Devour Me (Beautiful Ruin Duet Book 1) A Dark Rockstar Romance
He saw me once. Now he says I’m his.
I never should’ve gone to that show. One look at Raze Draven, lead singer of the rising band Eternal Regret, and my quiet, carefully controlled life shattered.
He’s beautiful. Brutal. Possessive. The kind of man you run from, not fall for.
But Raze doesn’t ask. He takes. And somehow, I let him.
What starts as obsession quickly becomes something darker. He says he’ll protect me, but his world is chaos, fame, secrets, and the kind of violence that leaves real scars. When I discover the truth about who he really is and what he's capable of, it’s too late.
Because I already let him devour me.
And now I don’t know if I’ll survive him.
Devour Me is Book 1 of the Beautiful Ruin a dark rockstar romance with an obsessive antihero, a dangerously intense love story, and a cliffhanger that will wreck you.
For readers who morally gray men, run-now-ask-questions-later tension, high-stakes emotion, and stories where love and destruction go hand in hand.

When I heard this was about a rockstar stalker, I was totally stoked - it brought back memories of my own ridiculously crazy crush on Jonathan Davis. This book is like a shot of espresso, it zaps you with so much energy. Get ready, it's about to get really wild in here. Raze is a fantastic character, dark, mysterious, and good worh his hands. Maya's innocent and sweet until she's not. I'm ridiculously relieved I have the next book, because the ending left me gasping like a fish out of water.

Intoxicating and addicting. Book 1 of Beautiful Ruin Duet
I was not prepared for the psychological mind games this dark rockstar romance put me through. My emotions were on a roller-coaster with the angst and heart-in-your-throat moments this book was full of. I DEVOURED this deliciously twisted intoxicating story. I couldn't get enough of Maya and Raze's toxic love story. I LOVED these characters, they are interesting and so complex. I need more. I'm still hanging on the edge of this crazy cliffhanger and cannot wait for part 2!
I was drawn in by the premise of a Rockstar Stalker! I found the storyline good, at times some errors but the writing was good enough for me to continue. The second half of the book so much better. I was enjoying it and was eager to get to the end to see how it all escalated.
A good plot, lots of spice, drama and secrets which unfold. Not a typical rockstar story as Raze Draven has a dark background that comes back to haunt him when he finally has found some peace with Maya.
Maya a typical college student, but a quiet, meeker one. She comes out of her shell upon meeting Raze and starting a relationship with him. She gets stronger, more sassy and more confident. He gives her what she needs, but also takes what he needs too. His obsessive behaviour, possessive to the extreme becomes a contstraint at times, nut secretly Maya loves that he cares so much. The ending on a cliffhanger will make you huff, nut book twomis out soon, so that's a plus!
Twists and turns make the story a page turner, I look forward to readimg the next book in the duet and the continuation of other books in this world with the other characters, who also deserve their own stories.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book is magical for anyone who enjoys the rock lifestyle. I didn’t think I’d be into something like this dynamic but these two, THESE TWO. They had me right in my feels from cover to cover. The story is perfectly paced, charged with lust and spice, and gave you a swoon worthy MMC that brings the heat but also is vastly different than other MMCs of dark romance novels that are currently popular. And the playlist to match this one absolutely hits in every capacity. You will not be disappointed in this one 🔥🔥🔥
Devour Me is a dark, consuming rockstar romance that draws you in with its magnetic intensity and refuses to let you go. Kelssi Gouldson delivers a story steeped in obsession, danger, and a fierce, unrelenting love that blurs the line between devotion and possession. It’s the collision of two worlds—one touched by grief but grounded in normalcy, the other shaped by violence, secrecy, and a past that refuses to stay buried.
Maya is a psychology major simply trying to navigate college while managing the anxiety left behind after her mother’s murder. She’s smart, empathetic, and eager to build a future for herself, even if fear still shadows her steps. While I enjoyed her vulnerability and resilience, there were moments when her obliviousness felt at odds with her academic background. As a psych student, I wanted her to tap more into her intuition and observational skills. Still, her emotional arc remains compelling, tender, and essential to the growing tension of the story.
Raze is a completely different force; dark, direct, and burning with a single-minded devotion that borders on unhinged. He doesn’t hide who he is or how he feels. His obsession is immediate, overwhelming, and absolute. He’s the kind of man whose love is a wildfire: destructive, consuming, but fiercely protective of the one person he claims as his own. Every glimpse into his past only intensifies the impact of his loyalty, giving the story a pulse that never stops beating.
The pacing begins deliberately, giving time to settle into the characters’ minds, though the early chapters can feel stretched. But once the story gains traction, it takes off—spiraling into suspense, desire, and emotional intensity. The chemistry is electric, the stakes rising with each chapter, and the darker elements are balanced with purpose and impact. By the time the cliffhanger lands, the tension is razor sharp and impossible to ignore.
Devour Me is a compelling, intoxicating start to a duet that blends obsession, vulnerability, and dark romance in a way that keeps you invested. The ending promises chaos, reckoning, and a storm only just beginning. I am eager to see just how far Raze will go, and how much strength Maya will find within herself, when part two arrives.
When Maya attends a concert with her friend, she surprisingly gets the attention of the band's lead singer, Raze. Prone to obsessing over his romantic interests, Raze quickly starts stalking Maya. The two share a strange connection, and as Maya learns more about Raze, she finds herself falling further under his spell. But his past suddenly comes back to haunt him, and Maya soon finds herself in danger.
I had high hopes at the beginning of the story. The initial meeting of the two characters is very enjoyable, and the original perspectives of the two main characters were engaging. Raze is almost too effective of a stalker and his obsessive and dramatic point of view was interesting to read. I would have liked for him to struggle a little bit more while he was integrating himself into her life, at least for the occasional thing. Instead his stalking is almost magical. For example, he has access to all the video cameras in the world without any effort, it seems.
Maya was a bit harder to like, especially as her major being psychology should have given her more of a background to fear obsessive and stalking behavior. I felt like she fell into Raze's grasp just a little to easily. While there is time where she baulks at the relationship, her hesitation seems a bit performative. I would have enjoyed a bit more cat and mouse between the two, with her more falling into his trap as she slowly becomes more and more dependent on him.
My other complaint is a little harder to describe. I can't quite explain why, but I found a great majority of the dialog between Maya and Raze to be a bit off-putting. I'm not sure if it's due to the kinda folie a deux thing that's going on between them, or what, but I often found myself falling out of the story when they talked to each other.
It was an interesting dark romance that went in a different direction than expected. I just would have liked a little more tension between the two main characters overall.

4 ⭐️ | Dark, obsessive, rockstar chaos — and I devoured every second.
Devour Me is exactly the kind of dark romance that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. Maya and Raze’s connection is instant, electric, and dangerously addictive. Raze Draven is the definition of a beautifully broken, morally grey rockstar — the kind of man who feels like a warning and a temptation all at once.
This book leans fully into obsession, possessiveness, and tension that feels like it’s about to combust. It’s messy, toxic, magnetic, and emotionally intense. The author does an amazing job capturing that destructive longing that keeps you turning pages even when you know things are about to get worse.
I loved the gritty atmosphere, the band dynamic, the “I’d burn the world for you” energy, and the scenes where you can’t tell if they’re about to kiss or break each other. Maya is a strong but vulnerable heroine, and Raze is a storm in human form — completely captivating and absolutely not safe in any way.
Huge warning that this book is dark. Obsession, violence, emotional damage, graphic content, and zero softness. If you prefer healthy relationships, this isn’t it. If you like your romance intense, destructive, and addictive, you’ll inhale this in one sitting like I did.
I’m already grabbing Book 2 because that cliffhanger??? I’m unwell.
I was sucked in right from the playlist at the beginning! I can't help it, I love music and stories about musicians ;)
I also love a story that keeps me guessing. Will she trust him? Will she turn her back on him? What the heck doesn't she know? Is the other shoe going to drop? Will he tell her the whole truth? There were so many questions ...
It's a roller coaster ride that will have you on the edge of your seat right to the last page ... an end that leaves you hanging on for the next book (3 months is going to feel like forever). Cliff hanger anyone?
Raze may be a bit 'stalkery,' but he's otherwise kinda lovable, and he would do anything for Maya. I hope they get a chance to be happy?
I'm thankful I got the opportunity to read this prior to publication. It's a great read that should be on your TBR list if you love a good rockstar romance with a bit of intrigue and more than a pinch of danger.
The beginning of this book had me hooked, but I did find it hard to pick up towards the middle. There was very little plot but loads of spice. The last two chapters had me wishing I could draw it out longer than it was. It was action packed and kept my attention.
This story is very fast paced and both the main characters fall in love very quickly, which I sort of wanted it to take a bit before the obsessive stalking/treasure box was revealed, but it's fine for what it is.
I am looking forward to the second book because the cliffhanger has me biting my nails waiting on the second part of the diet.

Get ready to lose sleep and dive into a world of fiery passion and dark desires. This book grips you tight, pulling you into the intense, almost obsessive love between Maya and Raze. The pages practically turn themselves as you navigate a rollercoaster of emotions from seduction to danger, from love to turmoil. Raze's all-consuming need for Maya will have you on the edge, rooting for their twisted yet undeniable connection. A tale of love, lust, and the shadows where they intertwine, this steamy rockstar romance is a must-read for those craving a wild ride of dangerous devotion and intense affection.
If you’re into dark, obsessive romances, Devour Me by Kelssi R. Gouldson is an absolute must-read. ⚡️🔥 Raze Draven is dangerous, magnetic, and completely consuming, and Maya’s story had me hooked from start to finish. 😳💔 The tension, drama, and emotional twists kept me on the edge of my seat.
And yes… it’s steamy. 🔥💦 Their chemistry is raw, bold, and unapologetically hot, making every scene electric. ⚡️❤️🔥 Fair warning: this book ends on a cliffhanger, so get ready to dive into the next one! 🎸💀
Tropes I loved: 🎸 Rockstar romance 💔 Dark/obsessive hero 🔥 Steamy scenes 😳 Enemies-to-lovers tension ⚡ Emotional rollercoaster
Devour Me (Beautiful Ruin Duet Book 1) by Kelssi R. Gouldson was my first dive into an obsessive rockstar romance, and it definitely made an impression. The story moves fast, blending high-energy action with an intense, all-consuming relationship that keeps the pages turning. There’s plenty of spice, but what really stood out were a few genuinely strong plot twists that caught me off guard. The rockstar setting adds a gritty, chaotic edge that fits the darker tone well. Overall, it’s a bold, addictive start to the duet that leans hard into love, obsession, and ruin—and it left me curious to see how far the story is willing to go next.
🌶️🌶️🌶️ My favorite place in the entire world is a concert. I love the atmosphere and the entire scene. I feel like Kelssi R. Gouldson did a fantastic job of capturing the alternative concert scene in the beginning of the book. I liked the MMC devotion to Maya and his protective nature. You have to love a MMC who will destroy the world for the FMC but would never hurt her. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and it was a fun quick read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Raze is a rockstar but not the typical one. Raze had a rough life then escaped and became famous. I must admit, if Raze is trying to fly under the radar, perhaps becoming famous wasn't entirely helpful. Raze meets Maya at his concert. Maya is much more reserved than Raze. Raze is obsessed from the start. This is a book where obsession equates to ownership and protection. Just when Raze has everything in his life he wants, his past comes back in a brutal way. The book ends with a huge cliffhanger! Looking forward to the next book to see how all the secrets play out.
Written so rough. And needs a SERIOUS editor! On page 37-40 (on Kindle) the MMC isn’t supposed to know the FMC’s name, but the author lets it slip for a sentence and then reverts back.
I read cover to cover. I was thinking this would have more plot and balance out the spice. No. This is EXTREMELY spicy… like a 4 🌶️ on a scale of 5. Plus, the plot in here seemed half-conceived.
I know I will definitely NOT be continuing even though it’s only a duet.
Maya is a college student, and Raze is the lead singer in a rock/metal band. They meet, and he is instantly obsessed. The intense connection forms for Maya, too, and just as things seem to be going well, Raze’s dark past comes back. I did get frustrated that he kept putting off telling her about his past that was relevant to her. And then of course, it comes back to hurt both of them. The ending is a cliffhanger
This is a classic dark romance. Our MMC is instantly obsessed with our fish out of water FMC. He has a dark past that's bound to come back to haunt them and her mother was tragically killed when she was a teen. This is a duet so we do end on a cliffhanger but I'll be looking for the 2nd book. (Also, his bands mates are already asking for their own stories)

I loved this book. Not only is it my favorite genre, rockstar, but it kept me reading and reading. I could not wait to get back to it once having to put it down. The love that they found in each other was nothing less than beautiful. It was dark. It was romantic. Thank you BookSirens for thr copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Couldn't put it down. Raze and Maya had my full attention her innocent start and his involved history made me want to keep reading. The cliffhanger is making me want to climb the walls. Can't wait for book 2.
It was great in the first half but then lost me at 50% I wanted to love it but couldnt commit especially seeing the author used AI in her work I was worried it was also in the writing. The preface and all was there but not enough to keep me.
Ok Besties... 👀 this read was sooooo good! Dark, spicy, and sneaky addictive. I’m still processing, but the full tea-spilling, spoiler-free review is coming soon. 🥀🖤
This was such a good and thrilling read. Raze is dark and obsessive while Maya is light and innocent. But what they have together is a perfect romance. Cannot wait to see what's next for these two.
This book took me by surprise in the best way. I’ve read my fair share of rockstar romances, but this one leans into the darker psychological side of obsession in a way that feels unsettling, tense, and strangely magnetic. I wasn’t expecting to be as drawn in as I was, but once the shift happens, it really happens.
The emotional pull is what worked most for me. The author does a great job capturing the feeling of being both terrified and intrigued by someone, and the internal conflict that comes with that. I also loved the dual POV—it adds a layer of intensity and lets the reader sit inside the discomfort instead of being told how to feel. That’s where the book shines.
That said, there were a few things that held it back from being a full five stars for me. I would’ve loved a little more gradual development in certain moments, especially early on, to deepen the emotional payoff later. Some scenes move very fast where I wanted more time to sit in the tension and see the impact on the characters. The cliffhanger works, but I think an extra beat of emotional reflection before it hit would’ve made it land even harder.
Final thoughts: Dark, obsessive, well-written, and definitely not for every romance reader—but if you love morally gray dynamics and psychological tension, you’ll probably devour this in one sitting like I did. I’m already planning to read book two.

While this isn't the worst book I've ever read, it was far from the best. It had the potential to be a really good story but there was just too much. Random characters came out of nowhere with no context and no backstory. The editing was bad with a lot of typos, plot holes, and run on sentences. I wanted this to be good so bad but I was so let down.
