Every choice you make has a series of events that happen to make your life the way that it is. What happens if that choice ruined everything you've ever built in your life?
Kyla Robinson struggles with fighting the darkness. A voice inside her head trying to control every choice she makes. But that isn't even the hardest battle she faces as the depression she has sets in and pushes her to do things she never thought she would ever do.
Can she fix a life that she no longer wants to live in or will she join the darkness and finally get the silence in her mind that she longs for.
In Her Head, pulls the reader into the story from the moment you pick up this honest, beautifully written book. The author did a remarkable job with the relationships of her characters and guided them through life's ups and downs perfectly.
This story is so intense and emotional. I love how it pulls you right into the story and then the author does like a flashback to show us what lead up to that crazy beginning. That cliffy though ☠️. Love love love this book, Bravo Kristen on your debut novel!
This book is really good for people to read as it shows what can happen when mental health problems are there and how you can help yourself it’s a emotional ridge from the beginning and shows how she feels when things are going wrong she hurts herself but what happens at the end to finally get help is amazing sometimes things come and you realize some things are not the right answer this book was so amazing
Amazing first book by Kristen Moran. I think she did an amazing job bringing a hard story to light. I really felt for the main character and her struggles.
In Her Head is an emotionally raw and hauntingly real depiction of the internal battles so many fight in silence. Kristen N. Moran delivers a deeply personal and immersive story through the lens of Kyla Robinson, a woman whose mind has turned against her. What struck me most was how authentic Kyla's voice felt like stepping directly into the thoughts of someone who’s hanging on by a thread. The "voice inside her head" isn’t just metaphorical; it's a presence, a constant shadow that shapes every decision, and the way Moran writes it, you feel the weight of that mental tug of war.
This isn't just a story about depression it's about the guilt, the isolation, and the crushing fear of not being able to trust yourself. There were moments when I had to put the book down, just to breathe. And yet, it’s not all bleak. There’s something quietly brave in Kyla’s vulnerability. Her struggle to reclaim even the smallest parts of her life, to find moments of light in overwhelming darkness, is what makes this story linger.
Moran doesn’t sugarcoat mental illness, nor does she glorify it. She shows it in its messiest, most painful form, and somehow, still manages to offer hope. In Her Head is a powerful read sometimes uncomfortable, always honest, and deeply human. It's the kind of book that stays with you, long after you've turned the last page.
I honestly wanted to love this book since the author is family, but the fact that the main character shares my name & the likeness to our family is evident, it was a bit unsettling for me. I found the writing style difficult to follow & there are quite a few proofing errors in this book...the most glaring of which is when Teagan proposes & asks, "Kyla Anderson" to marry him; her last name is Robinson. Regardless, I'm sure others will enjoy it - it just wasn't for me.
