I didn’t care for this story at all. There were too many storylines with makeshift (“oh this’ll do”) closures if they had closure at all. There was too much happening that didn’t contribute to the main theme of the book. It just felt disjointed and all over the place.

Do I typically read urban/hood fiction? ... NO
Do they usually contain the same themes?... YES
Was this one worth it?... HELL YEA!
I picked this book up for $0.99 on a whim at a Goodwill and somehow got submerged in the messiness. My advice for you>>>GO IN BLIND. The summary of this book does not do what I just read justice. Let me help you with that:
This book is mainly about a bunch of trifling-a** people doing backstabbing s**t. You will hate almost everyone.
I bypassed the much-needed editing in the book and the disheveled timeline by focusing on all the schemes being played among the unlikable characters and BOY OH BOY did the dirty laundry get aired in the last 100+ pages.
I just hate the fact that books 2 & 3 in this Thick series are only available on Kindle.
Trigger Warnings:
- Suicide attempt (not a spoiler)
- Gun violence
- Fat-shaming (and skinny dissing)
- (lots of) Cheating
*Not sure if this is a trigger or not, but you can tell it was written by a man/womanizer -__-
The author could have at least created ONE likable strong black woman to root for. Most of the time, I hoped every trifling person caught literary AIDS. 😑That's how trifling they were.

Awesome Read
I enjoyed every single page. This book had so many ups and downs I can hardly wait to read the next one.
