Allie Miller's life is a little crazy at the moment. She just found out she has a twin sister, she's been working day and night to get her PR business off the ground, and now her heart's decided to fall for her biggest professional rival, Jack Fletcher.
But Allie is used to life's challenges and intends to face this one—this very handsome, very charming one—head-on. However, when Jack suggests they be just friends, Allie is thrown for a loop. Lusting after the competition is one thing, but being his pal is nearly impossible…especially when she realizes she wants much more.
This was a really interesting concept: twins adopted separately and finding each other by accident years later. Allie and Jack are rivals in the PR business, but hit it off when they meet at a family wedding. Jack brought Charlotte to the wedding, they’re neighbors and friends. He mistakes Allie for Charlotte, and realizes they could be twins. Between the two women looking into their adoptions, and he and Allie vying for the same jobs, this was a great story.
I couldn't put this story down, perhaps because I was caught up in the adoption element and whether Allie really was a twin after thinking all her life she was simply an adopted daughter sandwiched between two sets of sibs, also adopted. Then there was her back story, which hinted that perhaps she wasn't as honest in her work as a marketing expert as she wanted her rival, too good-looking, Jack.
Then there were the other quirky characters in the story: Charlotte, Jack's neighbor, who is grieving the recent death of her adopted mother; and Allie's seriously matchmaking mother, who just can't seem to let it go that Allie has declared herself OFF men--until Jack's presence seriously challenges that decision.
All this and more kept me reading and reading and reading until I encountered what I think might be a hint that a future story will focus on Charlotte and both her back story and her future. Only the author of this great read knows!
