I ran into this book on Book Bassett and said to myself, "Want Not? " I bought the book, downloaded it, and flipped through the pages. I found the recipe of my dreams, "Diet Coke Cherry Dump Cake." Then I read the ingredients: diet Coke, Cherry Pie Filling, Cake Mix, a stick of margarine. Nightmare over. I was hoping for a diet cake. But NO. It was a cake with a slightly reduced calorie count. That diet coke probably saves 100 calories on the whole cake. Oh well, I did enjoy reading the recipes. Read it. You can go for a walk down memory lane, too.
I was just introduced to dump cakes earlier this year when a friend brought one to a potluck. It was fabulous!!! I had heard about them, but had never, to my knowledge, tasted one before. I asked my friend for her recipe and was astounded at the simplicity of dump cakes. I am so glad I found this cookbook.
