Tells the story of the SAS, from the Service's early days to its role in the Gulf War. Part one of the book ranges from World War II to the Falklands conflict. Part two examines the reality of life in the SAS, including the selection process, uniforms, equipment, and discipline.
This is another history of the SAS, Britain's elite special forces, from their inception in the Western Desert of Egypt in 1941, to the their epic achievements in Gulf War II and Kosovo in the 1990s. But this has the added element of being a partially oral/documentary history of the corps. Along the way we read pivotal documents and get special memories peppered into the mix. It makes for a fun addition to the SAS Canon and a worthy addition to any enthusiast's library. There are details enough for the most intense military non-fiction reader, but also a general enough focus so that casual reader will not be bored. Gamers/Modellers/Military enthusiast will find a rich resource for scenarios/dioramas.
