“Don’t you realize? There is no breaking a Stormfury.”
Raynin is supposed to be in her final year at the academy. Instead, she’s been sent to the Aarga with her mentor to fight a mysterious illness that’s tearing through the population. No one, not even the court’s best healers, can figure it out. Long shifts. No sleep. No answers. The bodies are piling up.
As if that's not enough, strange dreams have begun to plague her— white hair, burning sand, a truth hovering in the fringes of her consciousness. When she bumps into a handsome southern stranger at a bar, she's at her wits end. There's something about the man that sets her on edge. She doesn't think, she she pulls a knife on him.
Meanwhile, in the Blackwoods, Theia and the others are regrouping. Healing. Strategizing. Bringing down the rebel leader is going to take an army, and it’s not like she can just waltz into the king’s palace and demand one.
Except, she may not have a choice. The war has begun. The flames are growing. And everything— loyalty, honor, love— will be put to the test.
The Growing Flame is the second installment in the Heirs of War series.

A very solid continuation of the story, a bit Deus ex machina, but you know... the gods and stuff, so it kind of makes sense. The new characters are a nice addition, a couple of nicely put twists. I am very curious about everybody´s story lines, so lets hope for the next book.
Why did I do this to myself? I have to wait to at least 2026?! I really need to stop reading books in trilogies that are unfnished( I’m literally about to read another one after this). But wow, the second book in “An Heirs of War” trilogy is nothing short of jaw dropping and engaging. I read through it so fast because it was so enthralling. There were a lot of twists I wasn’t expecting. Nikki Stavros definitely knows how to keep you on your toes, wanting more.
I probably should have read the first book again. I did find myself having to look up things because it had been so long since I read Left to Burn. Not rereading it didn’t have too dramatic of an effect, but I’d recommend going back and rereading if it’s been a while.
WHHHYYYYY? Let me go throw myself off this damn cliffhanger ending uuuugggghhhhhhhh!!! I knew it, knew it! There was way too much building up going on and not enough book left for this all to come to a resolution. *face palm* *cried in having to wait until 2026* Ok, about the book. It was good and solid, I enjoyed the ride for sure. The introduction of the new characters were good and I can see how we needed them to flesh out the story. I still don’t love them as much as Sere and Theia but that’s just because we had a whole book to get to know those two previously. Fray is an absolute bastard and I can not wait to see how he meets his demise but damn I know the author is gonna put us through it before we get to see him suffer especially with how she left Theia. I’ll definitely be buying the physical copy of this book to go along with my shelf trophy of the first one. Now to impatiently wait for the next book.
