Six months after the fact, Reece is standing trial for the "murder" of Headmaster Charles Eldritch. Aurelia has been confiscated, and as for his friends...they've been in better shape. Then there's the small matter of The Heron's new Aureliod Fleet, which is leading a preemptive strike against The Kreft and the unsuspecting humans under their control. In a war that doesn't seem to have a place for the crew of The Aurelia, Reece and his friends are faced with a choice: stay together, or divide and hunt the mythical weapon that might be the key to destroying the Kreft for good.
COURTNEY GRACE POWERS has been telling stories since she was six years old, sometimes with music, sometimes with costumes, sometimes with photos and art…but always with her first love, the written word. She believes ferociously that Storytellers of every medium are the sculptors of history, with powers that should be leveraged for good. A Dungeon Master, Rebel Legion member, and new mom, she lives with the Kanan to her Hera and in the middle of Ohio cornfields.
This definitely was a novel where everything from the first two came together. Again, like in the Airship Aurelia, parts felt like they dragged a bit. But overall it was engaging. The new characters from the last book were fleshed out more and added new dynamics. I thought the blossoming relationship, though I saw it building, was adorable when it finally came together. Owon's character was intriguing and while I was unsure in The second book, I was happy the author included him throughout the novels. The twists and mysteries and revelations were good (though one I felt took unrealistically too long to be acknowledged, since I knew immediately.) Again a smattering of grammatical errors but not bad at all for being self-published.
The last 100 pages alone made this 5 stars for me. I stayed up too late because I knew I couldn't sleep without knowing how it'd all end. I was definitely emotionally invested in the climax. Unqiue universe and diverse characters throughout. It has been an enjoyable ride capt'n.
