For something aimed at dummies, I am very confused. Have an example of this book's tone:
Book 1, Chapter 2: "Don't worry about this, we go over it in Book 2, Chapter 3"
Book 2, Chapter 3: "You'll remember this when we went over it in Book 1, Chapter 2"
The book would have benefited hugely from a simple glossary of definitions too.
I rescued this from a tall stack of books my housemate - just finished an accounting degree - was going to dump in the recycling. I'd hoped this one would have been the best for someone at a beginners level like I am, but now I wonder if I'd been as well off with one of the slimmer, more advanced books.

I bought this to get some basic grasp of the subject. I've always thought I was OK at maths, but accounting and bookkeeping have seemed like... a closed book. And I'm afraid they still are, even after reading chunks of this book.

This is not a book for those who want to ask 'why?', it's a book for those who 'do as they're told'. I'm sure it's good for accounting students, but if, like me, you just want to be able to study a balance sheet and not feel stupid, this is not the book for you. You'll simply end up feeling more stupid.

Broad

Read this book to gain a broad overview of an accountants duties. Not the easiest to read at times but very accessible. I now need to research qualifications in the field.

Not of a help at all ... as I read this one at first I have had struggled with wrong terminology ... Do not recommend.
