Hope MacGowan is a city girl but reeling from a break-up on top of a layoff has her determined to have a weekend away in the North Carolina mountains—even if all her friends have bailed at the last minute. Hope’s life is one big train-wreck and getting kidnapped by a tall, blond alien—even a gorgeous one—sure isn’t helping.
R’har crossed the galaxy to seek a mate on this newly discovered world and this delicate red-haired female is everything he’s dreamed of—except happy to find herself mated to him. R’har knows in his heart he’s her true mate, even if he’s not human. But taking her doesn’t mean he can keep her and somehow he has to convince Hope to choose him before time runs out...
I enjoyed the first book but this was a little disappointing, namely Hope. I didn't really like her, especially towards the end when she turns into a total bitch. R’har was great though. He totally deserved someone better than Hope. I'll still be reading the next book though. I'm liking the writing style and these virgin aliens. I just hope the next heroine is a little more bearable.
I am clearly in the mood for some good Science Fiction Romance. This was not it.
I am happy enought with the Mars Needs Women Trope. Cheesy, yes? Do I care? No. No I don't.
Big Tall Alien. Like it. Abuduction. Yeah. Fine.
The hero is a sweetie. The heroine worked my last nerve. Okay. I wouldn't want to be hauled off either but move on so we can have a book. Also, come on about the nasty ex. Be more pissed about your crap friends.
My what a difference a few months make. I HATED this heroine! Wanted to bitch slap her up until the very end. Hoped the entire time that the Hero would move on. I have to lower my score because I hated her that much.
Prior comments:
3.5 stars. I liked this one. Not as much as the first because the heroine was too slow to come around. I understood her hesitance, but I still wanted her to move faster! Hero is great. Very sweet, protective and devoted.
"You know, on Earth stalking a woman is creepy. And illegal." She folded her arms. "And creepy." His brow creased a little. "You said 'creepy' twice." "I didn't want you to miss it."
The g'hir may start their mating rituals with a loud roar followed by kidnapping, but there is something in the ritual that human women just aren't understanding. Thankfully our lovely heroine from Book 1, Jenna, negotiated that the women could only be kidnapped for 1 moon cycle. Then if they didn't want to stay, they would be returned to Earth unharmed.
R'Har is chosen as the first warrior to return to Earth in search of a lifemate. He comes prepared to fight bears and woo his mate with sweet sweet words. "I am not being 'nice.' I evaluated a number of human females for capture in the time I spent on your world. I cannot imagine a female more desirable than you."
After her fiancé breaks up with her via text for her best friend, she loses her job, and her "friends" ditch her with the bill for their definitely not happening girls weekend, Hope truly has hit rock bottom. She thought her life couldn't get any worse, until she wakes up cuffed and a strange alien is growling at her. Before she can even get her bearings, R'Har is unknowingly subjecting her to her deepest fear. When she wakes again, she is a trillion kilometers from Earth.
The second book in the Warriors of Hir has more action than the first. We meet the vile Zerars. We battle giant warships, and rough it on abandoned planets. But it isn't until fiery Hope arrives at Hir that the real action begins. It is clear that no g'hir really believed that a human would choose to return to Earth after the moon cycle is up. Now the second human female to arrive on the planet, is testing the new laws. Will the council really let her leave? Will they really return her to Earth unharmed?
They're fun, light, endearing reads and this one is just that!
Since the end of the first book I knew that R’har will be the hero of this one and I just knew that he would be unable to refrain himself from the mating roar! When exactly that happened, I started laughing! LOL
He's such a great hero. He's tender, he's fun and he's also devious, but, above all, he's so much in love that it's not even funny!
A great book for all those who love SF abduction romance, even if it is very similar to other such book. I didn't mind it at all and I'm looking forward to other books in this series! :)
After reading book 1 in this series and loving it, I knew I had to read the sequel. I’m not usually a big PNR fan and have read few alien romances that drew me in. Both of the books in this series managed to do so. Each one is a standalone about different couples, but you would really enjoy this one more if you read the first book in the series. The author has the ability to provide such glowing descriptive text that I could actually visualize the characters and the scenery. The g-hir people, although aliens from another planet, seem almost human.
When I started reading this book I was at first anxious that it was going to be a repeat of book 1, but then the author took a sharp turn and a totally different storyline emerged. Hope is your average American young woman who has not had the best luck in choosing men in her life. She has been dumped by her fiancé who carried on an affair with Hope’s BFF for a long time. Hope escapes to the mountains for a week of relaxation. Of course, her supposed BFF’s bail on her, which shows another weakness for Hope. She knew in her heart that her friends weren’t loyal, as she knew in her heart that her fiancé was not loyal.
Enter R’har, the warrior who has won the contest to come back to earth to find his life mate. His home planet has been decimated by their enemy using genocide to kill all of the women in their tribes. So now the planet of Hir is facing certain extinction if the warriors can’t find suitable mates to re-populate the planet. R’har is a loving, tender male who has a warrior’s heart with a deeply ingrained belief he must protect and cherish his life mate. Hope is your snarky, smart mouthed girl who can crack a sarcastic remark at just about anything but hides her true feelings deep within. The romance develops as the two journey back to the planet of Hir. They run into many problems along the way. Hope begins opening up to R’har and he helps her understand many of the feelings she has harbored for so long. Hope fights against the developing love and maintains she wants to return to earth. But then she falls for R’har and realizes she has nothing on earth that bounds her to it. The anxiety begins when Hope finds out R’har has lied to her about something, so she rejects his claim on her and demands to be returned to earth. The untruth R’har told her was actually a ploy to give him more time to make her love him and make her want to stay on Hir.
I was so caught up with this romance, feeling so sorry for R’har and his undying love for Hope, as well as feeling like Hope sometimes was to obstinate in her rejection of R’har. There is a HEA and I really liked the twist the author gave for the ending. Perfect conclusion to R’har and Hope’s love story. I recommend this book highly to any romance lover who likes PNR, alpha males with a sweet side and a love story that will touch your heart.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author for an honest review. I already had it on my calendar to buy and was so looking forward to the next book in the series. I could actually go on and on about this book but don’t want to take away the reading pleasure of discovering Hope and R’har, as well as the other interesting characters in the book.

I was obsessed with book one, I love PR/Sci-fi romance but this genre is lacking in my opinion so when I found book one I consumed it and loved it and wanted more once I finished the last word. Then I went to Goodreads and followed this author and stalked (slightly) her I wanted book two sooooo badly. When the author contacted me and offered to gift me(so kindly) with this book I was over the moon and began to stalk my email for my copy. Once I started this book I was hooked like a fish on a line. And now I feel like I'm going through withdraw. I love this author but she really isn't kind to me/us after giving us two of some of the best PR romance book I have read( and PR is the genre I started with and for years the only genre I would read) what am I supposed to do, WAIT? Yeah now I have to wait for book three and I want it even more than I wanted book two. This author has proven herself to me, book one wasn't a fluke or a lucky great first book she is genuinely insanely talented. So I ask again I'm supposed to wait for book three?
R’har was picked to be the next to find his mate and after searching when he finds Hope he knows she is the only mate for him. Capturing her and doing all to prove his worth R’har begins the journey home. What started as a trip with friends ended up being the end to one of the worst days of her life, not only was she let go of her job but she found out her best friend and fiancé were in love and her other friend knew the whole time(let me interject here, for real I wanted to kill her best friend yeah of course, she should be taken to the town square and have things thrown at her then tarred and feather and then banished to be alone for the rest of her life. BUT her other "friend" knew she was being cheated on and didn't say anything AND let her get engaged, hold your hats ladies and gentlemen AND after picking out brides maids dresses went back to CANCEL HER ORDER because she knew what was going on but never thought, hey I'm her friend I should tell her. Her "friends were some of the most disgusting people I have ever read about and I wanted to jump into this book and beat the crap out of them) K rant over:} Going to the weekend alone and spending some much needed time to grieve Hope is saved from and angry momma bear by R’har.
Seeing him Hope is scared and shocked and soon she finds out R'har's plans to mate with her. All Hope can think about is getting home, after R’har's promise that he will take her home Hope begins to relax and soon she gets to know R’har. Finding herself looking at R’har the same as any man and not an alien Hope finds herself falling for R’har. R’har has every intention of keeping Hope and making her want to stay. The longer they are together and the more they get to know each other. The more they each begin to fall in love and Hope begins to want a future with R’har as well as trusting him when trust is not something she does easily after being hurt by every man in her life. When the enemy attacks R’har and Hope make an emergency landing trying to escape. Just when they think they may be able to get help and get to R’har's planet the enemy attacks and puts R’har's life in danger. Thinking it is the end R’har confesses something to Hope making her question everything and wanting to return home and never see R’har again. Now everyone wants a chance at getting hope as their own. And soon their mating time will be up taking the choice away from Hope and R’har tearing them apart for good.
Wow Willow Danes blew me away with this book. She is an amazingly talented author who creates a world so real and intriguing. The world building and story development in this book was given as much care as the amazing characters .This world Ms. Danes created was real, when I was reading this book it wasn't just a story it was a real world with real people/aliens. R'har was just my type of hero. Possessive check that box a few times with a black permeant marker please, caring, loving, kind, strong determined um yes. R'har was astonishing, there wasn't anything to not love about him, he would make any woman want aliens to invade earth. Hope was a great heroine, she was leery but you couldn't blame her. Once she fell she fell hard for R'har, and when she thought R'har had betrayed her she was devastated.
This is one of those books you want to start all over again, you want to read faster because it is so good and at the same time want to slow down so the book won't end. In the end reading fast won out because I couldn't put this book down and could stop reading. Not only do we get great characters but we also get to see how the hero and heroine from book one are as well as a ton of new character's leaving me to hope that Ms. Danes keeps this series going for a long time to come. We get a small glimpse into book three making me even more excited and impatient. I don't know how these brilliant authors expect us to wait. Delivering such an amazing piece of brilliance then making u wait is just cruel. You can be sure I will be reading everything that Willow Dane writes. I can't wait for book three and any other in this series but I also can't wait for anything she writes.
Willow Danes has a way with words that takes you to the world she creates and puts you in the characters shoes and makes you live their journey with them. This is one author who deserves greatness, and all the accolades, and for everyone who loves romance or PR to give her a try. I can't recommend this author enough. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with her story telling. And I can't tell you enough how badly I want book three. I keep thinking but where do I go from here?
*Thank you Willow Danes for so kindly gifting me with a copy of your amazing book for my (I so hate saying "honest" review because it sounds so corny, and all reviews should be honest sadly some aren't honest so...) honest review , I can't thank you enough.
I know that she has been burned a lot in the past with guys, but she takes it all out on the wrong person. Here she has a person willing to do anything for her, and she takes out all her insecurities on him. Rather than take out all her anger out on her cheating fiancee.
I'm glad that Jenna gave her a verbal bitch slap in the end.
Well they do eventually get their HEA, I mean all's well ends well.
I have to quit at 50%. The heroine in this is so god awful I just couldn't handle it anymore. There is a difference from being stubborn to being an outright bitch. Now, if this book was based on realism, I think the h's behavior is very believable. But I don't read paranormal romance for realism so the h's behavior had me pulling my hair out. So when the h bitches the ENTIRE first half of the book and then talks to the h about her insecurities, I honestly could not give less of a fuck.
Side note: The H was great! He should have left her for someone else.
Other Side note: I always find it interesting that a lot of women authors cannot write a good heroine.
After the first book I was rather disappointed by this story. In the beginning you really feel bad for Hope, she just found out that her fiance was cheating on her before he even asked her to marry him, he then breaks up with her days before her wedding and to make it worse it was her best friend that he was cheating on her with. Then the icing on the cake is that her other friend who was to be a bride's maid knew for months and didn't tell her. Add on to that that her work just fired her and her apartment lease is ending in 10 days, you got to feel sorry for her! And sorry is what you feel right up until you realize that she is really just a self absorbed bitch with Daddy issues.
... Ok that's a little harsh. In a nut shell Hope has trust issues that are magnified by the fact that every boyfriend that she has ever had has cheated on her. I really want to feel for her but she spends the whole book wrapped up in her own world not asking any questions or truly giving R'har a chance. I will be fair and say that R'har didn't explain things as well as he should have to Hope and it would have helped a bit if he had and she had truly understood that being Lifemated meant 'mated for life' or 'bound for life' and not 'married' in the human sense.
I cant quite bring myself to give a 2 star rating, but really the 3 stars is really more like 2.5. There are a few redeeming qualities at the end of the book but they almost come too little too late.
1 star book, but it didn't make me hate (I don't think...I can't remember!), so 2 stars for that. I may have just read this last week? but I really can't remember much. Why you ask? Because it was goddamn boring. I was dozing off while reading this and forgot each time what I'd read when I woke up again from the stupor of ennui this book had put me into. It's not really a 2 star book, but since I didn't exactly hate it and want to burn it, I'm letting it go with 2 stars. I think there was something I thought was ok in it, maybe? Do you see? It was so boring I can't even recall it.
The second book in the Warriors of Hir series by Willow Danes. Holly MacGowan is taken from Earth by R'hur. Holly doesn't want to be an alien's mate but when technical difficulties strand them in space she gets to know the handsome alien warrior.
I loved R'hur but I didn't care for Hope through most of the story. Still I rooted for them to find their HEA. A fun series and I am looking forward to more.
Wow, I'm speechless this series is getting better and better. I like the way the Hir warriors are respectful and compassionate. This is definitely a good series to stay with.
I didn't like this as much as the first one. The H was nice enough but I hated the h. She was so whinny and annoying. Her constant rejection of the H, who clearly adored her, got really old. I wished the H would tell her to go take a hike and be done with her.
Hope was just dumped by her fiance' via text. So he could be with her BFF who is also supposed to be her maid of honor! To make matter worse, her other bridesmaid and BFF knew about the affair and never said anything! So she has lost her two BFFs her soon to be husband, oh did I mention she was also fired!
Yep, officially worst week ever!
Hope and her now Ex BFFs had a weekend trip planned out in the woods in a big rental with a hot tub. Instead of going back to her apartment (lease is up in ten days) and facing place full of wedding items and her shattered dreams, Hope goes on the weekend getaway by herself.
Hope, feeling like utter crap a depressed as hell decides to go for a walk in the woods. Did I mention before hope is a total city girl? So as you can imagine she gets into a life threatening situation in a nanosecond. In steps R'har to save the day!
R'har won the chance to capture a bride in a huge contest at the end of Captured. Luckily this time around he can understand what Hope is saying even though she can't understand him. At least not until he gives her a translator via injection. That whole scene had me laughing!
R'har has all the characteristics of a Hir warrior. Almost 7' tall, hugely muscled with glowing eyes and cranial ridges. He can't pass for human! No way no how!
You can imagine Hopes surprise to be essentially kidnapped by a huge alien. This is how Hope's mind works, all males are cheaters liars and can't be trusted. So she is dead set on going back to earth. She doesn't want to give R'har a chance even though he is such a good male that wants nothing more than to love and protect her. She really is an obnoxious bitch.
Taken like Captured was a fun, erotic read. Hope isn't one of my favorite characters but I understood where she was coming from.
R'har was great! If only we could count on all men to be 100% devoted and in love with us all the time! There would be no divorce!
I can't wait to see what comes next in this Series!...Sara
Overall: Hope is supposed to he on her bridal getaway with her two best friends, when she finds out that her maid of honor has been sleeping with her fiance for awhile and her other friend didn't want to tell her the news and decides not to show up at the lodge either. Hope is lost and depressed and runs out into the woods only to be almost attacked by a mama bear and her cubs, but a man jumps out and saves her, than tazes her. When Hope awakens she finds out that the man that took her is an alien from another world, who is looking for a life mate. After this point Hope and R'Har start to get to know each other because he claims that the ship "needs repairs" because of the damage it withstood on Earth. Hope starts to see R'Har in a different light when they are almost killed by the enemy and stranded on a deserted planet. At one point R'Har reveals something to Hope that has her looking at him in a different light. She turns her back on him and not until the end of the book does she decide what she really wants. They do get their HEA.
Pros: I really loved R'Har because no matter what he was put through, he came out on top and still loved Hope. I also really liked the warm welcome that Hope got to the Yir clan and all the clothes and jewelry she was awarded.
Cons: I honestly couldn't stand Hope throughout the whole book. I understand that she was hurt and has been hurt her whole life, but I thought it was bullshit that she kept taking it out on R'Har. The alien/man proved to be patient and very attentive of her and how she felt, but I felt that she should have at least gave him a real chance to show that he wasn't like the others in her past.
Wow! Just Wow! I totally fell in love with this book. I accidentally stumbled upon the work of this author while doing a somewhat random search for Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Romance novels and I am ever so ever so grateful I did. Taken is the second book of the Warriors of Hir series by Willow Danes and my very first time reading Danes work, and I must say, I'm definitely impressed. The story is cute, entertaining, exciting, thrilling, riveting, fast paced, humorous, heartwarming, sensual and oh so romantic. So dreamy! Sigh.....The dialogue is light, smart, sassy, easy to follow and very well written. But the main attraction of this stunningly romantic sci-fi/alien abduction creation is the characters. They are captivating, engaging, fascinating, endearing, laugh out loud funny and hotter than Hades! Oh my! I don't like spoilers and refuse to include them in my reviews but I will say this....Drop dead sexy aliens-check! Beautiful, fiery tempered, red haired graphic artist-check! Lying, cheating, now ex, fiancé and disloyal maid of honor-check! Danger, drama, intrigue, dying alien race, space travel, abduction and adventure-check! Heated attraction, sweet romance, explosive passion and steamy dreamy sex-you bet! That and a whole lot more! I can hardly wait to read Stolen, Book Three! This is a full length, stand alone series of novels with no cliffhangers but I would highly recommend reading them in order. Deliciously cute, delightfully humorous and incredibly entertaining!
Taken is a charming Sci Fi Romance from Willow Danes, the second in her Warriors of Hir series. In this story, just about everything bad that can happen does happen to Hope MacGowan. On top of all that, she gets kidnapped. By an alien. With a spaceship. R'har, has come all the way to earth to find the female that is perfect for him. Kidnapping Hope may be the accepted way to take a mate on R'har's homeworld, but not so much on earth.
The concept of the series is a familiar one. Due to war, disease, genocide or a combination of reasons, a humanoid alien race is desperate. Without females of another compatible race, they will die out within a few generations. I've read books in more than one other series with a similar premise so it must be a popular one. But when I started this series I was worried I would find it trite and not worth my time.
Not so. There are a couple of reasons. One is that I like Sci Fi Romance. You have your aliens and you have your romance. It is a perfect combination!
A second reason is that Taken is not a long novel. It is a sweet little romance with just the right amount of confict between the hero and heroine as well as trouble from outside forces. It is a satisfying way to fill a couple hours.
So for you Sci Fi Romance readers who need a quick fix, I recommend Taken!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

My thoughts: Cute Scifi read, the h annoyed me quite a bit. I think the H deserved someone better but it wasn’t enough to make me dislike the book.
Overall Rating: 3.75 Do You Recommend This Book: Yes ReRead: No Would You Read More Books By This Author: Yes
Of course read book 1 first just so you know who Jenna is and plus you get more background on Hir's past. This is a wonderful series. I couldn't wait for this 2nd book after reading the first. There is so much detail in it ( but not so much you start to just skim over parts) and so much emotion. The love these warriors have for their woman is so amazing. But the book is so much more, there's action and humor in it too. Yes there's sex and yes it's hot but at the same time it's not just sex. You understand the characters, why they do or react as they do. I just can't put into words just how good the book is. Willow Danes is up there with the other great paranormal writers. No I did not get an ARC but would pay to get one in the future! Lol it's just an absolutely must read book for paranormal, alien lovers, readers who love a good book.
It was interesting to see how the author managed to make this story fresh and different from the first one. I really enjoyed R'har. He was charming with his attempts to make jokes, his loving attention to Hope, and his protectiveness towards her. This is one of those books that I call "gallant alien" style, where the aliens are protective and possessive and just live to please and serve the woman they cherish. They are like white knights--except that these aliens like to capture their women! I thought Hope's backstory was good and that the complicating factors to her accepting R'hur and the Hir world were well done. The tension was agonizing at the end, wondering if and how they were going to wind up together. All in all a light, fun read for those who also enjoy books like Ice Planet Barbarians.
I LOVE this series. Aliens from another planet looking for women isn't a new concept for a story. However, it is normally corny and not well done. These stories are fantastic though. I was worried that seeing as how the premise for this one is the same as the first, they would be too similar. Thankfully they were two very different stories told. I hope this series continues for a long time. I can't wait for the doctors book next. It doesn't hurt that the stories include more than one of my weaknesses
I have really been enjoying this series by the talented author Willow Danes. She does a great job at writing characters who are believable and the story draws you in from the first chapter. The hero of this book is an alien male from the planet Hir, the heroine a recently dumped Earth woman who was cheated on by her fiancé and her best friend. Their meeting is dramatic, and the heroine has trust issue from her past. They have some adventure, a crash landing and an estrangement to get through before they find their happy ending. Overall a well written and enjoyable story. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series in the summer of 2015!
A wonderful build-up to their relationship with a HEA. Each new addition brings a new dimension of situations that will find you turning the pages to see what happens next. I'm recommending that you check out the series but each can stand alone but you'll find more enjoyment by reading about each of the warriors challenging mission to find their own lifemates on earth. Don't miss out on this series,I'm looking forward to the next addition this fantastic storyline.
