"Finder—Quin—when did you find your voice?" Sofi asked.

"I have had it many years," I said with a sigh. "When it came, I was too afraid to speak."

"You knew too much," Wolter nodded.

"Too much," I agreed.

Siriaa, already in its death throes, is further damaged by a ruthless politician and a rogue wizard. Quin needs powerful help to save it.

Does such a power exist?

If so, will it answer her call?

Another great story in this series...I love the growing relationship with Justis but damn...how many mistakes can that dude make?

Will I read the next one?

I think I'm gonna pass because I read the reviews and with the mention of all the love affairs --- I think I may start getting frustrated.

I will end with this one and be happy that Quin is with Justis with many other "male" dear friends!

Eh.

There's a saying here that translated in english is “from the stars to the stables”.
This second book in this series is a perfect example of that.

Why I gave a 1-star rating to the second book when I really liked the first one:

The cast of characters got overly and uselessly large. There are more than 20 people here, belonging to countless races, and often with similar names (Kaldill/Lendill, Marid/Morid,…). I couldn't keep up.
If you asked me, I'd say that many characters should have been removed (they are useless) and many others could've been kept without a proper noun and called with appellatives. It would have kept the story simpler.

The MC has become a special snowflake Mary Sue. What the hell, she literally glows. She's just the most beautiful thing on this planet, she is pure and loving and good, she has all the powers and she can't do anything wrong. I much preferred when, in the first book, she was a mysterious Cinderella.

Too damn many POVs. There is the MC's POV told in first person. Then there are countless POVs told in third person. Then there are the MC's "visions" of others, told in third person. Then there's a second POV told also in first person (and this is of the same gender as the first one, adding to the confusion).

Too damn many places. Not only that, but there are different planets/dimensions and, quite possibly, a different time frames on all these places. You could at least provide a map.

This book can't decide its genre. Sometimes it's fantasy, then we switch place and we find ourselves in a very urban setting, then we are back to fantasy, then vampire and werewolves and shapeshifters appear, and we are thrown in an urban fantasy. Then back to fantasy. And so on and so forth.
This wouldn't really be an issue if it was done right. But, as you may guess, it was not: the vampires and werewolves, for example, are thrown in the mix for no apparent motive. If those characters were just plain human it wouldn't have changed anything.

The jump from "cooking with raw fire and fighting with swords" to "taking DNA samples and checking websites" (and back!) is very, very awkward. And really, it couldn't have been otherwise: all the places mentioned in this book have reached very different points with their technological advancements. So you have people who have never seen a stove or a dishwasher talking with people who manipulate DNA and master time/space travel.
Bad, bad idea. It doesn't work.

I'm not comfortable with ménages. I'm not an intolerant nor a puritan, I just know what I like. And, regardless of gender, race and whatnot, I prefer my romances to be one-to-one. If you are OK with a F/M/M/M/M (the MC and her four suitors), M/F/F (king Jurris and his two wives), F/M/M/M/M/M (Queen Lissa and her five "mates")… well, go for it, and I'll be happy for you. But I feel off when the character I'm identifying myself with entertains relationships that I'm not OK with.

Needless to say, I won't continue with this series.
It's a pity.

I would not recommend this book to anyone who has not read the previous series by the author. After the first half of the book, the former main character is no longer the main point of view. There is also several references to other people and events that are never explained.

Furthermore, I found the ending very unsatisfactory, and confusing. It made me feel like this series never meant to be a stand alone series, more of a tool to establish a new plot line with a new threat to the universe, and the characters would have been well established in other books.

As I read both books back to back, I'll just write one review for both.

Quinn, a mute orphan serving as a kitchen servant can find lost things and heal almost everything. First serving a page for a hunted prince, beaten and used with little regard to her life and later abandoned with the Aerii, winged people living a glass country, also serving as kitchen worker but condemned because of her Half breed status. Quinn even after a very tough life tries her hardest with the help of multiple leaders to save her planet from a deadly pathogen destroying her people.

I have to say Quinn is a much better person that I would ever be. I could not to forgive how small, unwanted both kingdom made her feel. I could not forgive the unrelenting beatings and degradation just because she is powerless and of lower status. They are not good people. The only reason anyone paid attention to Quinn was when she had a direct use for her healing ability and her ability to find things.

The multiple mates didn't really work out cause the romance felt unrealistic and fake. Quinn feels young and uninterested in romance and she's got four men waiting for her to mature-creepy much.

I also would like to know why Quinn decided to talk. Also I mean this for every noble she's saved- they are some ungrateful petty people--they didn't even pay her for her services!!!I

Forgot to mention but the world building was a bit out there. It started with a country dying of an unknown disease, fighting on horseback and horsedrawn carriages as means of transpot, to the Aerii, that have stoves, modern refrigeration, and cell phones, to another continent that has helicopters and fighter jets, then to vampire, werewolves, and witches that can teleport from planet to planet. The setting just got bigger and bigger.

I’ve read pretty much all of CS’s books at least once, if not more than once, except for this series which I just started to catch-up on. A lot of people complain about the fact that there are so many characters, keeping up with who is mated to who, and keeping track of all of the different worlds in her universe. Me. I love the diversity and how imaginative her books are. Yes, the mate issue might get to some people, but most of the time I’m so into the story that that bit seems more of an afterthought or an extra treat to consume while reading the main story.
The amount of characters can be daunting, especially if you are picking up a book after not reading the one before it after a while. A lot of the names sound similar and at times I had issues with differentiating who was who until I read further and got more of the context. I don’t think it would be so bad if I could actually “read” how the names were spelled, but I am blind and use TTS (text to speech) to read my books. I agree with other reviewers that a genealogy or list of characters and their relations (except for possible mates) would be a nice addition to the books.
The advent of a winged people was pretty, whoa, but I was intrigued by it. The whole logistics about how a person would really act and do regular things while having wings wasn’t done all that great, but I’d think it is pretty hard to begin with and think she did a good job with it.
I like Quin, she is and isn’t like the heroines in CS’s other series. Yes, she grew up in a crappy situation, yes people are buttheads to her, but all of that isn’t done with the same intensity as with the other heroines. Speaking of which, I love how all of her series are connected to each other in one way or another, though the span of years can change. Seeing how characters have babies, those babies grow up, then those same babies have babies of their own is just something that I really like in CS’s books.

BTW, all of her books are pure crack--fair warning.

This second novel sets a much faster pace than the first novel, and with an increasing cast of worlds and characters, the reader needs to pay attention. I will confess, at some times I had to go back and check who was what and where.

The usual cast of characters evolved with an increase in kicking arse and taking to the sky. Finder aka Quin maintains her integrity as things get a lot more ominous, and remains an altruistic character. The altruism may seem a bit over the top at times, but these scenes are later clarified and gain more meaning.

Yep, I once again launched into the third book!

MAJOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
I loved this book. It was fast paced and constantly had my attention. I actually ended up finishing it in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down. I definitely felt like it lived up to my expectations for this series.
I love Quin. For this to only be the second book in this series, she has grown so much. She went from not expecting anything in life and serving everyone else, to standing up for herself and working with some of the most powerful people in Connie's universe. Even better, she works beside them as an equal and Quin is easily becoming a friend to all of them. Though, I wasn't expecting that cliffhanger, I don't believe for a minute that Quin is dead. She is just too important and too much of a good person for that to be where her story ends (plus there are 3 more books after this one).
So far, I like all of Quin's love interests. While Justis might make mistakes and might not think before he acts, I still like him. I think that he needs to grow some more before he can be what Quin needs, but I think he will ultimately turn out to be a good guy. I really love Kaldill and Daragar. They are so precious and I know that they will always be there for Quin. I couldn't have picked two better mates for her myself.
SIDE NOTE: During the last book, we got brief references to some of the characters in Connie Suttle's previous series and I have been eagerly awaiting their arrival. I was not disappointed when they appeared in this book. I was actually surprised at the number of past characters that showed up for this installment.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. While I am a little uneasy about the five year time jump at the end, Connie has done it before and I didn't have too many problems with it. Obviously, I will be continuing the series and I can't wait to read the next book.

Actual Rating 3.5 Stars

I don't know what to make of this book, honestly I'm still conflicted with how I feel about it. I was happy that the romance aspect of the series is finally kinda panning out but no way was I able predict that it would turn the way it did.

This is my first series from this author so I didn't know what to expect. There was no inkling in the first book that some society was multi-partnered/mate oriented so I didn't expect Quin to have openly multiple suitors/relationship (not that I'm against it) it was just surprising since the protagonist was just 16-17.

There were so many new freaking characters, shifting multiple POV's, worlds, side plots, that were introduced that half of the time I was confused and felt that I was missing something. Maybe the other characters that were introduced were from the author's other series strata and this was just a spin-off and I was just clueless about it? I don't know. But if that was the case, for a first time reader of this author it was tedious and burdensome. I skipped some of the scenes with the new characters POV's.

Anyways, I'm still excited to read the next one.

I really like this author and her stories but in some ways I was disapointed with this. Finder was in my opinion made better for the lack of lissa and co. There was a fresh set of characters which we were getting to know. This second installment as much as I love these characters i feel like having them ruins the connection to our new heroine slightly as we have side trips ruining the flow of the main narrative to we see side bits from old characters perspectives.

Compared to the way we got to know lissa and reah, which was more linear initially (in my opinion). Where as like the mighty heart and now to an extent finders tales are compromised in some small way to me by continuing to tie everything together. I never bonded with the might heart as a character, now i'm afraid i wont bond with finder should we continue to mesh too much of what lissa thinks/does into things.

Where did all these characters come from?!
I really liked the first book (got it for free on Amazon) so I bought the 2nd in the series. All of a sudden new characters are keeping popping up and without any introduction, like I should know them. Turns out they are from other series... I stumbled my way through the book as new charters (with names similar to other character names already existing) showed up one after the other.
I like her writing style and did eventually get everyone straight in my head (mostly) but I really wish it would have been explained in the book description that this series was a continuation of a previous series. The fist book also gave no clue.
If you liked Finder, I highly suggest either stopping after the first book or going back to read her other series.

Finder now has been given a proper name, Quin, but it's not the only change in her life. The spite the fact that she now's living In Aviia surrounded by winged people who call themselves Avii, she still is seen as less of a person. Called halfblood and being ridiculed on daily basis doesn't bring her down. Quin is finally starting to voice her thoughts and bringing forward her other gifts. She finally finds friends and people she cares about but showing her talents to others brought her closer to danger. People are trying to exploit her, which is nothing new for her but for the first time she has people to fight for her, but that also means that she's got people to loose as well.

I borrowed this and the first book from my mom. If I had to buy it myself I probably wouldn't have made it this far. I'm frustrated by the constant switching of POVs. It changes the feel of the story and a few pages in you read like its the end, that fast build up. The story itself is interesting so I kept reading. By the end I was into it and enjoyed the book. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they didn't have anything else to read and wouldn't mind a little frustration during their read. I'll read the next and see if it's better. Mom has that one too :)

I was actually liking the series initially, even though it was confusing and felt like I'd dived into the middle of a story, about half way through the book I can honestly say I've had enough.
There is so much going on its hard to keep things straight.
The romance(if you can call it that) appears out of nowhere and quite frankly, anything other than monogamy holds absolutely no appeal to me.

So I guess this series will make the latest addition to my dnf shelf.
Hearing all that I have and having personally read it too, I don't think I'm ever going to pick a Connie Suttle book again.:(

Very Interesting

This book was much easier to read than the first one. During this book it was easier to sort out the characters and who they were supposed to be.

The first book started off wonderfully in comparison to this one. In that one she was mysterious - at least.
Now she has become an overly powerful Mary Sue. Is there anything that she can’t do? Is there anyone who does not desire her after being within her vicinity for a short period? How many laps did she crawl into or end up in? Smh. When the Elf King told Justis that they would have to wait three years I was taken aback. Like really? She became some sort of male magnet and over powered with the turn of each page while being long in existence were unable to make decisions as good as hers.
Now the author. Why did just about ever character speak the same? And the constant bursting into tears where she was previously all strong and silent... Really?
This whole story has suffered a tremendous regression. The opposite of ‘rags to riches’.
Will no recommend, will not be continuing with this series

My fears about the plot going off the rails towards the end of the last book were fully founded. Vampires, Elves, Demons, and whole other planets?? It really felt like the author was throwing everything at the board here, and I couldn’t keep up. I guess they had to explain the MC’s powers somehow, but I really wish they’d kept to the original three races from the first book. I skimmed to wrap up the plot points from book 1, but this book just didn’t draw me in like the first. I don’t think I’ll be continuing the series any time soon, even though book 2 ends on an interesting cliffhanger.

This felt very much like the end of Tess of the Emerald Sea when the author tried to tie in other worlds from their other series, and I’m just not here for that. I really prefer self-contained stories.

Hard to follow

Good story line but hard to follow at times. I found I had to reread sections and think hard about who I was reading about. It just seemed to jump to someone for no reason at all. Nothing came of their part at all. I did not like that Finder didn't seem to be in love with Justus... they really had no story. She seemed unable to be in love at all. I didn't like that...something was missing. She seemed closer to Dena than anyone....

This is a very confused and confusing book.
1. It's desperately looking for a genre and feels like it is trying to be them all. Fantasy, romance, sci-fi, reverse harem, etc. There's hints of all of them but it just dips a toe in before flitting away to another tone.

2. TOOOO many points of view! I can't keep up. Half of them are not even in this book or series -- except as another point of view.

I won't be continuing this series.

Hmmmm

I really liked the first book, but found this one rather confusing. I like the concept for the story, but there are too many characters and the book jumps all over the place. Also, how many suitors does Quin need? She is so young, it seems rather revolting since most of them are so much older.

I can't continue with this series. It jumps around all over the place and I can't keep the characters straight. I found myself skimming the parts that were uninteresting. The main storyline I liked but it is just too annoying. I also think it is dumb that the author seems to be setting Quin up to have like 5 different guys.

I enjoy rereading all the CD vampire books

This keeps bugging me sorry. But it says that of all of Lissa's mater she only has 2 that are king vampires and they count Merrill as one. It's true Merrill is but of the "3" king vampire mates, Merrill is the only one that kept it hidden that he was a king vampire. Okay that's off my chest, it just bugged me every time I read it .😏

Intriguing

The sevond book was well written with a lot of political crap one could do without but it had a slap bang ending and wss a page turner. Again you want to find out what gappened and who or what Finder/Quin is. And where she is. Bring on book three!!
