Quinn
I've spent the last four years since moving out of my parents’ house at nineteen trying to prove that I can be independent. Yet every month that passes, where I’m barely scraping by, leaves me feeling more and more like a failure. With the encouragement of my best friend, I decide to become a camgirl as a way to make ends meet.

When a bad date leads to a chance encounter with a handsome stranger, I find myself captivated. But my life is a mess, and I don’t need any distractions. If his cold exterior is any indication, I don’t think he’s even a little interested.

But then the stranger turns out to be my top subscriber, the only man I’ve entertained for private sessions, and I don’t want to let him go.

Zack
It’s been five years since I lost my best friend, left my fiancée, and walked away from everything I’ve ever known. I’ve worked hard to secure walls around my heart and build a new life for myself.

I don’t form lasting connections.
I don’t allow anyone to get too close.

But my carefully crafted mask begins to crack after meeting her. With a smile that could rival the rising sun, will she be the one to chase away the shadows threatening to consume my soul?

Finding Haven is the second book of an interconnected standalone series. It is a full-length strangers-to-lovers, grumpy sunshine romance featuring a plus-size main female character. This book contains dark content that may be triggering for some readers. The romance aspect of this book is not dark. This book contains explicit language and sexual content.

Finding Haven by Kay Thorne
4/5⭐
3/5🌶️

This was my first book by this author, and it was an emotional journey! Zack, a cop, experiences a heart-wrenching loss when he loses his best friend. Needing a fresh start, he moves away from his hometown and takes a job as the head of security at a hotel. One day, he meets a woman at the bar, and the chemistry between them is undeniable, but they part ways. Enter Quinn, a smart and confident woman who dreams of opening her own boudoir studio. She’s trying to make ends meet, and her friend encourages her to create an adult account on Frisk. Little does she know that one of her subscribers is Zack! As they start exchanging messages, their connection deepens.

My heart went out to Zack. Not only did he lose his best friend, but he also went through a tough time with his ex-fiancée, which left him feeling closed off and distant. He mostly keeps to himself, focusing on work and avoiding relationships. His decision to join an adult site was a way to relax and avoid a relationship. But he finds himself drawn to the cam girl he’s talking to, feeling a connection he can’t quite explain. When he discovers she’s the same woman from the bar, he knows he wants to get to know her better.

Quinn is such an amazing character—smart, independent, and confident! When she talks to Zack, she can sense his loneliness and the trauma he’s experienced. Their conversations on Frisk make her feel safe and understood, and once she realizes he’s the man she met at the bar, she knows she wants him. I loved how patiently she helps Zack open up, showing him understanding and care as he begins to heal. The moment he finally lets his guard down and becomes vulnerable with her is just beautiful. I loved how protective Zack is of her, always wanting to take care of her and reassuring her that she can lean on him. There are some swoon-worthy moments that made my heart flutter!

Overall, this was such a great read, filled with emotional, sweet, and spicy moments! I adored how Zack and Quinn’s relationship unfolded, helping each other heal, build trust, and lean on one another. It was beautiful and heartwarming.

So you’re telling me the broody security guy who saved Quinn from a 💊 drink disaster is also her number one subscriber on her not so vanilla cam site? Yes. Yes, he is. And I devoured every flirty, filthy page of it.

Zack Mercer is the kind of guy you hope is lurking at your bad dates—ready to shut down creeps, flash his dimples, and vanish into the night like some swoony ex-cop Batman. But fate (and a small-town bakery security install) brings him back into Quinn’s life. What he doesn’t realize? He already knows her intimately… just under a different screen name.

Quinn is hustling hard: bakery shifts by day, Frisk content by night, and dreams of opening her own boudoir studio someday. Her cam account is supposed to be anonymous until her most devoted subscriber turns out to be the same guy who makes her heart race IRL.

Their love story has all the good stuff: emotional healing, slow trust building, diabetes rep, and Zack going absolutely feral for Quinn (in and out of chatrooms). While the story dips into some heavier pasts—abuse, trauma, financial struggle—it never loses its cozy, hopeful tone. It’s low drama and maximum heart. Zack and Quinn aren’t just steamy; they’re sweetly soul matched.

Swoony Lines:
“It’s knowing that every painful thing we’ve ever suffered through was so that we could find each other. It’s looking into someone’s eyes and knowing that your future, everything you’ve been searching for, is with them.”

“You chased away all the shadows with your light, and because of you. . . with you, I feel like I’m finally living again.”

I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.

Zach and Quinn couldn't be more different. From their backgrounds, to their lives when they meet each other, they have different experiences. Zach is a hard working ex cop with a lot of trauma, and he's also Quinn's number one subscriber on her Frisk site, his one escape from the everyday. Their paths cross eventually, bringing their fantasies to life, and neither of them look back.

This was cute! Zach and Quinn have a slight age gap, and very different experiences. But they absolutely work together. They have a smaller age gap, and Zach is obsessed with Quinn from the second he finds her Frisk site. Overall, an easier read. I did find that it felt like nothing really happened in the book. They got together, and that was kind of the end of that. Which is fine, but given Zach's side hustle, I think I was expecting a little bit more. The book does claim to rely heavy on the spice in it, but i didn't find it to be overly spicy at all, and I think I gave it 2.5 peppers, so don't let that scare you away if you are concerned.

Overall, very cute.

This is such a sweet romance with a lot of spice! The chemistry between the leads is off the charts. He’s the classic grump with a soft heart, and she’s a confident, plus-size woman who completely owns her story. The age-gap dynamic adds just the right amount of emotional tension and depth.

What I really loved is how real and relatable the characters feel. Their banter is fun, their connection is intense, and the steamy scenes are seriously next level. At the same time, the emotional moments hit hard in the best way. Kay Thorne does a great job balancing heart and heat.

Huge thank you to the author for letting me be part of the ARC team—it was such a fun and spicy ride! I’m definitely looking forward to what’s next.

So your best friend (and roomie) convinces you to start a spicy online account to help pay your medical bills and get your car back on the road, right? Well that sounds all good and fun, and hey, any extra little bit of money helps right now so why not? So what happens when the man you’ve met in real life, who also happens to be installing the new security system in the bakery you work at, and is friends with your boss is your top subscriber? You following? 😮‍💨

Zack Mercer is a lone wolf. He’s been burned, over and over again in his life and he left his hometown to start over. He’s working security for a hotel, after leaving his job as a police officer behind and he’s lonely. He needs something to take the edge off, so he turns to a new spicy website he’s heard so much about and quickly recognizes a certain beautiful blonde bombshell.

Now Zack must decide if he wants to keep his online identity a secret, or come clean and hope the woman he’s so infatuated with might actually want the real him.

Let me tell you, I enjoyed every minute of Zack and Quinn’s story. They were so sweet, SO SPICY, so fun, and so easy to enjoy. Very little drama, all the dirty talk, some deliciously possessive moments, and one very happy HEA.

Both characters have phenomenal growth. They learn to lean on one another, hold each other up, be each others shoulder to cry on, and they really grew best together. Zack was so supportive of Quinn, and in return Quinn fell for Zack and all his jagged, broken pieces. The full circle moments in the book were so heartwarming and I’m sad to say goodbye to these two, although I know they’re living a beautiful life, together.

Thank you, Kay for the opportunity to Beta, and ARC read this one. Those epilogues? Chefs kiss. It was an honour.

This was a fun read. I really enjoyed the hidden identity aspect and some very light stalking. It really kept the pages turning because I couldn’t wait until they found out about each other.

The rest of the book was good. The relationship was nice and generally fun to read. Zack was so sweet with Quinn and Quinn was nice, I liked her straight-shooter vibe. I also really liked the T1D rep - I don’t have it myself but nice to see it represented in this book and how it impacts her emotionally/psychologically

However, the connection was a bit shallow to me and mostly based around attraction, though they have nice bits of convos here and there. There’s some vulnerable sharing moments but it didn’t hit for me though overall they very sweet and loving moments between them. Some of the open-door scenes are pretty hot but it also kind of faltered a bit for me because the connection wasn’t that deep, it all moved a bit quickly. The whole undercover assassins organisation thing didn’t quite work for me either.

In general, nothing particularly stood out and I think in some ways the story was a bit simple for me. Again, a nice read generally but I just wanted something ‘more’ to give it some oomph.

Overall a good read, goes by pretty quick, and an enjoyable way to spend a few hours reading. If this book really seems like your thing, I wouldn’t steer you away from it - you may really enjoy it!

Happy release day to Finding Haven!! 🎉

I was lucky enough to beta read this incredible novel recently and absolutely devoured it!

I loved the mix of broody and sweet that is Zach and the strong and resilient woman that is Quinn. I loved watching their love bloom, first through a screen and, of course, them turning up the heat 🔥

Dark and broody, sweet and spicy, everything about Finding Haven was absolutely delicious 😋

And it’s out now! 🙌🏻

I'd like to thank the author and Luna Literary Management for including me in the ARC team. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. All opinions are my own.

Actual rating 3.5 stars (as shown on Storygraph), but rounded down for GR purposes.

I like the story and the low angst angle of the book, however I found it a tad boring and action-less. My biggest issue was with the language that was used when it came to their *special* time. Quinn said a few times that she wanted someone to take over, take control of her life, be it in or outside bedroom. And Zack was up for it, however for me, he wasn't decisive and *controlling* (for the lack of a better word) for me. Maybe, I'm spoiled with other books where Doms take over without constantly asking 'is this ok, is this what you want'. To me, that showed a bit of immaturity of the author, and hey, that's nothing bad. It just wasn't for me.

DNF.
When the MMC is portrayed to be a traumatised and deeply disconnected person, how does he unravel so quickly? Quinn is not depicted so uniquely that it would warrant him being so besotted.

The inclusion of the Legion felt like a layer of unnecessary intrigue.

The slow burn exploring the push and pull between their personalities would have made a bit more sense.

A good attempt for the arcs and characters it was going for but Mercer doesn’t seem like a realistic character.

Willing to check out her other titles to see if this is a consistent style of writing or just the way this story panned out.

Not for me, but could definitely see why it would appeal to some.

excuse me??? obsessed, will never recover and yet again it feels like something was healed in me while reading this.

first Haven Bound and now this heartwrending, beautiful story?!

Zack and Quinn, with all their demons, were perfect and the way they navigated their story and were there for each other kept me engrossed in this story. I read at work, I read until way too late at night, I couldn't put it down.

thank youuuu for the advance copy 😭 I will never recover but I can't wait for more from Kay!

This was my first Kay Throne book that I have read and I really enjoyed it.

Quinn & Zack were meant for each other. Quinn works at a bakery durning the day but by night she is a cam girl. Zack is a former cop but works security at a hotel. When a bad date goes wrong for Quinn she meets this handsome stranger who turns out to be Zack and the only guy she has ever given a private session to and also is her top subscriber. They both have gone through a tough time and they both need each other. We get to see where things lead and I just really love there story and how it played out!

Finding Haven was the small town romance I didn’t know my heart needed. This was my first book by this author and although the book may not have the kind of suspense or twists that some readers seek, I found it to be a really well paced ode to characters emotional journeys and the power of second chances.

We’ve got Quinn who finds herself gaining confidence in the cam girl sphere right as Zack, our steadfast classically stoic hero, is drawn into her world all for the better. The struggles that Quinn was going through were truly introspective. There’s amazing T1D rep in this book as well as having a plus size FMC. Zack we’ve got battling past trauma throughout the entire book and you end up really feeling for both of them as they continue to unmask vulnerabilities.

Some really amazing spice in here although it’s definitely not over the top. However, this is by no means a closed door or fade to black type romance. Their relationship develops in a really beautifully organic way with tension and some communication obstacles. Really it all left me in a puddle of tears towards the end, but in I way where I enjoyed every second of it.

💕Plus size FMC
🖤Emotionally scarred MMC
💕Type 1 Diabetes rep
🖤Grumpy x Sunshine
💕Small town found family
🖤Open Door Spice

maybe its just me but when youre supposed to be this broody mysterious dark past having cold and guarded man but all it takes is two days and three conversations to crumble your impenetrable walls and spill your deepest secrets… was it ever that deep? unspired passionless slob of nothingburger that made me wish pretty much on a constant loop he was the one that jumped off the bridge that killed his best friend

Ooooooooweeeeee this is a GOOD ONE! Set alongside the same time line as her debut Haven Bound, this follows Quinn - a bakery assistant, boudoir photographer and now cam girl - and Zack who is her secret #1 follower. Oh, he also runs security for a secret assassin group that takes out the trash of humanity. AND he has trauma in his past. The two have an instant chemistry and insane attraction to each other. Zack wants to take care of hyper independent Quinn which is SO SWOONWORTHY. But he worries he’s not good enough for her because of his past. Can they overcome the obstacles together?

I enjoyed Haven Bound (book 1) but I think Kay really knocked it out of the park with Finding Haven! Zack & Quinn are such amazing characters on their own and together their chemistry is off the charts. Can't recommend this book enough!

Thanks to the author & Luna Literary for the chance to ARC read and review!

“If my past has taught me anything, it’s that I’m not an easy man to love. But easy or not, I want to be a man worthy of love. I want to be worthy of her love.”

Kay Thorne’s first book, Haven Bound, was more of a romantic suspense. Finding Haven leans more contemporary but takes place in the same world, with character and timeline overlap, so while it is definitely a standalone focusing on Zack and Quinn, I think you will get a more full reading experience if you read them in order.

I particularly loved Zack and Quinn’s meet-cute and how it highlighted Zack’s protective nature. The spice hits early, and fairly often, with Quinn deciding to utilize her boudoir photography skills to start working as a spicy content creator on the side to make some extra cash. They have some epically hot scenes together. Even though Zack was a bit of a broken character, his caregiver instincts are strong and he is the epitome of a supportive MMC for an FMC who is used to doing things on her own. There is no 3rd act breakup in this one and it is very character-focused, which I found refreshing. Also, this book gets bonus points for the accurate and thoughtful Type 1 Diabetes rep! The way Zack was so attentive and went out of his way to take a little off Quinn’s plate as far as managing it, was so SWOONY. I LOVED IT!

Oh man the way I loved these two!!

Zack experienced a loss one could never imagine and has spent the rest of his life blaming himself for it and allowing himself to not get attached to anyone ever, for fear of losing them as well. Quinn is a curvy boudiour photographer who, with the help of her bff decides to start a cam girl business (obviously hiding who she truly is). Zack is INSTANTLY smitten with Quinn when he helps her get rid of a bad and potentially dangerous date at the hotel bar where he works. Shortly after he finally puts two and two together that shes in fact the cam girl hes been flirting. The two of them are both very guarded in their own right but when they let their guards down and let each other in they're able to find the love they truly both deserve and have each other to lean on and not carry their burdens alone.

Thank you Kay Thorne and Luna Literary Managment for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Spice: 3🌶

After losing his best friend in a tragic accident, Zack Mercer quit his job as a cop, ended things with his fiancée, and moved to Haven Beach for a fresh start 5 years ago, where he now works as the head of security for the Elysian Hotel. But that's not all his work is limited to. The Elysian Hotel is a front for the Phoenix Legion, a secret organization dedicated to helping people who aren't able to help themselves. His work extends to using his particular set of skills to find and keep track of both the assets and their targets.

For the last 5 years, he's done a good job of keeping everyone at a distance and living a life of solitude until everything changes after a chance encounter with Quinn when he saves her from a bad date.

Quinn Mitchell is trying to make it big as a boudoir photographer, which is why she's working two jobs to save enough money to start her own studio. However, when she's still unable to make ends meet, especially given her medical requirements with having T1 diabetes, she decides to become a camgirl on an app called 'Frisk.' What she doesn't realize is that her top subscriber on the app is also the same man who turned her night around after having one of the worst dates and whom she felt an instant spark with.

These two just clicked right from their first encounter. I loved the ease these two had with each other even when the topics and situations were anything but. The way they handled each other's vulnerable moments made me love them more. It was just the reassurance they both needed. I also loved how Quinn's sassy side was combined with Zack's dominant side.

Zack was a character with so many complexities. He was bold and dominant, and yet there was a deeper vulnerable and uncertain side to him. Quinn was more of an open book who was so thoughtful, understanding, and inspiring. I loved her confidence.

Starting the process of healing is never an easy one. Zack's journey towards healing from his past was not something that happened overnight. There was a slow shift in his perspective the more time he spent with Quinn. He went from isolating himself to slowly warming up to the idea of maybe letting Quinn in but also having fears due to his past experience. He had to keep facing his inner conflicts and actively work towards wanting to heal. My heart broke for Zack, and his journey made me so emotional.

In all of this, Quinn was the calm, patient, open partner he needed who never pushed him too much, knowing that he needed to do this on his own terms, giving him the space to open up about his feelings and fears and validating his issues. As the story progressed, all of Zack's fears were put to rest by Quinn without her even realizing it.

Zack and Quinn complemented each other in every way. I loved the way Zack didn't have to be told by Quinn to be mindful of her diabetes, but he proactively made an effort to educate himself about it—learning to read her levels on the app, keeping the calorie count ready beforehand so Quinn didn't have to worry about it, and making sure she didn't get too caught up in work to forget eating.

The spice was phenomenal. Nothing is sexier than a man who doesn't assume and knows to always ask for consent, and Zack Mercer was the king of consent. The way he always, always made sure to ask Quinn if she was okay with what they were doing, always giving her an out, giving her the option to put a stop to things should she wish to, just made me love this man even more. The spicy scenes were just so incredibly hot. The way this man went absolutely feral and worshiped Quinn's body was everything. Quinn was just as amazing with how confident she was in her skin and in asking for what she wanted.

I think the author has done justice to the T1 diabetes rep in this book and how Quinn's day-to-day struggles and frustration with her body were portrayed. I've read other books with the rep, but this book really made me get how people with T1 diabetes face a daily struggle to keep their bodies functioning. It gives you a renewed sense of appreciation for your own body that we otherwise take for granted.

I also love this book for having an MMC who was in an abusive relationship with a partner, which I personally haven't read a lot about. Especially knowing that Zack was a cop and still went through what he did and how deeply it scarred him made it all the more realistic for me because it brings notice to the fact that men can be victims of abuse too.

There were so many aspects of this book that I could feel inspired from, and one such thing was Quinn being a boudoir photographer. The way she explained how we often tend to be dismissive of ourselves and our bodies felt relatable, and the way she used her photography to bring out the beauty everyone possesses irrespective of their body type made me feel more confident and beautiful as a woman.

I've said this for Haven Bound, and it applies here as well. The found family aspect is so heartwarming. The way everyone stood by both Quinn and Zack was amazing. Bex was such an incredible friend to Quinn, and we all deserve a hype girl like her in our lives. I loved seeing characters from Haven Bound since this book follows a parallel timeline to book one (to a certain extent). I'm sooo ready for Hailey and Ethan's book (if they're the next couple).

Thank you to Kay Thorne and Luna Literary for providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It was a moving experience, and this was my first novel by this writer! The loss of Zack's best friend is devastating for the police officer. Seeking a new beginning, he relocates from his hometown and accepts a position as the security chief at a hotel. One day, he encounters a woman at the bar, and despite their clear attraction, they split up. Quinn is a confident, intelligent woman who dreams of establishing her own boudoir studio. Her friend suggests that she sign up for an adult Frisk account since she's having difficulty covering her expenses. She was unaware that Zack is among her subscribers! Their connection deepens as they start texting one another.

I felt pity for Zack. Along with the loss of his best friend, he went through a tough time with his ex-fiance, which caused him to feel detached and withdrawn. He shuns relationships and focuses on his career, remaining solitary for the majority of the time. He decided to relax and avoid a relationship by registering on an adult site. Nevertheless, he can't quite articulate why he feels drawn to the cam girl he's chatting with. After discovering she is the same woman from the bar, he realizes he wants to get to know her better.

Quinn is an amazing character—smart, independent, and confident! She can feel Zack's pain and isolation during their conversations. During their conversations on Frisk, she experiences a sense of safety and understanding, and she realizes she wants him when she learns he's the man she encountered at the bar. I appreciated how she softly motivates Zack to share his feelings while showing empathy and understanding as he begins to heal. It's truly wonderful when he eventually lowers his defenses and reveals his vulnerability to her. Zack's unwavering urge to care for her and assure her of his reliability made me cherish his protective nature toward her. There have been several heart-stopping, dreamy moments!

Emotional recovery, incremental trust development, diabetic visibility, and Zack becoming utterly obsessed with Quinn (both in and out of chatrooms) are all beneficial elements of their romance. The book maintains a warm, uplifting tone throughout, even as it addresses darker histories like abuse, trauma, and financial struggles. It's all emotion and minimal conflict. Quinn and Zack share a deep soul bond alongside their allure.

I loved the characters' realism and how relatable they were. Their bond is robust, their teasing is amusing, and the steamy moments are truly incredible. The emotional instances also impacted deeply, but in the most positive manner. Kay Thorne skillfully balances heart and heat.

What to Expect:
🧁Plus Size Rep
🧁Mens Mental Health Rep
🧁T1 Diabetes Rep
🧁Grumpy X Sunshine
🧁Cam Girl x Subscriber
🧁7 year age gap

I just love a good power play dynamic and when you add in a fun bratty FMC with control issues and a possessive but caring MMC it makes it all the more fun! The spice was on point and steeeammy in this one, I love a good Cam Girl x Subscriber story and Finding Haven did not disappoint.

This was a fun quick and spicy read with an age gap trope that highlights the importance of allowing yourself to heal from your traumas, learning that it's okay to let go and that finding solace in others is okay too. I loved the Bratty character of Quinn and the possessive but caring character of Zack. These two were a lot of fun together!

The plus size Rep, Invisible illness representation and Men's Mental Health Rep hit home perfectly and was done so well. I really appreciate when authors allow their characters to have space to acknowledge their weaknesses while also working to heal themselves and that's exactly what Finding Haven was about for me.

There was a bit of an age Gap between the characters but I honestly forgot about it until it was mentioned towards the end. I really wish it had been played on more cuz I feel like it could have been a really fun running gag to kind of lean more on that seven year age Gap. Especially with music tastes, media references ECT. That was the only negative for me, other than that the story was great and the build up between these two and the banter was fantastic.

Favorite Highlights:

"I’m not sure whether my heart still beats in my chest or if the steady thump-thump, thump-thump sensation is merely a memory of what once was. Either way, I won’t survive that kind of devastation again."

"But what kind of man would I be if I allowed a woman like her, someone who radiates pure sunshine, to be eclipsed by the darkness that consumes every part of my soul?"

"Hearing him say the word sugar shouldn’t do anything to me. It shouldn’t feel like a match striking against my skin, flames igniting and spreading throughout my body."

"I’m the man who has been calling her “Sugar” like she’s some kind of treat I can’t wait to devour."

"You chased away all the shadows with your light, and because of you. . . with you, I feel like I’m finally living again.”
"You deserve someone who sees you for who you are. Someone who accepts all of you, even the pieces you think are broken.”

This should be a 2 ⭐️ read. Did the author pay for reviewers? I’m really confused by its current 4.22 ⭐️’s. I wanted to quit this book so many times and in the end I wish I had just DNF’ed it.

Almost nothing happens in this book. It’s 305 pages and most of it is elaborately boring sex scenes and woe-is-me ramblings.

Quinn has diabetes and this tends to totally wreck her life. Or at least that’s how she bemoans it all throughout the story. She’s got a part time job at a bakery, part time work as a boudoir photographer, and part time cam girl. With all that going on and having a roommate she’s still struggling to get by financially. And her parents are portrayed as having a decent relationship with he and with no mention of them being anything else so why is she left to struggle so much? We, the audience, are never told 🙄.

Zack saw his best friend and partner in the police force die tragically. His ex fiancé was verbally and physically abusive. Both these things lead to him leaving home and working for Phoenix Legion, a secret group of assassins that save people. He officially runs the security for the hotel, but a big deal art of his life and responsibilities is this secret group.

For all the talk of the Phoenix Legion, we really only see a small bit of action and it’s one man on the team who isn’t our main male character. All-in-all it played out pretty lame.

Zack first meets Quinn at the hotel when he spots something suspicious about her date. While she’s in the bathroom, her date takes off and then she strikes up a convo with Zack. Let me just say that it’s weird he lets the date go after catching him slip something into Quinn’s drink. If this was real life that creep would just be out there drugging unsuspecting women.

Anywho, Zack pays for a premium look into a cam girls one and one session and realizes it’s the girl he just met at the hotel. Already infatuated he becomes her number one customer. Then of course she also happens to be a friend of a friend that he helps out with security and they cross paths again.

Soon Quinn discovers that her mystery customer is Zack and she’s over the moon happy.

The author writes Zack like he should be alpha, but he totally comes across as beta. The author wrote Quinn likes she supposed to be independent but girls failing at life and 23 really isn’t that young.

I will not be reading this author again. Who do I contact to get my time back?

Finding Haven is an emotional, heartwarming, and spicy (kind of) strangers-to-lovers romance that surprised me in all the best ways. The book opens with a gut-punch of a prologue from Zack’s POV, setting a darker tone that carries weight throughout the story. After losing his best friend and walking away from a toxic engagement, Zack starts over in a new town where five years later, he meets Quinn.

This is described as a grumpy / sunshine romance although, in my opinion, Zack is not exactly grumpy, more closed off and guarded due to past trauma which makes it all the more touching when Quinn begins to crack through his walls.

Quinn, a plus-size FMC with a sunshiny personality, is working hard to stay afloat — financially and emotionally. I loved how relatable and confident she was, even while navigating a chronic illness (diabetes) and the tough decision to become a camgirl to make ends meet. The twist(or is it?)... Zack unknowingly becomes her top subscribe and their worlds collide both online and in real life.

The chemistry between them felt intense and immediate, though it grows into something much deeper. Their connection is both playful and tender, with steamy scenes that also pack an emotional punch. I especially appreciated how their relationship helped them both heal, trust, and lean on each other in meaningful ways.

My only critique: I found Quinn's reaction to discovering Zack’s "side job" surprisingly easygoing. Given her otherwise strong-willed nature, I expected a bit more hesitation or pushback before accepting it. That said, it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed their journey.

This was my first read from this author and will be definitely be reading more of her work.
I didn’t read book one — but I had no trouble following the timeline. In fact, I enjoyed the moments where events from book one were referenced and tied in. I'm now eager to read book one, Haven Bound.

“You chased away all the shadows with your light, and because of you... with you, I feel like I’m finally living again” SWOON!

If you told me I’d swoon over a reclusive ex-cop falling for the sunshiney cam girl he’s been secretly simping for? I’d say sign me the hell up... and Finding Haven delivers on that and so much more.

Quinn is the kind of heroine you just want to root for: plus-size, hustling hard, and unapologetically carving out space for herself. She’s juggling bakery shifts, camming to make ends meet, and dreaming of opening a boudoir photography studio. Girl is BUSY and I love that for her. She’s all soft edges and steel spine, and when life throws her a literal drink-spiking creep, guess who swoops in like a broody Batman with dimples?

Zack Mercer. Our emotionally constipated, shadow-dwelling, trauma-wrapped-in-flannel MMC. He doesn’t do feelings. He definitely doesn’t do relationships. But something about Quinn, whether she's on camera and off, undoes him in the best way.

Their chemistry is instant, but the emotional intimacy sneaks up like a slow burn. From flirty livestreams to whispered fears and caretaking scenes (hello, diabetes representation). Zack’s evolution from guarded to completely feral for Quinn? So good.

🖤 This isn’t your typical cam-girl romance. It’s tender and affirming while still bringing the heat. It addresses trauma, loss, financial insecurity, chronic illness, and healing. All with heart, sensitivity, and hope.

To anyone who has ever faced an invisible battle–I see you. You're not alone.

This book had me hooked from the dedication alone and then the prologue hit, and I had to know what happened next. From the start, Zack’s story punches you in the gut. He’s been through so much, you can't help but root for him and hope something good is finally headed his way.

Then there’s Quinn, resilient, fearless, and just trying to make ends meet. She works at a bakery, dreams of being a boudoir photographer, and juggles type 1 diabetes, bills, and a car that’s basically a glorified lawn ornament. When a friend convinces her to dip a toe into the spicy world of Frisk to earn some extra cash, it just makes sense. She’s hot, she's got the camera, the talent, and nothing to lose.

By some weird twist of fate, Zack, the guy she met under not so great circumstances, ends up installing the new security system at the bakery she works at and oh yeah, he's also her top Frisk subscriber. 🤭 Now he has to decide whether to come clean or risk wrecking the fragile connection they’re building.

This story was seriously adorable! I adored Zack and Quinn. The way they slowly learned to trust, support, and truly see each other was so refreshing. They’re opposites in all the best ways, and yet they just fit.

And listen the spice?! Oh, it was spicing. (Maybe it’s just me, but I am always a sucker for a hand necklace and a sweet guy with a filthy mouth.) 🥵💦 You’re going to want a cold drink nearby, trust me.

The drama level is just right in this one. Not too much, not too little AND we get that sweet, satisfying HEA! 😍

All in all, this was fun, sweet, and perfectly swoony! Definitely would recommend! 🧁
Special thanks to Luna Literary and the Author for the arc! :)

This is a truly spectacular contemporary romcom! Even if this genre is t your typical go to, you really ought to read it, Kay is a fantastic storyteller!

Our FMC is Quinn Mitchell. She’s a curvy, tenacious sweetheart and she has a day job at a bakery and a side hustle of being a cam girl on Frisk! Spurred on by her bestie, she is really enjoying her cam work and feeling beautiful and desirable, and working toward her dream of being a boudoir photographer. She meets Zack in person after a bad date and doesn’t know it for a hot second but she’s also met him on Frisk because he’s her top subscriber. The way this plays out is really fantastic. He’s super protective and she leans into being desired and cared for and fussed over in all the best ways. Watching her blossom in this book is really lovely.

The MMC Zack Mercer? Exactly my kind of guy. He’s a former cop, works as security for a hotel and has a side hustle that is top secret. He’s got a thing for Quinn the minute he gets near her, and quickly figures out she’s the girl in his fantasies from Frisk because he pays attention to details. He’s had a rough time, he’s got lots of walls up, but the more Quinn reveals herself to him, the more he trusts her and he finds not only a great lover but a best friend too.

There are some heavy subjects that are tackled in this book but the emotional intimacy is top tier. There’s important representation in the story as well on Quinn’s side, and I’m grateful for that because it’s something that’s touched my own life. And Zack is a soft only for her guy, and it’s one of my favorite tropes in a book. It leads to delicious emotional intimacy, and the spice is so satisfying! A stellar second book in the series and a totally fulfilling stand-alone too. I hope you’ll read it!

I liked the author's unique spin on the grumpy/sunshine trope. Instead of these two opposites fighting their instant attraction or pushing each other away for their own good or icing each other out due to their own insecurities and fears, Quinn and Zack tackled things head on.

I liked how organic their relationship felt. It might have moved along fast but it's didn't feel rushed at all. Zack's been burned by a past relationship so he's been wary of relationships since then but meeting Quinn and being exposed to her kindness and affection quickly shows him that his heart is safe with her. Their connection was undeniable and Quinn was the perfect counterpart for him.

Their story was about healing, opening up to an honest and healthy relationship and had almost no drama (between the MCs). There also isn't a 3rd act break up!

Overall a good read with two likable characters but the writing style and pacing of the story did take a little getting used to. If you like an easy going romance, a smidge of angst and lowkey open door spice and a hero with a dominant streak, I would definitely recommend this one.

[“There’s something about her that betrays her radiant exterior, and the demons living inside of me are clawing at my skin with the desperate desire to discover what shadows she has lurking beneath her bright surface”]

Finding Haven was my first from Kay Thorne.

I was interested in this story based on the tropes, and I do have some feelings about the story.
First, the prologue – This prologue hit me like a freight train and was unexpected. I didn’t know after reading the prologue if I was going to continue reading, because of how dark and heavy it hit. There was no warning based on the tropes that the story was going to start or hit me the way it did. Mind you, what happens to Zach in the prologue can be reality in my future at any given moment, so I think that’s why it hit me the way it did.

Honestly, I went back to the blurb (which I never read) to remind myself what I actually signed up for before moving along to read this story.

The rest of this story is SO DIFFERENT from the way it started. The start of the book got my heart pumping, where the rest of the story had my heart going at a steady pace. The story was a good, easy read with a HEA. It wasn’t the wild ride it started off as – it had type 1 diabetic rep which is a first for me, and I loved how Kay incorporated this.

If you’re into age-gap romances, with a plus size FMC looking to build confidence and a man that offers that up, this one could be for you.

What to expect:
Grumpy/sunshine
Cam girl x subscriber
Type 1 Diabetic Rep
Tortured Hero

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of Finding Haven, and I am providing my honest review. Thank you, Kay Thorne and Luna Literary Management, for the opportunity.

This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone novel.

The opening prologue pulls you in immediately and guts you. You learn quickly why our MMC, Zack Mercer, is the way he is. The reset his life after tragedy, he moves away from everyone and everything he knows. He begins to work his private security job at the hotel but also is pulled into a secret organization that sets out to rid the Earth of the scum that decide to inhabit it. Including the guy that tries to date drug the beautiful blonde sitting in the restaurant at the hotel. Thank goodness Zack takes the trash out.

Quinn is struggling to make ends meet because LIFE and really trying to find her way in the world. Her bestie tells her to set up a Frisk account and start posting some of her beautiful content of herself. She has a great group in her boudoir group so she can take the same type of photos of herself & post them to her account. Little does she know, the dark broody man from the bar that saved her, has also found her Frisk account.

The push and pull between these two until they figure each other’s identities is really good. And then the spice gets spicy! I loved watching their relationship grow and the fact that Quinn has someone to take care of her and Zack can finally quiet those nightmares that have haunted him for 5 years really adds to the sweetness factor of this book.

This a great story and an easy book to read and no book hangover. And I cannot wait to read the first book in the series.

Thank you to Luna Literary PR and author Kay Thorne for the ARC opportunity.

Peace ☮️ and Love ❤️ my friends - enjoy the read!
