Luna

I was raised poor and the only thing I had going for me was my looks. My fiance had the same low opinion of me which is why he never bothered to give me anything real: not my ring, not the gifts, and not his heart. Graham Dessault is another rich man and I should stay away from him because I’ve learned the hard way that all that glitters isn’t gold.

Graham

Luna’s the one for me. I knew it the minute I picked her up and carried her out of the bakery. It didn’t matter to me that she was engaged, that she had a bad experience with other guys, that she was reluctant to start a new relationship. None of that mattered. Only us. I just have to convince her that in a world of fakes, our love is true.

(Spoilers below...)

I like Graham, but Luna? I really don't care about her.

Sorry, but she comes off as materialistic and obsessed with status. Also, sorta user. Maybe she actually wants security, but she can provide that for herself. She has a law degree, after all, and a job (that she quit because her ex told her so 😑). She can save and plan for her future and ensure that stability. So no, I can't root for someone like her. I prefer my FMCs to be self-sufficient and independent.

Anyway, here are some lines that in a way show her view about her relationship with her ex, so do what you want with that.

====================

“He’s given me so many expensive things, and I loved it because before him, the closest I’d ever come to a Chanel bag was an ad in my dentist’s copy of Vogue. I feel like a fool.” She rubs the back of her hand across her forehead, and her lower lip trembles.

"I’d made being engaged my whole personality. I finally fit. I wasn’t going to be the poor girl anymore that no one wanted."

“I didn’t fall for him. That’s the thing. I wanted what he had. The name, the security, the belonging. But it wasn’t for me.”

"It was my greed that got me into this position in the first place. I knew I didn’t belong next to Michael, that I was marrying above my station.”

"I had put too much value into possessions and status. Graham has really opened my eyes to what is important in life."

====================

Book info:
- Novella
- Insta-love
- No cheating, OW, separation
- With OM (she was engaged before)
- Dual V!
- HEA (yrs later???, married and there was a mention of kids, not sure how many, tho)

PS. She was an orphan, so maybe this is why she wanted so badly to be accepted. But she has two besties (who love her dearly), so I don't understand why she's looking for acceptance in the wrong place. And why does it need to be from a wealthy family?

PPS. Idk but so far the two books I've read in this series haven't worked for me. Hopefully the next one will. I love this author, so I'll still hold out hope that this will get better. 🤞

DUAL VIRGINS and the best part is they both know they are each others first and only! *Happy dance!*
Quote,
I reach out and lay my hand across her stomach. “My child is
probably growing in you right now. I won’t let you walk out on me.”
“I thought you used protection.” She looks confused now.
“No. Why would I? Luna, I’ve never slept with another woman
before. You’re the only one, and you will remain the only one.
end quote

Quote,
He gets it. Graham always has. He lived it
with his own family. I even believe he waited for me because
Graham doesn't do anything in halves. He's all in or out, and I was
the only girl he ever wanted to be all in with.
“And I love you, Graham, more than anything in this whole world,”
I tell him.
“I love you, too.” Graham leans down, pressing his mouth to
mine.
end quote

Safe
No cheating (even though the h is engaged to an OM at the beginning she has no intimacy with or love for the guy and neither her or the hero start anything romantic or intimate until AFTER she breaks up with the OM)
No OW
OM (h's fiance whom she did nothing more than share chaste kisses without tongue and she did not love him; the OM is the crux of the story and I did not care for it but DV makes me ok with it)
No separation (he saw her a year ago and thought about her but did nothing to claim her which I also did not care for; I wish that he claimed her when he first saw her)
No gross condom use (in the quote above she thought that he might have slipped on a condom, but she must have not noticed when in the throws of passion; he didn't use one because he never had any because she is his first! In another quote below, we discover that he saved himself for one woman and he wants children with her. Lucky Luna!)
No stupid third act break up
HEA

This is the story of Luna whom is engaged to a man she is not in love with and never shared anything but a few chaste kisses with, but is with him to "belong" in high society. Graham, a CEO billionaire, sees her and puts her arms around her asking her to rescue him from his body guards because they are a bit of a nuisance. She first sees him when he put his arms around her, but he saw her a year ago and never forgot her; he did not do a thing to claim her though which I did not like. Nothing happens between them at first, they just talk about how her ring is fake and everything the fiance bought her is fake, which makes her upset because the OM fiance said that she is worth it, therefore, worth nothing. She goes to the fiance to confront him with Graham by her side and she publicly breaks off the engagement, takes all the stuff he gave her over the years and burns it all in front of his house. The ex OM gets angry and sues her. She and Graham start to get romantic AFTER the engagement is off. I don't consider Luna and the fiancé a real relationship, BUT had she started anything with our hero before breaking it off with the fiance, I would have considered it cheating. I am glad that there was no cheating, even if the OM is himself a cheater, but that did not matter to Luna because she feels nothing for him. I don't like OM/OW drama, and this is the whole book, but it is bearable for me because there was no love, no intimacy between the heroine and the OM, but still, not a plot I like.
Safe dual virgins couples is what I want in a romance. If our couple feels lust and love with only each other, having never felt it or experienced it with another ever, then that is what matters to me the most. Everything else is secondary. I am having a bit of a rough time with this because of a few things. I did not like that the hero saw the heroine at an event a year ago, but did nothing to claim her. I did not like that when they first kiss he says "It's the best kiss of his life", even though he says that the only thing he knows of women is from his mother and sister, so maybe it is his first kiss, but I am not sure. I just don't like comments like this in general.
Quote,
“Not sure if it’s good or bad that you’re laughing when I just had
the best kiss of my life.”
Best kiss of his life? I doubt that. Not with my lack of a kissing
history. “It was a good laugh,” I admit.
end quote

This quote makes me think it is his first kiss,
Quote,
Based on my extensive
experience with women—and by extensive I mean my mother and
sister—they like true crime documentaries, kittens, babies, and
afternoon tea.
end quote

Because he has no experience with women, and the fact that either he is all in or nothing, I want to believe that when he said that this 'the best kiss of his life', that he wasn't comparing to others because there are no other women in his past. So even though reading this quote made me feel apprehensive, it could be just a sweet thing he said. I choose to believe that when he kissed Luna, it was his first real kiss like it was for her. Remember, she never really kissed a man with feeling and passion. The occasional peck on the lips she exchanged in the past with the OM felt more like an obligation (also never seen in the book).
I don't like that the heroine said yes to a man proposing to her because she no longer wanted to be the unwanted poor girl. She did not love the ex nor did she do anything but share a chaste peck on the lips but she did decide to marry him. When the ex fiance tried to tongue kiss her (not a scene in the book, just what happened a while ago), she flinched and pushed him away, so I am glad for that. Her first real kiss was with Graham. I get that Luna wanted to "belong" and to belong to a rich family means something, but that is what a gold digger would do. Still, I like Luna and I don't really believe she is a gold digger, but I do believe that material goods, even if she protests when Graham showered her with gifts, I think still matters to her in some way. It could be because she was poor and in the foster system, but she did want to marry a rich man. I know it was the crux of the story, to have her confront the 'ex' and have her discover love with Graham, but too much OM/OW drama is something I do not care for. It was bearable because there was not a hint of intimacy of any kind and no love between them, so I ended up being ok with it, because our couple being each other's one and only, matters to me above all!
Luna and Graham start a beautiful relationship and I did enjoy that they both know they are each others one and only. Aside from the few things I disliked, I loved how all in Graham is for Luna, I did like Luna's vulnerability and by the end, I understand that her whole thing with money is that she did not have any growing up, and the reason why she was upset her ring was fake was because the ex said that that is what she is worth, which made her feel worthless. It still lingers that money matters to her, but I still love her and rooted for her. Graham is your straight forward, sweet, quirky, intense hero and I do love him, so of course I rooted for them both because Graham asked if she loved the fiance to which she said "No" and he happily understood through asking her, that the ex never meant anything to her, that there was nothing physical or emotional exchanged between them, aside from money and status. He knows that Luna belongs only to him and never belonged in any way to the ex, so he was happy she belonged entirely to him. After all, she is the one and only woman who claimed him so it is fair for him to know that he gets to claim her firsts! She wanted a real relationship, a family, a real husband, love and passion, something she never felt or had until Graham. My favorite type of hero, is one who happily saves himself for one woman and he knows that when he meets her he wants everything with her, discovering lust, falling in love, marriage, children and growing old with her. That is Graham and why I love him.
All in all, I did end up liking them and rooting for them. I like Graham more though, but I warmed up to Luna pretty quickly. Dual virgin romances when they tell each other that there was no other before them in terms of intimacy and love, is what matters to me the most, and we get that! I hope that our next couple will be a good story with less preferably no OM/OW drama. It is Frankie and the football player Kaden. Kaden is sort of stalking her and Frankie seems to have her walls up, but secretly wants to be chased by Kaden. I am invested since we met them in the first book.
I recommend this book because to me, if there is not a hint of intimacy, emotional or physical acts (I can forgive a chaste kiss that seemed more done out of obligation), and nothing at all between our heroine and the 'OM', then I am ok with it ONLY because it is a dual virgins story and we get our lovebirds start their story experiencing love and intimacy together having never experienced it with another. OM/OW in any way is not my favorite plot point, but it was well handled. I love Ella Goode! I know I will get a safe DV couple in her books and that is what matters to me. It's ok that there are a few elements I did not care for. The most important parts are there and that is what matters!
Happy reading!

Graham's Aunt Jackie slapping his butt and remarking on it being "nice and firm" because he's single and needs to keep up his appearance is gross. That jolted me right out of the story. If an uncle did that to his niece, there'd be a whole lot of suspicious side-eyeing going on.

Also, other reviewers state Luna is also a virgin, yet I don't recall it being mentioned before, during, or after sex. Graham flat out tells her he's never been with a woman prior to her.

True Hearts de Ella Goode Serie The Heart connection libro 2

Argumento:

Luna

-dual POV
-no insta love/lust
-no separation
-virgin heroine
-no cheating between the MCs (when the MCs met she was engaged to OM, I think she broke up with him the same day she met the H)
-no ow drama
-om (h's ex)
-virgin hero (30)
-I didn't like the h, I was excited to read her story bc she seemed sweet in the previous book, I thought she was going to explain why she was engaged to OM if she didn't love him, maybe he was blackmailing her or something but nope, she was straight up a gold digger, she grew up poor and in foster care so apparently she wanted the financial stability and status that he could give her, she was so desperate to fit in and I really don't understand why when she had a great group of friends and she was also a freaking lawyer (she quit her job bc OM told her to), she just wanted MORE so she came across as superficial and materialistic, I would've liked the story more if she had ended up with a poor hero instead of a billionaire... another thing I didn't like about her was that she only broke up with OM bc the H told her that her engagement ring was fake...
-low steam
-epilogue: several years later -married with at least 2 kids

Such a funny and quirky start.

I was really eager to read this couple's story because the female character's situation was intriguing and in total need of a knight in shining armour. She deserved a man who was good, caring and generous. Right what the hero is.

Luna might be a bit confused about her worth, but she has no qualms in serving the bad guy what he's due. Loved her attitude paired with her vulnerability. Graham rewards her with total devotion and lots of lovely gifts. Not bad for instalove.

I like the theme of the abandoned girl who needs to find her value. It's powerful. Also, the hot times are intense. Don't miss them!

My favourite part? The family to the rescue! It's adorable and funny and a force to be reckoned with. The perfect ending to a good little plot of found family, self-worth and hot romance.

I liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable for the most part. It was also kind of sad. Nat and Frankie seemed like good friends to Luna. Graham was definitely into Luna. He had no problem doing things to let her know she was a priority to him or telling her that she was important. Luna was surprised by just how comfortable she was with Graham and how easily he was able to read her. I got a kick out of how Graham’s family handled Luna’s ex-fiancé. The easy acceptance of Luna by his family was super sweet. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

As with all Ella Goode stories, this was fast paced and humorous. I gave it a low-ish rating because it was a bit too fast at the start that I got confused, especially since I hadn’t read book 1 in the series in a hot minute.

Luna’s hang up/insecurity also seemed a bit flimsy to me, or maybe the way it was written made it feel like it was not as big a deal as Luna actually felt (if that makes sense). As a reader I just didn’t feel very sympathetic towards her—not as much as I did with Nat in book1.

Graham & Luna

So fun! Graham is actually absolutely ridiculous. In all the best ways. Luna is essentially in crisis. She thought that she was securing her future, finding safety and security. Graham rescued her from making a terrible mistake and gave her everything - safety, security and untold happiness and love. Short, sweet, slightly chaotic, fun, and a bit steamy. An Ella Goode book is always a good choice! Can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Luna is stuck in a relationship she needs to get out of ASAP. She better than this but life tells her she isn’t. Good thing Graham knows he’s the one for her and he’s determined to make her see!
I thought this couple was sweet!
I love how this is an interconnected couple from the previous story so we already had a little background on these two characters. Plus, it was kinda nice seeing the previous couple.

I am really enjoying this series, and especially with how dreamy the men are. Luna and Graham’s story was easy to fall into and their gradual romance was very sweet. Their meet cute was unexpected since I was expecting another couple from the small friend group before this book, but I was happily surprised with how this book went. The dynamic between Graham and Luna was easy, and they complimented each other very well. Luna was looking for love and comfort she didn’t have growing up, while Graham didn’t know what he wanted until he met Luna. He was the sweetest!!

Sometimes we want a romance where the guy sweeps his woman off her feet and spoils her in every aspect of life, AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT!

This book was so good. Heart, heat and hilarity. Everything I want in a new Ella Goode book. I really worried for Luna in Natalie’s book. She seemed very Stepford Wife there. Turns out she just needs Graham’s help to break free of Montclair’s bad influence. And might I say - the ‘moms’ were awesome. Looking forward to- impatiently - for the next Ella Goode.

A fun and engaging HEA story

Graham and Luna, a slow burn insta attraction story. Graham is determined to have Luna become his wife. Luna is wary, due to a horrible ex.
In true Ella style their romance blooms. Passion follows. I did enjoy the banter between Graham’s mum and her sisters

i really loved the H but overall it just felt generic. Like at this point it is rinse and repeat with her stories. I loved the fierce women in his family though. The sex scene was also really cringy. No guy is going to describe things the way he did. Actually, no one would.

FMC gave me the ick.

It's REALLY hard to like an FMC who's a shallow, social-climber, that also walks on the razor edge of gold-digger. It's even discovered she once stole her friend's boyfriend. It was impossible to be happy about her happy ending.

Graham was so straightforward in going for what he wanted. Of course, he got his woman. I loved the way he stood by Luna without fail. I also enjoyed the sass she showed even while she was hurting. Great story with an even better HEA.

The FMC Luna comes off as a gold digger to be honest. She was going to marry someone for money and status. Felt like the only reason she broke up with her fiancé (Not MMC) was because he bought her fake designer things.
