Alpha for Four: A MMMMM Contemporary Non-Shifter Mpreg Romance

Rate this book
In a world grappling with change, five men find a rule-bending love worth fighting for

Ronan and Teal are the picture-perfect couple leading the charge for omega rights. Society scrutinizes every move they make, and maintaining an image as a conventional alpha/omega pair is crucial for their success.

But when their omega neighbor Sorcha goes into heat, long-suppressed desires are unleashed. It becomes clear the couple is anything but typical.

Their nanny Niall and his boyfriend Jax have a front-row seat for all of it, providing a solid support system for the couple and their growing family. When the beta couple moves in to help keep them safe, the five men must confront their longing to embrace something unexpected.

Unexpected…and wonderful.

This is an MMMMM, omegaverse, mpreg, non-shifter emotional contemporary romance. It includes knotting, heats, and scenting, and a substantial focus on the mpreg aspect. Expect a chunky book with all the feels that builds to a HEA for five beautiful men. Enjoy!

I found this as rec in FB group & oh Boy, my "just checking it out" ended up being 5hrs of not able to give up reading this book, I did skip scenes as, like I said, I wasn't officially reading this but dang, this book just gripped me so I couldn't let go before that HEA 😅.

I loved the MCs, loved the dynamics, loved that it ended up into a "we're all together/ everybody fucks" polycule! The plot is interesting & Love's sweet. Betas do take their sweet time eh? 😆 I loved this family & the policy of good, open communication is always appreciated! It gets emotional, some scenes are angsty but I think it's on milder/Low-ish side on whole as the Love's solid.

I do have questions as to 1) are there any females in this world? Because why do I feel like they aren't... 2) Betas can get surrogates yet do N+J not wanna have kids? Cuz of those 10 kids (so many but if they have the money *shrug* as they do have the love for it), none are theirs 🤔. 3) How regular are the omega's heats? We didn't get a timeline there.

I hope the author writes more polycules!

I'm a bi dude who speaks English as his second language, makes a lot of mistakes in his writing, and is also allergic to editing.

So now that we have that out of the way..

I'm gonna be quick, so here's a quick summary of what I've read and then the bullet points:

This story is about Alpha Ronan and Omega Teal, who are married, their long-term nanny Niall and his boyfriend Jax, who are both Betas, and their neighbour Omega Sorcha.

Teal is a famous lawyer who is fighting for omega rights. In this world, omegas are systemically and fully oppressed. He works at a firm that is famous for fighting omega rights. Ronan was working in construction, frankly, I can't remember if he was just a contractor or owned a construction company.
They have a semi-open relationship, in the sense that they are open to having a third in their bed, but they both have to be present in the said bed.
Niall is their nanny and has been with them for years, he's also their ex/ ex fuck buddy. His boyfriend Jax is an architect.
Sorcha is their neighbour and, technically, a tenant. He does woodwork, and he lives with his evil uncle and step-uncle, who are the real tenants of the main couple.
Teal and Ronan have 3 kids, Alpha twins, and an Omega.

3 things happen:

1. Sorcha gets severely mistreated by his uncles. He's doing free labour for them and gets paid nothing. He's also forced to take suppressants to stop going into heat. Teal finds out and encourages him to stop taking them and he does, goes into heat, his uncles abandon him in the house and lock him up in his room, Teal finds him and realises he's in heat, calls Ronan, Ronan comes growling his way into the locked room and well, they both take care of Sorcha's heat, they do bare and he gets knocked up and they decide to make him their 3rd.
In case you didn't get it, he also gets pregnant.

2. Teal takes a new client and opens a case about omegas being able to have their own heat clinics. The far right movement and podcast bros of the world (aka Alpha movement) see this as a threat to the clinics run by Alpha and basically start to target both the client and Teal, and his family.
After some incidents, Everybody moves into their home. Through some situations, Teal gets poisoned and goes into a coma, all after winning the case. This whole shebang was the main plot.

3. We learn that Niall and Jax are monogamous, Niall comes clean about his past with his bosses, and Jax says he has to think about it, goes on a work trip, and comes back a new man, being open to poly.
Then he agrees to meet the bosses; they invite Sorcha, and everything goes from there.
Living in close proximity also makes the progress a bit more believable.

Now to the bullet points:

• Interesting idea overall, executed well enough and very enjoyable.

• Emotionally and personality-wise, it felt a bit hollow and shallow. Which is fine, I didn't mind it. The big words were said, but they felt out of place. Like, there was a connection between the 5, but I never thought "wow, they're in love". The characters also came off as very flat at times. I believe it's due to the 3rd person pov of the book; we don't get very personal and "inside his head" with them. Also, I think due to having so many MMCs and with the lack of depth to them and their storylines, it was harder to see them as anything but flat or surface-level. Still likeable characters tho.

• Kinda a slow burn, it got them almost over 60% of the book to all get together. It was moderately paced imo.

• The plot was entertaining, but it was very surface-level throughout the whole book. It read like "he went to court, said this and that (and this and that were never actually discussed), won the case, we all cheered". Again, I didn't expect to be mind blown, it's just an observation. It was still a very enjoyable plot. Very empowering.

• I'm very happy the author explored different personalities and dynamics within the polycole.
We had a submissive bottom omega, a switch vers bottom omega, a submissive vers beta, a dominant vers top beta, and a dominant alpha. Despite the book not being super deep or plot-heavy, the author very much put a lot of time into developing these dynamics.
I just hope they had a few 1-on-1s.
We only get 2 one-on-ones in the whole thing, one with Ronan and Teal, and one with Jax and Niall.
I wanted a few 1-on-1s, especially one with Jax and Ronan.

• We were teased a lot about Jax bottoming for Ronan, and it was done off-page and was pointed at in passing like it was no big deal. Considering Jax didn't like to bottom but wanted to experience it with Ronan, it could've been a very special moment and dare I say, highlight worthy in this book.

• The whole omega rights vs Alphas reminded me of how conservatives are trying to strip women of their rights, so in a sense, it was mirroring the reality.

• Too many kids by the epilogue, like Jesus.. 10???

• There were no women in this world. Interesting concept. I don't like it, but somehow it made sense to me. MPreg is a genre I have some critical issues with, and they are mine to deal with and make sense of.

All in all, I enjoyed this book. It kept me entertained, and I'm tuning in for more works from this author.
Congratulations on your debut under this pen name, Rian.
Wishing you all the best of luck.

This book completely and utterly charmed me! Even though I had to dip in and out of it due to boring real-life chores - it's almost 500 pages - I was excited to know it would be the 'reliable friend', and be there when I needed it afterwards.

I loved all five of the MMCs: they were all so incredibly endearing in their own ways, but all so supportive of each other, it was impossible not to! And don't even get me started about how gorgeous their boys are - they're a cuteness overload, especially the youngest, Zayne, who is just the sweetest little poppet.

But while I loved them all, I did have a massive soft spot for the two betas with Niall’s easygoing, flirtatious kindness and Jax's dependable broodiness. I adored seeing their own relationship evolve to become even stronger after Niall feels brave enough to be honest about his previous relationship with Ronan and Teal, and Jax - to his immense credit - doesn't act rashly despite his (understandable) extreme emotions to the news, taking time to think things through rather than reacting on instinct. The honesty and trust he displays just shows so much about him as a person and about their relationship - honestly, it was beautifully done, and the strong communication theme continues throughout the book with the whole family. I really loved how they always delved into their issues and worked through them openly and honestly.

I absolutely adored when the MMCs decided to live together for the children's safety and then naturally became a family unit even before the two betas officially joined in a capacity more than 'just' good friends. They fit together so seamlessly as though they were pieces of a puzzle. I think my heart may have swelled three sizes bigger when they finally all accepted their feelings and their places in the 'pack' - those silly betas - and officially became one big family *big sigh of happiness*.

And while we get all the gooey, lovely goodness from that wonderful family, we also have an important lesson in how cruel the world can be in their prejudice. Teal's an amazing omega who fights for the rights of others of the same designation, and we see both the positive and negative consequences of that and how it affects the whole family. Those were some deeply emotive scenes, and just made me cheer on Teal's amazing efforts even more.

I'd give this probably a 4.25-4.5 rating, somewhere in there!

What I loved most about this book was the discussion on polyamory and how natural and organic the relationships formed between all 5 men. I love that we had sweet and special moments with them together and then in smaller pairings, like Teal with Sorcha, and Jax and Sorcha, and then Jax and Ronan. I really loved how they brought different dynamics to the overall poly-relationship.

My thing that keeps this from 5 stars for me is that I just had a lot of moments where I was skimming and skipping, and there were times when I just didn't really pick this book up. Mostly due to the things going on outside of the relationship. And I know that a book can have both things, but there was just a lot of social commentary on omega status, omega rights, a very binary way of looking at relationships, and conflict from other people. It was just....a lot going on in this book for me, when I wanted to focus on Jax and Niall getting closer to Ronan, Teal, and Sorcha.

When the steam hits, boy does it! There are two heats in this as all 5 men grow closer. I really loved the moments with Sorcha earlier in the book.

But holy cow, TEN kids?!?! LOL.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. If you're looking for a true poly omegaverse with a lot of society and world building, check this one out!

This is so different than any other book I've read especially any Omegaverse I've read. The fact that there is no females whatsoever it's crazy. This is definitely a Slow Burn which normally is not my preference. But this book was so well written that you couldn't help but enjoy it. There were many instances that became emotional because of things that were going on in the book. But I would completely recommend it.

What a great omegaverse story.

I'm not one that usually enjoys more than mmm but this was very well written.

Set in an all male world, there are omegas, betas, and alphas. Alphas are the top of the hierarchy while overhead get the short stick.
It's got heat, but there's more to it than that, there's real love between them.

This is the first I've read from this author but it won't be the last

I have to say that I was not totally into the story at first. Somewhere along the way I became immersed in it and loved every bit of the trip. Interesting characters and a dynamic plot all presented with lovely pacing. And the sex . .. . OMG - yep worth reading.

This book is on the chonkier side, and we get character and relationship development between five main characters. This was well done though, and I enjoyed the story.

really liked it

I really liked this book. 4 stars for rating, 3.5 for spice. I enjoyed all of the main characters. And the kids were adorable. The story overall was well done, but it felt slow in some spots and a bit too long.

Well fleshed out story and characters. I loved that nobody was left out of the relationship or made to feel like an extra or side character. One of the best poly stories I’ve read.

4.25!!

This was sooo charming. I wished we had more of the mpreg, and experienced the omegas during the pregnancy but honestly the rest of the book was so fun and exciting I hardly noticed.

It was sweet and sexy, I loved the little kiddos and how they were so protective of their fathers.

Going from a couple to an MMMMM household with their growing family was fun to see, each parent having their space to be.
