The Right to Be Greedy: Theses on the Practical Necessity of Demanding Everything

Rate this book
From the far reaches of the human mind, come these tales of unrestrained, anti-authoritarianism. No government, no leaders, no authority, no rules, and complete freedom of action Egoism, solipsism, anarchism, and other heresies -- now revealed to corrupt your mind "...offers a plethora of examples, all pointing towards the proof of the statement implicit in its title". -- Bulletin of Anarchist Research

A communist defense of pure greed? Out of the Situationist movement of the 1970s comes a challenging attempt to reconcile Marxist communism with capitalist egoism. The authors propose that selfishness is the highest form of communism, that all morality is a form of self-sacrifice, that the true egoist transcends petty materialism for a more rewarding form of self-fulfillment. One of the most challenging books you will ever read.

Ultras thinking that this book is legitimate and not simply banal hokum is possibly the most laughable phenomenon in Marxism.

compelling arguments but it sounds like spicy council communism a la situationist style.

I really enjoyed this pamphlet. It has some fantastic sections that are extraordinarily eloquent, and it follows in the footsteps of the life-affirming writing style of the existentialists. That being said, I don't think this needed to be quite so long. It could've been wonderful as an essay, and nothing more. But it drags on a bit.

Some really fascinating ideas in here about like pleasure and the necessity of like looking out for yourself and accomplishing your own wants. Its a little too like drenched in philosophical language and also sort of dated (the parts about sex are very heteronormative for instance) but overall very interesting ideas

The first egoist communist text in the USA. An amoral Situationist inspired theorisation of communism. A bit dated but a classic and a short read.

Con una premisa similar a la de Armed Joy pero mucho mejor desarrollada, una reflexión chulisima sobre la necesidad de absolver el deleite y la subjetivización como arma revolucionaria.
