Everyone knows old lunatic asylums are the best places for ghost hunting.
But a ghost hunt is just an excuse for a good night out, a bit of a scare. And a bit of a scare never hurt anyone, right?

Tully’s been watching a lot of paranormal investigation programmes lately, so when Toby suggests they go look around an old asylum, she thinks it’s a brilliant idea. Toby doesn’t believe in ghosts and doubts they'll find anything, but this time he's wrong. Dead wrong.

There’s something there, all right, and it's waiting for someone just like him to come along.

Some people needed to be incarcerated in the old asylums, and as it turns out, death doesn’t stop their insanity.
It just makes it angrier.

Warning: This may appear to be the same old horror story about some idiots who explore an old insane asylum. Think again. And when you finish this story, don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

The dark suspense really did creep me out. It takes a lot to have me worried about what will happen in the next sentence, the next paragraph. You know what I mean? You’re brain is twitching, and you almost feel tired from wondering.

I was literally freaking out about these characters. What was happening to them. What I knew was going to happen to some of them. And what I feared was going to happen to them.

A lot of my fears came true. Boy, did they ever. Remember watching a scary movie, going to bed, and being afraid to turn out the light? You had to run across the room in the dark and make a leap into your bed. You pulled the covers up to your chin, and prayed you wouldn’t hear a strange noise coming from the closet or under the bed? That’s how I felt. Like a little kid, scared by a silly horror story.

Silly? Not really. It was all out scary and I couldn’t have been happier.

I was like a mad scientist when I read the ending. Rubbing my hands together, a wicked gleam to my eyes, a manic grin on my face, and cacklingly madly.

Another winner

Kate Genet has been one of my favorite authors since I found one of her free books. This story, like all of her others, does not disappoint. Well written and terrifying, this book kept me turning the pages late into the night. I will definitely be buying more of her books.

I feel as if this were two different books in one. The first half was really great. I got chills, the imagery was wonderful, and I really got into it. However, the second half felt like a different story and the scare factor went down.

The story follows Tully and her brother, Toby, as they go "ghost hunting" for fun around a bunch of ruins of an old asylum. Something chases them in the woods. They go home, not sure what to think. That's when the hauntings start. This was excellently done. Kate Genet really built up the scares, presenting a lot of scenes that I could just picture in a horror movie as the hauntings got more and more. I really applaud her for this. It's rare for a book to give me chills. But this part was really well done.

However, then we got to the second part. It went from a haunting that was really chilling to a possession story that actually bored me. It stopped being scary as Toby became Tobias, the serial killer ghost that was haunting them. While it sounds scary, it really wasn't. I felt like I had started to read another book. Honestly, if the book ended after the two ladies "cleansed" the house, I would have been happy. This part just didn't feel like it fit.

I admit, I didn't really like Tully or Toby. I'm not a huge fan of drug use, and there was a lot of that in this book. Everyone smoked weed like it was going out of style, and that's not my cup of tea. Other then that, the characters were okay. The supporting characters were static (so much so that I didn't care when one died) and Tully didn't change much. She had a few awesome moments, like when she was trying to protect her baby stepsister. Toby barely rated the first half of the book since he was always in his room (making me feel like this was Tully's story), and technically wasn't there in the second part of the story where we focused more on Tobias, thus losing Tully.

So, Kate Genet can do really good horror, and I will look for more of her titles. I just wasn't enamored with the last half of this one book.

The story in Psychopathia revolves around twins, a brother and sister, who visit an abandon asylum on lark with two friends. While the twins are off on their own they are chased and attacked by a glowing ball of light. When the four return to the cottage they are renting for the summer strange things begin to happen. I do not want to include any spoilers so I will just say what chased them at the asylum caught one of them. The explanation for the "being" and how he came to be was not satisfactory. Nor was the story line that involved the possession. I am willing to try another book by the author.

Got this as a free ebook and enjoyed it a lot. It was a solid ghost/possession story, and different enough that I didn't have the plot figured out before things happened. There were no dull spots in the story, I never found any of those parts where you kind of skim just to get past them. There were also no typos and/or spelling errors, so yay for having a good editor. Was a little annoyed when the smart female protagonist did a Stupid Character in a Horror Story thing, but that's a small quibble with a very good book. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

Exceptionally Scarey.

I have to admit, I found the characters in this book a little wooden and two dimensional but the gripping story compensates for this. The first half is a little slow but the second half of the book is frightening. The ending was a marvellous twist and one I didn't see coming.

I loved Pschopathia

Characters are great, storyline is awesome. Perfect editing. Most of all this book keeps you engaged and wanting more, the premise could happen which is frightening in itself. More by this author.

Interesting

Wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the story. Unfortunately the story just stops, so there's really no resolution, but maybe that's a good thing.

Terrifying!!!

Scary, gruesome, yucky, and spooky, all while a group of young adults' friendship is being tested, a dysfunctional family goes kaput, and a demon throws his arms in the air and runs around like he just don't care.

Good story

The story was good but the ending seemed rushed. I felt like something was missing at the end. I like to know exactly happened to the characters in the end.
