Here’s A Second Chance Romance….College sweethearts torn apart by a supposed “Best Friend”…Unfortunately, it took this couple several years to reconnect and find their way back to one another. The 2nd read was the newly released audiobook narrated by Winston James & Teri Taylor
Aurora's story did not disappoint. It was just as good as Gianna's. My heart just broke because of all the time Aurora and Zion lost because of that heffa Nina. I really wish she had given him the opportunity to defend himself but, I get it. She could only go off of what was in front of her at the time. I just hate there were no consequences for Nina's actions. Be it an azz whoopin' from Aurora or some kind of civil suit from Zion. She deserved something for that shyt she pulled. Hopefully, it'll come in Sloan's book. I was really holding out for a miracle for Ms. Adriana. Damn! I'm just happy Aurora finally put her stubbornness to the side and let Zion love her. I'm looking forward to Sloan's story. I can't wait to see what's going to go down between her and Jace.
I completely devoured this book in one setting. It was super emotional but also so very good and realistic. I loved Aurora and Zion’s story. Love wins in the end! Awesome read!
When done well, second chances at love are a top pick. I disagree with their mother's decision to conceal her illness and how she handled it. A misunderstanding with her best friend led to the breakup of Aurora and Zion, who had been college sweethearts. Zion was able to earn Aurora's affection once more despite her stubbornness.
The Parker family is back, and this time we're catching up with middle sister, Aurora. A couple of years ago, she caught her boyfriend in bed with her best friend, and hasn't spoken to either one since. An icebox replaced her heart and Aurora has concentrated on her Women's Empowerment podcast, Talk Yo'Shit, Sis.
When an author that she has an issue with, agrees to an interview, Aurora is shocked by the identity of said author. What's even more shocking is the events that occurred after.
Meanwhile, the family is dealing with the matriarch's illness and their individual reactions to it all.
This is my favorite book in the series so far. I highly recommend this 💎💎💎💎💎 book by @_authortaymonae. I hope that you enjoy it as well.
No lie, the last 12 books I’ve read has been Ms Tay Monae and just let me say one thing about her she’s gonna get you in your feels lol. Whew this one was sweet and emotional made me smile and almost shed a tear 🥺 I’m so glad Aurora and Zion found their way back to each other. She clearly never stopped loving him despite what she thought went down. So my question after reading this is where is Sloane’s story I would love to read it.
I loved reading about Aurora and her POV didn’t let me down. Zion came with some truth even I wasn’t ready for. This book had my emotions high and the author did a great job telling the story. I loved it, yes, but an editor is needed.
Aurora was so hurt by Zion’s betrayal that she couldn't even hear him out when she walked away and I didn't blame her until Zion’s truth came out and I was thinking girl you could of saved yourself seven years of heartbreak had you just listened to that man. Zion was a man on a mission though and when his truth came out I was a little shocked, whew beware of a jealous, hatin’ ass woman. Nina deserved to get her ass beat for the stunt she pulled. Poor Aurora was so damaged by Nina’s betrayal she couldn’t even let her best friend in. I was glad Aurora got the truth she needed to move forward with Zion, that man worshipped her flaws and all and he wasn't giving up on them. Aurora did have to let down her guard so she could let Zion back in and love on her like she needed.
Read this in one setting this was my favorite of the two! Aurora is soo out spoken that I love it! I’m glad she didn’t let the past get to her as much is it. Zion was all man! And I’m glad we gotta update on Gigi!
I was definitely in my feelings reading this book. Aurora is one tough cookie she means what she say and she says what she means. Zion love's Aurora and would do anything to be with her. With all that's going on can he get her to listen to him? Always a pleasure🥰.
Sometimes, you can be your own worst enemy. Aurora was so hurt by the betrayal that she didn’t demand answers and I get it. Sometimes what you see is enough. But the anger built a wall that kept her from a love she could’ve had for years.
I also felt for Zion. His determination to win her back the second time around was beautiful, but part of me wished he’d fought sooner. Still, there’s growth in absence, and God’s timing is always perfect.
What I loved most was how this story showed the sisters’ journey coming full circle each of them secure in themselves, their careers, and their relationships.
SIDENOTE (aka “Don’t come for my stars!”): Just a quick heads-up my ratings are based on whether I’d reread the book or add it to my personal collection, not the quality of the story itself. So here’s how I roll:
5 🤩 = I’m obsessed with everything the storyline, the author, and the narrators! I read it yearly and own ALL the copies: physical, digital, and Audible. I can basically recite this book. It lives in my private library. 4 🌟 = Loved the story, the author, and the narrator (if it’s audio). I’d happily reread it when I need a solid comfort read. 3 ✨ = Enjoyed the story, the author, and definitely the narrators. A great addition to my yearly reading challenge likely to revisit if it’s part of a series I need to refresh.
Ms. Mo' Nae I am fully invested in this series. The Parker Sisters have dual characteristics where some are similar and others are different. Aurora had an outspoken personality thus her career fit her perfectly. It was ironic though because although she was outspoken she hid her feelings. She would retract when it was time to bare all or vent especially to the people that loved her. It was a relief when the truth finally revealed itself about what happened in the past between her and Zion. Aurora's revenge was honorable because most women would have taken matters into their own hands. Zion was just the man Aurora lacked in her life. He loved her strong personality. He knew exactly what she preferred and made sure to deliver.
This book is one of healing and forgiveness. I loved the approach the author has taken with these three sisters. My heart 💔 for Mrs. Adrianna, the sisters, and the father. Everyone grieves differently and it was obvious with each sister. I am surprised how Sloane is processing everything that is going on around her. Ms. Mo'Nae I am glad that you resolved a lot of open-ended issues from Gianna's book. It seems this book unlocked a few more that I hope are resolved in Sloane's book. I am awaiting her book to see how each problem concludes.
If you haven't had the chance to get into this series, go for it. Each book gets better and pulls you in a little farther. The series are novellas but Ms. Mo'Nae gives you more than enough to keep you thrilled.
Queen Tay Mo'Nae gave us an emotional second chance at love story. My only disappoint was not witnessing Nina get her karma for the unnecessary drama and heartbreak she caused. My heart broke💔 for the Parker family as a whole, but especially for Mr. Parker and Sloane. Sloane experienced one of the most devastating and exciting days of her life on the same day. Postpartum is a motherfu**er, add on the fact that she lost her mom the same day😢. Not having that support from her mom who was also one of her best friends was devastating😔. I pray she gets the therapy needed. I'm hoping we get to read her and Jace story soon. Jace was a real one💕 Zion was determined to get his girl back by any means necessary and after his boy Randy gave him some advice he took it and it worked in his favor. Aurora finally stepped outside of her hurt and anger and allowed Zion to prove he never willing cheated. These two picked up not they never spent time apart. Granted her losing her mom and allowing Nina's hateful words to get the best of her, which caused her to last out and push Zion away. They were able to work through it.
Ughhh... Aurora was stubborn as hell! I get what you saw, but if you know your man, you should have demanded an explanation on the spot! Not just run away pissed off at the world, and all men! I felt bad for Zion after learning what happened, and his attempts to talk to Aurora all go south! He was/is a good man, who just got caught up in some ish! My heart broke for the entire Parker family as they were dealt with a hard blow! I'm glad that Aurora finally was able to get to the root of her issues/feelings, and accept the love that Zion was freely giving her. Now Miss Sloane! I'm really worried about her! Seems there may be something else going on with her! Hope her book is next! 👍👍👍
TayvMo'Nay I love these Parker sisters. They have so many true sister relationships between them. Aurora seems to be the strongest one of the group but she was the softest one. Having a terrible thing happen to her she had put herself in a place that no one could get in. Watching her come to a calm place. Having her past come back into her life had her spiraling. I love that Zyon was able to find his spot and Aurora seems to finally be at peace. I feel their pain though it is a club I never wanted to be in and by God, this feeling never seems to go away. I hope the next sister is finally able to find herself again. I get it though and you showed how true all these different things are affecting each of them. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Aurora couldn't stand J.Elliott persona not knowing it was her ex-boyfriend. She blamed Zion for their breakup and breaking her heart by sleeping with her best friend. Not knowing it was a setup. Nina a$$ is grimy and jealous of Aurora.Aurora put Nina on blast on her podcast. You would think that Gigi was going to take it hard when their mama died because she's the baby of family, but no Sloan took it the hardest, Aurora snapped on Zion. Zion daddy is getting married that's why he wanted everybody to the house. His pops fiance gave him advice on what to do about Aurora. Their are finally on terms. They never stop loving each other
I liked Aurora and Zion. Their love was interrupted by a jealous friend and sabotage, yet true love always finds it's rightful place.
I hope that Aurora is able to love more openly with Zion. Since they already have history and are now in love as adults, I think things can be beautiful between them, only if she's honest and open.
Zion is such a great man. He's loved Aurora for years and now that they've reconnected as adults, I hope he can learn to love all the things she's become. He's so laid back and patient and I'm sure he'll be her rock and she his as well.
These sisters need each other, so I'm curious as to how Sloane heals.
Of the sisters I probably identify with Aurora the most. My interests were peaked about her and Zion’s story from Gianna’s book. Their story was truly emotional. The hurt the distance the reunion was dramatic and evoked feelings of sadness, anger and understanding for both Aurora and Zion. With all that goodness and entertainment, Adrianna and the family battling this cancer and watching a loved one transition overshadowed everything else for me. Life goes on but nothing else seems to matter when mourning. Good read!
I was so looking forward to Aurora’s story and it was well worth the wait. Although the reason her and Zion broke up was really messed up, I’m glad that once she knew the truth, she didn’t hold it against him and allowed them to reconnect. Nina pissed me off something serious man! I hope her name being exposed brings that karma back around to her. My heart also broke for the family with the death of their mother and I’m sure we’ll continue to see the lasting effects in the last installment with Sloane.
One thing I’ve appreciated with this series is that I’m always looking forward to the next sister’s story. I feel like with each installment, there’s something about the next sister that makes you intrigued to keep reading and I really like that.

Sigh. Okay without giving anything away, I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more. There was a brief moment of anger (Nina) but in the end love won.
I enjoyed Aurora’s story. She certainly captured my attention in Gianna’s book, so I was excited to learn about what makes her tick in her own debut. Zion & Aurora are the example of “if you love something let it go…” This is an endearing read, filled with love across the relationship spectrum. Also SHOUTOUT TO JACE!
The overall tone of the book was sadness. Unfortunately, it just hung like a dark cloud over the book. As much as Ms. Mo’Nae’s tried to lighten the book with a bit of laughter here and there it did not work. The grief was real and present throughout the entire story. It did not help that Aurora was stern, mean , angry and bitter. She wore her anger and bitterness like a piece of clothing. Just slow and depressing. Her friend Nina was right about her and the way she treated Zion was atrocious:
Zion and Aurora were meant to be. They may have lost time together but Aurora was never going to believe him without proof - shame he didn't figure that out sooner. Ooh, I hate the nickname Dollface, though! I love Zion being a podcast guest; it adds another point of view and showcases that you can be a strong, independent woman and still find love. The editing certainly went downhill in this installment, especially towards the end. I enjoyed this sister's story though.
I immediately fell in love with Aurora in Gianna's book. I live for a FMC that EXUDES positivity. I wish "Pop Yo Shit, Sis" was a real podcast because I would deff be a fan. Buttttt back to the couple. I liked Zion for Aurora. He was the perfect missing piece to help her get back intouch with her softer side. Nina was a trifling dirtyyyyyyy mutha trucker & I'm all for Gianna two piecing her ass. My heart broke teal tears for Ms. Adrianna & then even more for Sloane. But Zion was there shouldering thru & supporting his woman. Even when times got hard & her dad wanted to knock his head off. He had to learn the balance of giving her space & still being there for her. I can tell by how withdrawn Sloane was towards the end of the book that her book is going to be hard 💔
Enjoyed the Love Story of Aurora & Zion. I will definitely recommend this story. I took a chance after reading the story of Gianna and was not disappointed. The audiobook was a good listen as the narrators did a good job in bringing the story forward. I was happy that after several years of being angry with Zion, they were able to really settle and rekindle the love with a happy ending. Sad that the mom passed away in this story and hope to hear more about the Parker Sisters. Well done 10/10⭐️⭐️.
The scene from Aurora party, played out for us,was one for the books. Aurora trusted blindly and it caused her to lose someone close her heart.
On top of all that, the family is dealing with the illness of the mother. I'm happy Zion, decided to get the truth of what to him back in college and that was the key to unlock the lost love he and Aurora had. Also death, brought about a new life.
I figured the mom would get worse and honestly I felt the one who took it the hardest was exactly who it was.I loved they show real emotion and feelings .Aurora did get on my nerves but she had the right to feel how she felt but I wanted her to release that anger and pain ..I’m happy Gianna is so happy but I’m ready to read about Sloane even though she is married the things she is dealing with is a lot of women story so I’m ready ..Great writing and series 10 ⭐️
This book was well written and definitely kept my attention. Aurora finally found out the truth about what happened with Zion and Nina and was able to forgive him. Karma is a B, but I would have had to help it out when it came to Nina. The scene with the mother dying was quite emotional and I hate that Sloan couldn’t handle it. I can’t wait to read her story.
