Very good story. Connor gets the surprise of his life when he discovers he is the father of triplets. He had been sperm donor for a friend, but was told that the insemination didn't take. His friend moved away and didn't tell him about the babies. The first he knew about it was after the couple had died, and the babies' aunt and guardian asked for financial help.
Connor is furious that he'd been lied to, and feels betrayed by one of the few people he trusted. As part of the King family, he has experience with people, especially women, wanting to use him or his money to get what they want. He's certain that Dina has an agenda of her own, and he'll do whatever is necessary to claim his babies.
Dina is a successful caterer whose life was turned upside down by her sister's death and becoming guardian of her niece and nephews. She had always been under the impression that their father wasn't interested in them, so Connor's appearance surprised her, as did his determination to take custody of the kids.
There are sparks between Dina and Connor from the moment they met. Dina fights them hard because she can see herself falling for him. She doesn't trust men, especially rich ones, because she so often saw her mother constantly changing who she was to meet their expectations. She is afraid that she would do the same thing. Of course, the sparks burst into flame pretty quickly and she and Connor grow closer. As she feared, she falls in love with him, but knows that her love isn't returned.
I loved seeing Connor fall for the babies so quickly. Thanks to the multitude of children in the King family, he's not entirely inexperienced and I enjoyed seeing how he surprised Dina with his ability to take care of the kids. Because of who he is, Connor is used to getting what he wants, and he wants the kids. He pushes Dina into moving into his house with the children.
Connor also wants Dina. Having her and the kids living with him has given him something he didn't know he was missing, and he wants to make it permanent. Once he has what he wants, he realizes that what he feels is love, but he can't overcome his fear of trusting her. When those fears cause him to act like a complete fool, he nearly loses everything. I loved the conversation with his brother Colt (Double the Trouble) as Colt reminds him of what he went through. Dina also has to let go of her fears and learn to trust as well. The ending was pretty sweet.
I absolutely love the King family and I love Maureen Child. I’ve read about 35 of her books and I’ve enjoyed every one of them. Just like I love Connor and Dina, Sage, Sam and Sadie, too. As well as Angelica/Abuela’s advice. Love seeing Colton and Penny, Jefferson and Maura again.
It’s so obvious how Connor and Dina feel about each other, obvious to everyone except them. I like that in a book but I don’t like soooo much angst that it makes me crazy, which you find in 300 and 400 page books because authors need some way to fill up the pages.
This was a really good book. Maureen Child writes great love stories, with some great sex and I never get tired of her. AND she has plenty more books for me to read.
This was a fun book to read. I'm a sucker for books with babies, and this book had triplets that kept Connor, and Dina very busy. It was funny the first time he met his kids. Dina let him bath them, diaper them, read to them, and get them to bed. He survived, but I laughed through it.
Conner had no idea that he was a father, much less a father to triplets until he got sued for child support. His very good wanted to have a baby, and asked Conner to be her sperm donor. He agreed, but said he wanted to be in the child's life if they made a child. His good friend said she didn't get pregnant. They drifted apart as some friendships do over time. His friend died, and the guarding of the babies who is the Aunt, needs money to raise three babies. She finds out Connor is the father, and contacts a lawyer. Connor feels betrayed. He is hurt, and he is upset that he lost the 1st year of his children's life's.
There are sparks between Dina and Connor from the very first time they met. The sparks grew with time, and so did a friendship. They both fell in love with one another, but didn't want to admit it for the longest time. I loved how the two worked together for the most. This was a entertaining book.
Triple the Fun is a lighthearted little story, with just enough angst to keep the reader interested and enough love to insure a HEA. Conner is a billionaire who agreed to be the sperm donor for his best friend and her wife. When he was told the insemination didn’t result in a baby he went on with his life and the two mothers moved away. End of story. Or so he thought. Actually, the impregnation resulted in not one but three babies and the mothers moved away to keep Conner from being part of the children’s lives. Selfish of them and with repercussions no one imagined. Dina is the sister of one of the mothers and when the unthinkable happened, she was given custody of the babies in Elena and Jackie’s wills. Dina is a caterer barely making ends meet and realizes she’s going to need financial help for the triplets’ sake. When a letter in the mothers’ documents names Conner as the father she sues him for child support, not realizing he would actually want to be part of the babies’ lives other than writing a check every month. When Conner and Dina meet sparks fly. Sparks of all kinds. The rest of the story is up and down and finally up. Great, fun read, even if totally unrealistic. But that’s what fiction is, right?
Received Triple The Fun for an honest review. Filled with plenty of laughs this book is an adorable and enjoyable read. Triple the Fun by Maureen Child continues her King family series. Connor King is the father of triplets that he never knew existed. Now he has to learn how to take care of them. By becoming a father Connor just might gain the family he never knew he wanted. Smiled all the way through the story. Could not put it down. Finished in one day.
This book nearly broke my feels, had so much heart and humor, I could hardly put it down.
My Thoughts (full review):
This book absolutely caught me off guard in its wonderfulness. I picked it up thinking it would be a cheeky kind of story, but it turned out to give me so many feels I didn't even know how to begin to handle it.
Connor was asked years ago by his best friend, Jackie, to be the "baby daddy" for her wife, Elena. He donated his sperm, but they told him the artificial insemination didn't take. In the meantime, they had triplets, his children, without even telling him. He finds out from Dina, Elena's sister, when she gets in touch with them after the triplet's mothers died. He wants to be in their lives, even though Dina was given custody of the children. He won't take no for an answer and he will stop at nothing to get what he wants. He and Dina work out a deal, but they both get more than they bargain for when feelings come into play.
Triple the Fun was full of so much heart and humor, I finished with a smile and a sigh at how beautiful the story was. It was emotional, thinking about the losses both Connor and Dina faced, and then when Connor sees his children for the first time. I was on the brink of tears for the first part of the book, but still laughing just the same as Connor learns to play "daddy" for the first time. I loved how the two of them came together, how they learned to love each other and take care of the children. This story was brilliant, and I can't wait to read more by Maureen Child.
Not a love for me on this one, rather this was a like. I didn't feel that the connection between the two main characters was authentic. I thought that the chemistry was fair and that the build toward the relationship was so so. I had to continuously encourage myself to finish this story. With that said, I adored the babies. They were charmers.
Love the plot of this story. At times angry with Conner for taking so long to realize he was in love. This author just writes cute romances. Love her works.
Just because every woman he was been with seeks something from him doesn’t mean the woman he is falling in love with is lying to him and wants him for his name only.
This is a series have I have not even dived into and after seeing the amount of book this series has I am soo behind. I really liked the King family that I was able to meet in this book but oh boy did Mr. Connor King get me irritated but so did Dina Cortez. There was a setting in this book that will be in grated into my mind and if one of these days I would go to a different country overseas that would have to be Ireland. When I was reading what Dina saw I just fell in love.
Connor King gave his twin brother hell when his ex kept his twin’s away from him and now it seems that his best friend did the same thing. Him and Frankie were inseparable but then when Frankie and her partner got married and she asked him to be the father of her child. Connor did the only thing possible and said yes but when it didn’t take they left. He had no idea that it did take and that he had triplets out there that he would never see but then he gets an attorney letter suing him for child support.
Dina Cortez loved her sister but she had no idea that a King was the triplet’s father. She never wanted to ask him for anything but she was having a difficult time her sister and partner passes away 3 months ago and now she made a decision, she needed help raising the children. Dina knew that Connor had no idea about the triplet’s but she didn’t want for him to take them away from her. She knew that if he would file for sole custody he would get it so she wanted for him to see him fail at taking care of the triplet’s alone.
Connor and Dina have this instant chemistry but they fight it. Connor is a great father but when it comes to a relationship not so much. After he gets Dina and the kids in his home it was like he was king of the world he knew that once his children were in his home they would not leave. But all it takes is his own emotional state to ruin something that could have been perfect, he could have had the perfect family.
Triple the Fun was a enlightening read that I enjoyed. The characters were well developed. I can’t wait to read more of the King family.
Received ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an Honest Review
I requested this book because I am a mother of multiples (twins) and I find reading books with multiples fun.
Connor King gets the shock of his life when he gets sued for child support for a set of triplets he never knew about. He had donated sperm to his best friend and her wife to help them have a family, but they told him it didn't work and moved away. Now he finds out they lied to him. The triplet's mothers are dead and now their guardian wants his financial help.
I really wanted to like this book. I liked Connor and Dina separately. Connor's immediate connection with his children warmed my heart, but his ice cold approach to making them part of his life sort of bothered me. Dina was a little too much damsel in distress for me, her job as a caterer was interesting. Where they were both interesting characters none of that really shined through for me when they got together, I felt like all the ground work of getting to know each other went by the wayside. Yes they spent time together taking care of the trips - but not really finding a connection. I didn't get the overwhelming feeling there was much desire in this book, definitely not as this type of Harlequin books promote themselves as.
If you have been reading the King series definitely pick this one up - but if you are like me and new to the King brothers & cousins - maybe think twice.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review.
"2 out of 5 stars, three months ago Dina’s life completely changed when her sister and sister-in-law died in an unexpected accident leaving her the guardian of her precocious toddler nephews and niece. However, because of her not being able to afford to raise them on the salary she has she decides to get child support from the “sperm donor” (Connor) of the children, which ends up throwing another wrench in her plans when she finds that Connor wants to be a part of their lives no matter the cost. How much is she willing to give up or change about her life for the only family she has left?
From the very beginning, I was having a hard time getting over Jamie & Elena's lie about the kids, especially since Connor made it a stipulation about visitation rights for himself and they completely disregarded his wishes. Because of all of that, it made it hard to enjoy this novel, as I'd have like too."
I have to say I was a bit disappointed in this book, I expected it to be more humorous and cute since it has these elements: single-parent, triplets XD but sadly it was more serious than expected.
- I didn't like how the hero and heroine kept conspiring against each other so Taft they could get the custody of the kids.
- I didn't like how the hero's best friend lied I him about the kids and ditched him after.
- I didn't like how the heroine kept her distance and never trusted the hero's motives always thinking the worst
- I liked how the hero started to change his tactics towards the heroine when he realized he wanted her in his life too XD
- I liked how the triplets grew attached to both the hero and heroine it was really cute especially that one of them had his first word be Da XD
I liked this story, it was very different from what we usually see in the world of romances, but at the same time is normal to see this new arrangment from couples. Connor donated sperm for his friend but was told the procedure was unsucessfull. So they lied to him and now the parents have died and the babies aunt suddenly appeared asking for his money.
I didn't liked the attittude from his friend and all of sudden he needed to became a parent to three babies that he knew nothing about, but I liked the way he overcame the adversities and really tried.
Dina is the babies aunt and has no idea about the power behind the Kings name and it's completely overwelmed in a good way. The romance between these two was cute and fast, but the babies made everything more fun.
Conner King donates his sperm to his best friend Frankie and her wife Elena . They tell him that it didn't work, they lied and had triplets and he doesn't find out about them until they are killed and Elena's sister has the babies and tries to sue him for child support. He wants his children and he is sexually attracted to Dina, so the natural thing would be for them to move into his home. He comes from the wealthy King family so he trust no one and is even more on guard after being hurt by his best friends deceit. Love is hard for him as he is always questioning Dina's loyalty and she falls hard for him. Doubts and fear shadow their romance and even though they wed the past rules Connor. There is a HEA but a bumpy road comes first. A fun read I finished in a few hours.
Triple The Fun by Maureen Child was a good book. Connor King donates sperm to his best female friend and her female partner. They move and didn't tell Connor where they went. They end up have triples that he didn't know about. They both died in a plane crash when the triples were 18 months old. They gave the one girls sister custody of the triples. When Connor finds out about the triples and that Dina Cortez has custody of the children he goes to get the triples. A lot goes on in this story. Connor has female trust issues since he has money and females have used him to get to his money. A must read.
Upon the death of her older sister, Elena, and her wife, Jackie, Dina Cortez became the proud auntie/mama of a set of triplets (Sadie (girl), Sam (boy), and Sage (boy)). She was under the impression that the triplets father was out of the picture because he wanted to be. After all, the couple had gotten pregnant via fertilization so they must have struck a bargain with Jackie’s best friend, Connor, when he donated the sperm right?
"The custody arrangement is complicated and highlighted by the unique, and sometimes comedic, issues that children bring to any situation. When they set aside their fears, Dina and Connor work together, culminating in a wonderful, modern romance" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
Connor and Dina are fighting over the triplets. As legal guardian, Dina needs help and as the father, Connor wants custody. Can Connor wiggle Dina into moving into his home? Can he convince her to trust him? Dina knows the risks. She understands that her heart might break but she loves the babies. And unfortunately, their father. Maureen Child's Triple the Fun is a wonderful read!
On the one hand it was nice to see a lesbian couple marrying presented without issue. On the other hand, immediately making that couple the "bad guy" and killing them off was problematic. The series has also gotten to the point where Child is losing track of her characters (in this case the Kings who operate King Construction).
Once in a while I appreciate reading a good Harlequin, they remind me of Mexican soap operas. So once I saw this one had Triplets, I was totally on board. I enjoyed the book, the conflict was easily solved and I liked that a lot.
D2371 May15 Kings of California #14. Connor King finds out his best friend, Jackie and her wife, Elena, have died in an airplane crash. Jackie sister, Dina, has served his with child support papers., for children he hadn't been told about. He shows up determined to claim his children.
Another good King book by Maureen Child. Not my favorite and similar in some ways to Double the Trouble, but I guess with twins Conner and Colton, you get surprise babies in similar ways. Always a great story by this author, and I did really like Dina, the babies, and her grandmother.
