This series has ended on the best note - this one is definitely my favorite one of the series.

Tyler & Indy developed a friendship that her parents were not a fan of. She was the good girl and he was a bad boy. They had a marriage of convenience just so she could gain some independence from her parents. He went away in the army and they kept in touch for years through letters where they slowly fell in love with each other... until one day, he sent her a letter breaking her heart and letting her go.

Years later they run into each other again and those buried feelings come bubbling to the surface. The yearning between these two... the desire & the hurt.. I could feel every bit of it. They definitely had some obstacles to overcome if they wanted to work things out. There were some twists thrown in that I definitely didn't see coming and I loved how supportive Tyler was of her. He never left her side again. I found myself tearing up a few parts during this book!! It had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Oh and the found family aspect - love it so much!!

Embers in Our Souls releases November 5. Thanks so much to Stefanie Castro & The Author Agency for this ARC!

“You held my soul in your hands and it has been yours ever since.”

This story was everything I didn’t realize I needed as an ending to the amazing series. Indy and Tyler’s story and the trials and tribulations they had to go through during their lives to end up back together was written so beautifully and thoughtfully.

I loved Indy so much. The way she stepped up and took on the responsibilities of a child after a tragic loss made her easily one of my favorite FMCs. She’s so gentle and she knows she can’t withstand another heartbreak. I really admired the way she navigated Tyler coming back into her life. It was the perfect slow progression I could have asked for.

Tyler did some major growing up from the beginning of the book. The wild and reckless teenager turned into such an amazing, honorable man. I love the fierceness in which he would not give up on Indy, no matter what words she chose to throw at him.

The two of them together were really a force to be reckoned with. They brought out the most amazing qualities in each other and the relationship growth between Tyler and Indy’s son, Noah was the sweetest. 🥹 I think all around this was just such a beautiful story based on growth, deserved second chances and yearning. I also loved that we get so many amazing cameo’s of all the previous books couples throughout this story.

“The person that captured me, not just my heart, but my soul, and never let me live my life the same afterwards. I’ve lived trying to find myself again, but all roads led back to you, and I’ll be forever grateful.”

If there is one thing I could say about this series as it comes to an end it’s that I love the way the author has a big reveal of how the characters are connected in an unknowing way. Without giving anything away, if you’ve read them, you know, but it always just is the most touching and beautiful point of each book and I’ve looked forward to it with every story.

Thank you times a million to the author, Stefanie, and The Author Agency for the #gifted e-ARC and for allowing me to early read each book in this amazing series. I’m so sad to see it come to an end because I’ve loved every character along the way, but I’m so excited to see what you have planned next! 🫶🏻

A second chance worth the wait, Embers in Our Souls is the kind of book that sneaks up on you, quietly devastating and unexpectedly hopeful in equal measure.

Indy is the FMC we deserve: battle-worn but not broken, thrust into motherhood by tragedy rather than choice, yet rising to meet it with unmatched grace.

And Tyler? He's undergone the ultimate glow-up. The once reckless boy has transformed into a man who knows exactly what he wants and refuses to accept anything less. His devotion is butterfly inducing — the kind that doesn't flinch when met with walls built from old wounds.

The measured pace of their reunion feels earned, each tentative step forward a small victory against the weight of their history.

Stefanie’s gift for weaving her universe together is so special, with couples from previous books making appearances that feel like reunions with old friends. But it's her signature twist - a brilliant reveal of invisible threads connecting her characters - that really makes her stories amazing. It's a storytelling sleight of hand that transforms each book from a standalone love story into something more profound: a serendipitous look at how we're all connected in ways we can't possibly foresee.

Embers in Our Souls is about growth, yes, and second chances, certainly. But mostly it's about the quiet courage it takes to try again when trying again feels impossible. Stefanie has crafted a finale that honors both the journey and the destination—and if you're not teary-eyed by the end, check your pulse.

What a great ending to the series, and my favorite book in the series. The journey that Indy and Tyler took us on was difficult but so worth it. The growth and maturity these characters give us makes for a realist story. The courage to move forward and try again, shows strength.

Indy and Tyler have known each other for some time, the relationship forbidden by her parents, yet a solution for her to move forward. Years of letters fill us in on thoughts and feelings, and heartbreak.

I was hooked on this book, and it was almost a one sitting read. A roller coaster of emotions, and worth it.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

"I loved you then and I love you now."

"Our souls felt like they were searching for each other and when we became friends, the world righted itself, at least for me, and I was happier."

“Something about Tyler always bit from the beginning Like he was carved just for me and ween he touches me, it feels like he lenous exactly what I need.”

“Like the dark with the light colliding and what it produced was the most beautiful of sunsets. Our souls felt like they were searching for each other and when we became friends. the world righted itself, at least for me, and I was happier.”

“I can see working as a firefighter has made him grow muscles in places along his shoulders where maybe the Army didn't before. His arms look stronger, even though he bulked up previously. He has definitely become more defined in that area. As he walks further into the house, I try not to ogle him, although Im probably failing miserably.”

All I can say is having Tyler’s h4nds exploring my b0dy felt like returning home after years of feeling lost. The man had me seeing $tars all night.

He’s starting to break me at the seams. I’ve glued myself back together after years of building these cement walls up once he tore me down. I can’t let my husband see through my cracks because if I fall in love with him again—I might not pull myself out.

“It’s always been you, Ty.”

“I missed you. I missed us.”
“Took you long enough.”
“Yeah, I was an idiot.””

This was beautifully written, hooked me from the very first chapter. Our FMC Indiana Ranton (Indy) and MMC Tyler Hunter, Their relationship began when studious Indiana and rebellious Tyler slowly build a forbidden friendship—one that her parents absolutely would not allow. To gain her freedom from her parents, they entered a marriage-of-convenience, believing it was a quick solution that would help them both out, but
Through years of letter writing, however, they realized their feelings had deepened, and they both wanted more than just a convenient arrangement. Before they ever get a chance to share their true feelings for each other, Tyler shatters Indy's heart with a betrayal.
Years later, after life has taken them on completely different paths, Indy is determined to finally dissolve their marriage-but it quickly proves to be more complicated than she ever hoped. The tension and passion and chemistry is understandable even years of being apart! I was completely invested in their journey. Wrapped up in their emotions. You can't help but root for them as they navigate their past mistakes and current heartbreak.
If you love a deeply emotional second-chance romance with high stakes and a strong focus on the complicated history of a couple, this book is a must-read.(lived when Tyler’s friend snook the two letters he never sent her, that was her turning point 💕) 💯 recommend!

I have loved Stefanie Castro’s writing since I discovered her as an author. She puts so much heart and passion into her writing it is impossible to not feel what her characters are feeling, experience a full range of emotions, and leave with a full heart. Embers in Our Souls is book 4 in her Boston Embers series. This book is filled with raw emotion that hits so deep that I had to stop at times to just soak it all in. Stefanie brings her characters to life with ease and allows her readers to become immersed in their stories.

Indy is strong beyond belief. She is written with such grace, but an inner strength that I was envious of at times. Life has not been kind to hear, but she wears her battle scars with pride and rises up to every challenge thrown at her. When she was younger she befriended Tyler, someone her parents absolutely don’t approve of. They decide to get married, to allow Indy the freedom she craves, but slowly their decision for convenience develops into something more. But Tyler breaks her heart and she moves on. She is ready for the marriage to be dissolved.

Tyler was rebellious as a teen and truly wanted to give Indy everything she wanted. He can’t help but fall for her, but he makes a huge mistake and ruins the best thing that ever happened to him. When Indy comes back into this life, although she is there to dissolve their marriage, he is determined to show her the man he has become. Wanting to win her back, he has his work cut for him, but he is up to the task. I adored Tyler and everything he was willing to do to win Indy back. I was rooting for these two from the very beginning.

Stefanie gives readers a second chance romance they will eat up. As Tyler and Indy rekindle what they once had, Stefanie does everything right! We have angst, yearning, drama, and spice that all mixes into a can’t put down read. She brings characters back from earlier books that help guide our two MCs. I couldn’t read this book fast enough, but also never wanted it to end. Stefanie shows how talented she is with her writing and ability to make our fictional characters feel like family.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

Let’s start with the writing style. There is so much inner monologue, the same thing repeated every chapter. During the first 60% you will read Tyler regretting pushing her away and thinking that he will need to tell her why. And each chapter he doesn’t. You will read Indiana thinking that she needs to talk to Tyler to get closure so she can move on (she already has a nerd boyfriend) but the talk never happens. We really didn’t need this dragging and being repeated for more than half of the book.

Let’s move on. I have no idea why I keep doing this to myself.
I hate(!) second chance tropes. Why? Because the reason why they break up is always stupid. This one was no different. He was in a mess, PTSD and all that and didn't want to hurt her so he pushed her away.

The book starts with them in (high)school where he was screwing around, she had a boyfriend (who became a cheater ofcourse).
Then they got married (only for convenience and insurance) and hooked up. Then he joined the army and got deployed. They kept sending eachother letters.
During his deployment he got back once during a weekend and they hooked up some more. We don't know if they have been screwing other people during the time they were writing eachother, because that would be just awful.

Fast forward to them meeting again, she has a nerd boyfriend and he has been screwing around right up to the moment they meet again (all while still married to eachother, for some other convenience now),

I haven’t been on a date or hooked up with anyone since I ran into Indy.

I’ve never experienced what I had with her with anyone else. I’ve looked—damn have I searched for it with another woman—no one grabbed at my heart the way Indy has, nor do I think anyone will.

Is this supposed to be sweet?☠️

That plot twist at the end. Just no! I'm out of here.

✨️✨️ARC Review✨️✨️

Embers in Our Souls is a tender, second chance, marriage of convenience romance and the final book in Stefanie Castro’s Boston Embers series.

Indiana Ranton and Tyler Hunter have known each other since childhood: she was the rule-follower, and he was the rebel her parents warned her against.

Their marriage begins as a pragmatic act of defiance and a way for Indy to gain independence from her parents, but years of heartfelt letters slowly transform friendship into something deeper. Before either can confess their feelings, Tyler breaks Indy’s heart, along with his own, sending them down separate paths.

Years later, a chance encounter reunites them, and Indy is determined to finally end their marriage. However, Tyler has other plans. What follows is a story about forgiveness, rediscovery, and the complicated line between love and regret.

I found this to be a really sweet and enjoyable read. The emotional connection between Indy and Tyler felt genuine, and the slow-burn development of their relationship was satisfying. However, at times the pacing dragged a little; the back and forth of Indy’s indecision (“will she, won’t she?”) stretched the story more than necessary.

Roger’s inclusion also felt somewhat out of place. His presence did not meaningfully alter the plot, and the story could have worked almost the same without him.

What truly stood out to me was the found family element, which added warmth and depth to the emotional core of the book. And Tyler’s tenderness towards Noah? Irresistible. There is something undeniably heart-melting about a man who loves not just the woman, but the people she loves too.

Overall, Embers in Our Souls is a heartfelt, slow-paced second chance romance that rewards patient readers with emotional payoff and genuine warmth.

Embers in Our Souls by Stefanie Castro is a beautifully written story that hooked me from the very first page, diving into the poignant question: What should you do when you fall in love with the person you are only married to out of convenience?

The book tells the story of Indiana Ranton (Indy) and Tyler Hunter. Their relationship began when studious Indiana and rebellious Tyler slowly built a forbidden friendship—one that her parents absolutely would not allow. To gain her freedom to choose her own path, they entered a marriage-of-convenience, believing it was simply a means to an end.

Through years of letter writing, however, they realized their feelings had deepened, and they both wanted more than just a convenient arrangement. Unfortunately, before they ever had a chance to share their true feelings, Tyler shatters Indy’s heart with a betrayal.

Years later, after life has taken them on completely different paths, Indy is determined to finally dissolve their marriage—but it quickly proves to be far more complicated than she ever hoped. The central tension of this interconnected standalone (the fourth book in the Boston Embers series) is whether Tyler can win Indy back, or if his past betrayal will prove too much for her to forgive.

I was completely invested in their journey. The chemistry between Indy and Tyler is undeniable, even beneath the years of pain and separation. You can't help but root for them as they navigate their past mistakes and current heartbreak. If you love a deeply emotional second-chance romance with high stakes and a strong focus on the complicated history of a couple, this book is a must-read.

After Indiana’s high school graduation, she finds out she’s adopted and becomes estranged with her parents.

She meets Tyler at Hoover Dam, a special place for both of them to go to and to help with her newfound health issues, Tyler and Indy get married.

Fast forward eleven years, Tyler and Indy are still married but estranged, but meet again after her son, Noah, has an allergic reaction to a bee sting and Tyler is one of the firefighters to attend to him.

Every time they set a time to meet, something ends up happening and interrupts them. Add to that, Indy has a boyfriend. A boring boyfriend at that.

Eventually, Tyler tells Indy the truth about his letter breaking up with Indy. And let’s just say Indy isn’t any happier. Then, Malloy, Tylers coworker and friend, sneakily takes two letters Tyler to Indy that he never sent her and that’s the turning point for Indy.

Indy hires a PI to find out who her birth parents are, and you won’t guess who it is! It’s a twist I didn’t see coming at all and it blew my mind! I freaking loved it so much, but it is also heartbreaking. I literally cried from the moment she finds out who her birth parents are to the end of the book!

I enjoyed the letters Indy and Tyler wrote back and forth while he was in the army, but the last letter he sent her broke me!

I enjoyed the endless banter and shenanigans between Tyler’s group of friends, and I love Indy’s best friend Kalli, she’s fun and supportive of her and Noah. I loved the relationship Tyler builds with Noah, who looks up to him. I love that Tyler and Indy are able to rekindle their relationship and connection.

ARC - 4 🌟 2 🌶️

🚒 Marriage of convenience
✨ Single mother x firefighter
🚒 Chronic illness rep
✨ Found family

So it's all about Indy and Tyler. Remember how she was the good girl and he was the bad boy? They started as secret friends, and then basically got married for convenience just so she could ditch her parents' rules. He went off in the army, and they were, like, epic pen pals, falling totally in love through letters... until he ghosted her with a heart-shattering breakup note.

Years later, they run into each other, and you can practically feel the sparks, the hurt, the sheer yearningcoming off the pages. It was a total emotional rollercoaster!

Indy is seriously a new favorite fmc added to my list. She's so gentle, but she had to step up and raise a kid after a major tragedy, which just makes her a total boss. And Tyler? He went through the ultimate glow-up! He was a mess back then, but he comes back an honorable, devoted man who refuses to give up on her, no matter how many walls she puts up.

Their second chance is so well-done, it's slow, but it feels so earned, especially watching him bond with her son, Noah.Plus, there are some twists I did NOT see coming! I definitely teared up a few times. And the found family vibes and all the cameos from the old couples? I LIVE for it!

Basically, it's a story about growth, second chances, and finding the one person who captured your soul.

Thank you so much The Author Agency for this arc opportunity! I the perfect ending for this series.

I'm back with the fourth book in the Boston Embers series - I know what you're all going to ask....and nope, I still haven't caught up with book 1 - but I couldn't resist diving back into this series having loved books 2 & 3 through this year.

As this series follows a different couple each time, these books work so well as standalone reads and although some characters do return, this is so well written to incorporate them into the current storyline without causing any confusion.

This book sees Indy and Tyler's story and what an emotional rollercoaster this was.

I loved getting to each of them and their backstory, but this really did break my heart.

After years apart, we see the pair reunite and it's time to make a clean break, but it was so clear (to us, the reader) that the two had such a bond and strong feelings for each other - I was just rooting for them the overcome all that hurt from the past and let each other back in.

Tyler tried so hard to make up for the past but I could totally understand how Indy was feeling.

The writing style really draws you into each story and into the characters world and these flow so beautifully alongside each other.

It's been great to see how each of the books link together and I've loved each of the stories so far.

I believe this is the last in the series, so I really must go back and read the first book now as I'm really not quite ready to leave this world.

I can't wait to see what this author brings next as I'll certainly be watching and waiting with anticipation.

Oh wow — I honestly don’t know why I waited so long to pick up this series, but what a way to start. This book completely swept me off my feet. The storytelling is powerful and heartfelt, delivering a beautifully layered second-chance romance that hits all the emotional notes.
I absolutely adored Indy and Tyler. Their love story is tender, messy, and deeply real. They’ve weathered heartbreak before, and the breakup that tore them apart left lasting scars on both sides. Tyler is burdened by regrets from the man he was before and while in the army, while Indy has stepped into a life-changing role, raising her brother’s son after losing him far too soon. The grief, the growth, the responsibility — it all adds such depth to her character.
When fate pulls them back into each other’s orbit, the spark is instant. Tyler knows exactly what he lost, and this time he’s determined to fight for Indy with everything he has. But Indy has built walls around her heart, and letting him back in might just be the hardest thing she’s ever had to do.
Their chemistry is utterly combustible — the kind that leaps off the pages — and the emotional tension between them keeps you completely glued to the story. With a few unexpected twists and heartfelt moments, this book is the kind of read that settles into your soul. It will tug at your heartstrings, make you swoon, and leave you rooting for these two all the way to their well-earned HEA.

Indiana & Tyler : End Game

Did I read this as a standalone but it’s book 4 in a series? Yes. Did I feel like I was missing things? No.
Am I going back to reads books 1-3? Yes.

When Indianas life has settled she gets the call her son Noah has taken and allergic reaction… and who should be the fireman hand.. Tyler. Who she hasn’t seen in years since his last letter left her broken hearted.

I couldn’t put this book down. I love a good second chance romance and this book hit the feels even harder when George, her brother and the adoptions are brought up!

The spice man the spice. 🥵

The fact Tyler is thirst trap with his content and even the other guys getting involved in it! So funny how much River just wants everyone to love him on the fan page!

Malloy being the meddler and settling Tyler & Indy on track was so good!! Loved how much they all care for each other.

When Indiana finds out who her Jerry & Scarlett… to say I was shocked!! But also it was bitter sweet, I felt more for Tyler because his best friend turned out to be ever more to him now. And he “officially” gets to call his parent’s family.

Honestly cannot wait to read the rest of these books if this one is anything to go by 💗

Ughhh this book hurt in all the right ways. “Embers in Our Soul” is one of those slow-burn, emotional rollercoasters that just gets under your skin and stays there. Stefanie Castro knows exactly how to pull every single feeling out of you—love, heartbreak, longing, frustration, hope.

Indy and Tyler’s story is messy and complicated and so heartbreakingly beautiful. The whole marriage-of-convenience thing mixed with childhood friendship and years of distance? Absolute catnip for me. Their letters, the miscommunication, the years of missed chances—it all just hit so deep. I was yelling at them to finally talk, to finally be honest, but when they did? My heart melted.

Tyler completely ruined me—he made me mad, then made me swoon two pages later. And Indy? She’s fierce and loyal and deserves the world. I loved watching her rediscover her voice and strength.

It’s not a perfect book—some parts dragged a little—but honestly, I didn’t even care because the emotional payoff was so worth it. This book burned slow and steady, and by the end, I was fully consumed.

Stefanie Castro delivered a second-chance love story that felt raw, tender, and completely unforgettable. My heart’s still glowing from it

3.5⭐️ | 2.5🌶️

This book was honestly super cute, and I really enjoyed both the story and the characters. It had that comforting, feel-good vibe that makes you want to curl up and read it in one sitting.

There is truly nothing I love more than a good “my wife” moment, and we got some solid ones here that made me smile every single time. The found family element was another highlight for me. I loved how important the side characters were to the story and how they helped create such a warm, connected atmosphere. Although, I’ll admit, it got a little overwhelming at times trying to keep track of who everyone was.

The full circle moment at the end wrapped everything up beautifully. It felt satisfying and genuinely made me happy to see how things came together.

That said, the writing itself felt pretty basic at times. There was a lot of telling instead of showing, which made some emotional moments fall a bit flat. Still, the story had so much potential and the heart was definitely there. The bones are solid, and with a bit more polish, this could have easily been a new favorite. It’s a charming read that I’d still recommend checking out if you’re in the mood for something sweet and comforting.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a honest review

Embers In Our Soul was such a great way to wrap up this series. I’ve loved every single book Stefanie Castro has given us, but this one felt extra sweet. Of course, Stefanie always sneaks in a little bit of trauma and healing (as she should!), and this book had the perfect balance of both.

This is a second chance romance with a marriage of convenience, and after that cliffhanger from the last book, I couldn’t wait to jump in. Indy absolutely deserves the world—she’s one of those FMCs who steps up when she’s needed most and never hesitates to do what has to be done. And Tyler! The former bad boy turned perfect man who knows exactly what he wants. Watching him stand by Indy, support her, and love her through everything was just great.

They had their issues, but once they faced them, these two were unstoppable. I loved their growth, their chemistry, and how real their journey felt.

The only reason it’s not a full five stars for me is because I’m not usually a fan of going back in time. It worked for the story and was definitely needed, but it’s just not my favorite thing personally.

All in all, Embers In Our Soul was a beautiful, emotional, and heartwarming way to end the series. I’m so sad it’s over, but wow—what an ending.

The Boston Embers series closes with Embers In Our Souls, and I think that Indy and Tyler's second-chance, marriage-of-convenience story was my favorite of the bunch!

The story begins when they have just graduated from high school. They had been secret friends years earlier until her parents put the kibosh on that because Tyler is from the wrong side of town. Now, Indy, who is in the midst of some health issues, found out that her parents have lied to her for her entire life. Tyler is about to ship out for boot camp, and suggests they get married so she can have access to his health insurance and gain some independence from her parents. Years later, Indy is raising her brother's son as a single mom when they run into each other when her son has an allergic reaction at school. Neither had any idea that they were both in Boston, but now that Indy is back in his orbit, Tyler isn't about to give up on trying to win her back. But as their story unfolds through letters they'd written to each other in the past, we learn that Tyler broke Indy's heart, and it's not going to be an easy road to get her to forgive him.

I so enjoyed this story. There is so much hurt between Ty and Indy. But he never leaves her side in his quest to win her back. Tyler hadn't been in a good headspace several years ago, but he'd put in the work to fix himself and was ready to be the guy Indy deserved.

Their reunion was worth the wait, and so was the HEA for this couple! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Embers in Our Souls follows Tyler and Indiana—two people who fell in love young, broke apart, and somehow found their way back to each other through time, loss, and fate. It’s an emotional second-chance story filled with heartbreak, hope, and the kind of love that survives everything.
This book was such a beautiful surprise. The writing felt soft but raw, and Tyler completely stole my heart. I loved how their relationship wasn’t about perfection but healing. The firehouse scenes, the emotional flashbacks, the little boy Noah everything felt so real and full of warmth.
It’s one of those stories that start heavy but end with a quiet kind of peace. I kept smiling and tearing up at the same time. Stefanie Castro really knows how to write love that hurts first and heals later.
Thank you so much the author agency for the free ARC!

This is the fourth book in this impressive series, and this is Indiana and Tyler’s story.
Indi is studious, while Tyler is rebellious, and growing up they were best friends, which her parents forbid, and they get married straight after high school so Indi can follow her own path in life. Indi went to college and Tyler joined the marines, and they kept in touch by letters. Now 11-years later, they are still married but estranged. Indi is a single mom to her brother’s son, and when he has an allergic reaction, Tyler is one of the first responders. Indi wants a divorce, and Tyler is determined to win her back, but is forgiveness on the cards?
This is a well written easy to read story, with found family, friendships, emotions, betrayal, marriage of convenience, heartbreak, chronic illness rep, second chances, challenges, shenanigans, humour, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I'm still not over Indy & Ty's story, it was just the most beautiful & emotional story with two of the most gorgeous main characters that you can't help but fall in love with. Indy & Tyler met as kids & were the opposite in every way but quickly formed a bond that grew into the strongest friendship even when miles apart & only communicating through letters but then life blew up & their friendship & growing love was shattered. After nearly six years of estrangement they come face to face and all the past hurt comes crashing to the surface. So much has changed in the time they've been apart, neither being the same person they were back then but can they move past all the hurt, pain & heartbreak & find their way back to each other?

This was such a well written moving story with amazing characters; little Noah is adorable and Ty's friend group & Indy’s bestie are the best ride or dies. I absolutely loved that we got to read some of Ty & Indy’s letters to each other, it gave the best insight into their friendship & past.

I absolutely loved everything about this book.

4 Stars for this heartbreaking story

Tyler and Indy's story broke my heart ... over and over. Tyler for the loss of his best friend in the army and Indy for loosing her brother. I so wanted them to have a happy ending. There was a twist at the end that I didn't see coming and I can usually tell what's coming next. It was really nice to catch up with the characters from previous books in this series.

Tyler and Indiana were secret friends in high school and when they were eighteen they got married (so Indy could use Tyler's health insurance) and spent one night together. Indy found out she was adopted and she was sick, while Tyler went off to serve his country. For six years they only communicated by letters ... until Indy received that dreadful letter. Five years later, they accidentially meet when Indy's son has an allergic reaction. All those old feelings come rushing back. Will they reconnect? Or will they finally sign those divorce papers?

I received an ARC courtesy of the author.

Thank you to the Author Agency for my ARC of Embers in our Souls, Book 4 in the Boston Embers Series by Stefanie Castro!

This was a bit of a different spin on the typical second chance romances I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Both MCs have a lot of strength, but it’s paired with the ability to be vulnerable when it counts and I thought that made for some beautiful moments in the story. I put a very short snippet of a quote from one of my favourite of these moments just below, and while you won’t get the full picture until reading the book, I hope it gives a bit of an idea how powerful some parts of the book are. There is also a hefty amount of humour and levity making it a fun read.

Embers in our Souls is available now on KU!!

Marriage of convenience, which is on the brink of divorce, not because there is a lack of love, but because life gets in the way. Tropes are usual, but the story has its own identity.

Indy and Tyler’s dynamic is instantly compelling. The story dives into their unique friendship, Indy, the rule-follower, and Tyler, the rebel, which grows under the radar into something deeper. Their decision to go for a marriage of convenience just to gain some control over their lives felt both risky and relatable, setting the stage for all the emotional twists that follow.

The book explores their bond over the years through their letters. There’s a sense of yearning and missed opportunity, but it never gets too heavy. When a betrayal throws everything off course, you really feel for both of them, even if you want to shake them! Their history makes the story feel real and raw, but totally unputdownable.

All in all, if you’re into second-chance romances, this one is a good addition.

The final book in the Boston Embers series, and what a great way to wrap up a series I’ve loved from the very beginning.

Tyler and Indy share a complicated history—one that has shaped who they are today and may be the very thing that either brings them together or tears them apart for good.
This story dives deep into emotional territory: PTSD from military service, the challenges of living with Crohn’s disease, adoption, and grief. Each element adds depth and heart, pulling the reader in and making you root for these two every step of the way.

I loved how both Tyler and Indy had so much to overcome before they could truly grow—individually and as a couple.

I’m a sucker for a happy ending, and Stefanie Castro delivered one filled with hope and heart.

Thank you so much to the author for the eARC!

The Boston Embers series couldn’t have ended on a more perfect book. This fourth and final book is a beautiful, second-chance, marriage-of-convenience romance that is just perfect.

We’ve met Tyler Hunter before, but now he is facing the woman he never truly stopped loving. Tyler and Indiana married at 18 out of necessity as he wanted to give her health insurance as she broke free from her parents. But what started as protection turned into something much deeper… and more painful.

Watching Indy grow throughout the next 11 years as she was finding her independence and her sense of self, was incredible. There was also heartbreak, which molded her into who she is today. Tyler’s journey from reckless teen to caring man made me root for their second chance even harder. And those letters, especially the ones Tyler never sent, absolutely destroyed me.

I’m so sad to see this series end, but what a beautiful last book. I’ll miss every single one of these characters.

Indiana (Indy) & Ty (& Noah). This book was a one-two punch with a marriage of convenience and second chance romance. Then there is the military deployments that kept them apart during their marriage of convenience and then to add insult to injury, it's 11 years later and they haven't seen each other in years. They're living separate lives and then they end up in the same city. These two were hurting my heart so much and I loved every minute. There is also a side story which is heartbreaking by itself that gets solved with a big twist. I wasn't expecting that! This series is just full of sweet MCs who are surrounded by supportive, funny, and strong friends. Stefanie Castro has fire house camaraderie down! This book had me hooked from the start - I finished it in one sitting!

I received this complimentary eARC and my review is voluntary. Thank you to Stefanie Castro and The Author Agency!

This is the fourth and final book in the Boston Embers series, and it absolutely nails the theme of second chances. In this one, we follow Tyler Hunter and Indiana Ranton, and once again, Stefanie Castro shows just how talented she is at pulling me into her stories. One chapter turned into 32 before I even realized it. I’m a sucker for a great love story, especially when there’s adversity and characters fighting to overcome the odds—it’s a formula that always gets me hooked.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Tyler’s character going into this book, since he was pretty reserved in the previous one, but wow, did he deliver. I’m all in for a possessive, caring man, and Tyler definitely checks those boxes. He had me at "Mine."
The last few chapters really threw me for a loop with a great plot twist. It surprised me in a big way I honestly didn’t see that one coming!
All in all, this is a fantastic story that gave me all the right feels. Definitely go read!

This book is soft strength and quiet devotion wrapped in a firefighter romance.

Embers in Our Souls leans into love that shows up steadily — not loudly, but consistently. The marriage of convenience feels rooted in care rather than desperation, and watching it shift into something real is deeply satisfying. There’s tenderness here, especially in how family is built, not assumed.

The emotional weight is handled with so much grace. Love doesn’t erase hardship, but it makes space for it — and that’s where this story really shines. It’s comforting, heartfelt, and grounded in the kind of connection that feels safe.

I finished this one feeling warm and reassured — like love doesn’t have to be dramatic to be powerful.

Why you will love this book:
🔥Marriage of Convenience
🔥Single Mother
🔥Chronic Illness Rep
🔥Firefighter Romance
🔥Found Family

Quietly emotional, gently swoony, and full of heart 🔥📖✨
