Wrapped Up with the Three Scrooges

Rate this book
Finding out my boyfriend is stuffing someone else's turkey isn't the greatest way to start out the holidays, especially when he signs my paychecks, and I live with him.

With no other choice but to move out and quit my job, I'm forced to exist on ramen and stay in a cheap motel while I figure out my life.

Just when it's starting to look like Santa didn't read my letters, I land a seasonal job at Wrap It Up, where the holiday spirit is sorely lacking.

It's easy to see why when the three owners are known as the Three Scrooges. Hot, rich, and grumpy will only get them coal in their stockings unless they can turn staff morale around.

But when they help me spread more than just Christmas cheer, I'm left wondering if getting wrapped up with them will be the gift that keeps on giving... or the biggest holiday disaster of my life.

Wrapped Up with the Three Scrooges is a spicy romantic comedy where she doesn't choose. It's full of sugar and spice and is for mature listeners.

1st reading: Well written from the perspective of flowing prose, good grammar and punctuation, and few typos. However, the plot is predictable, and the characterizations are barely more than two dimensional. There are subplots, but they're superficial.
In fact, the entire thing is superficial. If asked to describe any of the four main characters, all I'd be able to tell you is that the three men (Ronan, Levi, and Max) are "attractive" and "tall." Emery, the FMC is "attractive" and apparently has hair long enough that needs to be moved out of the way of a zipper. That's it. There are character traits - Emery is cheerful, Ronan is a perfectionist and an authoritarian, Levi is a charmer, Max is... he likes to cook and he can dance. *shrug* Like I said, it's all a bit two-dimensional. There's not an awful lot of conflict; Emery upsets Ronan's sense of order when she first arrives at the guy's workplace, Emery has lost everything in a recent breakup and is at first reluctant to accept charity, and there's a run-in with Levi's mother at a party where the existence of the four's polyamorous relationship is hidden, which ruffles people's feathers. But the latter is resolved over the course of an evening. *yawn*
It didn't offend, but then it didn't really do much of anything at all. The spicy scenes weren't even all that spicy. (I've seen way better.) I didn't hate it, but it was disappointing.

Audiobook. Library. 3.5 rounded up. I really enjoy CJ Bloom as a narrator. This was Christmas-y and spicy and not too angsty, perfect Smutmas background read while baking or wrapping.

Not feeling the love.

I’m conflicted about this book. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t particularly enjoy it either. The client’s story was mildly interesting, but the romance was just okay. It didn’t leave much of an impact. Overall, I found the story dull.

The plot hinted at certain developments that were never fully realized, and what did unfold felt predictable. The relationships between the characters didn’t have the depth I was hoping for, making it hard to connect.

This is a new-to-me author, and while I wouldn’t rule out reading more of their work in the future, I’m not interested in reading the other book mentioned, whether it’s part of this series or something similar. It just didn’t spark enough interest for me to continue exploring their writing.

The audio is the way to go for this one - CJ Bloom did a great job with his sweet and steamy voice. A twist on a Christmas Carol to say the least 😉 As steamy as this was with cute and wholesome elements, some of the poly scenes felt clumsy and awkward. If you want something cute and steamy this holiday season - give this a spin 🎄

This was a FANTASTIC Christmas romance.

It starts off when Emery prepares a Thanksgiving meal for her and her fiancé and takes it into the office where they work since he had to put in some extra time. It ended up that time was inside of an intern.

She ends up losing everything. Her home, her job, most of her stuff... she started living on Ramen in a coffee pot while living in a sketchy motel alongside a paranoid conspiracy theorist.

After applying to nearly every job in the city, a place caught her eye that had Christmas decorations beautifully set up. She saw a help wanted sign, and that was all it took to change her life. Her joy and love of Christmas really turned things around for "Wrap It Up" and The Three Scrooges who ran it.

This book is funny, sweet, heartwarming, and everything you could possibly want in a Christmas romance novel. There's no choosing for the FMC, and the guys are all about her. I HIGHLY recommend this book for everyone who loves the holiday season and warm, bubbly feelings!

I wasn’t expecting this to be some literary gold and it did start off strong. But it lost it about halfway. It felt like Tessa Bailey’s Happenstance (one of my top RH romcoms) but then it just jumps to insta lust and didn’t have much plot. Even the smut was pretty meh. There were some scenes that physically made 0 sense. I was hoping for a Lily Gold like sorry but I think it was just too short it never got off the ground.

This was honestly really sweet. The spice was quick and frequent once it started but it still felt wholesome and sweet so it was the perfect Christmas reverse harem in my opinion.

Not my cup of tea.

I didn't find Emery funny at all. This is a me thing though. Obviously for the purpose of the plot she's making fun at everything in front of the owners. I don't see how anyone desperate for a job would behave this way.

On a completely personal level I found her small mindedness annoying. Running a business isn't easy. For the service they provide, it has to be perfect to be taken as a serious business model. I can only imagine how many people they hired before who treated it like a joke. When businesses close down it's not really the minimum wage jokester that suffers the backlash.

This was a cute VERY Christmasy why-choose romance with a little spice, enjoyable characters, and a happy ever after. The writing was also good and it flowed well which made for easy reading. However, while I liked the book and finished reading it, I didn’t love it and it didn’t keep me fully engaged, by that I mean, I didn’t struggled to put it down and I wasn’t rushing back to pick it up.

A few of the issues that I personally had with the book that led to the rating I gave it are :
- descriptions; there really wasn’t a whole lot of descriptive details in this book. If you asked me to describe what the characters looked like all I could tell you is that they were tall and attractive, and that she was good looking with brown hair. There was really nothing that set them apart. Also, I found that I struggled to visualize other areas of this book due to the same sort of lack of description.
- while I don’t like unnecessary angst, I usually like a little bit of conflict in the story, and there was very little minor conflict in the book that was solved right away, which seemed a little unrealistic for four people navigating a polyamorous relationship who I’ve never done so before. For me a little bit of angst adds to the depth of the book.
- the ex should have got what was coming to him. I would’ve loved to see a scene somewhere where they ran into him altogether, like at the New Year’s party that was mentioned but you never saw, where he got put in his place and got his dues for his actions and taking her stuff.
- the romance/passion: it was quick like/love and you got your steamy moments as well as your cutesy moments, but I didn’t feel the depth or believability that pulled you into those scenes and really made you connect and get invested in the romance.

Again, my review is based strictly on my personal preference of what I look for in a romance. I think there are a lot of people who would really enjoy this and I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted cute holiday romance that’s quick easy readreading with a little bit of “fun” times mixed in. 🎄🎁❤️

Emery's seasonal gig at a company that wraps and ships gifts is only supposed to be a patch to help her get on her feet. Discovering her coworker and boyfriend cheating, she's left without a job or much to speak of. What she didn't expect was to get swept off those feet and cared for by three very different men who run the company. Luckily for her, these best friends know how to share.

"Wrapped Up with the Three Scrooges" pairs a sugar cookie perky sweetheart with a punny sense of humor with every opportunity of spice it can take. The result is something that will probably give someone holiday cheer, but was just not to my taste. It had it's moments, I found a few things cheeky, but it had its fair amount of stylistic choices that just didn't agree with me.

There are several passages with repetitive phrases and thoughts that made it seem like it didn't have the strongest editing. With the exception of the 'Grinch' friend, I really felt the other two despite having their own backstories and hobbies, blended together in my head. I'm not one to dive into a book for the steamy scenes, so I have to say that the tone of those parts being unappealing may be a personal opinion.

While I appreciated that there were late-book conversations about being communicative, trust, and check ins I think there could have been more touching upon consent in some earlier scenes. Personally one character's excessive insistence that Emery let him take care of her bordered on excessive to the point where it was giving me all the red flags despite knowing this was a romance. Though you only have so many pages to work with, there's a whole lot of commitment and near insta-love for my taste given the time frame. But I am a slow-burn type of gal.

Overall this was far from the worst thing I'd ever gone though. It just didn't spark my my holiday spirits as I had hoped.

Sometimes you just need the right person to come bring some holiday spirit.

The last thing Emery expected to find on Thanksgiving was her boyfriend of two years cheating on her. Now she's without a home and job and just in time for the holidays. The terrible long-term motel is barely clean, and most places are 'going a different direction' when she applies. That is, until she finds a gift-wrapping service hiring for the season. Only, it's run by three grumps who have no Christmas spirit. Good think Emery's there to bring some fun. Levi's the first to break when he learns about her circumstances, Ronan all but demands she move into their mother-in-law apartment, and Max allows Emery to bring Christmas decorations into not only their business, but also their home. But the holidays are fast approaching, so what does that mean for the four of them?

Emery and her men get their happy ending in this standalone book.

For how comfortable the guys were sharing, I was surprised they hadn't done it before. Or shared each other. I do wonder, if off page, there was more going on that was hinted at at Levi's mother's Christmas party. Or if they really were just friends. I loved how much Emery saw boundaries in people but also knew when she could test them a bit as was evident with her co-worker who taught her the basics on her first day. I would have loved a look a little further into the future to see how they navigated more of a family and if they decided to have kids together and what that looked like!

Emery, Ronan, Levi and Max's story has so much to it! This is a funny, spicy, heartwarming read.

Emery finds her boyfriend cheating on her with his intern after she makes him a whole Thanksgiving dinner and brings it to his office. She's now got no place to stay and no job. She only has a little bit of money and goes out to find a job. She finds Wrap It Up's shop and walks in to apply. She's hired! But all her Christmas spirit causes havoc in the wrapping warehouse. Ronan, Levi and Max are opposed to their warehouse being full of anything but undistracted workers. Yet they are each intrigued by Emery. Levi is first to help her in her havoc ridden life and he encourages his bff's to spend time with her as well. Bit by bit, the Three Scrooges get to know Emery and she gets to know them.

This is a heartwarming polyamorous story of how these three men learn how to embrace their Christmas Spirit with a bit of help from a woman who likes to shake things up and pushes them to their limits.

This story had me going from laughing to crying and even missing some traditions of my own. 100% recommend the read.

✔️holiday romance
✔️MFMM why choose romance
✔️grumpy x sunshine
✔️workplace
✔️no breakup

This is a cute, spicy, low angst holiday read. I enjoyed it a great deal. While I agree with some other reviewers that the characters felt a tad bit shallow at times (giving any additional details about who they are as people and/or their pasts would have rectified that) I didn’t need it to be more than what it was, which is a quick spicy why choose romance with no major drama. I am just glad that each of the men had their own personalities; some authors of why choose romance don’t make their characters individuals and it bothers me, at that point just make it a MF romance.

The business that the three men own is unique/fun to read about, and the supporting characters added to the story in a positive way. It was fun to watch the three men get their Christmas spirit back and see the FMC’s growth as well. I just wish her ex was brought down in a more dramatic fashion but that is just because I enjoy watching karma take down terrible side characters in books 😂

Wrapped Up with the Three Scrooges by Layla Hartley Review.

⭐️ 4/5
🌶 3.5/5

This book was excellent. I also think, this is a debut book for Layla, if that is the case I can not wait to read her future endeavors.

This book follows Emery as she goes through and nasty break up and, well, unfortunately hits rock bottom. Emery looking for work in a pinch joins the team at a gift wrapping service company. The company is run by the three men coined the " Three Scrooges", Ronan, Levi and Max. Their work environment is sterile and cold, Emery not only infuses some warmth into the atmosphere at work but into the men's life, knocking down their walls and healing their Christmas Spirit along the way. The spice and falling for each other as they heal just goes hand in hand perfectly.
This book had me laughing and swooning along the way, no 3rd act break up either, which I absolutely loved.

Tropes:
• Grumpy - Sunshine
• Found Family
• Boss/Workplace

“Some gifts can’t be wrapped, and in this moment, I realized they were the best one of all.”
5✨
I devoured this book in less than 24 hours, and I regret nothing. I stumbled across it randomly on Amazon, and let me just say - I’m so glad I did. This story is the perfect mix of cozy, heartwarming holiday vibes, romance, and spice!

I went in with zero expectations, but I was blown away by how adorable (and spicy AF) this book turned out to be. The FMC’s mission? To thaw the icy hearts of three “Scrooge” MMCs. But were they really deserving of that title? Not in my opinion. As the story unraveled and we got to see the deeper sides of each character, I couldn’t help but adore them all.

This book has everything: workplace romance, grumpy x sunshine vibes, and a dash of holiday magic - all wrapped up in a unique MFMM dynamic. It’s such an entertaining and quick read, even at 300 pages. Highly recommend if you’re looking for some holiday heat and heart!

Book Review: Wrapped Up with the Three Scrooges: A Reverse Harem Romance (Kindle Edition)

I was pulled into this story pretty quickly, and by Chapter 2, I was already enjoying it. By Chapter 3, I was fully invested! The main character, a cheeky, sarcastic marketing professional, is hilarious and relatable. Her humor and wit kept me entertained throughout the book.

The whole concept of the store "Wrap It Up," the wrapping company, and all the clever (and steamy) analogies to sex were absolutely hysterical. The humor blended perfectly with the playful, flirty vibe of the story, making it a fun and steamy read.

While the plot was fairly predictable, it didn’t take away from the enjoyment. Sometimes, you just want a lighthearted, entertaining romance that delivers exactly what it promises—and this book does just that.

Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)
Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 (3.5/5)

If you’re looking for a funny, flirty, and steamy reverse harem romance, this one’s worth a try!

3.5 stars for sure. It was a fun, sweet, spicy RH that’s perfect for the holidays.

I actually really liked how different all the boys personalities were. Levi was fun and upbeat, Max quiet and contemplative and Ronan commanding and precise. I never got them mixed up or confused, which can be really hard in a RH audiobook.

Their plot was fairy typical. Emery comes to work for them after a bad break up and she’s Oh So Special (TM) that changes their whole perspective and makes them love Christmas again.

I liked that this book showed the more practical side of a poly relationship: the hard conversation of how open they’ll be and how they’ll refer to themselves to others and other semantics. It was refreshing for them to hit a snag, have feelings about it, but still talk about it like adults.

The spice was pretty good too. Definitely some dirty mouths on those boys.

Really glad I grabbed this one.

A Must-Read Reverse Harem Holiday Romance!

I just finished a delightful reverse harem holiday romance, and let me tell you, it was such a treat! The story was wonderfully written, pulling me in right from the start. I found myself loving all the characters instantly; they each brought something unique to the table. The chemistry between them was electric, and there was just the right amount of spice—hot enough to keep things interesting but not over the top. What I appreciated the most was that it’s a standalone book with a happily ever after (HEA), which is always a plus for me. This was my first time reading this author, but I can guarantee it won’t be the last. I'm already counting down the days until their next release in January! Highly recommended for any romance lover!

Spicy Christmas novella.
There is plot but off course with any good novella it’s definitely full of smut.
This is a why choose office romance with no sword crossing.
I loved the banter and charm this gave. The 3 mmcs are hardened to Christmas and don’t have joy in the holiday anymore. However that all changes at the hands of the FMC.
Shes a lover of Christmas and freshly single after leaving her douche of an ex, which in turn finds her needing a new job too. Shes damn near desperate when she finds a store hiring seasonal help and that’s when she gets more than just a new job but also a whirlwind of feelings, laughter, swooning and spice.
I didn’t want to put it down it just sucked me in. A great start to my smutmas.

Cute, festive, and spicy, but missing something

The FMC was a bit silly, to be honest, especially with almost losing her job (which she really needed) immediately after getting it. Like, just keep your mouth shut lol I was cringing

And the men were just generic. They had like two personality traits and were "hot," but that's about as deep as they went, which was sad.

I felt this lacked any kind of plot after she moved in. I was hoping she would run into her ex again or something at least to give it a flare of drama, but nothing happened. Even when they gave her car back? Like, how?

Anyways, ignoring the glaring issues, it was fun! Very spicy 🤭

Overall, if you're looking for a short, light-hearted read with a tonne of spice and no plot, this is likely the book for you!

Wrapped Up

I really enjoyed this one. The writing was really good and the characters were fun and engaging. The FMC was a little over the top with Christmas, but that was the idea being bringing the Christmas Spirit into their lives. I really liked how the story flowed and how Emery, Ronan, Levi, and Max all came together kind of organically, not like something the guys have done a bunch of times before. The spicy scenes were hot and there was still room for a lot of sweetness with no 3rd act drama to mess things up. I would totally recommend this book and look forward to reading others from this author.

cute and fun, low angst, quirky, safe and no mm (cause I like my rh to be rh). There were a couple of things like some timeline issues, a little one dimensional like I could hardly tell you anything about the characters, it didn't go into too much depth and choppy abrubtness to the writing a bit... some of the inner dialogue was a bit cheese but this was a cheesy romcom type of book so I'll take it because I did laugh and enjoy parts of it, would have liked some comeuppance for the ex and maybe a better epilogue and the spice was just ok could have been better and if this was an omegaverse, might have even gone up a star.

3.5 stars Cute Christmas story. Girl finds her boyfriend/boss cheating on her and quits/breaks up with him. Desperate for a job she walks into a gift wrapping store that is all about efficiency and less about joy. Three best friends who all live together but don’t like Christmas for different reasons. She brings Christmas spirit and joy into their lives and they help her heal from how her ex treated her. Some things felt added in because it was expected but it wasn’t resolved (how to do holidays with family in a polyamorous relationship) but cute over all. not closed door, some spice but it’s not the point of the book. 3 🌶️

Adorable Christmas spice

This was sweet as a spicy Christmas romance. There was initial head butting with major underlying attraction then sharing.
All for her no mm/swords crossing. No drama, no exes or rival chicks trying to ruin things. I will say it was 3.5/5 spice but more holiday sweetness than kink.
There wasn't a traditional climax so fell flat no break up or maybe this won't work climax, just they're all in then a year later epilogue HEA.
Overall it was festive and fun, something to read between the mafia romances and forbidden stepbrother taboo stuff.
Fun for winter time.
