Wrung out, and teary-eyed. Devastated for the love and the loss. Warring sides of Alex the light trying to break through, the purity, and crispness of Kit; the darkness and heaviness of Kelvin. This was a page-turner … a gasp out-louder. A butterflies in my stomach read. The unfolding relationships - the depth of the characters. The many facets of love.
Alex is desperate to be loved and accepted … in different way than he was smothered by Kelvin. His relationship - though purely friendship with Kelvin was dark, and abusive; born from trauma while Kit served as a beacon of hope for Alex - an airiness he desperately clung to. Alex has survived being in the system, even as it almost broke him. With his best friend Kelvin, they’ve built an empire that crosses lines. But there are some things Alex won’t agree to, and his relationship with Kelvin is at an uneasy intersection.
Until the night he meets Kit, and the beautiful blond boy makes him think he might have a chance at happiness if he’s brave enough to take that leap of faith.
Kit has a solid job, his own house, and a romantic’s soul. He knows Alex isn’t telling him everything, but Kit has secrets of his own.
And then there’s Kelvin. Alex’s friend and protector. But his love is stifling, possessive. And he does his best to get rid of the man he sneeringly refers to as Kitten. His jealousy sets off a chain reaction that ends in a way no one would have expected…
I really enjoyed how Alex and Kit connected and how life kept throwing them in each other’s paths.
There’s a particularly dark moment (detailed in the trigger warnings) that shows just how far gone Kelvin is, beyond redemption.
The way Ali is able to capture the wonder and joy of Alex and Kit’s burgeoning relationship while showing the brutal reality of Alex’s businesses is deftly done. And how, even after Kelvin commits some truly unforgivable acts, Alex still loves him. Maybe not the man he is now, but the boy who protected him as they began their ascent. Loving the early brotherhood while resenting the toxicity of their current situation.
The tense, white knuckling climax gives way to a wonderful resolution and sun-drenched epilogue. It works because it never forgets the echoes of the past and keeps each MC as they were when they first met, just freed from the burdens they were carrying.
I loved seeing Kit and Alex dare to reach for the light and allow themselves to accept the love they were so worthy of. A great read.

Oh Alex!
I loved this I really did. But it's one of those books that I loved so bloody much, it's gonna be hard to write a coherent review, so bare with, ok? I'll do my best to make sense!
I loved that Alex was already questioning his life before Kit comes barrelling into it. He knew he wasn't a good person, he'd done some bad things to survive, and he made no real apology for that but NOW he was not the person he was, his wall needs to come down a tad for him to be happy with his life, cos he really isn't.
I loved the similarities in the things both Alex and Kit had to do to survive. Neither lied about it, just skimmed the full truth, Alex especially. But Kit had lit something under him, and he needed to keep Kit in his life. The full story about what they did as kids would scare Kit away.
I did not like Kelvin. He said he loved Alex, but I don't think that's the right word for his feelings, if indeed he had any real ones. I think Kel wanted to own Alex, to possess him, but not love him.
I did NOT see things going down the way they did. But now I've come down from that, I think it was the only way things could really be finished, for either Alex or Kel.
Ms Ryecart writes sweet and cute, just as well as she does dark and deadly and this falls in the latter category and I freaking loved it!
Well waited for, Ali, well done!

The Redemption of Alex Cade by Ali Ryecart is a new dark MM romance between criminal Alex and sweet Kit. Make sure to completely read the TWs for this one. Not many of the TWs happen on page but there is quite a bit of discussion about what happened to each character in the past. Alex and his best friend Kelvin have built a codependent relationship having survived abuse but now being the head of a club that runs drugs and prostitutes. One night, Alex meets Kit and it changes the trajectory of his life. Kelvin was not a nice man. I understand why he acted the way he did, but he treated both Alex and Kit poorly. I was invested from the beginning of this story and could not put it down. However, if I were Kit, I am not sure I would have stuck around after being threatened by Kelvin so many times. The ending made me like Alex a little bit more when he admitted that he still would have made the same choices because it led him to Kit. I will think about these characters for a long time.

Alex see Kit in the club that he and Kelvin own. It was one conversation, one moment but it made such an impact on Alex. But Alex knows he can't see Kit again and when it happens he needs to make the most of it. The more he's with Kit the more he's willing to walk away from everything he knows including his best friend to give Kit the life he deserves. Kelvin isn't going to take Kit taking Alex away from him well and will fight for him.
Alex and Kit have an instant connection. The chemistry is explosive between them but the suspense is what pulled me through this read. I was so invested in these characters and what was going to happen next. It was so well written it pulled me in and kept me there page after page!

I really enjoyed this book and loved Alex and Kit together. However, Kelvin, Alex's best friend and business partner, was quite scary. Alex and Kelvin were in foster care together and that is where they became best friends. They looked out for each other and ended up building a criminal empire together. Alex has been restless and feeling that something is missing from his life for a while. He finds what he has been looking for when he meets Kit one night at his club and is drawn to him. Alex realizes that he wants his life to change and to become a better man who deserves someone like Kit. But Kelvin is determined to keep things just as they are. This book shows how the dreams we had as children can be warped and changed as we grow older by dire life circumstances and how some friendships can become unhealthy and controlling. This book had some dark topics but it also showed that people can change their life for the better.

Ali Ryecart has been on my list of favorite authors since I read my first book by her nine years ago next month (Danny & Jude). She writes amazing stories and they run the range from very sweet (with heat) to very gritty like The Redemption of Alex Cade. The writing was fantastic but readers will want to head the content advisory because this one is gritty and graphic in places.
I will admit that her sweeter stories are more to my taste but I will read anything she writes. The Redemption of Alex Cade was difficult to read in places but I knew that Ali would give Alex and Kit their well-deserved HEA. There were a few things that happened that surprised me a bit but they totally made sense. While I now feel the need to read something much sweeter, I am very glad that I read this book.

The Redemption of Alex Cade was difficult to read in places but I knew that Ali would give Alex and Kit their well-deserved HEA. This is an interesting tale of Alex Cade. He runs a night club where other illicit activities happen with his best friend Kelvin. Kel is a bit obsessed with it being just him and Alex. However, one night Alex comes across Kit, who's a complete fish out of water in his club, and Alex wants more. This is dual POV between Alex and Kit. Kit is such a positive figure and you can see Alex warring with himself of whether he deserves this or wants to "taint" Kit. There is a lot of dark/heavy topics but I was hooked and couldn't pull myself away. Is Kel really the best friend he's always trying to make himself out to be? This was quite entertaining!

Ali Ryecart writes delightful dark mm romances. Alex and his partner, Kelvin, own a London nightclub. They're at the apex of London's criminal scene and satisfied with their lives. That changes when Kit comes into the club. He and Alex form a bond and Alex wants to be a better man and leave his life behind. Kelvin was unhappy with that plan, he was creepy and jealous and a major impediment to Alex and Kitt's HEA.

Thank you, Ali & Neon Rainbow, for my copy of The Redemption of Alex Cade. This is a standalone dark mm romance with HEA for the MCs. Alex Cade is a wealthy London criminal and after a chance meeting with Kit, his world begins to change.

This story is dark and compelling. Alex and Kelvin met in an abusive foster home. They escaped at sixteen and lived on the streets doing what they could for money. The two of them made a vow to always have each other’s back, blood brothers. When they finally started making money they were great at business but on the shady side. Years later when Alex met Kit things started to change and Kelvin hated Kit trying to scare him away from Alex. You have to read the story which has drama, angst, steam, murder and romance. Could not stop reading.

I've read this author before. This is a MM story based in London. The main characters are Alex and Kit. Please read the TW. Alex is a product of the foster system and did/does what it takes to survive with his friend Kelvin. Kit is younger that Alex and leads a simple life. The book title is spot on! This story is about Alex walking away for this original life to be with Kit. A very moving story. I'll read more from this author.

Beautifully written. Ali did an amazing job telling a story of survival that goes off the deep end and how treacherous power can be. Kelvin was not a good person in the slightest, and yet Alex’s life was so intertwined that once he was gone, the weight wasn’t magically lifted. It felt real. Kit was a wonderfully level headed character and this book, while not something drastically different, was still a nice read.

OMG. I loved this book so much. The darkness was spectacular and so realistic. It was what was needed in this story. I was creeped out, cringed and had all the feels.
This was unlike any other book I've read by Ali. So much so I want a hardback of it.

"The Redemption of Alex Cade" by Ali Ryecart is a very good, very dark book. Some of the characters may be dark but they are great. There is a connection right from the start between Alex and Kit. And Kelvin there are times he gave me the chills. The story itself is well written and once you start you will want to keep going. I am looking forward to more from Ali Ryecart.

Everything about this book was quite unique and compelling. It was a page turner to the max! Kelvin is a bit scary here and has such close access to make things really challenging for Alex and Kit. It is a dark situation, but I found it be based on a very possible way someone close to someone else might react when they feel they are losing that person.

This was my first book by this author but it definitely won’t be my last. I really enjoyed the story and it was well written. I liked how different Kit & Alex were and that they brought out different things in each other. It’s not an easy read as they have both had rough lives, so be mindful of the TWs, but it’s definitely worth a read!

Have to say even though I was a bit doubtful due to "dark" warning i thoroughly enjoyed this. I was pulled in from the beginning and kept completely captivated even through the angsty moments of their will they won't they relationship build! Well written with brilliant characters, highly recommend

Brilliant
Ali Ryecart is a new to me author. I met Ali at Rare25 London 🇬🇧 this book was brilliant. Set in London, with the trials and tribulations of Alex, Kit and Kelvin of how they got to be where they are today. I don’t want to give too much away. It is a dark book, but there is plenty of suspense and spice. Will definitely be reading more books of Ali’s

I absolutely loved watching Alex free himself from the toxic environment he was mired in with Kelvin. Meeting Kit was like turning on a light in a dark room, he had to face the reality of the life he was living. The freaking drama of it all had me completely invested, a highly entertaining read.

At 16%, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this book. It was a slow start. But once I got past that point, I really enjoyed this book.
