A mysterious letter from the mother who disappeared a decade earlier leads curvaceous Gwynne to the coast of Cornwall, the land of ancient legends and, apparently, incredibly sexy men.
When Gwynne sets out to learn about her mother's past, she gets more than she bargained for. Not only has one gorgeous pack leader been looking for her for some time, but another awaits, eager to take her alongside his co-alpha and to show her pleasures like she's never encountered.
Gwynne finds herself thrust into a world of danger, shifters, and a mystery that's only just beginning to untangle.
A woman with two alpha males who want her like they've never wanted anything else. Sounds like the ideal business proposition. The only problem is that Gwynne wants to know who she really is, and no one is giving her the answers she needs.
Encounters is a novella of 19,000 words, the first in the Sought by the Alphas Series. It isn't a standalone book.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Carina Wilder. This is book 1 from the Sought by the Alphas series by the author.
Gwynne went to where her ancestors came from, Trekilling and there she would find answers to her past. Lachlan and Routh has been waiting for his love to come back to them but little does Gwynne know the whole story.
The characters in this book and their interaction was worth the read. I love how the author created a smooth flowing story line.
This is for mature paranormal romance book lovers because of sexual content.
I was given this arc by the author for an honest review
A nice story with nice chemistry and fast paced. Its not that i didn't like the story but i found the character jumping into things she didn't know too quick and in general things happening too quick and a lot of mystery over the painting and all and its pretty clear why the two paintings have the woles and the third has what it has. She seems naive and a bit silly and in one hand she is all"mm i don't know and i have to think about it" and in the other hand she is like "ohh yes do me know!" i don't know there were things that simply made me not like the book that much
This book was a free book, an introduction to a series.
I was immediately taken in with this story, it felt as if it was going to be a great fast paced story with some wonderful characters.
The premise of the story is good and i like the characters so far. Time travel, romance, war, whats not to like?............. The story finished before it even gets started and it ends on a cliffhanger. I will put this into my "to read" but to be very honest there are already five books in the series so not sure when or whether i will get to them.
I wouldn’t call this book one this is only a prologue of a story to come and of course ended on a cliffhanger 👎 ~ luckily I purchased the complete series so I’m on to next so called book. As far as actual content of this novella if it’s even that the story line is fabulous. I’m not into authors printing partial stories this only has about 60 pages so misleading to buyers. I would hope in future author would write completed work then sell instead of these partials. Authors tend to think they will bring in more money however all you do is lose fans. A shame because this is good start to story.
It is basically the first few chapters of the entire series. The entire book is setting up the characters, nothing really happens other than putting characters in place and trying to pull the reader into their world.
The way the first book is written doesn't give any promise that the next in the series will be much better. I tried to get into this book had to keep coming back to it in order to finish it.
I thought the overall storyline had a good idea to it. The characters are easy to like and I really did want to know what happens with their story as I continued reading. I thought the overall storyline had a unique idea to it. It's worth the money to find the full box set and not waste time on the individual books since each will leave you in a cliffhanger. I believe Wilder could have one hell of a Shifter story on her hands!
Three stars Interesting premise and solid writing. I found myself easily immersed in the flow of the story and interested to discover the fleshed out characters. Lost half a star because I hate cliffhangers!
This is the first part of the Sought by the Alphas series. Part 1 was an ok ready, but to be honest I'm not interested in reading the balance of the story. The characters were a bit bland and didn't really entice me to be engaged in the story.
I thought I was going to hate it because I'm not into werewolves and the likes. But I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I was looking through some of the other reviews and saw some people complaining that the main character jumped too quickly into something she didn't understand. I don't agree. Yes, maybe things happened quickly but it's not like she had a choice. Needless to say I felt like it worked. The story is not perfect, and I would have liked a few things to be more in depth or better laid out. Maybe the book would have gained from being longer. But it definitely piqued my interest and made me curious about finding more about this series and this author.
This series, Sought by the Alphas, is full of erotic romance, drama and action. It's very unique story. Gwynne is modern day girl with an intriguing family mystery. She grew up in New England. Her mother left when she was young and her has died not long ago. She finds a mysterious letter left by her mother that tells her that she needs to go to Cornwall, England to find out about her family and who she truly is. At a pub she listens to the legends of Dundurn's castle near by. She sees a portrait of a woman with two wolves that looks exactly like her and meets a mysterious, gorgeous man that can handle help answer some of her questions. She is the reincarnation of the Lady Gwendolyn, who was killed in the 1300's. She was chosen to mate with two dire wolf Alphas. The gorgeous stranger, Lachlan, saves her life up at Dundurn's Castle remains, then transports her back to his time, 1348. Her purpose there is to have a Ritual mating with both Alphas which changes her too become a very powerful shifter. She is being hunted by her biological father due to his fear that he will no longer be the most powerful. I'll leave off here. I don't like to rehash the story but just give you a taste to want to dive into this story. I was hooked before the end of the first chapter. This story flows perfectly from Book to book. There's never a dull moment. I highly recommend this series. If you love shifters and erotic love, you'll love this. Happy reading!
Title: Encounters Series: Sought by the Alphas Designation: Installment 1 of 5 Part Serial, Not a Standalone, Cliffhanger Author: Carina Wilder My Rating: Five Captivating Stars***** OMG! I am so in love with this story! Carina Wilder is a true artist, skillfully using her imagination and words as canvas and oils to create a masterpiece of paranormal romance. Wilder has delivered Encounters, the riveting first installment of her captivating Sought by the Alphas Serial. Exciting! Well Written! Smart! Original! Imaginative! Gripping! Action Packed! Addictive! Powerful! Captivating! Riveting! Suspenseful! Romantic! Seductive! Arousing! Sexy! Steamy! And did I say hot? Oh yeah! The characters are fascinating, quirky and intriguing. They come to life and jump off the page right into your heart. The story is fast paced, original and imaginative. It grabs you and holds you from beginning to end, while weaving a web of fantasy around you. It entices you with its mystery and magic! I was mesmerised! This story has it all! Two handsome, sexy werewolves-check! Beautiful sexy, sassy heroine who quite possibly may not be human-check! Time travel-check! Suspense, romance and steamy sex-check, check and check! Oh, and did I mention a ménage trois? Yeah baby! This is only the first installment of this serial and I'm already on the edge of my seat! Oh my! I can hardly wait to read the next installment. Kudos Ms. Wilder! Once again, you've outdone yourself!
Carina is a new author to me and Im glad that I had the pleasure of reading this story. A short fast paced story that includes of course one of my favorite.. shifters. Theres a bit of time travel and a bit of danger. Mix in a bit of teasing scenes and you have a pretty good story. Its a quick read and a cliff hanger, which only time I like cliffs if I already have the next book. (smiles). Gwynne is out and about finding answers, about her past most of what she had no clue even existed. She is amazed at what she learns and half most of its unbelievable, even when a shifter gets up close and personal. Not so sure I even like Rauth right now, I'll reserve judgement for the next book. I do like Lachlan a lot. The way cares you can just see it, where as Rauth seems he just hasn't grown up yet. Gwynne has a lot to overcome in a short amount of time. One alpha is easy going and patient, the other one is so full of himself if you blow on him he'd prolly flitter away. With all that said, I thought the story was cute and fun. It could have had a bit more heat in it, but that just my deviant mind. So grab your fav drink and this book, kick back and enjoy.
This is a short story about wolf shifters waiting for their queen to come to the alpha's when it was suppose to happen back in 1300's that Lady Gwendolyn was murdered and now co- alpha Lachlan has been waiting for Lady Gwynne to come to Cornwall she has come to find out if she has relatives there and she sees a picture of a young woman in a painting inside of a Pub that she has stopped in to have a drink and to get information but has had no luck she ask about the painting and the bar keep gives her information not sure whether this information is completely true but he tells what he knows about the woman and the castle she is then told some other information by another man that has been watching her in the pub but is very cryptic with his answers and walks away Gwynne decides that she wants to go to the Castle at the top of the hill where Lady Gwendolyn was to reside with Lord Rauth she hiked there and was looking around when a man attacks her and this is where this story really gets more than interesting. This was a real page turner for me but way to short, cannot wait for the next book Rituals. Readers 18 and older.
This one seems to be a little bit of everything at the moment- fantasy, paranormal, time travel, and mystery.
This is the first installment in a series that can't be read standalone.
Gwyn has come to Cornwall seeking answers after reading a letter left for her from the mother who abandoned her. Now she encounters a portrait that bares striking resemblance to herself, a legend behind the portrait, and two mysterious men. One is there to guide and the other is a danger to her. Her guide, Lachlan, has a strange story to tell and stranger secrets. He requests her to say 'yes' to her fate though she is aware there is much more going on. Dare she? Gwyn takes one look at the handsome Lachlan and she dares.
This was the introductory story and it had a lot to keep me questioning and drawing me in. It doesn't dig deep and it is most certainly leading up to some pretty hot threesome action. I like the idea of Gwyn's mysterious fate and the ritual, too. I'll have to check out what comes next.
Gwynne travels to Cornwall after a finding a letter from her missing mom urging her to make the trip. She meets Lachlan, a time-travelling, shifter wolf who tells her she needs to mate with two wolves in order to save the country. Oh, and this is after he saves her from a time-travelling, shifter eagle. There is a dragon in here somewhere. Sounds silly and farfetched, but this read was actually quite enjoyable. It is short, it's a serial and there is a cliff-hanger ending - I'd much rather have a regular book than these string-me-along stories, but despite that I did like this book and will most likely continue on with the series.
Very different shifter story, but a very surprising and pleasant surprise.....Time Traveling shifter.
Gwynne is literally swept off her feet to the past by a very handsome Werewolf. While all this is happening she learns she is to be shared between 2 men! She also learns that they has been waiting for her for centuries, how can this be happening? She is some kind of reincarnated special person.
Can't wait to read the next book to find out what is behind all the mystery of who Gwynne is and what part she plays in the future of the pack.
Gwen is a strong heroine and doesn't seem to question Lachlan too much, there seems to be this instant connection. I think the drama of the hawk and the cliffhanger really did add depth to the story. I feel like there is more going on than Lachlan is letting on. My only complaint so far is that I see this chick on the cover and she does not impress me as a BBW, and the guys she's with - yeah they've been on other covers for other books, which is cool cause they've gotta make money...but they're always together.
TIME TRAVEL, SHIFTERS, AND PASSION, OH MY !!!! Great beginning to a new series. I love how MS Wilder tied time travel, shifters, and passion together, not to mention the action and suspense. I finished this book in one sitting and started on the 2nd one, which I loved too. You need to read this book. You'll be drawn in right away. Can't wait to see how things play out. I received this book as a gift for an honest review. Patsy Sacco
I started reading this free download last night and simply could not put it down. This novel hits on so many of my favorites things, a magical paranormal romance with time-travel, and werewolves, menage, and oh yes, as an added bonus, it's Celtic too!
Before I even grabbed my first cup of coffee this morning, I immediately went back on-line and was happy to discover that the entire boxed set, "Sought by the Alphas", was only $4.99--what a bargain!
I know this wasn't a stand alone but I expected more of a storyline prior to her willing going along. Ok Lachlan is pant dropping gorgeous...But how do you go from living in modern day US to 1350's knowing you have to mate two men. It didn't seem realistic. I have read the sequel to this series and do want to see where it all began so I am going to buy the packaged deal.
I was pulled into this story from the first page, Gwynne travels to Cornwall following a cryptic letter from her mother who disappeared years before. She finds a picture in a pub that looks just like her, this story had everything I love shifters time travel a mysterious tale and not one but two handsome men. What more could you want the cliff hanger at the end was the only draw back for me . A really good Read.
I like the mystery in this book. Although the Gwynne from the 21st century agree to fulfill her destiny from the 13th century, she still feels no one is forthcoming with the details of the ritual. I'm anxious to find out the details of the ritual in book 2. I know others will enjoy this read.
One of my author friends was pimping this one out so I decided to give it a shot. This book literally has a little bit of everything. You got time travel, ménage and shape-shifters. Some of my favorite genres so I was intrigued. It was a pretty good intro into the serial type series. I have already started book 2.
It was pretty good. I am looking forward to the next in the series. There was action and some romance. But a lot my questions haven't been answered so at the end of the book I am really confused. So to make sense of the first book I am continuing the series. I don't know if this is genius or very frustrating.
I've been looking for a shifter romance to sink my teeth into and this book gave me everything I wanted..some super steamy moments, suspense, and mystery! A great beginning to what looks like will be a really amazing series.. I can't wait for book 2!!
If you lover serials, you will love this book. Gwenne travels to solve the mystery of her mothers disappearance, only to find that she must mate with two werewolf lords to save humanity. Can't wait for the next book.
