Witch, Please, He's My Cat

A Romantic Comedy of Magical Errors, Cat Boys, and Questionable Life Choices

Mira Moonstone is a sunshine-disaster of a witch whose magic is emotionally reactive, mildly illegal, and mostly glitter-based. She runs a struggling potion shop in Elderveil’s most bureaucratic magical district, where spell permits are harder to get than a dragon’s phone number and her love life is more cursed than her cauldron.

Her familiar, Puck? He’s a sarcastic, judgmental, tuna-obsessed black cat with god-level disdain for literally everything she does—especially her hygiene, her fashion sense, and her inability to cast a spell without setting something on fire.

Unfortunately for them both, one impulsive forbidden spell later and Puck is now… a grumpy, infuriatingly hot man with a personality that screams "I knock over vases for sport" and abs that should come with a warning label.

Now Mira’s on the run from the magical authorities, hiding in a haunted cabin with her former cat-turned-broody god who won't stop walking around shirtless, judging her spellwork, and licking his damn wrist like that’s normal human behavior. There’s also the inconvenient fact that she maybe, possibly gave him a magically perfect body… and now he wants to test it. Thoroughly.

It’s magical chaos. It’s forbidden attraction. It’s a will-they-won’t-they between a witch and her hot mess of a familiar.

Welcome to Elderveil, where love is hexed, cats become men, and emotional stability is absolutely not included.

Okay, what did I just read—and why did I actually enjoy it?? I picked this up on a total whim with zero expectations, and it completely surprised me. The premise sounded pretty ridiculous at first, but it turned out to have way more substance (and plot) than I thought it would. Fun, snarky, and totally unexpected. Puck and Mira’s dynamic was a blast—so much sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek banter that was both shocking (in its audacity) and amusing. Writing was wonderful but could use another proof read due to some spelling errors. All in all a 4.25 ⭐️

I have a lot to say about this book but will keep it short because I will drop spoilers otherwise.

The problems I had with this book are part of the plot.

Firstly can we all take a shot (alcohol people, it's not bad enough to need a weapon) for how many times the word "regret" was used. Hopefully like me, by 50% you won't care how this ends.

There are some serious plot holes. How strong is Mira and her casting strength business?? We start off with a her being sub-par then suddenly she's powerful. Puck is not mentioned as being responsible for this power boost... Yet isn't that what familiars do???

Why didn't Mira then use her powers to fix the car, the house... I have questions.

Honestly if it wasn't for Puck this would have been a DNF Mira was simply not interesting.

loved it !! a great start for a new series !! love, love, love Puck and Mira... this is their hot mess of a story... a fun fast paced rom/com drama... she's a hot mess of a witch that can't cast a spell without it catching fire... he's her snarky familiar that gets caught up in a back firing spell that went wrong/ or right ? depends on how you look at it and now, they are on the run and hiding in a haunted house... this is so good !!! can't wait for the next story !!! hurry please !!!.

I really liked this book. Wonderfully written book about magic, witches and their familiars. I loved Puck's character he's hilarious. The book is full of humor and spicy scenes. If you enjoy witch books you'll love it, If you like romantic comedy you'll like it too. Mira's mistake is her greatest treasure. So many secrets are revealed in this story. I just cant say them here. Pick this book up you'll love it.

What happens when a witch takes a petty revenge spell on her ex and accidentally turns her cat into a really hot guy, who very much knows he's hot? It's the ultimate chaotic situation with unauthorized magic with two people - rather one person, one former cat - that are both a hot mess that is literally one of the best ongoing banter relationships that I've read in a long time! Absolutely a must read!.

The more I read from L. Ford, the more I fall in love and this book has me head over heels. Witches, Magic, & Familiars - Oh My! The banter between Mira and Puck (her familiar) is funny, snarky, and sexy as hell. The characters are well written and lovable. I can't wait for the next book.

This story was lighthearted and funny with some steamy parts. It ends in a cliffhanger and I'm excited for the next book.
