Neonatal nursing has been the main focus of my career. What can I say? I love babies. I was invited to the highschool graduation of a baby I took care of. Talk about making me feel old!
In June of 2011 I became a widow after my husband of 36 years and 11 months died from multiple brain tumors. It was a very sad time, but thanks to the three f's, my faith, my family and my friends, life is moving forward. I have four brothers, one daughter and two grandchildren who all work at making me feel loved.
I'm the author of more than 30 books and I'm currently writing a series called The Brides of Amish Country for Love Inspired.

Wow! What a captivating story! Both Joshua and Mary are so positive about their futures despite their rocky pasts. Love that they are both moving forward, anchored in their faith when they first meet. Their relationship develops gently in the midst of the chaotic aftermath of a tornado. I particularly adored Joshua's interactions with Mary's daughter, Hannah. There's something so compelling about a man who loves kids. But there's also these secondary plot threads that intertwine into a surprising and explosive climax I didn't see coming. A sheer delight of a read.

This is an inspirational mystery, Totally crazy, but love story.Mary Is almost 20 years old and for an Amish girl has let far less than a stellar life. She is adopted by the English Sheriff and his wife. She is an unwed mother with a child that is not well behaved. She is involved in a past crime that puts her and her unwed child in great danger. The story begins witha tornado and Mary and her child's buggy blows away and a man pulls them into a cellar into safety. They spend about a whole day together and get to know each other but when they try to get out of the storm cellar they are trapped unless someone rescues them. Read the story and find out!

While I am so sad to say goodbye to Hope Springs and the Brides of Amish Country series, I couldn't have asked for a more fitting finale. Focusing on characters that fans grew to love in book 6 - A Home for Hannah - this book also introduced the family of brothers that provide the foundation for Davids' new The Amish Bachelors series. Amish Redemption is an example of what Patricia Davids does best - building a sweet love story around winsome characters and a message of faith. I was so glad to see Mary get her story, and adorable Hannah too of course. And I love the Bowman brothers who kick off the new series! Lots of depth and personality and heart already evident.

Amish Redemption by Patricia Davids, is a fresh retelling of the story of the prodigal son, Joshua Bowman, as he returns to his family's Amish farm. This is the last book in the "Brides of Amish Country" series, but this sweet read can easily standalone. The story begins when Joshua, recently returned home from prison for a crime he did not commit, saves Mary Kaufman, an Amish woman and Hannah, her young daughter from a fierce tornado. An unexpected twist occurs when we realize that Mary's adoptive father is the Englisch sheriff who is well aware of Joshua's past and not in favor of their growing friendship. However, their faith in God will guide them along a new path as they leave their troubled pasts behind.

I thought this was a good end to the 'Brides of Amish Country' series. It brought back Mary, who was a relatively minor character in an early book, and introduced Joshua, who isn't even from Hope Springs to begin with (he is in town on a family errand).
While I thought it was sad that the town had to go through the tornado, I liked that it not only served as a means for Joshua and Mary to meet, but brought the town and surrounding communities (and communities of Amish even further afield) together.
I did want to shake some sense into Nick at one point, but his concerns actually ended up being justified to some extent later, and all's well that end's well.
I'm glad Mary got her happy ending. :)

A wonderfully tender story with lots of Suspense. I loved this book so much and fell in love instantly with Joshua, Mary, and Hannah. In addition to the book being well written, I loved the Inspirational thread throughout the book. I was sad to see the book end. I just learned that Joshua and Mary will be secondary characters in the new series by Patricia Davids so I cannot wait to read those books as well.

Very good book. Just received this from a friend yesterday and set to reading it last evening... and finished it just a bit ago...
Patricia Davids is a wonderful writer and i love her characters.I get lost in the stories and am sad when i come to the end of the book cause it is done... and i have usually used a few klennex's cause of the tears... happy and sad.

A wonderful little quick read that had a little suspense in it. I like the way they brought the 2 of them together when they both had gone through rough patches in they're lives. I really enjoyed how at ease he was with Hannah and they each didn't pass judgement on what they'd been through in the past.

There were so many things that could've been done to make this a *REALLY* good book.
The idea of two Amish people (and one child) trapped in a basement together could've been amazing... had it been fleshed out and given more attention.
The backstory of Joshua's imprisonment and feelings of inferiority and shame could've been really done well. Add to that the panic of having Sheriff Nick around all the time... had there been descriptive writing and more attention paid to feelings and emotions and memories and fear, it could've been really good.
But there wasn't.
There wasn't much of anything at all here unpacked and utilized to make the story moving and to draw the reader in. It had TONS of potential, but the author left it 'skeletal' - like the husk of a house after a tornado. There wasn't any care given to the story. It felt like a skim across water, instead of a refreshing dip with some playful splashes. It was... *lacking*.
The story wasn't bad. The characters were done well enough - and I went back and read Nick/Miriam's story again before doing this one, so that I would have them fresh in my mind for this. But... this was just *m.e.h.* Across the board. So much could've been put into it. Heart. Feeling. Time.
Even the 'comic relief' of the Beachy twins (who were the Miller twins in Nick's book, but I digress)... it was so sparcely written and barely touched, it wasn't even endearing.
It just... wasn't.

Amish Redemption is the 12th story written by Patricia Davids in her Brides of Amish Country series. This series just keeps getting better with every story that gets added to it. I enjoyed this storyline a great deal. It plays out nicely.
The characters are wonderful and well thought out. I enjoyed Joshua's character because of all the troubles he has endured but still remains strong, loving, and strong in his faith. This journey starts out with a devastating tornado that destroys the little town of Hope Springs. There is a bit of mystery throughout this story and it gets very exciting. There is a 4year old Amish girl, Hannah, who will steal your heart. I enjoyed her story and how she helps to heal the people in her life.

After being introduced to Mary and her infant daughter in A Home For Hannah I was thrilled to discover that Mary’s story would be continued, especially since it meant catching up with Miriam and town sheriff Nick from the same book. In this final adventure in the series the charming Hope Springs community must deal with the aftermath of a tornado that affects both the Amish and their Englisch neighbors. This story has lots of suspense and I really enjoyed the romance between Mary and Joshua who form an instant connection even though his stay in Hope Springs is temporary. Joshua has a quiet, helpful nature but he struggles with his past and his suspicion of Englisch sheriff Nick. As with all the books in this series I am inspired by the Christian faith of the Amish and learn lessons about my faith in every new book. I’m sorry to see this series end.

The hero and heroine in Amish Redemption had a lot to overcome. Patricia Davids created an unique plot with characters that faced realistic issues. I was right in the midst of all the action and emotions of the characters. There were times of danger, false accusations, community members aiding others along with the tender moments. Amish Redemption definitely can be read as a standalone book, even though it's the last one in the series. I would like to find the earlier ones in this series to read as the characters have become family members with all they've experienced as early in life.

I love Amish fiction to begin with...this was excellent and not the usual fare. 2 people with dark secrets in their pasts thrown together in a disaster. Interesting, diverse characters; unexpected problems; unexpected feelings - all combine together well. The author lives just down the highway from me which made it even better for me - a local writer! Totally loved it and will be looking for more of her work to read.

Nice relaxing read. Amish man released from jail after being charged with a crime he didn't commit, saves a woman and her child during a tornado. Since he couldn't meet with his parole officer, this created many problems as he stayed to help with the damage while fighting his attraction with the woman and her child.
