Book 1 of the Devil's Chariot Motorcycle Club trilogy

When your best friend dies and leaves his wife behind, where is the line between comforting her and loving her?

In the Devil's Chariot Motorcycle Club, Dan Trincy had been Johnny Malloy’s best friend. When Dan was killed in a shoot-out with a rival gang, Johnny knows that it's up to him to take care of Dan’s wife Bethany.

Bethany has tried desperately to stay out of gang business. But when Johnny comes over to comfort her, she finds it difficult to pull away from him even though the pain of loss is still heavy on her heart.

Bethany wants to find love after the death of her husband and Johnny makes it oh-so-convenient to do. But will the love they find in each others' arms truly last?

This is the first book I have read by Ms Banks and it will not be the last. This book is a look into the MC life after a member dies. Beth and Johnny's character were relatable and believable. They both need to learn to open thier mouths and express what they feel. There is a cliffhanger so now I must read book two to find out what happens. I recommend this book.

I really wanted to like this one more than I did and it started off so good, so I had high hopes. But it just became too much "telling" and not enough "showing".
I have a hard time getting into a story when there are too many paragraphs describing each person's feelings with very little dialogue between them....moved too slowly and was a little repetitive.
Beth's biker husband is killed by a rival gang and his best friend and club brother Johnny is there for her at the funeral...both of them suffering in silence and fighting their attraction for each other. So much fuss is made of the club "law" that says an old lady can never be with anyone else in the club even after her man's death (never heard that one before)...and that is the main problem throughout the whole book. It seemed unbelievable and even though they both knew they could get in trouble, they kept tempting fate. It frustrated me how they would go back and forth with their feelings and it seemed the whole book went by with little progress.
It ends on a cliffhanger and we are left to wonder what will happen next...but I'm not sure I am invested in their story enough to find out.
An ok story for those who like serials and want a lighter MC book with less graphic sex and violence.

DECENT

I didn't like that Beth was judgemental of the club whores. I understand you didn't want them hanging on your man but the tone was unnecessary. They aren't my favorite part of MC books, but her being so ugly about it was offputing. I suppose it was partially jealousy.

This book had a confusing timeline..They sleep together and he's on his bike tje next morning, and she collapses. But then when they get to the hospital, he says its been days.

Other than that this book was ok. I liked reading about the development of their feelings. But the way they handled it was annoying, because each was scared of what the other was or wasn't feeling. But I understand that because of the forbiddeness their relationship. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

Not Judging... ok so Im judging...

1. Johnny was Dan's best friend.
2. They belong to a MC.
3. Dan's gets murdered.
4. Johnny is there to comfort "Beth"... Dan's widow
5 In more than just a friendly way..
6. How much did Beth love Dan?
7. How long before the relationship between
Johnny and Beth begins to be more than COMFORTING?

I don't know but Im just saying....
If I died and my husband took up with my best friend.. I don't know If I would care if it was a week, a month, several months, A year..
Id come back to haunt that muther-f(*Ker...and my ex bestie....to death...
