I was looking for something broader than a certification prep book, and on scope it delivers. The book covers how to get hired, cost and resource tracking, risk, influencing people, Agile vs traditional vs hybrid, AI, even post-Covid remote work.
Some paragraphs are a bit repetitive though. Chapter one for example repeats itself constantly, including a full paragraph that appears in the body text and then again as a quote a page later, occupying a huge part of the page. A few sentences have words doubled or dropped. The book also spends a long time establishing that the job is hard before getting to what to do about it. Still worth reading for the content though.
If you are aiming to lead change and manage complex programs with confidence, this handbook delivers. It is a clear and accessible guide that blends program management, and essential business know how into one cohesive playbook. Whether you are new to the role or want to level up, this is a must read.
