Amy Porter has had a thing for her twin brother’s best friend since she was a teenager. After being considered “one of the boys” throughout her childhood, he’s the first guy to look at her and see past the tomboy she used to be. Unfortunately, he’s also completely off-limits. She does her best to move on as the years go by, but it’s not until her life takes a drastic turn that she finally accepts the fact that they aren't meant to be. However, as her world crumbles around her, Nate always seems to be close by to help her pick up the pieces. Nate Miller knows that Amy is the one girl he can never have. No matter how badly he wants her, he won’t risk destroying his friendship, or the promise he made to look out for her when her brother goes overseas with the Marines. As life continues to get in the way and keep them apart, the only logical choice is to give up… but giving up is the last thing he wants to do. With so many obstacles stacked up against them, can they find a way to make it work or are they headed for a breakdown?

I'm an avid reader and overall book lover. I love to write, and when a story popped into my head that I couldn't seem to ignore, I decided to take a shot at self-publishing with my first book, “This Time Around.” Now, much of my time is spent dreaming up new characters and planning for the next books that I hope to write. When I’m not writing, I’m usually curled up with my Kindle, reading book-after book-after book from all of my favorite authors (which is a very long list!)

"Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how good or how perfect it felt. One of the main rules of friendship is that your best friends' family members are always off-limits."

This is the first book that I've read by Author Ellie Grace and I'm so glad I came across it. Not only is Breakdown a "brother's best friend" book, which I love, but it was so sweet and left me feeling so good at the end. I typically do not look at the synopsis before reading a book, because I want to be completely surprised. I had no idea what to expect when reading Breakdown, and I was itching to find out what would happen next. It had me sucked in and I was able to finish it in a day. It's not very often that this happens to me.

Breakdown spans a period of 8 years, starting in senior year of high school. Amy and Dex are twin siblings. Dex is overbearing and so protective of Amy that she's never been on a date, let alone been kissed by a boy. His two best friends, Teddy and Nate, are like family and Dex has made it very clear that she is off limits. Amy and Nate have feelings for each other, but are never able to fully express them. Nate fears the repercussions from Dex, and due to his distance, Amy thinks that he has no interest.

The story is told through multiple point of views, so we are able to experience both Amy and Nate's true feelings for each other. Unfortunately, they run through quite a few hardships through the years, and periods of time where they do not see or speak to each other. After a devastating loss that affects them all, Amy, Dex and Nate are back together in the same town.

There is a constant push and pull between Amy and Nate, and the sexual tension at times was intense. I was very anxious to have them finally get together. It wasn't easy though, and even had me in tears at one point.

I loved ALL the characters in this story. Nate is so kind hearted and sweet, and even though Dex can be overbearing, he loves his sister and will do anything for her. Amy also has a tenant, Olivia, that rents out the first floor in her house and she is able to fit in with the group of friends easily. Both Dex and Olivia have their own demons, and I was also rooting for them to get together.

...and the epilogue - what can I say, but *swoon*. One of my favorites!

This was an excellent novel and I really look forward to reading more from Ellie Grace. After I finished Breakdown, I discovered that there is actually a book already out about Dex, Break Away, which was released in February 2014. I really fell for Dex and it's definitely going on my tbr. I highly recommend Breakdown, especially if you're looking for a romance that leaves you with the warm fuzzies!

~ "Someday you'll meet a guy who really sees you. He'll see you for who you are, beneath everything else. It won't matter what I say, or threaten, or try and keep him away from you, because you'll be worth it to him. He won't be scared of me, and he'll fight for you, because nothing I could ever do to him would be worse than not having you."

Ok. Let's see let's start at the beginning. Synopsis, when I read it I thought: well, she has a twin and her world falls apart, maybe she loses him abroad while he's fighting with the marines, there must be a lot of anguish and pain... Perfect for my current reading mood. Well let me tell you the following: *Insert a snort HERE*

Nothing further from reality.

Amy, she's everything I hate in a female character, that's to say, the typical silly girl and too stupid for her own good, which the day they handed out asshole detecting radars she missed the date. The truth is that the poor thing has an aim to attract assholes so perfect that it is not even funny.

Nate is a coward beyond all logic or prognosis; and he's not even so nice to miss that detail.

We met Amy and Nate in Break Away and if you haven't read that book, no worries, this will even be more fun as you have no certain idea of what is coming. The things is they both have had feelings for each other since they were teenagers, though never really acted on that, because Amy is his best friend's sister. Nate doesn't have a lot of family so he considers Dax like a brother and therefor Amy is forbidden.

We follow Amy and Nate over the years, from that first crush to real love. They've known each other for a long time and there were a couple of moments where they gave in, but in the end they always stopped. This leaving both of them actually a bit heartbroken. Seeing and being around the one you, while never really being together.

They've tried to move on, but it seems that fate keeps pushing them back together. Honestly it's like one of them needs to man up and just go for it, don't accept 'no' for an answer. There are some hurdles to overcome, but they are not unreasonable.

I always have some trouble with companion novels like this. Because I've already read the other book, I know how this is going to end. Though if you read this one first, you'll know how Break Away will end. Still it was well written and I very much liked Amy and Nate. While reading Break Away, I have to admit I was curious about their story and I was glad to see all that had happened in the past that led them to this point.

So it was a great companion novel. It was fun to get to know Amy and Nate better. Looking back on everything I am happy how everything turned out, but it almost seems a bit silly it had to take so long. You know they belong together, their feelings were so strong, it's just their fear holding them back. It's time for them to take a leap of faith and give it their all.

I’ve read tons of books where the girl falls in love with her brother’s best friend. Stories with a plot where the female character is in love with her brother’s friend are very common. There are tons of books out there with a similar storyline. However, Breakdown was a rather decent book with an interesting plot.

I appreciated that the author used a common plot but made it her own. I could tell how the book is different from others. Endings are one of the most important parts in a book because they conclude the story and make readers satisfied. In my opinion, Breakdown had it. The ending wasn’t predictable or common. I really liked how it ended.

However, the main characters were very frustrating in the middle of the book. We are aware of their feelings for each other as we are reading from both perspectives. But it was infuriating when the characters were very hesitant. They kept swinging back and forth instead of being clear with each other. Neither of them were being honest with each other. I felt like it created unnecessary drama and misunderstandings.

For the most part, Breakdown was a great novel. The main characters infuriated me but I liked the character development they had from the aftermath. The characters were able to work on their problems and improve on their trust. I liked it.

4 Wonderfully Sweet Stars!

Review by Lisa Kane

I really loved this book. It was a sweet read (not too much angst) and had interesting characters. The main couple, Amy and Nate seemed to be cursed by fate. He is her twin brother's best friend and he took Dex's warnings way too seriously for me. Dex is so protective of his sister that he warns ALL guys off of her in high school. There are a few close encounters with Nate, but he always manages to push her away out of respect for his friendship with Dex. (someone needs to buy this guy a clue!

Even when Amy is in college, Nate still keeps his distance, but then she meets someone and that changes the course of her future. Nate is there for her but only as a friend. Years go by and Finally it seems this may be their chance. But will they both be on the same page?

The secondary characters, Dex and Olivia, had their own story in the first book of this series, Break Away. My interest is piqued and I am going to check that one out also.

This is my first Ellie Grace read. I am not familiar with her first two books but when I read the synopsis to this book I couldn’t resist reading it. Falling in love with brother’s best friend is probably one of my all-time favorite plot lines. I was definitely interested when I found out the story starts at their very beginning. Not just the start of their relationship but the start of them.

“My entire life, I’ve been part of a set. An eternal duo. A pair. One half of a whole.”

[SPOILER]

Really DETEST when they put stupid barriers and the h ends up giving his virginity to another boy. The icing on the cake is that the h gets pregnant! As the groom sends the devil, runs to the H. At good Time!

More things (Prior to the news of pregnancy)

The h almost has sex with the H in the car when she has not broken up with her boyfriend yet. And while the Nate is repentant and advises him to talk to the boyfriend, she confesses to Nate that she does not love to Duncan, and that you will never love it...

Already. Well, that did not matter to him when he took him to the parents' house, when I walked with him through the town and in front of Nate's nose. She also did not care when after this episode of the car SHE CONTINUES WITH THE BOYFRIEND!

¡A buena hora!

LEEANN'S REVIEW - 4 Stars

OK, so this book is written in 3 parts. Part 1 is about Amy when she was teenager and she has a crush on her brothers best friend Nate, part 2 is about Amy in college with her boyfriend and how she still has a thing for Nate and he for her and part 3 is 4 years later and where they both are in their lives.
I'm glad this was broken I to 3 parts be a use it gave us a big of background information about Amy and her twin brother Dex and their relationship with everyone else included in the book.

This is one of those stories that shows how 1 decision good or bad, right or wrong can change your life forever, in ways you never saw coming.
Dex has always been protective of Amy when it came to boys and dating so she has never really had any experience in that area.
Then she goes to college and gets herself a boyfriend. He is not the nicest bloke in the world but she doesn't see the ugly side of him until she takes him to meet her family.
They break up as soon as they go back to school. Then she finds out she is pregnant. He tells her he want nothing to do with the baby so she goes home to her parents. Although Dex has always kept her away from boys, he is very supportive of his sister and is there for her. He has no idea that for years Amy and his friend Nate have had a thing for each other. They have never taken it anywhere through because they both know Dex would not approve.

When the book jumps to 4 years later things have changed for everyone including Dex. Nate and Amy decide they want to be together and are ready to face Dex and deal with the consequences.
This is a really well written book. It shows the complexity of family relationships and what happens with any relationship when communication is lacking. It was easy to predict how the story was going to end but a good read none the less. I enjoyed the story and the characters were really nice people, they weren't just out to upset each other they genuinely cared for each other and looked after each other. I liked the fact that Amy was determined to stand on her own 2 feet and learn to be herself and be a mum before relying on anyone else to look after her and her baby.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about nice people who spend their lives going the right thing and eventually get their happy ever after.

FINALLY! I have been waiting for this book ever since I read Break Away earlier this year! Just seeing Nate and Amy together trying to fight their attraction to one another... Whew! I knew it was inevitable! I really enjoyed getting Amy's backstory and seeing her history with Nate, as heartbreaking as it all is.

This is just a sweet romance. It's perfect for when you just need something to make you smile. Grace's characters are fun, sweet, and loveable and she has a very engaging writing style.

Amy and Nate have quite the history together and I really like that Grace broke the book into three parts, detailing the two's relationship over time. It isn't an easy journey, especially with Nate constantly holding himself back for fear of ruining his friendship with her twin brother, Dex.

We first meet Amy and Nate while they are still in high school. Dex has put the fear of God in every boy that even looks his sister's way, thus causing some problems for Amy. As a senior in high school, she has missed out on a lot of the dating experiences that everyone else has had because of her overprotective brother. So when a cute guy asks her out, she says yes because finally someone has the cajones to defy her brother! Even though this boy is no Nate, who she has been crushing on forever, she decides to give him a shot... only to be heartbroken later. Nate is the one to pick up the pieces and console her, thus resulting in bringing them closer together than ever before. However, Nate is adamant about not ruining his friendship with Dex and that things could never progress with them.

This seems to be Nate's mantra for a good part of the book and that killed me! Stop taking the high road Nate and GO AFTER HER! He wants to, but holds himself back. I really felt bad for Amy though. There's only so much rejection a girl can take! She starts dating a guy in college, who turns out to be a huge douche canoe. However, Amy's life has already been altered in a big way and now has some pretty big changes coming down the pike for her. Nate wants to be there for her and be the one to once again pick up the pieces, but she refuses to let him do so, thus causing him to separate himself from her once again. Normally, I hate back and forth in a relationship, but there's something about Grace's writing style that makes the angst work really well. You really feel for Nate and respect him for being such a good friend, but if you have that strong of feelings for your friend's sister, surely your friend would eventually understand and get over it?!

I love when Nate and Amy finally get it together. They are so precious together and they have such great chemistry! Nate is quite the sexy talker too! He is so supportive of Amy and I'm really glad that she had him, Dex, and her family in her life. Sadie is also a really great character and I love how accepting she was of Nate also. Their scenes together really warmed my heart!

We also get to see Dex and Liv from Amy and Nate's point of views, so it was fun reliving their romance too, as the previous books' timeline coincides with part of this one's.

Overall, this series just really works for me. I love the characters Grace has created and I feel so connected to them. Watching them fall for one another and find their own happiness really makes my heart happy.

Breakdown. Ellie Grace

This is the first book I have read by Ellie Grace, but the cover and especially the synopsis really drew me in. I have heard of Ellie Graces other 2 books "This time around" and " Breakaway" and had them both of my TBR list but never got round to reading them. I can defiantly garentee that after reading Breakdown, Ellies other 2 books will be going straight to the top of my TBR list after reading "Breakdown"
Breakdown isn't part of a series so you don't need to read the other 2 books by Ellie before reading " Breakdown"

Amy Porter and her twin brothers Dex are very close. They've grown up together and Amy's been so close with her brother and Amy's spent a lot of time grew up with Dex and his friends. Amy grew up around all her brothers mates and was seen more of " one of the guys" until the years start going by and Any starts changing from a little girl to a young women. One of Dex's friends, Nate starts noticing Amy as she starts changing and she couldn't be happier has she has had a crush on Nate for years. But unfortunatly neither can do anything, both are off limits to each other. Nate won't break a promise he made to his best friends brother or risk destroying their relationship. But unfortunately Amys 4 years later, life doesn't run smoothly for Amy and even though she tries to move on, when her life starts to crumble around her, Nates alway the one their to pick up the pieces.

Amy was such a sweet girl. You could see why anyone would want to be with her. Growing up around boys made her tomboyish, but not in a manly, every man will just want to be friends with you way. She made being a tomboy hot, and you could see why Nate or any guy would find her attractive or want to be with her. I could feel her love for Nate through the pages. You could tell it was pure love that lasts forever, but if there wasn't ups and downs along the way, know matter how perfect they are, it wouldn't be true love or realistic. Ellie write Amys side of the story perfectly. She made your heart break for her and at the same times she made you want to scream at the book to just let her be happy as she deserves it .

Nate is also a sweet character. He's a lads lad growing up, but he's not a "BadBoy" at all. I ended up feeling sorry for Nate most of the story, because he's torn between doing what's best for his best friend, who he never want to betray. On the other hand you can tell Amy is the love of his life and he should be with her. Your heart breaks for him and the decision he has to make. He's drawn to Amy time after time and every now and then, they both give in to their feelings, but after the guilt is to much.

I liked the drawn out love, and that the author left you with a will they won't they??? All through out the book. The story takes you on a journey of friendship that turns to true love and beyond. The characters were so sincere and likeable. You fell completly in love with with them.

I'm so glad I got to read this beautiful story and I'll definyly be reading Ellie graces other books very soon as I love her writing style and the way she pulls you in to a story.

Great book. 4.5 stars

Breakdown by Ellie Grace is a love story that stands the test of time, pulling the reader into an emotion so deep and true; that regardless of the circumstances or situations that life throws at the characters, their love never falters. This was a 4 star read for me and I would recommend it to others. I cannot wait to read the next book from this amazing author that I have just discovered and you will feel the same way once you turn the first page of this book.

Amy has been in love with Nate for as long as she can remember and in turn Nate has loved her since he was eighteen. There was one thing that stood in the way of their happiness; Amy's twin brother Dex. Dex was your typical over-protective brother; making sure that no guy would get within reach of his sister's heart, never close enough to break it and that included his best friend Nate. Sharing one amazing kiss in high-school that rocked them both to the core; Nate walked away from Amy and the feelings that she stirred within him because he could never risk losing Dex and the extended family that he had with his best friend.

Amy tried to forget about Nate, believing that he didn't have feelings for her and that is why when they kissed and she confessed her feelings for him, he walked away saying it was a mistake. She went to college and began dating like a normal girl her age, enjoying herself without the over-protectiveness that Dex always provided. Everything changed for her the weekend that she came home to visit Dex who was on leave from training with the Marines. Bringing her boyfriend to meet the family, a man she thought she loved, she saw his true colors. The characteristics that she began to severely dislike grew in abundance when she discovered that she was pregnant and he wanted nothing to do with her or the baby. Determined to do it on her own, she gave up all hope on anything every happening between her and Nate and she focused on her baby and building a life for herself. Needing to be away from Amy and his feelings, Nate leaves town to take a job traveling the world looking for authentic classic car parts for a restoration company.

Its tragedy that brings Nate and Amy back together 4 years later, while attending the funeral of their friend Teddy, who died while deployed overseas with Dex. Nate returns home for good, knowing that the small town he grew up in is where he belongs. Amy having built a life for herself and her daughter there sees him for the first time and every emotion and feeling she had rises to the surface. And it is here where the real love story of Nate and Amy begins. Through trials, tribulations, mis-understandings and things unsaid; Amy and Nate slowly but surely make there way back to each other, to begin a relationship that they should have began so many years before. This story will break your heart and make you smile all at the same time. You will fall in love with Nate and even a little with Dex, who this reader hopes is the main character in the next book!

4.5 stars!

This is the first book I've read from this author, and I have to say that I'll definitely be checking out her other books! I've been wanting to read them for a while now, but I just kept putting them off for some reason! I also have to admit that I didn't know that this book was a companion to Break Away when I signed up for the Blog Tour, but you can definitely read it as a standalone, as it focuses on secondary characters that appear in Break Away! This book is their story though! I loved this book! There was a lot in it and it developed beautifully! The plot was amazing! I found it hard to put down because I wanted to see what was going to happen next and if the main characters were finally going to admit their feelings for each other! The plot also took place over several years so it was able to develop a lot and have a lot happen in it! The plot was also so beautiful and so cute! It also got seriously steamy at some points, which I loved! I also loved the sexual tension between the two main characters! It was a bit subtle at the start and then it developed as the book did, which I adored! Overall, I loved this book and everything about it! The characters were just as amazing as the plot! Amy was the main female character and she went through a lot in this book! I think she handled it all brilliantly though! She got a few surprises along the way, but she took them in her stride and did the best she could! As I said, this book took place over several years, so I got to see Amy grow a lot as a character, and I loved how she developed! She turned from a normal, everyday teenager into a mature, hard-working woman who would do anything for the people she loved! I loved her! Nate was the main male character and he was so cute and so hot! I just adored Nate! He was such a gentleman and so kind! He also tried to resist his feelings for Amy, and he did for years, but he finally admitted how he really felt to her! I have to admit that I silently rejoiced at this scene lol! It was the scene I had been waiting for lol! Nate just made me fall completely head-over-heels for him in this book! I just loved him! Nate and Amy as a couple were also perfect for each other too, so when they kept resisted their feelings for each other, I sort of wanted to shake them to get them to admit how they really felt lol! I loved that this book was written from both Amy and Nate's point of views! It really helped me see how much love the two characters had for each other! The ending was also absolutely perfect! I smiled like crazy and may have shed a few happy tears lol! As I said, I'm definitely going to be checking out this author's other books! I can't wait to read them and also read Dex and Olivia's story in Break Away! The cover for this book is stunning! It's what first attracted me to it! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it! Big thank you to Ellie for an ARC of Breakdown and to Wordsmith Publicity for having me on the Blog Tour!

Breakdown a great journey of a young girl trying to break away from being the shadow of her twin brother Dex and being hopelessly in love with the brothers best friend Nate. This story will send you in a tailspin of emotions because you will love Nate but you will want to strangle him for not going for what he wants because of a friendship. This story will have serious heart break and make you cry happy and sad tears. I would give this book a 4 star and most definitely will be recommending to others.

Amy has always been the girl that all the guys seen as just a friend, why you ask because her twin brother happens to be the most protective man on the planet and always warns all the guys away from his sister. Amy is torn because not only does she despise her brother for what he did she wants Nate her brother's best friend to notice her, and when her and Nate share an amazing kiss and he pushes her away she is devastated. She does what every girl would do in her position she goes away to college and tries to live her life. She even manages to be in a relationship that she finds that she will cherish because she finally found a man that sees her as Amy the girlfriend not just a girl as a friend. But when she brings him home for the holiday break her impression of him will soon change and she finds herself in a very twisted situation when she comes up pregnant and he leaves her to deal with it on her own.

Nate believe it or not isn't a playboy, he wants the true love the happily ever after but can't seem to find someone worthy of that love. Well he knows one woman that would fit that profile but she is off limits.. Amy... after he finally gave in a kissed her when they were teenagers he knew he made a mistake because not only is she off limits it just made him want her more. So he leaves town and makes a life for himself .. but when he comes back home when tragedy strikes and finds a broken Amy will he be able to still live with himself if he didn't finally give into what he has always felt for her?

I'll consider myself the luckiest man on earth if I ever have something half as special as they have. Unlike all my friends, who go through girls like they go through socks, I'm looking for that one person who will be my lifelong best friend. I see real, true love every day when I look at my parents, and that's what I want, too. I want the real thing.-- Nate

Will Amy and Nate finally realize life is too short to give up on what you want? Or will circumstances and fate keep getting in there way?

I look forward to so much more from this author! And I really hope we get Dex's story because hot damn a sexy bad boy Marine is a wet dream come true! Thanks for a great story and hope for more in the near future.

This is a cute sweet love story that shows what it means to value friendship and family. Nathan is Amy’s brother’s best friend. He is also in love with Amy but respects her brother and doesn’t want to lose him so he keeps his love a secret. Amy is in love with Nate but doesn’t want to get hurt or have her brother lose his friend. Each struggle with their attraction in different ways. Sometimes they give in and this hurts them more because they know that they can’t be together. to deal with this they go down different paths. One to try to gain freedom and independence and the other to find out who they are and gain some peace away from others. To live a dream and see the world through different eyes. To run from the sorrow and be free of the shackles of responsibilities, honor and to try to heal and go on. tragedy strikes and their paths cross again only now Nate is needed to help heal Amy’s brother. They grow close and yet far apart at first. they fight their feelings again and again until there is a boiling point and they can’t fight anymore. Nathan is the boy next door. The one every mom loves and wants to see at their door. He is kind and caring. Gentle and sweet. Loyal and wonderful to all he loves. He takes responsibility and family seriously but he also is in a bind. What does he do? how does he fight and stay strong? Sometimes he lets his emotions carry him away and than does some hurtful things but it is unintentional. He is always their to pick Amy up even when he is far away. this is the guy we all want to see happy. the one we root for and are glad to see get the ending of happiness. Amy is caring and kind but flawed. She was sheltered by an overprotective brother who only wants the person she is with to fight for her. Because of this she doesn’t always make the best decisions. She is out on her own and gains freedom but doesn’t quite deal with that well. She is trying to move on from her feelings for Nathan but can’t quite let go. She makes mistakes and they have consequences. These consequences lead her to do something heartbreaking and very brave. Yet for Nathan it spurs him to go out on his own. Something I don’t think she expected. He walks away from his home so he can grow. This wasn’t I believe a desired outcome to Amy but a good one. Nathan found himself and became stronger and more resilient in that time away. when they come together again they are more ready to face the challenges ahead. A nicely written sweet love story that shows all good things comes to those who wait. A love that spans several years, distance, and has acceptance and beauty encased into one. A quick adorable read.

After meeting Amy and Nate in Break Away, I couldn’t wait for more of their story. Breakdown is a story spanning years, we’re talking around 10 or so here. It begins back in high school when Amy begins breaking out of her tom boy ways. It’s around that time that Nate Miller moves to town and befriends Amy’s twin brother Dex. It’s rough when you fall for your brother’s bff, especially when he doesn’t see you as more than his friend’s sister, or so she thinks…

“Someday you’ll meet a guy who really sees you,” he continues. “He’ll see you for who you are, beneath everything else. It won’t matter what I say, or threaten, to try and keep him away from you, because you’ll be worth it to him. He won’t be scared of me, and he’ll fight for you, because nothing I could ever do to him would be worse than not having you.”

God. I just wanted to shake both Amy and Nate, but mostly Dex. He unknowingly kept Amy and Nate apart for YEARS! Things happen for a reason…blah, blah, blah… I know all that. If Amy hadn’t been with her crappy ex in college, she would have never given birth to such a darling little girl, but even that doesn’t stop the frustration. Miscommunication always gets me going.

If you’ve read Break Away, none of what I’m saying should come as a surprise. A good portion (the end, really) of Nate and Amy’s story takes place at the same time as Dex and Olivia’s story. That little taste teased me! You can’t give me part of a story; I need the whole shebang. Thank God I got it! And better yet, I wasn’t disappointed. At all. While Dex and Olivia hold a special place in my heart (their story was my favorite of the series,) Amy and Nate weaseled their way in there making a place of their own.

In this moment I know that I want her to be mine.

I want them to be mine.

I want to protect them and take care of them. I want to make them smile and laugh, and hold them when they cry. I want to be there to revel in the good times and help them through the bad. I want to be the one by their side in life, not looking in from the outside.

I highly recommend any of Ellie’s books. They’re quick, fun reads that easily hold your attention. She’s a gifted storyteller, and I look forward to reading whatever she comes out with next!

All throughout Break Away, I was anxious to know what was happening between Amy and Nate while Dex and Olivia’s story took center stage. Amy and Nate finally have their turn and Ellie Grace has expertly exceeded all of my expectations for their story. Amy and Nate’s story is bursting with feelings as they navigate growing up together, time spent apart and falling in love. Their shared history made for more heart wrenching emotions and an incredibly rich and fulfilling storyline. Nate certainly swept me off my feet. His kindness, loyalty and ability to love just blew me away. He is undoubtedly the perfect match for Amy. Amy on the other hand, continued to amaze me with her strength. Life deals her some significant blows, yet she continues to move forward and support her family first and foremost.

Since Amy and Nate have known each other since they were kids, we get to see them together in their younger years. I adored the more innocent voices of their childhood and watching them experience a first (and forbidden) love developing between them. As time passed and both Amy and Nate moved forward in their lives, Ellie effectively matured their voices as well. Both characters experienced an emotional evolution over the course of this story and I loved being witness to their personal growth. There is something so special about seeing a character’s transformation; it connects you to them as if you’ve known them forever.

Breakdown certainly had more highs and lows than I ever could have guessed. Their relationship was constantly evolving and it made the story feel completely genuine. Ellie Grace kept me on this emotional ride, laughing, crying, cheering for them and cursing the universe for getting in their way. Amy and Nate (and Sadie) owned my heart from the start and I knew I wasn’t going to be able to put this book down until it was done. With each of her books, Ellie’s skills as a writer continue to flourish while her storytelling ability keeps transcending any and all of my wishes. I can’t wait to see what she had in store next!

Breakdown was a bitter sweet love story that made me cry though out the entire book for what could have been and what really was. I have not read any other of the books in this series. I did not even know this was a series. I am sure Ellie would like to know I will be buying these books and reading them all asap.

Poor Nate and Amy . Amy has been in love winner her twin brother's best friend Nate since high school. He is the only friend of her brother's that has not treated her like on of the boys. Secretly, Nate has had feelings for Amy too. Nate knows how protective her brother is of Amy, and also knows he would not like him dating his sister.

Fast forward a few years, now everyone is older. Amy is in college and has a jerky boyfriend. Nate is at home working at his dad's car repair shop. Amy's brother has come home from military leave and everyone is hanging out. Things happen that leave Nate and Amy thrown together. Before things can escalate, Nate pulls away. He still thinks it is not a good idea to go after his friend's sister.

Amy heads back to school, tail between her legs, and finds out some troubling news that changes her life forever. Nate, tired of living his same old life, sets out on his own for work and to see the world.

4 years later, an event brings them all back home. Now even older and in different paths in their life, there is still the same attraction. Not knowing how to fight it anymore, they give and not only have a crazy sexy affair, but end up falling in love. They keep their affair secret, fearing it will harm Nate's relationship with Amy's brother.

Nate Miller and Amy Porter had a roller coaster of a relationship. There were so many up and downs as well as unexpected events that happened to both of them. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I was in shock and tears a few times in this book. I absolutely loved it. I am now gonna be on the look out for any Ellie Grace books that are coming out!!

I received this book as part of a First Reads sweepstakes. I was excited to get this book because I love a good love story. I particularly like the format of how this was written with each chapter being told in the 1st person of alternating main characters. I love how the author set us up to have to care for and root for this twosome. I wanted to see this couple together, out in the open, finally enjoying their lives together. I totally believed in Nate being an over all, good guy, caring, loyal, kind...the kind of man you want to have for yourself and bring home to your parents, and fall in love with and spend your life with.

This book was going to get FIVE stars for sure. Until I got to page 219. It went down hill for me at this point. While I was able to browse over words like "arousal" throughout the book and felt only mildly uncomfortable with getting a little too personal for me there, by the time I got to page 219 and I had to start reading about "tits" and their description I nearly had enough. Turn the page to the hot, ,very up close and personal descriptions of acts I did not care to read about in such graphic detail. Had I wanted that kind of story I would have read 50 Shades of Gray! (which I did not enjoy, by the way.)

Maybe I am getting old (48yrs) but I didn't grow up with that kind of talk. I know today, sexting is popular, but I think it is rude, crude and nasty. Regarding the age of people, I believe there are way more people of my thinking, who are uncomfortable with dirty talk like that. After all, sexting talk is by mid 20's and younger people. Regarding avid readers such as myself, there are way more people over the age of 25 than there are younger.

With that being said, I DID enjoy the story of Amy and Nate and I really want to read the next one, Breakdown because I feel I am now invested in everyone's story. I will read it with the knowledge I may come across the dirty talk so I am prepared if it written in there.

Such a promising synopsis, but what a let down....(*sigh*). I have always love stories with the heroine falling in love with her brother's best friend - especially if it started out since their childhood, but this particular story isn't as promising as the synopsis depicted.

The book is written in dual POV - Amy's & Nate's. Amy describes herself as a tomboy since children to which she attributes it to the fact that she spends most part of her childhood deprived of girly clothing (wearing her twin brother's clothes) and toys, as well as playing with her twin brother and his friends. By the time she's a teenager, she believes that guys - mostly her brother's friends, view her as nothing more than a tomboy. So when Nate - who isn't part of her brother's childhood entourage, met Amy for the first time and gave her a "look" (which I believe is the start of an insta-love), Amy crushed on Nate....hard.

The beginning seems very sweet and all, but as she reached to her final year in high school, most male population in Amy's high school have never asked her out due to her twin brother's warning them away from her - including Nate, who is somewhat attracted to Amy at that point of the story.

Now, I may understand that the Nate in high school is afraid of Dex (Amy's twin brother), but as the story progresses (which spans approximately 8-9 years give or take), I find it hard to swallow that Dex did not try asking Amy out for the fear of losing Dex. He didn't want to take the risk until VERY much later. I just hate guys with no balls (*ugh...*).

I have nothing against the story, it's pleasant but not great (it could've been better). It ends with a HEA, but with much less impact that I had initially expected. If you are new to reading brother's-best-friend-romance, go ahead and give this book a try. It's not as bad if you aren't as jaded about average romance stories (I have read a LOT of romance, mind you).

Breakdown by Ellie Grace
4 Stars

Amy and Dex are more than brother and sister, they are best friends. Amy is always around Dex and his friends and is deemed “one of the guys” at a young age. That all changes once Amy reaches her teenage years and starts to look like more than one of the guys! One of Dex’s friends, Nate in particular starts to take notice and the feelings are mutual. Amy has a HUGE crush on Nate, always has. BUT…yes, there is always a but..lol…Nate does not want to jeopardize his friendship with Dex by going after his sister.

So they kinda suffer in silence. Well, they do secretly “hook up” a few times but immediately afterwards one of them always deems the hook up as a mistake, devastating the other. Nate’s feelings about this are compounded when Dex, who is ready to get shipped off to the Marines, in not so many words asks Nate to keep an eye on his sister. He feels he needs to be a friend to Dex and not try to get into his sisters pants but at the same time is torn because of his feelings for Amy.

Right about this time, Amy goes off to college and gets a HUGE surprise. It’s a surprise that makes her realize she needs to let her dreams of being with Nate go and she needs to let him move on as she does. With Amy at college and Dex going into the Marines, Nate takes off to travel and to try and go “find himself”.

Fast forward 4 years. Tragedy brings Nate and Amy face to face and back in each others lives. They soon find out that the feelings that they had for each other years ago are still alive and well. Can they act on them now? Is there anything really keeping them apart this time? This was a cute love story and worth the read.

My first read from Ellie Grace and definitely not the last.

I have read a dozen of second-chance romance. Well, Breakdown is not a second-chance romance, it is a third-chance romance.

Amy Porter has been deemed one of the boys. Being in the same group as his brother, guys does not see her as a "she". As she grows older, it became evident to those around her that she is indeed a girl.

A girl who only hopes to have her first date before going out to the college world can be quite a challenge when you have a twin brother who is both overprotective and popular.

Nate Miller, Dex's best friend, has set his attention to one girl, though she is off-limits since she is the twin sister of his best friend.

Breakdown tells the story on what happens when these two finally acts on what they feel.

The story is also cut into three parts = three chances.

The first and second parts, I am not a fan of Nick though I can understand his loyalty to Dex.

Third part, he has redeemed himself. Hallelujah!

Amy is a sweet, strong woman all through out the book. She knows what she wants. She stands in every decision that she made - even the consequences.

Overall, I've enjoyed the story of Breakdown. It was light, romantic and something to be enjoyed after a long day.

Now, I am excited to find out what Ellie Grace has in stored for her next books.

To Ellie Grace and Wordsmith, thank you ladies for a chance to read this!

I’ve been looking forward to Amy and Nate’s story for a long long time and now that I finally read it…Ellie Grace has fully blown my mind all over again! I loved this story!

When I first saw a glimpse of Amy and Nate in Breakaway (Dex and Olivia’s Story) I immediately knew I had to read it. I was drawn to their story just as much as I was for Dex and Olivia. The same thing happened in this one! I want to read all these books again!

Nate and Amy are perfect for each other. They knew it at a young age but loyalty was also important to them and for these two, it took away their chance to be together. Then, when things are finally starting to go in their favor, responsibility steps in the way. Being together wasn’t looking like an option and as a reader I was hooked by this. These two deserved a happily ever after and they deserved it together.

Nate has officially been added to the top five of my book boyfriend list. Scene after scene I feel for this guy. It was hard not to. Grace developed his character beautifully. Amy was equally fantastic. A strong female lead is always a good thing. Grace didn’t cut any corners on creating these two. Brilliant!

Like all the books I’ve read by Ellie Grace, this was a well written, easy, and fast read. I say fast due to the fact you won’t put it down until you turned the last page. Even then you want more!

Thank you Ellie Grace for a sweet and heart touching read!

Want more of the characters in this book?? Don’t miss BREAKAWAY (Dex and Olivia’s Story) and THIS TIME AROUND (Nora and Jake’s Story). They can each be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading them all!

I have always been a fan of the "falling for my best friend's sister/brother's best friend" type of story, so I was eager to read Breakdown to see how this one would play out. The writing was very well done which allowed this story to flow really well, resulting in a quick read that was easy to get into and stay engaged.

The characters were well written, and felt like they could be people I would know and hang out with, especially since I was a tomboy myself growing up. I really liked Dex's character, he was actually my favorite in this story even though Nate and Amy were the lead characters. While Nate made an excellent male lead, I did get a bit frustrated with the way he was more loyal to his friendship with Dex than to the possibility of finding something with Amy. It was so easy to see that there was something there between Nate and Amy, and so hard to watch them not taking advantage of their chances.

But the story overall was very good, and the way things start coming together toward the end helped make up for the frustration leading up to that point. The whole idea--don't be afraid to take a chance on love, regardless of who the person is. You can't help who you fall for, who your heart wants.

A solid story with a wonderful ending...and a 4-star rating from me. 18+ for the adult scenes.
