Nineteen-thirty through nineteen-forty-five were considered some of the most tumultuous and desperate periods in American history. The country went from the false prosperity of the Twenties to food lines, fractured families, dust storms, suicides and thousands of homeless people. The early Forties were a topsy turvy world of women doing men's jobs, and the great car companies making weapons of destruction. Meanwhile, thousands of young men were dying in Europe or on tiny atolls in the South Pacific. A Million Tomorrows is a novel about two families from different walks of life, trying to survive these trying years, and a love affair that was against all the norms of the time.
What a great read! I was drawn into this book very quickly and had trouble putting it down once I started. Drama, romance, and action. I was engaged until the very end. The author did a great job getting me invested in the characters. Loved it!
