Thoroughly enjoyed this third installment of The White Crow series and was delighted to find there would be a fourth book (Melody of Madness) in 2026. While I recommend reading the first two books in the series (Awakening Anne and Piercing the Veil), each book stands well enough on its own.

The book opens in the the trenches of WWI. It doesn't stay there long, but it makes a profound impression. I could see, hear, and smell everything that was happening on the field of battle. Applewhite really ups the ante in just 12 pages and keeps the tension well-paced throughout. The "other world" that Maggie slips into is expertly crafted and haunting -- sometimes beautifully so and other times dangerously.

My favorite of the three, with a gut wrenching ending.
The supernatural goes into overdrive around Maggie, as she helps Harry search for a missing diamond, and gets mixed up with the wrong sort.

You know a series is good when you can’t wait until the next book comes out!! 2026 can’t come soon enough.!!

Well I’m certainly glad there’s another installment coming soon! I’ve loved this ride so far. Moving through Maggie as she learns more about herself and her gift. I’m just really invested in these characters. The storyline keeps me interested and turning pages quickly. The descriptive quality in all these books is on point. You can really visualize what’s taking place and how everything looks. I was so antsy to get time to sit and read the ending. Bring on number 4! I think I have to wait a few months for it to land though 😂

Tense plot and evolving characters and storyline made this a highly enjoyable addition to the series. Looking forward to the conclusion.
