I fear that this missed the mark completely. This entire book is about Eli. I absolutely HATE him. I don’t care about him or his character or any of that at all. I feel like we were severely cheated on this last book. We needed a full book of Caly and Mendax. Not stupid ass Eli. Nothing about this was interesting at all. I didn’t like any of it. I read the first 5 chapters before skimming the rest of the book. I am embarrassed to admit that I pre ordered this book. I don’t even have the physical copy yet and I’ve already completely written it off. What a waste of 26 bucks. I am just gutted about how this whole story went. Book 1 is one of my all time favorite books. Read it twice in the span of a couple months. Had personalized art commissioned that I paid a lot for. Just for it to turn out so shitty. Such a disappointment. I still do like this author but I wish I knew what the hell she was thinking with this book. What a let down.

Interested in Mendax and Cal and how their relationship progresses? How she does with Eli's powers? How they rule or unite the realms? You will be disappointed. They get a HEA, but they feel like an after thought.
It's just 90% Eli whining through the least climactic trials.
Needed an editor. Both for some really weird errors that were persistent in the KU ebook (can't speak to if they're present in the physical copy) and a few inconsistencies in content. But in the interest of keeping this spoiler free, I won't break that down.

Well… that was disappointing.
I hate being that reader, but here I am, clutching my shattered expectations like a sad little bookworm. It physically pains me to give this book a low rating. This series has been one of my absolute favorites. I was obsessed, emotionally attached, probably a little unwell, and I was ready for this finale to wreck me in the best way. But this final installment? Felt like someone swapped my five-star meal with plain toast and forgot the butter.
It was predictable. Underwhelming. Rushed like it had somewhere better to be. And worst of all? We got maybe five minutes of Mendax and Caly screentime. Excuse me? They carried the emotional weight of this series on their backs, and now they’re background extras? Make it make sense.
And while I do love Eli (truly, my sweet chaotic boy), the way the story disconnected from the original core characters made it feel like I was reading a spinoff instead of a grand finale. I kept thinking, “Did I miss something?” Spoiler: I didn’t. We just fast-forwarded through pivotal moments like they were minor inconveniences. Major life events happened at the speed of light, with zero time to process.
Honestly, it felt like watching a movie trailer where all the good parts were missing, and I’m stuck wondering what could’ve been. This had the potential to go down as one of my all-time favorite series, but instead? It pulled a full nose dive off the top shelf and landed somewhere near “books I pretend ended earlier.”

What the hell happened, the only reason I didn't dnf this was I kept praying it would improve. Book one and book four are like night and day. This was like a farcical comedy sketch and Eli had the starring role.
Look the only reason I finished this series is Mendax even Caly at times I found incredibly irritating he's my main man and I'd assumed this final book would be focused on them but it isn't. This is the Eli show and frankly, he's just not that charismatic or interesting. We did get glimpses of Mendax and Caly but they were incredibly brief, if you blinked you'd have missed them. Where were all of the missing parts of Mendax and Caly, in the background all the interesting stuff was occurring with them whilst we focused on boring wetwipe Eli. I'm pissed and disappointed and feel robbed.
How did that dark delicious corker of a first book descend into the rest of the series, I don't get it, it doesn't even feel like it's written by the same person. Maybe it's on me not looking into what this final book entailed. I just assumed it would continue with Mendax and Caly as Eli was mainly a side character. I truly feel like Anna and Eli robbed them of their HEA. I don't even feel like I got any real closure on them as book three ended so abruptly. I also preordered the whole series based on reading book one and loving it. Oh, and I waited to read them all together as well as preordering the arcane special edition 🙈 and if I'm honest I only ended up liking book one, bloody gutted.

It was still fun to be in this world, but definitely lost a lot of its spark by switching out of Caly being the main focus, I did love the updates we got from them, but found the overall storyline a little dry

It pains me to give such a low review. I adored book 1-3. 3 especially. But what the heck was she thinking with this final book?! We got no ending to Cals and Mendaxs relationship, didn’t see the wedding or them finding out they’re pregnant, Mendaddy being a daddy?!! Seriously?! Nothing on Tarani or her kingdom no longer existing, nothing on joining both kingdoms together? I don’t dislike Eli but I truly don’t see the need for the entire book that initially focused on Cal and Mendaxs relationship to end on Eli and his struggles. That could have been a novella or a spin off. I feel so robbed of the ending and seeing who the main character became now that they’re not battling the fates. What a mess. And I’m sorry but Adrianna’s entire character just sucked. And I feel crappy writing this review because I’m absolutely obsessed with books 1-3 and even bought physical copies which I rarely do.

While I did enjoy Eli’s journey this story was always about Caly and Mendax and they were basically written off. The end of book three did not feel like a proper ending to their story then you fast forward through anything that could have been interesting and all but leave them out of the book. So much of the things that they say happened I would have loved to read about. Plus at the very least you could have done another fast forward epilogue with everyone reunited. I was looking forward to the final book in the series but it was a huge let down.

Oh boy... This series had a million different problems, but I think the biggest one is that the author just can't do subtlety.
Characters don't just argue and get angry, they have to shout at the top of their lungs, even when there are other people around.
Characters can't just laugh at something funny, they have to have break down in tear filled laughter for a whole page.
Eli and Cal can't just organically figure out that they work better as friends. No, Eli has to *tell her* in one of the most awkward scenes in the entire series that he's not in love with her anymore.
Mendax can't just want Cal. No, he has to be obsessed to the point where he is "always hard for her" and can't hold back.
Mendax and Eli can't just have a petty argument. No, they have to physically fight, even when Cal tries to stop them. And Mendax keeps trying to kill Eli despite knowing that Cal will die too.
Nothing in this series is hinted at. There is no subtext. There is no foreshadowing. What you see is what you get, and it is supremely and infuriatingly boring as a reader. A good example in this book is when Anna is trying to steal Eli's necklace. Eli is in a trance from her beauty, which she's supposed to be using to distract him, but he's still conscious enough to spell it out to the reader that she's trying to steal the necklace. The author writes it as, "Oh no she's trying to steal my necklace, but oh my god she's so pretty." Like, what was stopping her from making it more interesting and having it be a shock to the reader as well? Why not have Eli notice that she graced the necklace, or that she paid special attention to the back of his neck, or that she distracted him any time he paid attention to her fingers at his neck? This isn't even nitpicking, this is just Writing 101. Show, don't tell. The fact that this author was just incapable of showing anything and always had to tell was so infuriating.
Also, the humour and sex scenes are so bad. And every character is extremely childish, but especially Cal and Mendax, the latter of whom has the emotional regulation of a fucking toddler.
If I could give this zero stars, I would.

Loved this book. Especially how the author brought Anna in the story more. She was so mysterious in the other novels and was necessary to finish up her story! Caly and her man story was tear worthy and so sad. Been reading and anticipating this ending for years so finishing it just feels surreal honestly. I can’t wait to see what Jeaneane has for us readers in the future. March 2026 is so long for the next book 😫 but I understand to book the anticipation around it. The secret garden concept is genius. I have too read the classic before the re imagined book comes out!!!!

Strictly because of the chapters we get with Caly and the fact that, for all intent’s and purposes, this did “wrap everything up.”
I had to start taking notes early on because I was getting so irritated and I knew I’d miss stuff if I didn’t, so here’s that:
- Eli immediately lusting after his bff’s sister
- “Backside hole / back exit / back hole” how about you stab me in my back exit
- Writing feels so juvenile (and I think this is true throughout the books tbh but because the vibes were so good that I didn’t mind but now that the vibes are ass I do mind)
- Fae aging, how tf do fae age more slowly and Eli manages to be an accomplished warrior ??
- Bro came in 5 seconds
- How was he in love with caly but apparently fucking other people ??
- Omg what if mendax fucked Anna 💀 no I don’t think he would
- I don’t need a play by play of everything that happened in previous books ffs
- What I’d really like is to know what tf happened to Caly and Mendax, I wanna see him propose, the wedding, how they united the kingdoms and the fallen fae
- Caly and Eli’s “tie”… I am so over it and I’m on chapter 8. Stfu already. Idc and after skipping over everything that caly and mendax did after leaving the fates, we finally get a promising sex scene and it’s interrupted by fuckass Eli
- I seriously don’t even want to finish this book
- I’m supposed to take Eli seriously when his knees are in his arm pits and he’s on a pony?
- These books feel like they’re written with no overarching plan, like the author starts writing and lets the vibes take them wherever (and not necessarily anywhere good)

- Omg BUT THEN when it’s convenient they immediately admit they were wrong
- Idk if I’ve mentioned this before but I’m feeling critical so I will now: I hate that they use decidedly American human slang and ways of speaking. Like “asshat,” and it REALLY bothers me that they say “dad”
- I am so sick of Eli obsessing over Anna, it’s past the point of cringe tbh
- Way to ruin the vibe, Mr can’t-take-no-for-an-answer
- Who gave this dude the audacity fr

Maybe the bodies they were in, they were bring shown that they should t envy other people but I don’t get the dancing at all. And then same with fraud, like that don’t make no sense to me
- Update: I looked it up, it means listlessness, like not being concerned with your place in the world
- Okay so if Bexley was the only one who struggles with this sin, this tier made sense
- I hate Eli and I hate Anna

- A decade?? Time has got to pass differently in the fae realm, did I miss a lesson in a previous book?
- Lust made sense
- Chapter 18 is the epilogue we deserved

- Again, a decision that seems to come from out of the blue. I never understand why there can’t be some like, “oh what if I stayed?” It’s always being super adamant and then just *snap* changed my mind
Genuinely, I’m never reading this book ever again. I hated every minute of this. This could’ve been an email. The shit I did care to see (aka Caly and Mendax) was mostly mentioned in passing, like the marriage, the baby, taking over the Seelie castle, helping the Fallen Fae, seeing more of Tarani, seeing Ten after she was born. I really did not care enough about Eli for him to have his own fkn book. We couldn’t have done a multiple POV ??
And another thing: WHERE TF IS ALISTAIR ⁉️ and there’s a few things I asked about in my book 3 review that are just 💨 and there’s all this discourse about Zef but nothing comes of it?? Like does he actually suck? Because I’m really confused about that… and if so, does Caly say piss off?

Let me start by saying I love this series, but I feel a little cheated out of Caly and Mendax’s HEA. I do love Eli, he’s hilarious, and I’m glad he got his HEA
This book was entertaining, and I did enjoy it. The side characters as always were fantastic. I love that Eli was still able to communicate with Cal and Mendax. His witty personality and humor really carried this book.
However, I wish this was reversed. I wanted to see how Cal and Mendax unite the kingdoms, having a family, all the little crazy details of Mendax becoming a dad, Cals research lab etc. Tarani and the fallen. Then getting Eli’s POV through the bond. I feel like this book could have made for an amazing spin off, with more of Anna/Khaos backstory and her childhood in the underworld. I didn’t feel a connection to her, and it was very insta love/lust all while they just sort of kept fighting through all the levels and then all of a sudden were fine. It felt a little rushed in my opinion.
This was absolutely still an enjoyable read, just not what I thought it was going to be. I am so grateful to Bloom Books and Jeneane O’Riley for the opportunity to read this pre-release in exchange for my honest review

I feel I’m on the opposite side of this book but I felt it wrapped the story up nicely. Yes, you get mainly Eli in it but you needed to see how he had his ending. I enjoyed this whole series and think you should have on your TBR. It’s an easy magic system and a humorous series.

high stakes trials x fated mates x underworld
Okay maybe the disappointment in the book is my fault? This plot was completely unexpected and different than what I imagined and that could have been why I wasn’t happy with how it went.
We spent so much time with certain characters that only having a couple chapters for them and missing so many important moments felt distracting and disappointing. I found myself uninterested in the main part of the plot bc I was waiting for other chapters.
It’s very possible that I would have liked it more if I read the back of the book first but I jumped right in.
Would I recommend this series? Yes-ish. It was a wild ride and I enjoyed it but the ending wasn’t what I expected.

I am building the biggest mental wall between this book and the rest of the series because genuinely, what the hell was that?
The one star is purely for my babies, Walter and Bexley. They were the only redeemable things about this book.
Now, I liked Eli fine in the other books but this one completely ruined him for me. He has the worst hero/savior complex and is absolutely insufferable for it. His inner monologue is constantly complaining about having to always save everybody and crying about how no one ever saves him. He literally never lets anyone forget that he’s better than them, it was so hard to read.
Before I read the synopsis for this book I thought that Adrianna (Caly’s sister) would still be a child when Eli found her. I was wrong and that’s fine but the fact that Eli also thought Adrianna was gonna be a tiny child makes him thinking she’s hot so gross. If his inner monologue didn’t mention how he thought she was going to be an “innocent child” and then immediately follow it up with thinking how hot she is, like a million times, then it would have been fine. He also constantly compared Adrianna to Caly by saying he assumed she would be the “sweet, innocent, and gentle sister” and then proceeds to think about how attractive she is.

I wish there weren’t any chapters from Caly’s pov at all. That would have been better than what there was. That was not the Caly that I knew from the first 3 books. I abhor the pregnancy trope and Caly having suicidal ideation while saying she never wanted to be a mom, was the cherry on top. The amount of times she referred to the baby as a “fetus” was so uncomfortable. There was no reason to write her as being pregnant.
I love a good/dark spice scene but these were so uncomfortable to read. Specially chapter 14 when Caly kills someone to let off steam because Mendax is pissing her off (mind you she’s literally pregnant and endangering her child by doing that). After she kills the guy Mendax shows up and they proceed to have a spice scene in the alley, next to the dead guys skeleton. Which is gross but whatever, UNTIL Caly puts the dead guys bone INSIDE (I will not elaborate on where because I think you know).

What in the humerus bone did I just read? I was very disappointed that we didn’t really get an ending to Cal and Maddox. I felt like this book was rushed with it being Eli’s story.

Nooo this can’t be it?! I feel so incomplete and sad it’s the end of this series. I need MORE! I will say I was shocked that majority of this book is written in Eli’s POV and barely any from Caly. I think that Caly and Mendax could’ve easily had one more book of them growing their love and family together. Especially running both kingdoms united. I am glad though that we got closure and clarity on Eli, Walter, and Anna’s life, being happy and together as friends.
Overall I absolutely loved this series and it will forever hold a place in my heart. What a beautiful and fun way to end the series. With trials, banter, and one bed tropes. Can’t wait to see what more Jeneane has in store for us 💚

I’m not sure how I imagined this series ending, but I’m happy to say that Jeneane did a fabulous job wrapping it up!
I love how this story had a little bit of every character, and that we still got glimpses into mendax and cal’s life. Although, the ending seemed a bit weird and a tad bit rushed. I also wanted a bit more tension between the Elli and Anna…. I felt like there wasn’t enough tension and build up between them, but that could just be me….
Either way, a great end to the series, I’m going to miss it!

I loved this book, the connection to Mendax and Callie throughout the book really saved it for me because truthfully I have a love/hate relationship with Eli, (mostly dislike truthfully) as he truthfully is just so arrogant and I still don’t think he passed them truthfully but anyways. I LOVED Callie’s sister! She was so cute and fun! Will forever love this series :’)

Ngl it was a disappointing end. Caly’s living the good life, imo she didn’t deserve it & Anna was a clone of Caly in the sense that the sisters were childish, selfish, conniving & basically an all around f**king annoying shitbags!
It felt like after what happened to Eli in book 3 everyone in the living world just forgot about him & what he did for them to get the life they’re now living. There were loads of funny moments but I found it was a distraction to how sad Eli’s life became.
The attraction between Eli & Anna came off very surface level. The storyline got very repetitive & just lagged so bad from middle to end. The last 2 chapters, including the epilogue, felt rushed, ngl I was relieved the story was ending faster than I thought cause by then I was just over it all.

OK- as someone who has read this entire series (some of the books multiple times) - what was this? 😭
The first book was AMAZING. The PLOT TWIST?!?!! Come ON that was EVERYTHING!! I have no idea how we got to this book though. Throughout this series I feel like the author lost her passion for writing about these characters. I understand we wanted to give Eli (absolutely hate that guy) his moment in the sun (pun intended), but the tier challenges didn’t match their sin (not to mention they weren’t even hard) , the plot “twists” were predictable (I shouldn’t be able to guess the ending of a book -in this series especially), and it all felt very “I don’t want to write this but the people want it so here let’s just do it”. His attitude throughout the whole book made me SO mad, his “holier than thou” complex set me off, and his character lacked so much depth. He was very cringey and unlikable. (And I’m sorry but his obsessive fetish for the Floricorn was weird). The convenience of his “character development” wasn’t a character development. It was pure plot convenience (as was most of the book).
Caly and Mendax were so wonderful and I loved their dynamic throughout the series. They are the only reason I’m giving it a 2 star. They have those stars. However, they were done DIRTY in this book. To immediately just have all that exposition wrapped up in a pregnancy and marriage IMMEDIATELY?! No. My girl went through ALL THAT and you hit her with the pregnancy trope?! No. Be so for real. They worked too hard and went through too much to be barely a thought (literally) in this book. And the few chapters they did have were just so not it. Also, the time jumping irritated me to no end. There were giant “omg this is important” moments with NO context, no build up, no details, just “hey you know that thing that never could be done??? Yeah we did it. Oh , and your sister that hated everyone? Yeah she’s chill. Also, we named the realm after you”. IM SORRY?!?!? We went through too much for this to be how we ended things.
I felt like this book had so much potential. We added characters , we had this really .. interesting .. time difference (that I personally felt was sincerely for just wrapping up Caly and Mendax so she wouldn’t have to write about them) , and a lot of things were laid out and just left. What was the point of telling us about all the halls and corridors in Eromreven and other areas ? We don’t even get to spend enough time there to care. Khaos was built up for so long, and the poor man didn’t even get to have any development. Also - some of the writing was just down right foul. I have read a LOT of romance, but I skipped over so much of this book. It was not dark like the previous books in this series, it was just weird and cringe. And that says a lot, because my tolerance is pretty high.
TLDR: This book feels like it was only made out of necessity. Let’s just pretend the third was the last one and Eli dies and that’s it. I had to force myself to finish the book.
Also: We spent too long in the beginning talking about this guy’s junk.. Just 😬😬😬

There’s always a battle between good and evil. What’s pure and what’s not. Light versus dark. Little did Eli know was that his sacrifice was going to doomed him to an eternity of the worst fate a Seelie Fae could think of, which was being amongst the Unseelie Fae. His sacrifice consisted in one mission alone and that was to go to the Elysian Fields and drag Anna with him so she could get to Moira. Turns out his journey was more of an eye opener for him, but will he let go of his pride; the idea of being a hero always? Will he understand the true meaning of his quest or will he ceased to exist in the pits of Tartarus? This was a very meaningful story if you think about it in the aspect of life itself. I really enjoyed the meaning and the story. I hope you do too.

Uh Curveball? I feel unfulfilled.
So I wanted to finish this series out because I enjoyed book 1&2, mind you not masterpieces but I enjoyed them. Book 3 felt like it went no where but at least it had banter between Cal, Mendex and Eli…
but this book? I mean it’s 97% Eli and mind you it’s not that, that really irks me it’s that Cal & Mendex are wrapped up in the background like we didn’t start this series with them. Sure Eli had a few chapters here and there but to make a pivotal shift and write from his POV for the entirety of this book?!? And not to mention I didn’t really feel like I needed to explore Tartarus with Eli. I don’t know, I’m disappointed.

So I'm genuinely not sure if Jeneane actually wrote this book because it's written so poorly compared to the last 3 installments and while the story was kind of on an overall downward spiral of quality since book 2, this one really was just the bottom of the barrel. I had to read it to finish out the series, I've committed FOUR BOOKS to this woman, but what the HELLY was all of that? Truly, I've read fanfiction of much better quality. What the fuck. This book should be called "Did You Want It?" because it's a fucking hard no from me, queen. I wanted NONE of that.

I soldiered on with the 4th book as it happened to come out shortly after I had finished the 3rd book. On par with its basic and immature writing style, thought it might continue with Caly & Mendax’s story but switched to Eli’s journey. Glad my journey is over with this series as I can no longer take it!!
