Fake dating the town’s grumpiest hockey player wasn’t part of my plan. Neither was falling in love with him for real.
Gunner Kinsey’s piercing blue eyes and rock-hard abs have all the women of Lucky Falls fooled. But I know the truth. He’s a six-foot-five ice king who freezes out anything that isn’t hockey. And the first thing he let go was me… his childhood best friend. I spend the next decade studying to be a mechanic and pretending he doesn’t exist. But when a dream opportunity to join the most elite ladies’ society arises, dating Gunner is my only ticket in. We strike a deal. A few fake dates. A few fake kisses. And then we call it quits. But remembering it’s all for show is difficult, especially when Gunner treats me better than all my ‘real’ boyfriends ever did. With every touch, with every small smile, with every kiss, the tension between us burns brighter, but Gunner’s holding something back from me. Will our fragile bond be able to survive when the secret he’s hiding gets out?
A girl mechanic who people only sees her for her beauty but the childhood friend that was forced to break their relationship was always and still fully in love with her.Fake dating but the other wishes it to be real.Complicated family situation but they always choose themselves.I like this story a lot, because even if they had problems, her family vs his family, they still chose their relationship even if things were hard.
Honestly this was pretty good and a good palette cleanser. I breezed through it. I was depresso from reading heavy books and this was refreshing. Quite well written with an interesting plot. Characters aren’t bad either I think they were quite solid. Noticed a few mistakes from editing but nothing consistent so that’s good. For anyone into spice or smut, there is zero of that. For a romance book it was a little weak. I’d say the first half of the book it was pretty swoon worthy and exciting. But then in the second half it became super plot heavy and the romance took a majorrrrrrr backseat. Basically I just didn’t get the emotional release I was looking for.
this is the sequel to ice mechanic. where we see Rebels story.
Rebel is April's best friend and co owner of the mechanic garage. How to describe Rebel.. she likes Pink.. like everything is Pink it got a bit much, but I guess it's just her, haha
Gunner, we met in the ice Mechanic as well as he is a team mate of Chance (April's boyfriend) and co captain of the hockey team and well grumpy as everything.
The story flowed well with some good plot where nothing really felt drawn out or over complicated. The relationship, even though they started as fake, was a mature one once they figured out the truth between them. I loved that Rebel asked for some space to really think about the relationship, and that gunner respected this and didn't try and sway her.
Just a couple of small things I felt were missing or could have been a little better: 1. what were Gunners tattoos? and is there a story about them? 2. Gunner needs to move out. i thought we might get something in the epilogue about that, but we didn't.. that boy needs to move away from his crazy arse mum... wow
I can't wait for more, Gordie. She is too adorable.
No, smut, so don't mark down just because of that.
This is the second book in the Lucky Strikers series. Starting with the first book is recommended. I know many series of this type can be read as stand-alones, but this one should be read in order.
Rebel is a female mechanic in a small town that is pretty much owned by the Kinsey family. Rebel has been vocal about Gunner, a member of the Lucky Strikers hockey team and Kinsey royalty, being her enemy. Imagine her surprise when he steps in to rescue her by pretending to be her boyfriend.
Rebel has to overcome her bias about the Kinsey wealth and choose to see Gunner once again as the little boy she used to be friends with.
However, Gunner discovers a dark family secret that may give Rebel reason to hold onto her grievance with his family. He has to choose between being honest and possibly losing her forever, alienating his family in the process, or keeping it to himself and maintaining the status quo.
I liked Rebel and Gunner's story more than I liked that of April and Chance. They had more challenging issues to deal with, and their chemistry was great.
I'm looking forward to reading Renthrow and Delia's story next!
3,5/5 I liked that the book was easy to read. I didn't feel like it was too long or that there were any unresolved issues. Although I felt disconnected from Rebel and her "my biggest problem is being hegemonic," I thought the author's idea with Rebel, Delia, and April was very good, and how both in the book and in real life, women are belittled in that field of work. I applaud her for making that decision. I liked the relationship between Gunner and Rebel, although the transition from a fake relationship to a real one seemed a bit rushed. I love Gunner; he's a real man, a walking green flag. Most of the other characters had their good moments and I liked that Carol's attitude underwent a positive change that, in my opinion, wasn't rushed or out of place.

I ate this book up 😍 Definitely like this one more than ice mechanic. The story line is amazing and really addictive. I read half the book in one day I couldn’t stop.
Ugh Gunner 🔥 to die for and Rebel omg she’s ferocious I live for her. The plot twist was something I would have never guessed and it really made the book.
I enjoyed that it was a clean romance book, I’m usually really into smut and didn’t realize that the Lia is a clean romance author until I finished reading book one 😂.
Can’t wait for the third one to come out.
(There were a few writing errors that I noticed but they didn’t bother me)
Ice Princess was adorable and I was hooked with the plot twist! The pacing kept me turning pages, and honestly, Gunner completely stole the show—he was the sweetest, most lovable part of the story. 🥹
That said… the FMC drove me a little crazzyyyy. She’s supposed to be this tough, bad-ass character, but then spends half the book whining about everything under the sun. Like girl… we get it. Life is tough, but there are richer people than me out there and you don’t hear me complaining every five seconds 😂
Overall, a good read with a sprinkle of suspense and a total cinnamon-roll MMC to balance things out. Just wish Rebels “bad-ass” matched her energy
This was exactly as advertised. Fast paced, great characters, tension and banter. I don’t know if I missed another book in this world because it kept mentioning things that happened with another couple prior to this one but nothing in the opening or cover showed this was part of a series. If there is a first book read that first, it will matter. Otherwise I enjoyed it and every overly pink detail!
This book was so stinking sweet. I’m glad I read it. The MMC is so stinking cute and I love his inner monologue and what a good freaking dude he is! Rebel is a bad ass as well as the kindest soul. I love them so much. The only thing missing was the spice even if I knew there wouldn’t be any I still was annoyed all that was detailed were a few kisses lol but it still was a sweet book and it was exciting to read a book with more of a storyline compared to some of the last books I read 😂
I love Lia bevans writing so much!!!! Rebel and gunner have my heart I love both April and chance tho!! I’m so glad how the book ended and I hope Delia gets a book(idk if there is one or not) but the way the Kinsey connection with the harts is woah I can’t wait to read more Lia bevans books
This book is fast paved and fun. Rebel and Gunner have a lot of laser baggage to work through but most if it isn't as bad as it seems. When Gunner tells his mom Rebel is his girlfriend so she can get into Lucky Ladies group Rebel sees a lot !ire of him.than she wants to.
This was really cute. I really liked the relationship between gunner and rebel. I did think the book was a little bit long and I wasn’t really into some of the side storylines but overall I really enjoyed it!
Loved this more than 'Ice Mechanic', Rebel is such a cutie. Pet names are everything 😍 I love Gunner and getting to know why this pair hated each other in the first book, his mother hates her but that's okay. He's been obsessed since they were kids and nothing can change that.
I love a good friends to enemies to lovers story line. Between a mechanic and a hockey player, I was dying over the so called “hatred” they had for each other.. ate it up.
i screamed and laughed the whole entire time in this book and it was so interesting. i love rebel and gunner and i also really want to read the bonus scenes but don’t know where to find them. i totally recommend
I liked it really well. Especially the romance at the first half of the book. The second one was heavier on the plot and romance was a little meh. But still i love it. I just love the entire series (ice mechanic being the first one)
And I’m so gonna read Delias book. I hipe it comes soon.
This was a cute slow burn between Gunner and Rebel. Which was absolutely adorable and it was a very interesting situation that they hard to work through. I am EQUALLY excited next book with Delia and Renthrow ❤️
3.9 enemies to lovers. rebel trying to rattle gunner with the jacket... gunner has been in love since the beginning. him choosing pink drinks for her. the family drama and how much I hate the uncles. the final chapter with delia and more drama to come.
