Zane Flannery had always been overprotective of his famous wife, Kaylie - he was, after all, her former bodyguard. But in the aftermath of an averted tragedy, his protective instinct proved to be too potent for Kaylie. Feeling more like a prisoner than a wife, she saw no other option than to leave. Now, years later, even with a new threat of danger, Kaylie isn't convinced she should let Zane back into her life.
Lisa Jackson is the number-one New York Times bestselling author of over ninety-five novels, including the Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya Series, the Pescoli and Alvarez Series, the Savannah series, and numerous stand alone novels. She also is the co-author of One Last Breath, Last Girl Standing, and the Colony Series, written with her sister and bestselling author Nancy Bush, as well as the collaborative novels Sinister and Ominous, written with Nancy Bush and Rosalind Noonan. There are over thirty million copies of her novels in print and her writing has been translated into twenty languages.
Before she became a nationally bestselling author, she was a mother struggling to keep food on the table by writing novels, hoping against hope that someone would pay her for them. Today, neck deep in murder, her books appear on The New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly national bestseller lists.
With dozens of bestsellers to her name, Lisa Jackson is a master of taking readers to the edge of sanity—and back—in novels that buzz with dangerous secrets and deadly passions. She continues to be fascinated by the minds and motives of both her killers and their pursuers—the personal, the professional, and the downright twisted. As she builds the puzzle of relationships, actions, clues, lies, and personal histories that haunt her protagonists, she must also confront the fear and terror faced by her victims and the harsh and enduring truth that, in the real world, terror and madness touch far too many lives and families.
I hate books where the men are completely possessive and controlling, but because they are so good looking the woman just can't resist him--women deserve more than that
Zane Flannery has a security business and when he's hired as a bodyguard for Kaylie Melville--at the time, an up-and-coming actress--he never dreams that she'll become anything other than a client. But she does, when he falls in love with her. Trouble is, Zane is convinced this is a bad idea.
Kaylie agrees when Zane becomes what to her is too protective to the point of making her feel like she's a prisoner, even if she'd like to be captured in his arms and his heart. And she succeeds, when they marry. But then they divorce when she can't stand his overprotectiveness.
When it becomes clear that the insane fan who had threatened her years earlier seems to be back, Zane takes things into his own hands again, thereby frustrating Kaylie. But could he be right? Is she still in danger? And if so, will she allow him to keep her safe or risk being killed?
I brought this book as two novel set among with Rachel Lee's Cornered in Conrad County, both of which are categorized as romantic suspense, out of sheer boredom. Previously I've had no interest in the romance genre and was thus surprised when I got fully immersed in the story. The twist at the end (although somewhat predictable) kept my interest peaked. I definitely recommend Obsession for both fans of romance and suspense alike.
Okay I needed to edit to make an actual review, this book just made me so upset I wrote this out of anger LMAO. Okay listen.... I knew going into this that it was not going to be the thriller mystery of the century, I only wanted to read the tension and the romance and the awww yeahhh parts. Unfortunately, the romance aspect was not giving whatsoever. I thought the characters' dynamic was just strange. She wants to be independent; she feels smothered by him, but continues to try to make it work??? In the middle of him being just weird and possessive, he'll just grab her and start kissing her which doesn't do it for me personally. The steamy parts come and go which wouldn't have been a problem if the plot had anything to give at all. The big thing we're all waiting for at the end is over at the turn of a page.
Zane Flannery is obsessed with his ex wife whom he was once body guard for. Kaylie is a TV talk show host so in the public eye. The marriage ended due to Zanes over protectiveness. When Kalie is once again threatened by the psychotic killer who may be soon released from hospital, Zane goes into action as he has never fallen out of love with Kaylie. d
What a wild ride of a book..I had a list of suspects beside the obvious one...I knew someone else was behind everything happening to Kaylie. I even suspected her ex husband. I am glad that something else was behind everything that happened. It was a really good book. I loved every page of this book. It was a page turner that kept me on edge.
This has to be one of my favorite books written by Lisa Jackson! It is filled with romance and suspense! Kaylie drive me crazy! Her stubbornness irritated me but I really liked how it turned out in the end!
The storyline was fairly predictable but I picked up the book up for the romance with a side of suspense/ thriller and I think this delivered fairly well. I do think the climax was underwhelming but I was more interested in the enemies to lovers romance trope anyway. It was an easy read!
Zane, Kylie's ex husband and body guard, kidnaps her to save her from a tormented fan. This same fan had attacked her seven years ago and was currently locked up in an institution. However, Zane had received phone calls from "Ted" who claimed that this fan would soon be released.
So, Zane, kidnaps Kylie, "for her own protection" and spirits her away to his mountain cabin. Regardless of her protestations, her being absent from work and potentially losing her job, he locks her up and refuses to acquiesce to her repeated requests to let her go.
Why is this ok? I don't understand it, and I don't like it. How is this hijacking of her life any more acceptable than a man forcing himself on a woman who says "no"?
Kaylie Melville is a successful talk/news tv star, and movie star. 7 years ago she just film her biggest movie to date when things start to come apart. Zane Flannery was hired as a personal bodyguard to Kaylie when she was 19. As the years went by they became very close. and fell in love. after the death of her parents Kaylee and Zane gets married. at the release of her movie Obsession Kaylie is attack by a psycho and Zane saves her life and the end of their marriage. now 7 years later and Kaylie's life is in danger again and the only person who she can turn to is Zane, but she remembers how over protected he is and she don't know if she should let him back into her lefe
I didn't really think the relationship between the two main charachters meshed well, something just seemed strained, the story though is wonderful, its just the charachters backstory that seems off to me
