has you thinking about what rights we have, and what rights we have given up. This book takes you back and forth from the past, when the Government starts restricting rights and controlling the people. To the future where the world is totally controlled by a one world government. Definitely a thought provoking book.
