Ceason: A Modern Fable and Poetry Collection

Rate this book
'Aesop’s Fables' meets 'Sex and the City' in this whimsical tale and poetry collection on love, self-acceptance, and the cycles of life.

The girl has a secret, and the clue is in her name.

For as long as she can remember, Ceason has transformed with the seasons. In spring, she is green-haired and full of hope; in summer, she is fiery, bright-eyed, and fierce; in autumn, she grows pensive and her eyes darken with the shortened days. But throughout every season, she runs from winter—when she takes on a monstrous form.

Then, one spring, she meets the Artist, and everything changes. Now, she must confront all the secrets of her past before winter’s arrival or risk losing the only man she has ever dared to love.

Ceason is an experimental fiction that blends a contemporary short story with a poetry collection.

Nowadays, you can find her eating her weight at your local dim sum restaurant, ugly crying at a theatre show, or reading and writing novels late into the night.

This book is an arthouse of literature. Its premise is unique: the main character, Ceason, changes physically and mentally through each season. Each season, we see her attitude change as she views herself and the others around her. The season that causes her anguish is winter. Physically, she is pale, and her hair is blue, but mentally as well, she cuts off everyone and secludes herself. Notably, she breaks up with someone as well during winter. Then, during spring, she meets the Artist, a man who saw beauty in her winter look and said her blue hair was like the sea. Throughout this book, as well, there is a lot of poetry, it's about Ceason and how her understanding of life changes with the seasons. I would recommend this book to anyone, and it would be great for a book club to read. Alot of this book is interpretive, but the concept is well-executed in the book.

Thank you, Netgalley and BookgoSocial, for the ARC.

A book of prose and poems about a girl who changes with the seasons. A story of self-acceptance and having the courage to finally see yourself and allow others to see you too. Devoured this in one seating, and I like how immersive this is. I now want to dye my hair blue and have it compared to the ocean

Thank you Tiffany W Chan, BooksGoSocial & Netgalley for the ARC!

Ceason is a beautifully crafted book that blends poetry and storytelling with elegance and emotional depth. Tiffany tells the tale of a girl whose journey mirrors the changing seasons, capturing the evolution of her life, love, and inner world. The poetry is so thoughtfully curated and rich with meaning, resonating on a deeply personal level. Tiffany's writing is heartfelt, making this a super read. An impressive first publication, and I can't wait to see what she creates next!

It’s a Soul Journey Through Every Ceason ♥︎

With every line, my heart swelled and softened, flowing with the words as Ceason transformed with the seasons.

Through the colourful tale of Ceason and the beautiful poems woven into it, each page feels like an intimate unfolding—not just of Ceason herself, but of my own seasons of life. This collection speaks to me soul deeply, unraveling layers with grace and vulnerability, love and ache, and quiet bravery.

I absolutely LOVE this book and recommend it with all my heart. The words touched me so much and carried me through into a mesmerizing journey — wild and free, soft and strong, and a uniquely beautiful one.

My words won't do it justice, I can’t wait “for the rest of the universe to see all of her and love her just the same.” -- both Ceason and the talented writer Tiffany.

A beautifully written modern fairy tale
As Ceason's story unfolds, we learn about living with a secret, falling in love, connecting with family and how to trust again. A magical novel about growth, love, and rediscovery, Ceason’s journey is told with lyrical grace, blending poetry and prose in a way that’s both moving and memorable. A truly inspiring debut, and I do hope there is another chapter in the tale.
