Wow I really loved this! The plot was catchy and unique. The storyline was always moving forward. I loved how many chapters ended with a crazy plot twist/cliff hanger. A great classic horror novel, I highly recommend for a quick binge-able read.

This is the first book in the Backwoods Grindhouse series and I can't wait to read the second one. It had me hooked from the beginning and I kept turning the pages. What happens when brutal murders in this small town, which is in Jackson Point has a podcaster come look into these murders...well not everything is what it seems. Will Trey the podcaster be able to find his way through the madness or will he nourish the roots of Jackson Point? Make sure to read this one! The author wrote this well and every character in it was great. Every twist in this was well done. I really enjoyed how creepy this one was. Overall, I loved this read a lot and would recommend it to any reader especially to those who love horror books.

This was an interesting read and unlike anything I’ve ever read before. Podcaster Trey is asked to come to small town Jackson Point by one of his listeners of The Dead and The Undead podcast, Kevin. There have been a series of killings and Kevin wants Treys help to figure out what’s going on.

I loved the true crime and creepy feel of this book. It’s not for the faint of heart as it does get pretty graphic which just made it all the better.

It was a fast paced read and I was invested in what happened to the characters.

The Rootmother part was a little out of my realm and I feel like the characters could have been a little more fleshed out. Overall I would definitely recommend this book.

The cover made me think it was going to be a slasher-in-the-woods kind of book, but it’s actually a folk horror novel with significant elements of gore, primeval gods, and temporal chaos.
The narrative style pulls you in and makes you want to keep turning the pages to see what happens next, making it an engaging and fast-paced read.
My main criticism is that the characters aren’t very well developed overall, and some plotlines are resolved in a rather unsatisfying way.
Recommended for fans of folk horror in particular, and horror in general.

Trey is a podcaster who comes to a small town to investigate a series of murders. What he finds is a lot more than he bargained for.

This was a creepy book! I really enjoyed how the story unfolded and the big reveal. The ending was satisfying too. It was some good folk horror with some gory bits. Great book.
