Many years after the death of his parents, BRUCE WAYNE comes face to face with their killer, JOE CHILL. While chasing down the cold-blooded crook, BRUCE recalls the story of his own past and how he became the world's greatest crime fighter . . . BATMAN.

Even though it written for young readers I think it was really lame. Even when I was a young reader I wouldn't have read it. Of course I have a very high IQ
In my opinion this was one of the better Batman chapter books out of the several I've read to my special needs teen age son. I'm not a real fan of Batman (at least not the 'current' cartoons of him) but I read the books to my son to keep him entertained and interested in books. He enjoys them all but I think although this book did not have very many pictures in it at all; it didn't loose his attention either. Most of the time for chapter books the story needs a picture on a page to keep his attention but this one because of the way it was written the story flowed nicely keeping his and my attention through out the story. It describes Bruce Wayne's past in a way I've never heard it be described and through his own eyes as he races after and captures the man that killed his family. It is a good book.
Batman: The Man Behind the Mask by Michael Dahl is a children's graphic novel. I have never been a fan of any Batman series, but this one was enjoyable. In this book, Batman saves the day as usual from the bad guys who are trying to steal money. Come to find out, one of the robbers that Batman was trying to stop was Joe Chill. Joe Chill was the man that killed Batman's parents twenty years ago. I liked how Batman told how he became the superhero he is, and all the obstacles her overcame. This is a perfect crime fighting novel for 4th and 5th graders to enjoy. Other than the violence and crime, there are no content concerns. The illustrations were also appropriate and fun to look at. Overall, this is a great graphic novel and I enjoyed reading it, and would love to read it to my students.
This book is how batman saves the day, yet again, but this time, the murderer of batman's parents. Joe Chill and his partner try to steal lots of cash in one night.
