Julian Bradley catches flights, never feelings. Working as an in-charge flight attendant makes that part remarkably easy since he can put thousands of miles between himself and anyone else, at the drop of a hat. Until he meets someone he simply can’t shake, however much he wants to.
Kieron Andrieu has a high-flying senior finance job with weekly business trips around the world, a great boss and a comfortable home. His life couldn’t be much more perfect. Until he messes everything up. Because once you catch feelings? Life will never be the same again.
London's Square Mile is commonly known as "The City" and encompasses the historical core of the city while serving as a thriving centre for finance, governance and professional services. It is also home to Delaware Financial, the one stop shop for all your corporate needs.
Here you will meet the men in finance, stone faced rogues with nothing to lose and find out that putting your heart on the line? Can be the most rewarding investment of all.
Square Mile Rogues are a series of standalone M/M romances with HEA's.
Again, this book was completely insane yet also realistic?
Julian and Kieron weirdly fit together so well. This was basically instalove which I'm not always a fan of, but this was a fun read. I also liked the flight attendant storyline. You can't pay me to get on a flying tin can, but it was interesting to see what goes on and all the drama between the crew.
I loved Kieron's dislike of Bastien from book one though, but honestly they'd be great friends if they actually tried.
I didn't like how it took half the book to explain Kieron and Gina's friendship though. They kept dancing around it and telling anecdotes, whereas for me personally I'm more of a sledgehammer with my bluntness so it would have been one sentence and done 😂 I didn't understand why it took a whole mini story to just say they were best friends....
I'm secretly hoping for a book with Sonny though. I can't remember him having a book from the previous ones that I've read, but I could be forgetting. I just think his character is funny and ridiculous and I need to know more.
The previous book in this series by Sophia was pretty gut wrenching because the characters suffered and struggled so much I was in tears for them.
‘Just Like You’ Book 2 has a completely different vibe and had me laughing and smiling most of the time.
MC1 Julian, is an Head Air Steward, loves his job and the perks that go with it, except when he has to deal with passengers like MC2 Kieron. A high flyer who has to travel a lot by air for his equally high flyer job with Delaware Financials. This company featured in Book 1 and many of the characters get mentioned or figure strongly here also.
Despite his misgivings, Julian succumbs to Kieron’s ‘charm’ and then his begging and now he looks forward to every opportunity they have to keep the sparks flying between them. 🧨❤️🔥.
It’s all about their relationship and how they navigate through the ups and downs of Julian’s job. I adored how Kieron focused so intensely on Julian’s physical needs and the reciprocal nature of Julian’s response to Kieron’s need to be loved. Obviously all does not run smooth, but the fabulous way that Kieron sorted that out was wonderful. No real angst, just lots of loving care between these two.
I like the diversity of Sophia Soames books, especially those set in her Scandinavian roots.
Book 3 in this Square Mile Rogues series features a colleague of Kieron’s who gets a mention here. Wish I didn’t have to wait till 2026 to get my hands on it.
5+++ stars. What a breathtaking story, I was floored by the uniqueness. Everything was good, I can’t find one thing I didn’t love. Julian and Kieron are so incredibly lovable, my heart was so sooo happy!
It was super duper romantic and equally sexy!
Hundreds of wonderful WONDERFUL moments to enjoy, things to know. Not one superficial moment! It was absolutely breathtaking!
Sophia Soames has done it again. another amazing M/M love story with tropes of opposites attract and vastly different socioeconomic status; one is a flight steward who flies around the world and the other work in finance and have expensive Rolex watches. Yeah, as you hear they are nothing a like but they fit! Their love story has an HEA and it is such a fun ride to get on and follow, it has a few bumps in the road but nothing major. And Sonny... can we just take a moment to appreciate the sidecharacter that is Sonny? I need a Sonny in my life! I freaking adore him! Can't wait to read the next one in this new series. Highly recommend for everyone who want a funny, easy and fast-paced M/M romance, even though the story is fast paced it is still an intriguing story with great character development and depth.
I know I say this after every book I have read from this author but she done it again… another masterpiece, another amazing M/M romance. It’s unique, funny, incredible sweet and addictive as well as spicy. It has a few bumps during their ride but nothing to big, the way she makes her character alive for us is so amazing, as well as the character deeph and development just make it so much better.
I love her stories about opposite attract, two people you couldn’t possible think could work because they are litterly from diffrent worlds , work so beautifully together. One is a flight attendant traveling around the world and we get to see a climpse into his work and life, and the opposite works in finance and wears fancy suits and expensive watches .
Her writing style are real and unique, and I think this is my favorite book so far.
Around the world with Julian and Kieron, the perfect match of loners who enjoy lots of sex and no commitment. Gossip, great supporting characters, and dialog to die for, Soames’ specialty. Soames makes me laugh out loud with her cutting humor while serving up lots of love for humanity.
I always think this is my favorite Sophia book, but this time I mean it. When I was heartbroken and crying for Julian, I knew that this one, this book right here was going to become my new favorite (sorry Joey).
I’ll admit at first that I didn’t like Kieron. He came across as mean and cold but once I really got into the book, I realized that wasn’t the case. Kieron was lonely. He needed someone to love him and that person was Julian.
Julian. My sweet, perfect Julian. The job he has isn’t an easy one. I can’t imagine what it must be like flying from place to place. Living your life in a suitcase the way he does. Sophia gave us a real feel for that. It's not always glamourous. And when he meets Kieron, well, sparks didn’t exactly fly the first time.
But when Kieron and Julian finally have their moment? It’s magical. I love a insta-love and these two have that moment. It was beautiful, broken, and I can’t recommend this book enough. All the stars!
Kieron and Julian are taking us around the world. In the span of a month they became each other's everything, and that was quite the journey. I really liked how "normal" their interactions felt, how they were almost always able to communicate (except for a super small time), and I love, love, love the safe talk in chapter 11. All the gossip, oh gosh that's sooo my jam, lol. That glimpse in Bash & Jake's lives made me so happy. And I think Juliet deserves a special mention. It was so good seeing her again. Sophia, please give us Sonny's story soon.
This is right up there as one of my favourite books from Sophia Soames, I found I didn’t want to put it down once I’d started.
Sophia bought her real life experiences to this story, adding a unique perspective. She shows the life of an inflight crew member isn’t as glamorous or easy as it may outwardly appear. It added so much depth to Julian’s character and I found it really interesting, especially the gossip and stories. I also adore his bestie Sonny, together they kick the book off with a bang that had me laughing. I hope he gets his own book one day!
I loved Kieron’s intensity and his determination to find ways so that Jules couldn’t ghost him. Even though he is still an arse at times he’s got a lot of layers and you can’t help but like him. It was great that Juliet and Faye (from book one) also appear in this story.
This could definitely be read as a standalone, however some of the conversations Kieron has with Juliet may make more sense after having the context from book one, Forever Not Yours.
The story centres on Jules, a seasoned and somewhat jaded flight attendant, and Kieron, a grumpy finance executive whose life is lived in a whirlwind of airports and hotels. It seems that he only has to open his mouth to offend. However, Jules will have none of it, and their initial encounter, a brief but electric exchange, sets the stage for a romance that is as sweet as it is unconventional.
Their relationship unfolds in airports, late night flights, and the brief, stolen moments between takeoff and landing. Sophia beautifully captures the blend of intimacy and anonymity that exists in this world, where people are flung together for hours and then just as quickly separated. While the plot may seem straightforward, boy meets boy, they fall in love etc etc, its real strength is the story's character development and its unique setting. It's all about the idea that love can be found in the most unexpected of places, even at 35,000 feet. The love story was a delight to read. No real breakups, no real angst between the guys. It's all very down to earth and real. It was also a plus catching up with Bash and Jake from the first book in the series.
I so loved the glimpse into the unspoken rules of the cabin crew, the art of dealing with difficult passengers, and the quiet camaraderie that exists among colleagues, who spend more time with each other than with their own families. It made me want to be a flight attendant. All from Sophia 's own jetsetting experience, it was a joy to read, and I giggled at some of their conversations. It certainly made me view cabin crew in a different light!
For those of you looking for a love story that is just a little different, I'd highly recommend reading this. It made me smile so much.
Is it wrong to read this book back-to-back a few times, because it gives you so much-needed break from the cruel reality of today’s world? I am not trying to say that it’s not real people and real feelings, like in some cheap boulevard romance, in this book. No, it’s actually the opposite; it is thoughtful and filled with depth. Both men are very complicated characters, but aren’t we all? They trust in their hearts, but are still scared to give this trust to each other. This book is what I needed, it’s like a breath of petrichor after a massive storm, and it is soft as a morning light in the Maldives, it is cute and plushy as a teddy bear or your favorite most comfortable shirt. It’s like those tender hugs that Julian and Kieron share, the feathery forehead kisses, which make you feel all warm and cozy, cuddles that provide ultimate serenity to your soul and make your mind peaceful. Why can we relate to Kieron and Julian so easily? Their lives are twisted and convoluted, they are tired and wrung out most of the time, they fear real intimacy, well, at least Julian does at some point, poor Kieron just fell fast and hard. So, in answer to my question, we all carry some of those things in our own lives, and we are all a bit twisted and set in our own ways. Those two men made me feel extremely close to them in so many aspects, I just loved when they became fumbling idiots, who felt so deep and tried to hide it even deeper... At some point after reading tons of books, I kind of became a bit numb to the sex scenes. But this book, those scenes are so fresh, there’s fun and deep feelings intertwined with physical satisfaction. Kieron and Julian have their relationship in “no rules, because it’s just us, zone,” and it just works on every level. Their love is unbiased; they accept each other’s flaws and make them into quirks. They cannot be more intimate than they already are. They make decisions on the go, just like Kieron’s Mom did when he was a kid. And he realised that all his life he was missing it, missing out on being loved and cared for. He has an unending reservoir of feelings, and Julian is the right man to give them to. Kieron wants to spoil him; to give him spontaneous little presents, and sometimes he gives inappropriately expensive ones. And gets chastised for it, but secretly, Julian adores it. He needs Julian to know how much he is cherished and tries to keep tossing those little reminders in his travel bag. How stinky cute is that? I was just melting whenever this was mentioned in the story. Their relationship started from a strong dislike (because let us be honest- Kieron could be a grump on the outside) and flourished into a full-blown romance. Such a full-speed transformation that they lost the ability to be rational and just dove into it with full force. Their love, racy and spicy sex times are spontaneous and blissful; sometimes they just do not care if they get covered with disgusting things, the byproduct of their lovemaking. They laugh about it, but there is no shame, no uncomfortable situations when there are two people deeply in love expressing their desire. This is how Sophia wrote it: “Because he was just him and I was me and if he wasn’t with me, life didn’t feel right anymore.” Those wonderful weirdos completely overhauled each other’s lives, and knowing all the uncertainties that life can present, they just believe that they will be alright. I love that the story gives Juliet a little cameo- the woman is really a one bad ass boss and a friend, also Gina- gorgeous, famous, a little unhinged, with the heart of gold, Maura- no nonsense, don’t’ toy with me just get it done, and of course, Sony- the little gossip, who will listen and give the best advice and will fight for you with all his twinkish might. They are all such an interesting band of misfits, a real treat. I would seriously love the book about Sony’s adventures with the “one” nameless so far man that announced to the world that Sonny is his, period, no arguments accepted, duh! There are so many things I could say about Sophia’s writing. Her style of expressing thoughts of main characters, the snark, the banter, and funny situations they find themselves in described so flawlessly that you can picture it very clearly and feel like a participant. If you want a whirlwind romance that will wrap you up in reading the book in one sitting and then wanting to go back and do it again, you need to get that book now! Trust me, the joy of reading it is guaranteed!
`Julian and Kieron first meet when they are both having a very difficult day. Jules is an experienced flight attendant and Kieron a high-flying businessman who is a Diamond club card holder but has been accidentally downgraded at check in. With a full flight there is nothing Julian can do about it - as you can imagine their first impressions of each other are not good! Their exchanges are funny and quick witted and it seems that the scene is set and they hate each other - until they meet on the same floor in the hotel at their destination and a one night hook up leads to the rest of the story. What develops requires extreme persistence from Kieron including the inventive use of a watch and much resistance from Jules. Funny lines and situations continue throughout the book and we start to understand how life has shaped both men and their love story is a joy to read. In some ways Julian and Kieron initially appear less complicated than characters in other Sophia Soames books. As usual though her writing draws you in deeply to both characters and you realise there is plenty of depth as they both find what they need in each other. The side characters are brilliant in this book too. Sonny is Jules friend and is hilarious with his own exploits. Gina, now famous but also a childhood friend of Kieron's from when they were in foster care is a force of nature. It was so good to catch up with Juliet from Forever not Yours and get to know her more. I would love Juliet to find what she needs too. Sophia draws on her own experiences and gives us a fascinating look behind the scenes of the working life of flight attendants in this story. There were moments when I felt like I was on the aircraft watching it all unfold. I could feel the atmosphere and felt like I was eavesdropping on all the crew! I was received an ARC and would definitely recommend this book. Although you can read it as a standalone book, I think meeting characters like Juliet in Forever Not Yours made the scenes with Keiron and Juliet more enjoyable.
Sophia Soames has once again written a beautiful love story, with flawed and multi layered characters, Julian a jaded and overworked inflight attendant and Kieran, a rude, snarky finance manager with a penchant for collecting obscenely expensive watches.
My god the change in Kieran after he met Julian, he became a lovely cuddly pussy and I loved his intensity when it came to Julian. They were a perfect couple who just clicked from their first antagonistic meeting, total opposites, both relationship phobes who didn’t want anyone else in their lives, enjoying their own company and both scared witless at the feelings they were developing for each other.
This is now one of my favourite books from Sophia and the more I read I found I didn’t want it to end.
I loved that Sophia bought her real life experiences to this story, adding a unique perspective of the life of inflight cabin crew. I have never thought that it was a glamorous or easy career and certainly not one I could do, in fact if I had to look after Kieran on that first flight, he would definitely have had his meal in his lap at the least and probably a fist to his rude arrogant face.
I must take a moment to appreciate the side characters that are Sonny and Gina, they are brilliant characters and a force of nature, as is Juliet, Kieran’s boss who regularly threatens to spank him if he doesn’t behave!
As with all Sophia’s books, no matter how deep the topic, she injects many humorous moments and I can’t wait to read the next one in this new series and highly recommend for everyone who want a funny, easy to read and fast-paced MM romance, an entertaining story with great characters and depth.
This book can be read as a standalone but why would you want to, book one Forever Not Yours is also brilliant and we get to catch up with Bash and Jake and Juliet in this book.
I’m in my Summer of Sophia Soames era. She just finished her amazing London Love series, then immediately launched Square Mile Rogues. Just Like You is book two and feels lighter than the unabashed kinkiness of book one (which I really enjoyed!) There’s a uncomfortable first meet, with disgruntled finance bro Kieran insulting sunny flight attendant Julian. I was thinking this would follow the grumpy-sunshine route, but Sophia is always so clever with the way she leads her MCs on a unexpectedly merry path to their HEA. Kieran is a bad-tempered terror. But he remind me of a marshmallow you roast over an open fire. Charred and scary on the outside, but peel away the brittle facade and there’s a sweet, gooey romantic who just wants to find his person. Julian is a hoot, and I loved that he was the one who balks at a relationship. He’s no pushover, and I admired his charming tenacity. I also got a kick out of seeing a smitten Kieron follow him around the globe leaving expensive watches like breadcrumbs as a way to keep Julian close. Julian’s POV about life as a flight attendant and vicariously visiting the Maldives, Brazil, and Vegas was so much fun. There’s a minor blip, and angry Julian is entertaining, but honest conversation saves the day. Turns out Kieron and Julian are more alike than you’d think, and they are perfect together. A+ for communication and taking ownership of your bad behavior and making things right. Plus Bash, Jake, and Juliet are back. And we’re introduced to one of my favorite secondary Sophia characters ever, Gina DeSanto. I don’t read a lot of MF romance, but I would totally one-click on Gina getting her HEA. This is a breezy, sun-splashed summer romance that will leave you smiling. Don’t miss this one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4.5 stars Another swoony story from Sophia Soames. Goodness, I adored Kieron and Julian! They're both a mess, they're too busy with their demanding jobs, they've never had a serious relationship and yet, they're kind of perfect for each other.
I honestly didn't expect for Kieron to be capable of such sweet tender gestures: he's completely besotted with Julian and, for the first time in his life, he believes to have found his person. Julian is a bit more scared and he fiercely guards his heart against heartbreak. But, luckily for him, Kieron doesn't give up.
I loved how their relationship worked: it was unusual, they made no plans, they didn't make any changing in their everyday lives, they just doted on each other and went to sleep every night entangled to each other. It didn't matter in which bed, if their own or if a bed in a hotel room, the only important thing was that they were together.
The physical scenes are wonderfully intimate, Kieron and Julian are strongly connected on that level too.
What prevented me from giving five full stars: all the female characters in this book, Juliet, Maura and, especially, Gina are fantastic. It's definitely me but I'm a bit tired of queer men who don't seem to function without a strong female friend keeping them sane.
The epilogue was so so beautiful! And the author also gave us an update of Bastien and Jake's lives. I hope this will happen in the next book too.
Very recommended.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review.
This book is unputdownable; once you start reading you just can’t stop! I always absolutely adore Sophia’s writing style and this book is no different. Several words come to mind when I think about this book – madcap, romantic, instalove, fun and snark. This book also brings to mind the song by the Swedish band BWO, Sunshine in the Rain (When I’m in Berlin, you’re off to London etc.) and I love it when a song instantly brings your mind back to a special story. I can’t hear Friday I’m In Love by the Cure without it bringing me instantly back to a particular book. I also love that cheeky little face on the cover.
This book really hit the spot for me, I used to live near both LHR and LGW and had dreams of being a Caledonian Girl in my youth and several members of my family did indeed work at LGW (alas, self-confidence issues put paid to that career choice for me) AND I used to work as a secretary to a firm in The City.
Julian and Kieron’s story is such a joy to read, just an honest to goodness romance with great insights into the real-life shenanigans of flight crew. I also liked that we had a real connection with book one in the form of Juliet. There are some notable side characters, especially Sonny and there are some laugh out loud moments when reading his and Julian’s conversations and text messages. I thoroughly recommend this story and am eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the Square Mile Rogues, Off Limits, even if I do have to wait until 2026.
Second in series (Square Mile Rogues), can be read as a standalone but might be more fun if read in order. Age gap. Adversarial to lovers. Hurt/comfort. Mature characters. Dual POV.
Kieron is a frequent flier finance executive that gets put in his place by the in-charge flight attendant on his latest trip, but their interactions seem to spark something between them. Neither man believes in relationships or anything long term, but why does being together make sense?
What an unexpected romance, where attraction and deep feelings of happiness and joy hit two men over the head and they fall hard and fast. This story just proves that love is inexplicable sometimes, when it happens and it's meaningful it can be irresistible. Yes, Kieron can be a big jerk, but he tries so hard with Julian and the people that can see past Kieron’s brashness seem to be those that become lifelong friends. And Julian is so wonderful, allowing himself to be swept along into Kieron’s impulsive wooing. I really liked both of these characters. Soames is able to write relatable, realistic characters that pull your heartstrings and make the reader realize that love is sometimes messy and worth the risk.
Wonderful low-angst, light-hearted opposites-attract romance. There’s sparks, sweetness, laughter and amazing romantic moments. Loved it! Kieron seems a bit of a jerk at first glance, and I really enjoyed learning more about him, his past and what lies beneath the surface. I always like a character who can surprise you, make you reevaluate assumptions. Julian is very easy to relate to and admire. His weariness on the job, but the way he still soldiers on, really struck a chord with me. He has long stopped hoping for love and romance, and I loved seeing him find his person. Really cheered me up. I love Sophia Soames’s writing and how it draws you into the world and minds of her MCs. There’s always something very authentic about her characters. Kieron and Julian are lovable, warts and all. I love that they are messy, and flawed, and so real with each other. The secondary characters were very well written and fascinating in their own right, and it was great to get glimpses of characters from the previous book in the series, especially Juliet. She is awesome!
This book was so sweet, I devoured it, and it left me with a sappy smile! I adored Kieron and Julian. Kieron presents as this menacing, fearless, grumpy man at work, but underneath it he is kind of a lost boy, and it just takes a man who isn’t afraid of him, wants nothing from him, and, above all, really sees him, to make him fall hard and fast. Julian has had so many bad experiences in the past that he wants nothing more than a night with Kieron (and, initially, even that is stretching it!), but he finds himself befuddled by the other man’s ways. This is not your typical Sophia Soames book. While her books are usually more reflective, poetic, and tending to angst, with characters who are often a bit broken, this one is bright and sunshine-y. Though not her usual style, having met the author a couple of times, I felt this book was so much her!
I'm a huge Sophia Soames fan - her new releases always rush to the top of my TBR - and this is another good story, if not my favorite of hers. I probably liked it less because there are so many wonderful Soames books to compare it with. My biggest issue is that Kieron, the MC who is a total a** to the whole world (because of reasons), is somehow magically a totally different person with Jules. I get it that he feels safe and seen, but he is actually super sweet all the time, and I just can't see someone who's that big of a jerk to the rest of the world being so open and sweet and never slipping up and saying or doing something in line with his jerk persona. Other than that, this is low angst, satisfying romance at it's best.
Kieron comes across as a cold and careless jerk but in reality it's just a facade to to hide his true, vulnerable self. Julian is really very sweet but just so weary of his life and leery of letting anyone in as well. Neither one really has a grasp on how a relationship works but they decide to take a chance on each other and love. The mechanics of their relationship is difficult due to their jobs so they really have to make do with last minute meet ups and stolen moments together but they're determined to make it work and they do.
Another Sophia Soames branded hit! I loved how these two seemingly complete opposites crashed into each other and how they made it work. There's a great skill in writing believable opposites attract stories and this one hits the spot just right! The writing style makes the characters feel like flesh and blood people, which I absolutely crave in contemporary stories. The book is brilliant. Read it. Now.
4.5 stars. Quite a unique plot with two realistic and beyond exhausted MCs. Neither was looking for a relationship, and Julian in particular fought against it for quite some time. Their mutual dislike at the start was understandable as Kieron really was a jerk, but he became so much sweeter as Julian saw the real him. Two complete opposites crashing together into a messy whole in a delightful variety of locations.
I kept waiting for the angst and the broken pieces typically found in the characters this author writes and they just didn’t materialize. The characters were still snarky and quick and vulnerably resistant to opening up but the chemistry, heat and connection drew them back together. Delightfully high heat. And engaging, dynamic characters. Loved the random text tidbits from Sonny. This author remains one of my faves.
I have just finished this and, like all of Sophia's books that I have read, I loved it. The plot was good and I liked both of the main characters. I really liked that alternative points of view and I really enjoy getting inside of the head of the each character. I have read all of Sophia's books now and I am yet to be disappointed.
Sophia Soames always writes emotions and characters so well. The vibe of this book was so good. Totally opposites attract, getting suck in one's orbit. I was invested throughout the story . I would definitely come back for more of these two!
When reading this story, you can tell that the author experienced this lifestyle and truly understood what it takes to handle all that entailed. This is a quirkily beautiful romance of two men who don’t really understand how to be in a relationship learn together how to make it work. Both Julian and Kieron have jobs that make being home whenever their partner wants or needs difficult at best, yet together they find a way to make it work for them. They do not have an atypical romance, but it is real and them. With a close-knit group of friends that support and let them know what they are doing wrong they learn how to find that right balance in both their work and love lives. What made this one so great is so different from Sophia’s generally angsty writing, yet you still feel their voice in the writing. It was a fun change of pace to see another style of writing that may be different yet still just as beautiful.
