But Derrick Shaw? He was supposed to be a one-time fling—ten months ago, a moment of weakness I planned to forget. Now he’s back. Injured. In my house. And far too close to the parts of me I’ve kept locked away. This isn’t supposed to mean anything. But the longer he stays, the harder it is to let him go. This isn’t just a comeback story. It’s a collision course between hearts, secrets, and second chances. And it might just be for pucking ever.
For Pucking Ever is a stand-alone MM hockey romance, book three in The Seattle Vipers series.
You may know me by Dreia Wells! Writer of Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy. I am originally from Houston, Texas but I have live in England for over 13 years now. D. Sparks is my alter ego!! Writer of Contemporary and Dark Romance. Join me in the flames!!

For Pucking Ever is book three of the Seattle Vipers series. The books can be read independently but the characters and events crossover. I recommend reading the series in order for the most enjoyment.
Derrick is a young rookie goalie living his best life. He got his team to the Stanley Cup finals but then disaster strikes and he is sidelined with a potentially career ending injury. While trying to figure out what to do if he loses his place on the team and taking care of his ailing mother, he’s delivered another blow. The doctors won’t let him travel back to his hometown. Now that he’s sidelined and stuck in a rival team’s city, what can he do and where can he go to recover?
Sebastian is a seasoned goalie for the Seattle Vipers. His team was playing against Derrick’s when he was injured. While he led his team to victory, his heart took a beating. He and Derrick shared a very brief encounter. Derrick has been hurt, deeply, before and closed himself off to love and relationships. When his summer fling is hurt and has nowhere to go, he is compelled to take him in and nurse him back to health.
Will the two be able to rekindle their flame? Can they get past all the hurts of the past to make a future together?
This is a great hockey series with memorable characters that interact with each other throughout the books. I loved Derrick’s vulnerability but plucky attitude and seeing Sebastian melt for his guy.
3.5*. Very well written but something about their dynamics did not engage me as much as I thought. Perhaps the princess bit, perhaps the fact that we see them first already having sex, I'm not sure. Or perhaps the prologue would have worked better for me in flashbacks. Again not sure.
You can tell when the words flowed for an author, when it reads like the story just poured out of them. As a reader of most (thought not all) of D. Spark’s work I can say this is her best work. This series as a whole has been incredible but this was the kind of writing that makes you go read everything the author has written. As a big fan I love this for her and for me! Now let’s talk Bast and Derrick. Can you say swoooon?!? This was so pure and beautiful. Their connection was this soft, intimate thing that I just wrapped around myself and couldn’t put down! You know how you read a story and the author tells you about all the soft moments that lead to the connection the characters feel. Well this is the story that shows you those moments. You get to experience them holding each other up, walking through difficult moments, having the tough conversations, battling their fears and insecurities. It was an amazing romance and my new favorite of the series. Me and hockey series are undefeated!!
There are very few authors who can take me out of my comfort zone. Dreia Wells, writing as D. Sparks, is one of those authors, and she's doing it all with one series, The Seattle Vipers. I had firmly stayed away from sports romances until this series. For Pucking Keeps was my first-ever hockey romance, and it was so good. Now Sparks is doing it again with For Pucking Ever. I enjoyed the previous books so much that I decided to give my first strictly MM book a try. I've read plenty of why-choose with MM, but strictly MM is something else altogether. Plus, this book had some of my favorite tropes: grumpy/sunshine, age gap, forced proximity, second-chance romance, and Sparks even threw in a secret identity.
I got glimpses of Derrick and Sebastian in the previous books, more of Derrick's happy personality, but Bast was a mystery. Until now. Due to his previous experience, Sebastian has become closed off. Even his closest friends can only get so close. He's compartmentalized his entire life, built up high walls, and kept people at arm's length until Derrick. Somehow, Derrick's upbeat, positive personality wiggled past all of his defenses. Bast helps Derrick weather a dark moment in his life. Things were pretty tremulous after Derrick's injury. Derrick had to recover, but hockey won't wait forever. He had to face the very real possibility that his career might be over before it even began. With things so uncertain, Bast became a soft place to land. I enjoyed the relationship development between the pair. It happened slowly and wasn't without its bumpy moments, but these are two people who are undeniably drawn to each other. There were some really touching moments that may have gotten a sniffle or two from me.
For Pucking Ever was like a modern-day fairytale. It was also one of the deepest romances I've ever read; the emotions hit really hard. A second chance at romance, fighting for the life they want, and surrounded by chosen family. How could I not feel all the feels? The twist took me completely off guard, but in a good way, and added even more depth to the story. There were also little easter eggs about the next book, but it was the bonus epilogue that blew me out of the water. I love this series; I'm already salivating over the next book.
For Pucking Ever by D. Sparks is book three in The Seattle Vipers Series. This book can be read as a standalone but I recommend checking out the previous titles as it is an interconnected series. Well let’s just say after reading the opening chapters I was hooked and couldn’t wait to see how everything developed. I really liked these characters, Sebastian and Derrick. Reading them work out their issues, especially learning to open themselves back up was a highlight for me. I thought they balanced each other well with Derrick being the sunshine and Sebastian being the grumpy. It was sweet and spicy at the same time… which I was all for. The book itself was written well to the point of me being obsessed with these boys. I was rooting for them the whole time and couldn’t wait for them to work out everything between them. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. Would definitely recommend it if you enjoy a good M/M romance with some hockey and second chances.
I’m loving every single book in this series, and “For Pucking Ever” is no exception to that. It may be the first MM romance in the series, but it has everything else I already fell in love with in the previous books. There are so many emotions involved, so much love, and all of that in a hockey setting with a team that feels like family. And oh yeah: the spice. Let’s not forget about the spice…
If you haven’t read the previous books in the series, the start of this book might be burning a little too fast. But as a fan of the series, I loved diving into their story like this. Derrick was already one of my favorite side characters before, but this book made it clear Sebastián deserves that love just as much. The both of them are amazing, as people and as a couple, and I loved watching them heal together. One physically, the other emotionally, but both equally important.
Sebastian & Derrick’s story was full of emotions. They started off with a hidden meeting turned separation after Sebastian left with no notice. Then months later Derrick got hurt & Sebastian stepped in without much thought other than caring for him & hoping for another chance. They both had some things to work thru. For Sebastian, he had hidden parts of himself to make his father happy, which surprised everyone when he came out of hiding it. For Derrick, he had lots of mental trauma from getting injured, while also being confused about what he was to Sebastian.
For Pucking Ever by D. Sparks is a MM hockey romance. First of all….MM AND hocket romance?? Yes please! Sebastian and Derrick’s story is kind of lovers to kind of enemies to lovers story and I am here for it! A one night stand that ended with Sebastian walking away with no word. Flash forward Derrick gets hurt badly and Sebastian steps up to take care of him while he recovers. It was refreshing watching them work through their issues and learn to trust each other. They fought hard for their relationship and I love that for any book I read. Well done!
Ms. D gives us a fantastic standalone book in the Seattle Vipers series! The story of Sebastian and Derrick begins with Bast walking away from Derrick after a single night between them then 10 months of silence. Then, during the cup final, Derrick receives a devastating head injury. His road to recovery on the way to their hard won HEA is why you need to dive into this wonderfully written book with complex characters and plot twists that keep you glued to the story and on the edge of your seat. I loved reading this story and highly recommend the series! Don't miss out on this book!!
Love this series and the story of Sebastian and Derrick is a great addition to the Seattle Vipers.
Sparks is a great author and her characters and stories have a lovely depth to them.
After a one night stand Derrick and Sebastian aren't expecting to see each other again, especially after Sebastian left without a word. After an unexpected injury throws them back together they have the opportunity for real feelings to develop. Sparks gives us enough plot twists to keep us guessing but in the end they get their hard earned HEA.
I have not read a lot of mm hockey romance , but I quite enjoy this authour by all their pen names so I was happy to dive into this one. D. Sparks really knows how to tell a story! This was a great read, I enjoyed getting to know these characters and the world this author created. Derrick and Sebastion both had diverse distinct personalities with the whole sunshine and grumpy vibe. I thought both the characters and the world building was well done, the story was easy to follow and flowed well. This was a sweet and spicy read, that can be read as a standalone.
I'm absolutely in love with this series. It's been delightfully funny, sweet and a magnetism that makes you want to continue reading and not put it down. Can rivals really become a strong unit not only on the ice but off? Sebastian "Bast" and Derrick Shaw spent a short summer together and Bast made the decision to walk away. It's 10 months before they see each other again; facing off on opposite teams. Derrick gets a nasty head injury from being hit with a puck. From there Sebastian is determined to take care of him and make sure he recovers well.
Sebastian is the Ice King, on and off the ice. Derrick brings out something in him during summer camp, but it ends in a fling as they each go off to their teams at summers end. Faced with a long recovery, Bast steps up to take care of Derrick. The emotional push pull, trauma bonding, and working through their issues to open to each other made for a beautifully raw story. I loved the acceptance they gave each other to be real.
I wasn't expecting two burly hockey players to be so heartwarmingly compassionate as Derrick and Sebastian was in this book. I loved that they were.
A one-off night together led to Sebastian leaving Derrick with no word. Only for circumstance to put them back in each others lives. With Derrick needing Sebastian's help. Ah these two characters genuinely warmed my heart and I had my fingers crossed for them to get their HEA ending from the beginning of this book. A great read.
If you’re looking for a MM hockey romance then look no further as D. Sparks delivers a perfect hit with her third book in the Seattle Vipers Series! For Pucking Ever is Derrick and Bast’s story and let’s just say two hot goalies with a past is the perfect way to go!!! I loved seeing how they learned to work together and overcome their issues—both together and individually. And while yes this is a standalone I highly recommend you read the others just for the fabulous characters alone!
For Pucking Ever, book 3 of The Seattle Vipers series, by D. Sparks, @dreia_wells_author. Dreia is a favorite author of mine.
What an amazing book about Sebastian & Derrick! Absolute PERFECTION! Tropes: Contemporary, Professional Hockey, Gay Romance, Second Chance, Age Gap, Rival Teams to Same Team, Grumpy/Sunshine, Recovery From Injury & HEA!
It was so good seeing how Sebastian and Derrick finally find their way to each other. They both have baggage and things to work through, but they finally realize it will be worth it. Sweet and spicy. Love the characters in this series and how they still all end up in each book. Loved it and can’t wait for the next one!
My favourite goalie couple ever! They take a while getting there. While not exactly slow burn, they have a long lull which made sense but was a bit frustrating. (Knocked a star for that and a few things that didn't make sense). That was minimal though and overall a very enjoyable read.
This is the third book in The Seattle Viper standalone series. Absolutely an amazing story. Really enjoyed reading about Derrick and Sebastian. Loved reading their story. Wonderful storyline. Right from the beginning I was hooked right into this book. Second chance romance are a favorite of mine. Highly recommend reading. Such a cute story.
Bast and Derrick are perfect for each other. One is recovering from an injury and one is hiding from everyone and everything, never letting anyone get close, until one freak accident changes everything. This story is just what you didn't know you needed until you start reading it
This was a cute, sweet romance, with some very hot spots. I love a good hockey, romance, and this story had the romance, the background of why things are the way they are, a few secrets, and lots of love and laughter. Definitely an enjoyable book.
I loved Derrick and Sebastian! They were just so great together and I loved how much Sebastian supported Derrick after his accident and the way their relationship grew. Also loved all the little secrets that came out and the way the rest of the team supported Bast when his secret was revealed.
First off I love a good hockey romance and this one was awesome. Perfect balance of sweet and spice and a well written plot with superb characters. This is another great book in the Seattle Viper series.
Good story with well written, complex characters and a storyline that keeps you interested. I like that we get to read the backstory between Derrick and Sebastian and see them slowing coming back together.
Bast is about to bump into his one night stand and now they are living in his home. They are injured and want to get back to playing hockey. Although they want to get him back in their bed as well. See if they get what they wants
Derrick and Bast are so cute! A real opposites attract story and those always give you all the feels as well as angst, up and downs and are so amazing to see the endings! Really enjoy this series and can't wait for the next book.
Derek and Bass - a second chance MM romance and sports story. Filled with emotions, interactions, action, drama, issues, chemistry, situatioins, and twists. Deals with standing up for onseself, seeking what you truly want, facing insecurities and fears, and taking chances.

This is an amazing emotional read. Full of angst, fears, and growth, Bast and Derrick find their way to each other. Learning to trust and communicate. I am so glad we Got Bast's story and cannot wait for the next book.
