Damaged - Jacintas story. By j l Perry. 29th out. Author groupies
I havnt read any of the other books in the series by J L Perry, but was told I could read it as a stand alone as its a story of Jacinta life. I know Jacinta had been introduced in book 2 of the series, and this book is book 3. I'm guessing Jacinta wasn't a main character in book2, so that's why you can read this as a stand alone. I'm assuming from not reading book 2 I'm missing out of pieces that I may need to know. I didn't have time to read the first 2 books in the series, " My Destiny" ( Destiny #1) and " My Forever" ( (Destiny #2) but now I've read Jacinta's story I will be going to make sure I read the first 2 books ASAP.
Jacinta's story is her telling you about everything she went through with her father, all her trials and tribulations and her trying to conquer her fear of letting love in her life.
Jacinta meets Mason after her friend convinces her to lose her virginity by having a one night stand. Mason is the man that Jacinta does this with. However the next day Jacinta is suprised how upset that it has made her that she will never see Mason again. However in her mind, she thinks she to damaged and beyond repair to have a relation with Mason or anybody.
Unbeknown to her, Madon felt a connection with "the girl he had a one night stand with" but doesn't even know her name or anything about her. However fate steps in one day and their paths cross once more. Will they still have the same connection and are they both ready and over all their issues to move on together to try and build a relationship?
Mason came across in the book as a player, someone who can do anything he puts his mind to and somebody should can get any girl he wants. However straight away you can tell this is just a front he puts on. You know his life isn't straight forward, and the women is a cover to hide he's problems in his life.
Both characters have suffered abuse throughout their lives. Mason left home in his early teens to get away from his "dad" who was a abuser. So for both characters to find each other when they've both been through so much similar things in their lives. To me it was fate from the beginning. It was fate that Jacinta choose Mason to take her virginity, fate that even though it was a one night stand they both felt a connection, fate that their lives were so similar and both struggling from distrust, abuse etc, and fate that even though it was a one night stand they ended up bumping in to each other after they both wanted more than a one night stand.
The story was very magical. It will bring out a lot of emotions whilst your reading. One minute your laughing and the next crying. I fell in love with both the characters. They both have have had a hard life.
I wish I had read book 1 and 2 before this book, esp book 2 as that's apparently where Jacintas character is introduced. I think if I had read the other books first I'd of enjoyed the book more and had a bit more of an idea of what was going on. That is however my fault and I wouldn't rate the book down because if that. I will be reading the first 2 books immediately and I'm sure then I'll understand "a Damaged" so much more.
Having never read a book by J.L Perry I didn't know what to expect, but her writing style was amazing. I understood the pain of both characters, and also enjoyed how perfectly the story flowed brilliantly. If her other 2 books are wrote as beautifully as this book then I'll be very happy.
