I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
Lyra has a trouble past and seeks the help of psychiatrist dr Alex Coulter for help, sadly Alex has recently been widowed and since then he hasn't been fully focused on work, and when some are only there to get meds that the are addicted to, he simply forwards them to other doctors its then that Lyla turns up for her first appointment that Alex truly feels the need to focus his patient, adding the fact that he wants her. the moment where Lyra and Ales get together are incredibly 🥵🥵🥵 things that happen in Lylas's past are 🤯🤯when you see that one guy is following her you learn that he's not what he seems, amazing!

Whewww, this is the definition of a semi-dark, steamy, stalker romance! It is everything that makes up the perfect doctor/patient, stalker romance book!!
Dr. Alex Coulter is suffering with the grief of losing his wife when he finds out he has a new patient on his schedule. In comes Lyla Richard’s, with her own darkness tucked deep inside her. Alex feels the need to watch her and protect her, so he does what any man fictional man would do, duh! He starts to stalk her.
They slowly start to become closer. They start flirting more. But he can’t seem to get her to fully open up about her past and who must’ve hurt her. Once she finally does, it’s so much more than he could have ever expected… (I loved to parts where it flashed back to Lyla’s trauma and laid out what all she went through.)
In between meeting her as his patient and getting close to her, they get pretty intimate quite a few times. (Some super spicy scenes🌶️🤭) and let’s just say… some of those times, Lyla has had her meds before bed and she thinks she’s dreaming. 👀
Raquel’s writing style is so detailed, it leaves nothing to question. I have absolutely loved her books that I’ve read so far and can’t wait to see what she has coming next!!

July 16, 2026My first-ever DNF!!! This honestly feels so crazy, and I can't believe I'm actually doing it. I'm one of those people who never DNFs a book because, even if I'm not enjoying it, I always want to see how it ends.
But I finally decided to DNF this one at 24% because I genuinely couldn't find a single thing I liked about it. Everything was getting on my nerves, and I didn't care about any of the characters. I was forcing myself to keep reading, and that's not what reading should be. Reading is supposed to be fun, and this just wasn't.

I loved this story the whole vibe drew me in the mystery of Lyla and the DR was fun. Would recommend to anyone it’s not to dark or smutty so good for anyone interested in darker stories.

Dark Medicine completely pulled me in from the very first chapter. The story struck a perfect balance between tension, romance, and suspense, making it almost impossible to put down. The chemistry between the characters felt authentic, and their emotional journey kept me invested every step of the way.
The writing flowed effortlessly, with enough twists to keep me guessing without feeling overdone. Every chapter left me wanting “just one more,” and before I knew it, I had finished the entire book. The darker themes were handled well and added depth to the story rather than existing simply for shock value.
If you’re a fan of dark romance with compelling characters, emotional intensity, and a plot that keeps you hooked from beginning to end, I highly recommend giving this one a chance. It delivered exactly what I was hoping for and more. An easy 5-star read, and I’ll definitely be looking forward to reading more from this author.C

Our MMC Alex is a psychiatrist who is running from what he would call a past mistake. He is kind of just floating through life unfulfilled. But when an attractive patient Lyla walks into his office, his is intrigued by the pain in her eyes. His whole life turns upside down.
Wow. Just wow. I devoured this book! From the first page I was cracking up. Some of the dialogue is hilarious! Then watching the turmoil of Alex’s inner monologue about the choices he makes was pretty entertaining as well. THEN I realize all that was just false security. What I thought was becoming a kinda funny stalker book TOOK A TURN. A turn that I wasn’t expecting at all and I won’t spoil the details. I will say I was left speechless and anxiety ridden. Only in the best ways of course! There is also a HEALTHY amount spicy in this book. Overall I didn’t want to put this one down!

Lyla is rebuilding her life after divorce and seeking help for recurring nightmares when she meets Alex, a psychiatrist still haunted by the loss of his wife. What begins as professional sessions quickly spirals into something far more dangerous as Alex's fascination grows into an all-consuming obsession. While Alex secretly inserts himself into every corner of Lyla's life, Lyla is hiding a past of her own. One that proves she's not nearly as ordinary as she first appears. As their secrets unravel, the line increasingly becomes blurred.
I enjoyed this one more than I expected. Rather than relying purely on shock value, the story focuses heavily on Alex's obsessive inner monologue, and honestly, some of his thought process was unintentionally hilarious. His complete lack of self-awareness while convincing himself that stalking Lyla is somehow reasonable made him an entertaining narrator.
The romance develops fairly quickly once the therapist-patient relationship ends, and the timeline occasionally feels a little rushed. I would've loved a bit more build-up before they acted on their attraction. That said, their chemistry felt believable, especially as both characters carried significant emotional baggage that slowly came to light throughout the story.
One thing I really appreciated was the perspective. The book is almost entirely told through Alex's point of view, which gives readers a front-row seat to his escalating obsession. When Lyla's perspective finally appears later in the story, it completely reframes everything by revealing the traumatic past she's been running from. There were a couple of twists I genuinely didn't see coming, and they helped elevate the ending.

Dark Medicine tells the story of Lyla and Dr. Coultier as they navigate a taboo relationship between a patient and her psychiatrist and the trauma that brought our FMC to his doorstep. It is plentiful in it's spice level and a fair attempt at giving us an avoidant trauma victim wrestling with the aftermath of a horrendous past.
From the writing alone one can tell that this is an accomplished writer, it has the flow and rhythm of a book that is not a first rodeo but perhaps a first dip in a more controversial genre. Dark Romance is an atmosphere heavy genre that I don't think this author has written in before or perhaps not in this manner. I'm saying this mainly because of the way the Spice scenes were written. There seems to be an unwillingness of embracing the darkness and the controversy of the implication of some of the scenes.
They are not written badly, just rushed and as if they were written by an older gentleman living out his fantasy through their writing. Raquel Mudryk is a younger woman and what I think might've happened is that she wrote this from a very recognisable place--at least a very recognisable one for me--namely from the internalised misogyny that makes one--as a woman--feel liberated and truly powerful when one is doing exactly what society asks of you and having the eyes of the men on you. Power through the submission to the patriarchy which makes the scenes feel like they are the fantasy of an older gentleman.
I'm putting this front and centre because the spice scenes kept pulling me out of the story and reflect on who wrote the scenes.
The story itself could've used some more tension. The characters had constant immediate access to one another and this made it so that there was no build-up to the romance. The final chapters seemed very rushed and I wish we could've lingered slightly more on the events that lead to Lyla's trauma. Other chapters from her perspective might've helped here. Since apart from the trauma chapters everything is written from the point of view of the doctor.
All and all I wish to still give this book more than three stars purely because it delivered what it promised and as a dark romance book it is nice to see the main darkness not being heavily implemented within the main pairing, but outside of it.

Dark Medicine was a unique dark romance that immediately pulled me in with its intriguing premise.
A psychiatrist becoming captivated by one of his patients isn't exactly a relationship that should work, yet Raquel Mudryk crafted it in a way that had me completely invested. Where most people would be terrified to be stalked by their doctor, the FMC was just as fascinated by him as he was by her, creating a relationship that was both unsettling and oddly compelling.
One of my favorite parts of the book was watching their obsession with one another unfold. Their connection felt natural within the dark world the author created, making it easy to understand why they were drawn together.
The plot twists were another highlight. Just when I thought I knew where the story was heading, another twist would send it in a completely different direction, keeping me engaged until the very end.
If you enjoy dark romance with morally gray characters, obsessive relationships, and plenty of unexpected twists, Dark Medicine is definitely worth checking out. Just be sure to check the trigger warnings beforehand.
Overall, this was a solid 4-star read that kept me entertained from beginning to end.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book was okay, definitely dark, but there were too many inconsistencies that bothered me. Just to pint out a few, Alex is a widower not a widow, this was repeatedly mentioned and is incorrect. Alex lives in a condo, has a doorman and has to take an elevator to get to his condo, yet can see and hear his friend on the street asking him to let him in. Lyla lives in the fourth floor, has an attached firescape, a stalker ex and yet never locks her window. There’s also some other weird inconsistencies with Lyla’s backstory too, Lyla’s situation wouldn’t have permitted her to see her parents, but I can’t go into more without spoilers. It’s little things like this and things which are easy to research to get correct, that kept taking me out of the story. The story definitely has promise but with better editing could’ve easily been a four star read. It’s not a truly original story but has a good premise. More could have been explored with Alex’s background and Lyla’s as well. The writing was overall good.

Omfg that was so good! If you love suspense and spicy this is your book!
Not giving anything away….The author drags you into the world of Alex a psychiatrist and Lyla a woman broken and lost who has gone through an absolutely life destroying event. And is now trying to gain herself back.
The twists and turns in this book are done so beautifully it makes you not want to put it down. At some points I was literally yelling at these characters out loud on what they were doing. Cringing at other times, laughing at some. It all just sucks you into the world and their lives. Though some of the sense might seem wild it really is relatable for someone like me.
The author shifts from present to past in some part of the book and does this seamlessly! It really puts you into the mindset and allows the reader a real perspective of understanding.
The spice is SPICY!!!! 🥵 like beautifully so. Without giving anything away sneaking, offices, closets, dreams….buildings?! Yes please!
The high that this book leaves you on is palpable. I can’t wait to read more and see where this authors creativity takes her next!

If you are looking for your next unhinged, dynamic, and completely consuming read… stop scrolling right now because Raquel Mudryk absolutely delivered with Dark Medicine. 🔥 I am officially obsessed. 🖤
The level of dark obsession in this book is next level. The stalker vibes? Immaculate. The tension had me sweating, and just when I thought I knew where the story was going, Raquel threw in some of the most insane plot twists that I genuinely did not see coming. My notes are just a bunch of keyboard smashes and exclamation points, tbh‼️🫠
The only reason this isn’t a flat-out 5 stars for me is the ending. It felt like everything happened so fast, and I really wish it went into a little bit more depth just so I could soak it all in. I wasn't ready to let go yet! 😭
But seriously, if you love morally gray (or let's be real, pitch black) characters and a plot that keeps you guessing until the end, you need to add Dark Medicine to your TBR immediately.

It is something about the style of writing this author does that pulls me right in which made this a highly addictive read. That no nonsense straight to the point kind of grit/crass.. [which made me think of what I love about Karin Slaughter's ‐a thriller author‐ writing style]. But it is also uniquely perceptive with a level of authentic feel that immerses a reader in. I was right along with him (MMC) when he was questioning "what is she not saying" or "there has to be more" which had me at the edge of my seat wanting to know.
This is definitely a stalker trope dark romance novel, however it has a certain quality that is unique and unlike any other I have read thus far -so if there is a level of expectation because of that, it might not set exactly right with you. It is a very spicy and kinky read.
I did like the whole underlying notions involving 'can't be fixed' and accepting someone for that flaws and all. It touches upon enduring trauma and the effects of such that can twist and bend one's psyche and how the typical approaches wouldn't always actually work. I loved it.

It's a light dark romance with some stalking. I do wish we had more of Lyla's POV besides when she was being tortured when she was a teen. I dislike her best friend for pushing other men on her. Since we don't have her POV, we don't know what Lyla is telling Cassie or what Cassie thinks about Alex, especially after Lyla puts up a wall with Alex and runs away more than once. We don't know if Cassie fully knows her full history. With the information about Alex's dead wife, I wish we had her POV and how that talk went down. I do love that she figured out the stalking and liked it, compared to her ex-husband becoming controlling and keeping tabs on her. With the ex-husband, I don't like that he only jumps into a scene for a couple of sentences, then huffs and leaves. I do love that Alex is possessive and protective, but he doesn't overdo it. My review of this ARC is an honest and unbiased one.

There's an almost self depreciating humour from Alex as he gives in to his urges, there's a line that actually made me chuckle because he is vocalising internally how far the situation has gotten out of hand. "Having found myself in the most fucked up convoy, I follow Lyla's ex while he follows her".
Lyla is almost like an island with how little you know about her past, her character is written in a way where you make guesses and conclusions about her history.
Most of the book is written from Alex's perspective and when you finally reach Lylas POV it's so truly unexpected, it almost felt like I'd been blindsided. There are plot twists and spicy scenes galore, and everytime I thought I had it figured out the story the next plot twist kicked my legs put from under me.
This was the first book I have read by Raquel Mudryk but it definitely won't be the last.

First and foremost, if you are not a fan of reading about s*x, this is NOT the book for you. If you have any deep rooted trauma, this may or may not trigger something. Now if you love reading smut with a dark twist this is for you!
Dark Medicine definitely has an upfront introduction, gave me a bit of whiplash from a book I previously read but honestly it fit the entire book. The first half of the book is told from Main Character Alex's POV, and then switches to Lyla's current and past POV along with Alex's POV.
This is an absolute stalker romance, with a true love story development. There is a big twist towards the end that is totally unexpected but also throughout the story the hinting made it slightly expected and then the ending was a fairytale come true in some ways.

Dark Medicine is a dark stalker romance. I finished it in less than 48 hours because I could not put it down.
I have never read a book in a complete male pov and I will say, I loved it. It was such a change for me.
Alex is a psychiatrist with a dark past and some dark likes. Lyla is his new patient with a very dark past. He is instantly obsessed with her and she isn’t opposed to how they started.
The spice starts on page 1.. and only got better. The spice was perfection.🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I did not expect the twist and turns this book has and I was living for it! I screamed at my screen multiple times. The characters developed so well and I loved the banter, the inner monologues. The book had laughing, wanting to cry, screaming and kicking my feet.
Read your triggers, because only you can protect your mental health. This is on the darker side but not pitch black.
This book had so much happen that it was a WILD ride.
The characters went through hell but at the end it was worth it for that HAE. I highly recommend this book. Get ready for a ride. 🖤

Dark Medicine by Raquel Mudryk was such a good read. I honestly did not expect to get so hooked, but once I started I could not stop. It has the perfect mix of suspense, tension, and romance, and everything came together so well.
I really appreciated how the darker themes were handled. Nothing felt overdone or there just for shock value. The story stayed exciting the whole way through and kept me wanting just one more chapter every time I told myself I was going to sleep.
The characters were easy to get invested in and I loved watching everything unfold. If you enjoy darker romance with plenty of suspense and a story that keeps you glued to the pages, I definitely think this one is worth picking up.

This starts out as you'd expect any stalker romace to begin, the mmc meets the fmc who becomes his obsession and he does anything he needs to in order to have her. But it deviates when you get to know both Alex and Lyla more. I had the pleasure of being an ARC reader for this author. It's a dark romance involving stalking, voyeurism, dub-con, and more. I quite enjoyed how spicy it was and there was of a lead up to the ending. It's an MMC POV. I'd like to add a trigger warning as well, in case others don't do well with it (not me lol), dismemberment. It's a book about two people with troubled pasts and how they come together, yet, not without consequences or a threat involved. I found myself in suspense around 80% into the book. I wasn't disappointed. However, the reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 is because I felt like the suspense part of it could've been a bit longer to satisfy me. That's just my personal opinion. I would definitely recommend reading this book if you like dark romance ;)

First of all i’m going to get the negative parts of my review out of the way . On 2 seperate occasions the term “bribe” is mentioned when in that particular context, the correct term is “blackmail”. Also, the MMC is referred to as a widow when he is actually a widower. Those mistakes irked me.
I really enjoyed the story and was riveted from the first page. I had no idea how the story was going to go and it was nice to just sit back and see what happened. The main characters were flawed and morally grey and I liked that. The sex scenes are hot and the suspense aspect very thrilling. Dark medicine is a top read and one not to be missed.

Well, this was a semi-dark romance between a psychiatrist and his new patient. He is aware (repeatedly) that a relationship with Lyla could ruin his career, but he doesn’t have much choice, and keeps going.
This story is told almost exclusively from his point of view. Lyla has a POV in flashbacks to her trauma but those don’t start until chapter 18. Almost all details are well thought out and incorporated. It’s well written.
You can expect to see very detailed bedroom scenes, somno, violence, torture, murder, stalking, rude ex-husband, mental issues of a large sort. HEA guaranteed, stand alone romance.

I'm still relatively new to stalker romances, but this one completely won me over. I devoured it in 24 hours! The twists and turns kept me guessing, and every time I thought I knew where the story was headed, it surprised me.
I love a book that keeps me on my toes, and Dark Medicine did exactly that. Overall, this was a fantastic read! Raquel knocked it out of the park yet again, and I can't wait to see what she writes next.

I’m a little late to the party cause I had 2 longer ARC books before this but all I have to say is WOW. I loved this book from start to finish. I love how it was mostly written from the MMC. I find not a lot of books are written from that POV.
The only thing I wish for this book is that it would’ve went in to more depth of Alex’s history with his former wife up until her death. It would explain a lot of his character I feel like we were shorted a bit on this but overall was a great book and I enjoyed it as a whole.

This story was so much fun that i binged it in a day! It went from me wanting to find out how the main characters would react to each other and where things would lead. The trauma that Lyla went through was something so terrible and I am thankful she found someone to help heal with. Although, I wish I knew why she reacted the way she did to Alex. Like what made her okay with everything with him.
The story moved pretty quick. There was some points that I wish were explored more. But, I was overall happy with it and can't wait to read more by Raquel!!

Thank you to the author, Raquel Mudryk for an ARC of this. This is a doctor/patient, dark, stalker romance. Lydia is getting help after going through a divorce, and Dr. Alex is dealing with grief from losing his wife. Alex has Lydia for a patient, but as soon as he lays eyes on her and starts talking to her, he wants to know her on more of a personal level and not a doctor/patient level. The story kept me intrigued and I really enjoyed it. There were definitely some moments where the pacing felt a little off, but overall, it was a good stalker romance.
