The story starts in a small Cessna plane, with a pilot and the main character Brian Robeson. The pilot has a heart attack and Brian has to fly the plane. Eventually, the plane crashes into a river and all brian is left with is a hatchet. He figures out that he can use his hatchet to create sparks and make a fire. Brian found turtle eggs to eat then figured out how to catch fish than birds. He built a shelter and a tornado destroyed it and brought the plane to the surface of the water. He remembers that the plane had a survival kit and went to receive it.

It had a great story and was very fun to read.

You set a journey to a place you love, the only problem is that your plane crashes on a huge forest, you think some people were still alive, but then, oh you realize you are alone.

The book I read was Hatchet. The author is Gary Paulsen, he is an American author for teens. He was born on the 17th of May 1939 in Minnesota. There are 5 main characters which are: Jim or Jake, Brian’s father, Brian’s mother, Brian Roberson and Terry. This is a pretty short book, but really intense. This book won the Newbery medal in 1987, and the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children’s Book Award in 1988. This book was published on the 30th of September 1987.

This book talks about this kid, Brian Roberson and his father and his Mother who are recently divorced. He wants to go to visits his father in the U.S. So his mother booked the flight, and without any hesitations he went. He was on a private plane with just the pilot and himself. During the flight the Pilot had an Heart Attack, and unfortunately the airplane crashed on a lake, but fortunately he could escape with nothing more than some bruises. He is terryfaid, he thinks that he needs to find food and water all by himself. With his hatchet he cuts of trees to make a shelters and makes fall some berries to eat. With time he becomes tougher and more courageous. He learned how to fish, makes bows and arrows to hunt etc... Fortunately he gets in the plane and gets the pilot's emergency bag. Inside it there was a compass, a sleeping bag, cooking tools, lighter, bandages and a rifle, so almost everything to survive with. He even finds a transmitter, he plays a bit with it, but he thinks it doesn't work, but actually he is wrong.

I really liked this book. This book isn’t really long, but at the same time it’s really intense. It is a genre i really like, it gives you lot’s of suspense. If I have to rate it I would give it a 8.5 over 10. I liked this book but I think something is missing, maybe a love scene or something like that. The main conflict of this book is Brian getting stuck on this huge forest, and he still has the courage to survive and continue living.

I decided to re-read this book, and I came to the conclusion that all, if not, most people should read it.

It is very well paced, the narrative focused solely on survival of Brian, our protagonist, after the plane crash. It goes like this for months within the book, his skills as a woodsman developing. Being able to hunt, fish, and fend for himself, as necessary to survive in the harsh setting of a forest. Overall, the book is atmospheric, the theme being that reality is harsh and that you MUST adapt to survive. Flexibility is key.

So yeah, I would DEFINITELY recommend this book for young adults and beyond!

this book is a really great one. Its about how this kid had to survive when he was in a plane with the pilot and they hit a tree. the pilot died but he didn't. He had to use his survival tactics and hunting skills to survive. He also made his own shelter and weapons.
