I have a feeling Raven is going to be my favorite character. Raven is the daughter of the Evil Queen and the Good King. In this teaser scene, Raven is dreading heading off to Ever After High for her Legacy Year. Her mother, who happens to be trapped in a mirror prison, is eager for her daughter to take her place as the next Evil Queen, but Raven isn't so sure she wants to be evil...

An introduction to one of the characters in the new Ever After High series. I think the Raven Queen will make the Ever After High series fun. This was my favorite out of the ebook novella series.

her mother really did love her, in a way. hope was like a sticky, too-sweet syrup she yearned to drink just one more time.like i said in my review of apple white's story, i absolutely love ever after high. i love the whole message that it's okay to be yourself, no matter what your lineage calls for.
the first thing i thought about this story was that it was a little deeper than apple white's, and the mood was entirely different. not only in the obvious way, since raven's legacy is all doom and gloom while apple's is all about woodland creatures and beauty, but in a somber, slightly upsetting sort of way. raven was born from the evil queen - like, the evil queen, so there's an astonishing amount of pressure on her to follow in those footsteps. she's a disappointment to her mother, and even her friends tend to press her to do evil things, but that's just not who she is.
she's her father's daughter. she's a kind girl: she wants to use her magic to help people, apologizes when she makes mistakes, believes in upholding the law. but the pressure to be something she's just not is almost suffocating for her. she's too afraid to stand up for herself, to say no and follow her heart instead of her mother's footsteps. it's a surprisingly realistic, adult thing to lace into a children's story, but it's done in a wonderful, subtle way that i think would be empowering for any child who read it whose parents were along the same line as raven's, and it might be a good reminder, a little dab of gratefulness for children whose parents are the polar opposite.
there are other aspects of raven's story and her character that i love: how quickly the future sneaked up on her. because it does, doesn't it? one minute you're playing and everything is fun and easy, and then you're expected to pick a direction and follow it to the end. it's a scary thing that happens way faster than you expect it to. i don't care how grown up i am, i love this story. no, no. more than that. i love this series.
"hmph. if you were half as evil as i raised you to be, you wouldn't hesitate. i must say, raven queen, i'm disappointed in you. nevermind. i'll watch with interest to see what you accomplish. you have inherited a bottomless capacity for true evil and breathtaking power. don't waste it." she leaned so close all raven could see in the mirror were her mother's deep purple eyes. "give 'em hex, raven."
raven swallowed. all she wanted was to run away.
their time ended and the mirror turned off. instead of her mother's face, raven saw her own again. it was remarkable, really, how much they looked alike.

“El cuento de Raven Queen” es un cuento que nos muestra como es la vida de alguien que tiene que hacer el mal, pero que no quiere hacerlo.

Nos pasamos al lado contrario de la historia de Blancanieves: al de la Reina Malvada. En este relato conoceremos a Raven Queen, la hija de esta última, quien sabe que debe hacer el mal y lleva toda su vida entrenando para ello. Sin embargo, ella no es feliz siguiendo los pasos de su madre ni haciendo daño a nadie, por lo que firmar el libro del destino será bastante complicado para ella.

He hecho pocas publicaciones de Disney, pero si las habéis visto yo creo que ha quedado claro que mi villana favorita es la Reina Malvada, por lo que conocer la historia de su hija me interesaba mucho. Solo con los relatos ya sé que me va a gustar más el personaje de Raven que el de Apple, por quienes son sus madres y por cómo se han comportado en los relatos. Pero ¿Quién sabe? Veremos si leer la saga principal me hará cambiar de opinión. El resumen es que este relato me ha gustado mucho y estoy expectante por saber que más va a pasar.

Now that the THE STORYBOOK OF LEGENDS, the first book in the EVER AFTER series, has been published, this eBook is a complete waste of reader's time. This story is actually chapter 1 of the aforementioned book meant as a teaser to sell books rather than a bonus story. This story is listed as the 0.2 in the series rather than 0.1 (Apple White) which is odd since it is the opposite order of the chapters in the book.

Creative series
I'm probably not the targeted age range to read this series, but still found this book so enjoyable! It really puts a nice twist on what I grew up reading about princess' and evil queens. It almost helps as a prerequisite to have read both sides of these kinds of tales. I definitely would recommend this series to my god-daughter and would love to read this book and others in this series with her! =)

Series Summary: Totally didn't like the idea and wonder why I chose these books again. Being a fan of fairytales I was looking forward to see what kind of twist but this is going to be one series that I am truly going to stay away from.
The children were snobby and the people no matter the age were mentally damaged. I mean who has ever suffered in life would hope their children would willing suffer the same fate just to be happily ever after? So wrong in so many accounts.
And the modern touch was interesting but the way the author made parodies and pans of it while also giving the story a "fairytale valley girl" touch just made want to cringe. This isn't the way fairytales are suppose to go.....
And don't even mention the shoe fetish that every character seems to go through *smh*.
Book Summary: This book seemed to carry itself just a bit better than "Apple White" for it actually gives you something else to think about when the child doesn't want to follow in her mother's footsteps. Sadly, though, the child isn't that far from the parent when you consider her wardrobe color scheme since she apparently doesn't have enough spine to pick her own colors.
Although she is given a bit more personality than Apple White this story really doesn't get her that far. She said that mirror-gazing was her mother's hobby and yet when you actually look at the end of the chapter she seems just as caught up in it while she reflects that she looks just like the one she is suppose to come.

I liked this one marginally better than Briar Beauty's Story, simply because I appreciated that Raven was rebelling against her fate and seemed like a half-way decent character.
The puns are absolutely appalling, the style of writing is too tween for my taste, and the dialogue is painful. I have no hexitement* concerning this series, nor will I ever.
*This is exactly the sort of thing I detest.

A few of my nieces are Monster High and Ever After High mad at the moment and so when I spotted that there was a range of free short e-book stories available I thought I would give them a quick read to see what some of the fuss is about and to be honest I absolutely love both series' dolls too and I am hoping they are still popular and about when my daughter gets to 5/6+.
This short story (Raven Queen's story who is the daughter of The Evil Queen) is very short and maybe takes around 7 minutes maximum to read but if you are an adult and your daughter or nieces etc are Ever After High mad then I would definitely recommend reading this short story. Although the short stories are obviously aimed at children who are fans of Ever After High the majority are quite simply funny and worth a quick read and especially as they are free but this one is a bit more heart rending for poor little Raven Queen. This short story tells of Raven Queen meeting with her mum the Evil Queen through a viewing mirror into the Mirror Prison where her mum is a prisoner for her wicked deeds and is a bit sad really but still a lovely little story.
Of course if you are an Ever After High fan then you will love this short story too but if you get your mum or dad to read this story with you then they will get some insight into Ever After High.

Good concept for a book series, with unlimited possibilities.
Short introduction to series of books that shows the creativity and humor while sparking renewed interest in fairy tales remixed for the enjoyment of both young readers and their training partners. There are enough levels of comprehension that even grandparents will enjoy assisting a young reader, while reading ahead to figure out what convoluted twists this update has on the stored memories of the classic tales. The joy of discovery for a new reader, or an experienced reader of any age, should make these stories fun for a family evening spent quietly at home, or even the young adult reader secretly absorbed by the unique twists of the story over the assigned school homework. This is fun reading that is refreshing in this world we live in that is full of bad news shows, internet sex and madness, and language that is less than 20% acceptable words. Our world is changing rapidly due to technology, why not the fairy tale world due to magic?

Wow!! I would suggest to anyone to read Raven Queen's ebook sampler first because it provides the reader with the most detail. Ever High is about to begin another school year and all 2nd year students including Raven must sign "The Storybook of Legends" which will begin their adventures to take over the hereditary titles of their fairy-tale parents. Purple-haired Raven might just have the hardest job of all. Her mother is the evil Queen and encourages Raven to upstage Apple, the daughter of Snow White. Will Raven succumb to parental pressure or will she be able to take her story in a different direction?

I liked this novella better than the first but that might be because I like the characters involved in it- the evil Queen, compared to Snow White who I'm not a huge fan of.
I found this book set up the Ever After High world and gave it more dimension- maybe it was the inclusion of other character like Pinnochio and his daughter, and the Blue Fairy.
The only thing that agitated me in the book is the whole "Taylor Quick" as the Ever After Highs version of "Taylor Swift" and "Applepod". It feels like it damages the originality of the books.

Again, shallow, but enough to provide a hook which is the purpose of these drabbles - or whatever they're being called! There are several bookish and fairy tale elements that seem to be common-place in this series. For example, "The mirror didn't require a rhyme to work. Rhyming was so last chapter." Also, Raven Queen is the Evil Queen's daughter and, apparently, the Good King is her father? Whatever works!

I preferred this book to the first one. I found the character of raven a lot nicer and a lot more relatable. The story or though simple, I found a little more intriguing than the first book of the series and can see the link between the two. It's a decent little read. And again I loved the humorous little details in the beginning like the fact she was listening to Tailor Quicks new album on her Mirrorpod.

I like the idea of Raven rebelling against becoming the next evil queen and wanting something different. She seems like a good egg and I may potentially read the first book just to see how she fares.
Her mum is crazy evil and you wonder was she any different before binding herself to the story? Or did she embrace her Legacy of cruelty and malice? Ugh.

Mystery
This book was like reading a mystery book I just wish there was more to it. To warn you there is only one chapter in the book. And Raven and The Evil Queen are two totally different people. It's surprising that there mother and daughter. Spoiler alert, at the end the Queen try to escape. Whoo, too much in one chapter.

I love fairy tales and first stumbled upon the Ever After High dolls at the store. I thought they looked cute then found out they were a series so I decided to check them out. Its a short story but its pretty cute - following the Evil Queen's daughter.

The best story in my life
This was the best story ever .My 2 year old daughter loves this book it helps her to get better at reading.

RAVEN IS AWESOME!
this hook is good. it is the first chapter of the first book. my fave part is when raven's mom says "Give 'em hex" it kinda reminds me of my mom. this is not the first book. I loved it. hope u enjoyed it
