It ended and I just can't seem to move on. My heart is scattered in pieces and my eyes are puffy...
Death lurks at every corner and the realm is on the brink of destruction. These characters had very tough choices to make that will define their fates. And the author becomes much more sadistic in this dark and bloody finale.
These characters have been through enough and yet they are faced with more obstacles. I am so proud of how far Petra had come and saying good bye to her and Cal and Miles was so bittersweet.
I was agitated throughout the book but the last 15%...? It almost took me out.
This series is truly what I love and expect for a dark fantasy romance to be and what enriched it more is the incredible lore and setting that was splendidly ominous which fit the overall story.
Much more of the lore is fleshed out and I do think there can be other stories to be explored within it (maybe for selfish reasons). There is more I want to know and experience and I am delighted that Lauren has a project in mind (you'll get a good idea if you read the acknowledgements).
Dear Lauren, thank you for creating this story and sharing Petra's journey with us. I am so incredibly grateful to have been here from the beginning. This was an emotional and hard-fought ending full of plot twists to make your jaw drop! Just when I thought I had figured out how it would all end, BAM!! The way everything from the entire series was weaved back together was truly incredible! I laughed, I cried, my heart broke, it was healed, and what an adventure it was! The battle against evil across the realms, the drivas (aka huge dragons), and an amazing cast of characters made this an emotional journey of loss, guilt, hope, and love! I adore the found family Petra has in the Penumbra (iykyk) and the way that Lauren can make me go from absolutely hating a character and wishing death upon them to wanting redemption for them is truly remarkable! Cal, Cal, Cal…… the way I love this man! His commitment, supportiveness and love for Petra is unerring!
“You want a bold life spent ruling your kingdom? I’ll rule by your side. You want a quiet life spent in the countryside? I’ll chop the firewood and plant you a garden. You want to live by the ocean? perfection
It’s hard to finish a series well- especially an epic fantasy with so many moving parts. But this ending was pretty much perfect. ❤️

I feel wrecked and strangely at peace—like being shattered and whole in the same breath…
…I cried
And cried
And fucking cried some more…but then, I laughed.
Fuck.
What an ending to such a beautifully woven story. I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye to Petra–strong, resilient, and incredibly flawed. The kind of female meant to lead a story with courage and compassion while navigating through trauma and ruin—a true testament of good vs evil across the realms. I thought I had this one figured out, but I found myself on the edge of my seat, chewing my lip with a beating heart until I could breathe once again.
Cal. Oh, my dear sweet Cal. The devotion of this man is 🤌 chef's kiss. Do they make them this good in real life? Because his character needs to be studied. He's got green flag energy—a nice reprieve from the bare minimum normalized as love.
Did I mention there are dragons (drivas)? Yeah, there are huge fucking dragons. Go binge this masterpiece of a story…I cannot wait to see it on the Telly. Because mark my words, it will be.

I can't believe this series is completed and I have to say goodbye to the characters. These characters will be stuck in my head till forever. Petra is such a raw character, she is not perfect by any means other than pure strength of her mind which I aspire to be. Despite hardships and tragedy, she never gave up even though she felt like giving up at times.
Cal was such a delight to read, his emotions and dilemma and his love for Petra is so visible that you can't help but feel everything.
And Miles. I better say nothing. That man is a walking tradegy.
The plot of this series was so unique but very dark and brutal. And Twists? It will hit you so unexpectedly that you'll question everything. This final book was a very good wrapped up the series very nicely and gave the ending every character deserved ( or did they?).
Anyways, I can't reveal more and you have to read this series on your own. This is one of series I will always recommend to all romantasy lovers. It is very very close to my heart.
Lastly, even if this quote wasn't in this particular finale book,
"FIRE BURNED AND OCEAN TUMBLED".

Like the first three books in this series, Lauren’s writing is magical: rich, emotional, and deeply human, even in the middle of war, death and political chaos. She makes you feel every ounce of grief, hope, love and healing as we follow Petra beyond realms and into the unknown. It’s epic and intimate at once, and everything a series finale should be.
Although I'm not ready to bid these characters farewell, I could not imagine a better ending for this incredible series. I’m so grateful to have gone on this journey with them for the past three years. Thank you, Lauren, for breaking my heart and putting it back together again. 💛

This book made me laugh, cry, and feel a whirlwind of emotions. It’s bittersweet finishing this series and I’m not ready to part with this world and all its characters. I love Lauren’s writing style and how easily she keeps your attention with every page, I NEEDED to know what happened next. My life is busy so I’m usually an audiobook reader, but I stole any moments I could to keep reading this book because it was just so good!
I began The Sin of Saints when it was released in the summer of 2022 and I’m very jealous of anyone who hasn’t read this series yet because they get to binge it all at once, without having to wait for the next book. This is a gem of a series you don’t want to miss out on!

Wow!!! This book, and the series as a whole, was absolutely incredible. There was no shortage of action, heart breaking but also heart warming moments, beautifully written romance, and crazy twists! There were some tears shed along the way for sure. The characters were definitely put through it, but I loved how the story ended.
I'm excited for the future prequel that will be coming in this world and have some theories about it!! I can't wait to see if I am right!

What a perfectly crafted ending to this series. We get all the questions we've had throughout the series answered, with new developments and twists beautifully intertwined into the story to keep us on our toes. Our characters are tested time and time again, and we see such a raw human side to each of them - even our villain.
Lauren is such a master at Romantasy, and it is seriously impressive that this was her first series. I can't wait to see what else she has planned!

Ok... Did I cry? Yes. Did I laugh? Yes. Did I love it? No, I ADORED IT. It was so good, such a nice ending. So well written and the characters???? Yeees. I'm so in for it. Loved it so much, one of the best trilogy ever.

Lauren…no words no notes. I am so impressed & this series couldn’t have finished better. Just when I thought I had a grasp of what was to come I was wrong. The level of world building, character growth & plotting was out of this world. Thank you for another amazing book! I can’t wait for the next.

Amazing conclusion to debut series
I have enjoyed this entire series from the beginning. The story of Petra and Cal is one of love, passion, betrayal, forgiveness, life, death and surprises. This conclusion to the series is a heartbreaking, heartwarming, entirely satisfactory end to the Benevolence and Blood. Highly recommend this whole series and think the Unmasked novella is a must when reading the series! Spicy without being too much, but if you are sensitive make sure to read the trigger warnings
