Whew... I had no idea that this read would be as messy as it was! 🤯 That Donovan thought he was a king, instead of the damn mayor! 👀 Just doing all kinds of wild ish to get his way! 🤬 Poor Meg had no idea that her high school sweetheart would turn into an egotistical, narcissist! Just when she was getting the courage to exit, he comes Icy to stir things up.

Meg was just too kindhearted. Cause Icy popping up after all this time, making that suggestion for a switch, should have put up all types of red flags. Then the unthinkable happens and Meg is caught up in some ish, and she has no idea what the hell is going on. Icy was straight foul for what she did. She never wanted to take accountability for her actions until her fate was staring her in the face. 😡

Peace was anything but. This man was a force to be reckoned with! Hell bent on revenge he refused to listen to anyone, as he was driven by anger. However, slowly his heart began to open and allowed him to experience a love he had never imagined. I had hoped we would get to see Donovan's demise in some way shape or form, but oh well! Really enjoyed this. 👍🏿👍🏿

DNF the millisecond R. Kelly came on. Dancing to him in the Year of Our Lord 2025? Be serious. I closed the book so fast I almost gave myself whiplash.

But honestly? That just made it easier to quit, because the rest wasn’t giving either.

We’re tossed headfirst into a mess of POVs Peace, Donovan, Osiris, Omega like I’m supposed to care. Baby, I don’t even know these folks. Couldn’t pick them out of a lineup, and the book doesn’t try to make me want to.

The sisters’ dynamic is weak, the dad dies, and Osiris decides she needs to "find herself"...so she goes to Biloxi Girl, what? Like your big get away is a few hours from home??? BFFR

Then Donovan pops in early just to be annoying, and Peace has a tragic moment that lands flat because the emotional groundwork is nonexistent. It’s all vibes, no substance.

This book feels like it sprinted past the plot, dropped a bunch of random chapters, sprinkled in some trauma, and called it a day. R. Kelly was the red flag, but the lack of structure, soul, or sense sealed the deal.

Return to sender.

Book 21 of Shelf September
A Wild Ride Full of Betrayal, Chaos, and the Sweetest Redemption

Whew, let me tell you...this story was messy in all the right ways. It had me hollering, rolling my eyes, and nodding my head like, “yep, I know somebody just like that.” From page one, the drama never let up.

Meg was my girl through and through. She’s the kind of woman who gets dragged through fire but still comes out shining. She took heartbreak, betrayal, and family mess, and somehow kept her soul intact. Donovan? He was the definition of a cautionary tale. The disrespect, the arrogance, the games- he was poison in a tailored suit. And don’t get me started on Iris. That twin was a walking storm cloud, bringing thunder and lightning wherever she went. Watching her sabotage her own blood had me heated, but I couldn’t look away.

Now Peace? His name fits. He walked in with steady hands and a calm heart and gave Meg exactly what she’d been missing...safety, real love, and a future that didn’t feel cursed. Their connection wasn’t just steamy, it was healing. That man knew how to step up.

This book had everything: betrayal that cut deep, friendships that held strong, family wounds that bled heavy, and a romance that made all the scars worth it. Some characters got their karma a little too light for my taste, but hey life don’t always punish folks the way we want.

Keyy delivered a story that was raw, dramatic, and impossible to put down. It’s not pretty, it’s not neat, but it’s real. And sometimes that’s exactly what makes a book unforgettable.

As an urban drama, it was pretty good. Not a romance though

Ok, the truth is, this one started off all over the place and from the jump I was ready to give up on it. I didn’t like Omega ‘Meg’s character and how she was a doormat to her trifling tail husband Donovan. Like why give us a flashback of them when they were younger and Donovan seems like a nice guy, but then later he’s the worst scum of the earth?! Like what happened to him? And how was Meg such a terrible judge of character? And why did she stay with him for so long if she knew he was a cheater? She came across as a total dimwit! Peace is a concierge of sorts, so he’s been helping Donovan and others acquire things they can’t get for themselves. Then there’s Meg’s sister Isis/Icy who the author tries to get us to feel sorry for, and I did, but that didn’t justify her actions and what she did to Prophet. That was just dead wrong. Peace and Meg essentially end up together due to proximity and his wanting revenge for what Meg’s sister’s actions. Not much of a romance, more urban drama, but that’s that!

Peace and Omega

Donovan should have been put under the jail for all the mess he was into. He was so disrespectful and not in the sexy way. I really don't care for Icy and I understand forgiveness and second chances but she should have suffered a little more for her actions. Meg is a good person and sister. She took so much of Donovan's bull 💩 and then had to turn around and be tossed to the front of her sister's then forgiving the man that almost took her life because of the mess her twin did. I like Peace and I'm proud of him for giving Icy and second chance when she really didn't deserve it. I'm happy he was able to get himself together and return to Meg. I'm glad they got their happiness.😘😘

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 – A Must-Read!

This book was so good! Full of unexpected twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I honestly did not expect Omega and Peace to end up together — that totally caught me off guard! I was sure he was going to kill the twin sister instead.

Speaking of the twin... wow. I still can’t believe some of the things she did! Her actions had my jaw on the floor. The plot was intense, unpredictable, and had just the right mix of drama and shock factor.

This was an easy 10 out of 10 for me — a great read all around. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a story that keeps you guessing.

Love it!

Icy and Donavan were both deceitful and got what they deserved. Donavan's desire to have it all was a foolish error. Meg was better off without either of them, but I'm pleased to see Icy has improved. Chelsey was a great friend to Meg, and I'm really glad she stood by her through thick and thin. It was unfortunate that Prophet passed away, but since Taz set everything in motion, he got what he deserved for his scamming ways. I really love seeing Meg and Peace together.

Great standalone

This storyline was so crazy the drama was real Meg has been through hell and back her high school sweetheart Donovan was the devil. Her twin sister Iris had her childhood trauma which turned her into a demon. Iris lived a life of crime which ended up catching up to her and putting Meg in the crossfire. Meg meets peace and she really starts living he was definitely the peace she needed. Forgiveness is everything this book shows you all types of emotions and feelings definitely a 5 star must read. Job well done Keyy D.

Everything You Think Is Real Isn't!

Keyy D, you really gave us some good mess. I enjoyed the read. It held some trauma that many of us has gone through. It also has shown true sibling love and how God allows things to happen that may not be good but it will always work out for his glory.
The fact that some folk think they can get away continually with treating people however with no consequences at all. They will fall and very hard at that. I think this was a good read.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Icy had me side eyeing her. Meg had a heart of gold and the two people she loved the most did her wrong. After her dad died in that house fire, Donavan promised Meg the world to turn around and cheat on her every chance he got, plus he got his side chick pregnant. After taking on the role of Meg, Icy was wrong to keep sleeping with Donavan. After the hell Donavan put Meg through Peace became her PEACE.

Satisfied Reader

Who would’ve thought that being kidnapped was the best for the kidnapper and kidnappee. I’m so happy Meg was kidnapped cuz Donovan didn’t deserve her at all. He was trash and try to throw his power around to get what he wanted. Icy has the right name cuz she was cold hearted towards her sister. But forgiveness is more for you than the other person. I love Granny P. She reminds me of my mom

I was not ready….

The plot twists in this book were crazy! Just when I thought I figured it out, BOOM it ain’t what I thought it was lol I was all in and ate this book up in a matter of hours. The family dynamics were realistic and the underlying themes are real. It’s a relatable read. At times I wanted to yell at Meg to STAND UP. But my girl did eventually. & Icy can go straight to 🔥 Meg forgives I don’t lol

Great read. I just wanted Prophet to be able to get himself together prosper and find love too. Peace was bae. Loved how he stood on business. Juz wanted more details on family. Donovan was a lame Ahole. I wish Meg would have stood up for herself more with him, he really treated like trash. Thankfully he got was coming to him. Icy was just a horrible sister.
Loved granny p All in all highly enjoyed it wish the ending had more.

Loved it

I enjoyed this book let me start off by saying I couldn’t stand Donovan narcissistic a$$. Icy was selfish and only cared about herself. Omega loved her sister and saved her when she didn’t really have to. Peace I loved him for Omega even though they got off on the wrong foot because of her sister.

Yesss 🔥

Now see that why I don’t vote lmao Donavon was as crooked as they came and hit it so well from his wife in the beginning, that even I believed he was treating Mega right. Icy was just out there because of her childhood drama but to come home and switch places with your twin for the trouble that you’re in is diabolical lol at least she met Peace! Yesss

double down

Double down was definitely a great title! I can’t believe the mayor had so much dirt going on and he thought kill for hire was the answer to every problem! I hate all Omega went through being the mayors wife but in the end she got her happiness! Are we gonna hear more from Icy in another series ????

Donovan took abuse of power to another level. I wanted him to suffer, but I’ll take what was done to him.
Icy made excuses for her behavior when all she had to do was say something. She better thank Meg because she saved her.
Meg got her happiness in a weird way, but she got it. She no longer has to deal with Donovan the demon.

This started off as a cool lil read but the plot twists and ending were terrible. Sadly, Donovan was my favorite character. I didn’t care for P., the entire book he was on a mission to avenge his brother’s death only to let her go free? Come on. Same for Meg. Her twin literally left her for death but she forgave her. No thank you.

And Dex and Roxy being related was unnecessary

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I liked the storyline. Icy was a mess but I’m happy that she was able to get a second chance. Donovan was a straight up a hole and I wished something would’ve really happened to him other than not being re-elected. So sad Prophet had to lose his life that but glad happy Meg and Peace were able to cross paths. Minimal errors but still a good read.

ok

This was an okay for me. Not bad at all, just very slow in the beginning but I get it, that was the set up. Once it got going the pace sped up. I’m glad everyone got the ending they deserved. If you prefer action-packed, fast paced books, this one would not be the best choice for that, but a slow burn, feel good, HPE then this is it!

First let me say I loved the names! Now Donovan was a real piece of work! He thought he could control everyone and everything. Icy was just a confused lost little girl in an adult body. I’m glad she got it together. Me and Peace deserved each other.

Didn’t like Donovan at all. Ice wasn’t the best sister. Regardless of what she went through she should have taken the time to be a better sister and get professional help. I’m glad Meg found happiness in the end

Yes mammmm

So this wasn’t the usual urban novel story line. I loved it from the characters to the story line, the only thing I’m disappointed in that it wasn’t a part 2 but you have to know when to end a good thing
